The exercise equipment and pro shop gear/supplements are all top of the line - you can tell that a lot of time is invested into making sure that S&S is outfitted with the high quality fitness products you need to reach your goals. Group classes are intentionally small so coaches consistently provide the feedback necessary to promote progress and prevent injury. In conjunction with the workouts, Nutrition and Mobility coaching create the perfect antidote for the desk life that plagues many of us in the DMV area. Sand & Steel meets everyone where they are, making it easy to just show up and do the work. Paul and Dawn maintain a strong culture of safety, standards, and support so, no matter what class or session you're in, you will get top tier instruction, modifications, and motivation from day one.

There are so many activities and things to do besides the actual workout which provides for a strong sense of community. All the above make it a great box, what makes the place exceptional is the fact that they go out of their way to help and support you. Paul worked with me to create the best plan that fits my time, finances, and goals. My coach, Ben, who is super nice and knowledgable, went above and beyond to teach me the right form and technique. When I told him I was little nervous about taking the first class, he offered to workout next to me to make sure I was doing well. That is a level of care you only see in people who are passionate about what they do and take pride in their work. Cons: None. Really, none!

She has well-rounded knowledge of the different types of workouts saturating the DC area, which makes her classes of the highest quality. It's almost like she can pinpoint the strengths of different programs and incorporate them into one. She is reliable, inspiring, and genuine. She makes working out fun, and I'm proud to say that I have developed a strong friendship with her in and outside of the gym. I met Liz a few years ago, and have continued to follow her ever since. When Liz moved studios, so did I. She encouraged me to come to the gym and helped me overcome my gym-intimidation. Since I hadn't stepped foot in a workout class in years, I was nervous to be the out of place noob slowing down a group of regulars. She never allowed me to feel this way, and now, I am proud to say I have made a 180 in my fitness journey, which I attribute to her encouragement.

After speaking with the front desk and one of the trainers, they told me to come back in an hour for a trial session where all three kids could experience the program. I asked all the necessary questions--pricing, waivers, schedules, yet at no point did they mention a fee for the tryout class. When I returned for the session they had booked for us, I was suddenly told that I needed to pay $50 per child. This was never communicated to me when I first inquired. I was shocked by the lack of transparency and professionalism. I was genuinely interested in their programs and willing to purchase a package, but this experience completely changed my mind. We live just five minutes away, and this could have been a great opportunity for my children. Unfortunately, due to the disorganization and miscommunication from the staff, they lost a potential long-term customer. Businesses should prioritize honesty and clarity--especially when dealing with families looking for quality programs for their children. Would not recommend based on my experience.

My cousin actually rented out this place for her birthday and it was absolutely amazing. TJ was our trainer for the day and I had fun and burned around 600 calories within the hour (according to my Apple Watch). After that I decided to do the 5 days for $5. Tiffany was my trainer for the trial and once again I had good experiences. Excited to say that I will officially be joining the gym and looking forward to their small class sizes, new equipment and great location.
