My old framer closed down, so I pulled up to the Paint Chip to get my most recent degree framed. My…read moreinitial appointment was very in-depth; the worker (unfortunately I don't remember their name) was SO helpful and walked me through tons of options to get the dignified look I was hoping for. I thought it was so cool that I got to go behind the counter and pick frame options off the wall - they really have everything you could ever need! We found a matte and frame that worked well with my other degree, which I brought for reference. The whole thing was under $300, which was very reasonable for what I ordered! They also gave me a discount for being a first-time customer and they also offer teacher discounts! The framing was estimated to take 6 weeks, which was a little long. However, the wait is worth it, as they custom-order and shape the frame to your needs. My order was finished in a little less than that timeline, which I appreciated. They also gave me hanging advice and tips for where it would look best. I love how it turned out and will definitely be back when I next have something special to commemorate!

This is a really cute store. As an artist, I always feel compelled to walk in when I visit my son…read moreout in Davis. I love the variety of paints, paintbrushes, art supplies, and frames, but it only seems to have gotten more expensive as the years go by. I bought 5 small items and almost paid 100! That's two tiny water colors, two paintbrushes, and two mechanical pencils, almost 100. Unbelievable. Secondly, there were two young women working there yesterday on a sunday, one was a taller young woman with glasses and straight hair, as I was passing by the counter, looking at watercolors, she began to talk about customers to her Coworker, who just listened, she began to talk about how someone who walked in was short, talking about their looks, and how she found short people unappealing and disgusting, and continued to talk about others on and on and on. She did not have a smile on her face, did not greet, she actually made faces. Little did she know, that the person she was referring to, was my brother's gf, which walked in separately and was on the other side of the store. Bad etiquette and lack of professionalism on her behalf. No one likes a snobby student, who sits there and talks down on people's looks as they enter the store. This made for a sour visit and my last visit at this store.

His craftsmanship is superb and the work is always before the estimated date. Custom farming is always expensive but, overall I consider that the price is right since the quality of his craft is so great. Additionally I had done estimates in Michael's when they have 60% -just for curiosity and to have a comparison- and even with the discount the pricing is better with Kwan.

Due to an ordering mishap for the materials, we ended up picking up the framed art pieces about a month later. The pieces had been sitting all rolled up in a tube for a number of years. The pieces were very well laid out and do not show any wrinkles. We love how the small and medium sized pieces turned out. The largest piece was a bit of a disappointment. It's sad because there was probably a lot of work done on this one. It was packaged for us to take as the place doesn't do delivery. We were sad to see upon coming home that the back paper backing had two holes where the frame met in the middle. The front glass has a scratch where the border near the frame is. I wish I had inspected it more closely at the shop. I think that this place is great if you are flexible on your timeline and have small to mid size pieces to work on. Great service, good value, and honest work. It does seem to be a one person shop. So you'll have to take that into account.

If you're in Woodland, you've got to check out Blue Wing Gallery & Framing…read more I've been here multiple times and have actually bought a few pieces over the years. Every time I walk in, there's something new that catches my eye. It's not your typical gallery. It feels personal, local, and real. Al and Sandy are awesome people. Super genuine, easy to talk to, and they actually care. They work very hard to make sure their clients are satisfied, and it shows in everything they do. No pressure, just good conversations and a real passion for their craft. The First Friday Art Walks are honestly one of the best things going on in Woodland. Great vibe, good crowd, and you can tell it means something to the community. I've enjoyed it every time. They've even delivered paintings miles away, which says a lot about the kind of service they provide. I live in Southern California now and I still call them for my framing work. That should tell you everything. Whether you're looking to buy art, reframe something important, or just have some time to walk around and check things out, it's absolutely worth stopping by. Thank you and keep up the amazing work you do for the community.

All of the artwork and photos that hang on the walls of my home have been framed by Al and Sandy at Blue Wing, and they look fabulous! In addition to expert framing (and this really is an art in itself that Sandy does superbly), the gallery has artwork on display from local and regional artists. They also host special events including First Friday in downtown Woodland. Do yourself a favor and stop in Blue Wing if you're interested in getting some artwork or photos framed, or you're interested in art. HIGHLY recommended.
