I have tried every Mexican food restaurant in Friendswood the past seven years, and I finally found my favorite! All the others were okay (except for one ... Yuck!) but Moreno's in Friendswood tops them all, hands down. We've even tried Mexican food restaurants in the surrounding areas (Pearland, Webster, etc) and Moreno's is still the best by far! My wife and i found this reasturant 2 years ago and we would go sometimes twice a week. The first time we had a excelant waiter Carlos good attitude and very knowledgeable of the menu and would give us good suggestions. We went back a second time had different waiter it was the manager he was horrible service even complained about the tip i left and that struct me as very unprofessional just to add some context we gave him 5 dollar tip for horrible service, but the food was good. So i started to ask the waiter Carlos if he was comfortable telling me his work schedule so i we would go when he was working so when we go i ask specifically for Carlos well. Well i went and Carlos was not working and only had the manager working the one who has a bad attitude we had words so i left. Mind you its just my wife and i but most times the bill was between 40-60 dollars that we spent on average every time we went i did not mind due to the food and the wait staff Carlos and Martha. Customer service was good... I ordered the potato and egg breakfast platter and was pleasantly surprised with homemade tortillas. This took a change when I tasted the beans I thought it was just my taste buds being that I'm pregnant however, I had my husband also try them and he also agreed with me that the beans tasted sour/expired you could even smell something wasn't right. after bringing this to the attention of the waiter, he apologized and didn't do a single thing about it no discount no extra beans nothing.I hate that this experience was ruined from old beans...... read more

I would give this place a zero if I could. I am not one to give in to cancel culture but this restaurant is horrible. I ordered two different times and both times I did not get what I wanted ~ a bowl of queso. I got a big glob of cheese. The second time I went back and I was told it was user error on the website when what I was trying to order is not even offered on their website so I asked the owner to show me on their website where to order a bowl of queso and he told me he was too busy for that. Wow make sure you bring your own salt and seasoning for this tasteless hole in the wall. Not even drinking a top shelf margarita made my food taste even a little better. We walked in to this restaurant not knowing what the food or service would be like, it had a nice decor and the music gave it a very nice feeling, I did notice they had a very large fish tank with only 2 fish we where seated right away, as their where not many people, but I could understand with COVID in all, they gave is complementary chips and salsa although their was one that looked like ranch but didn't really have taste to it but the other salsas where great (1) spicy (1) mild overall great you can really taste the herbs and spices really good in my opinion, I had street tacos (pastol) I have to admit the cilantro was a Little to much, the meat could have been portion equal, some had to much some had to little, I really can't speak much on the waitress and she was not there as much but as we where about to pay my wife asked how the tip worked she proceeded to tell my wife how it all work and explained the the bust boy get 8% if the tip witch got me to thinking how much of the tip do they really get??? First off: I love green sauce. And I'm very picky with most green sauces, but I love Moreno's Salsa Verde. The rest of my family all love the Red Sauce- their favorite in Texas! The sauces might be the the main reason we love this place so much. We try to come here once every 2-3 weeks, and i don't think we've had one bad experience. We've never had to wait for a table, and are usually promptly seated. The staff is friendly, thedrink refills are timely. And the food comes pretty quickly after you order it. My dad *always* gets the pollo loco. It's chicken with sauteed onions on top & comes with beans (my parent's both prefer the charro beans), rice, and pico. My mom likes to try different items on the menu, but she likes the chicken or the spinach quesadillas. I almost always get two bean & cheese chalupas a la carte. (it comes with sour cream and guacamole, which is a nice touch) or the Spinach Enchiladas. And my little brother says you can't go wrong with the regular crispy beef tacos. We absolutely LOVE Morenos! The staff is always knowledgeable and extremely friendly and welcoming. We have been for lunch and dinner. They have great lunch specials and delicious margaritas. They have a delicious avocado salsa that they bring out with the red salsa and chips. My husband loves the Salsa Verde and I love the Salsa Fresca. Just enough spice and plenty of flavor! The first 15 times we shared the Combination Steak & Chicken Fajita Nachos...yummy yummy yummy! We tried this place because it was new and on the way to our ultimate destination. The menu was big, the decor ok, the bathrooms cleanish, better then most. I ordered the Chile Relleno, my wife the chicken enchiladas (1 with sour cream sauce and the other with green tomatillo, 2 sauces is $1 extra, like it is hard to dip from 2 bowls instead of just 1....), my father got some ball of grease and cheese with some onions in it, and my mother the Ixtapa Snapper(translates to smothered in cheese grease and vegetables). The chile rellenos where stuffed with ground beef, of bland flavor and very little cheese, of which they must have accidently put on 2 of the other dishes...lol The waiter was ok, but tea glass was empty 2 times. I was not impressed with the food, I thought it less then average. The atmosphere was not to my liking either,,,lol I noticed that there were little kids everywhere. Even a party of 30 or so to our left, adults at one table and kids left to rule the world at another with no supervision and very long leashes. The bathrooms were fairly clean surprisingly. Final assessment, only go here if a Los Cucos or similar is not within a 45 minute drive...lol I may try again in the future to see if they have better then what we tried, but I won't be driving distance to get there. read more

O.K. I can only speak to one menu item: Moreno's menudo. I know that menudo is not universally loved. That's likely because there's lots of bad menudo to be had, a decent amount of fair-middling, and not a lot of excellent. Bad menudo is, well, really bad. Excellent menudo is exquisite. I was in Moreno's neck of the woods a few months back, and rolled the dice on their menudo. Silky, smooth, well-seasoned, non-chewy, not gamey or greasy, thick with hominy and perfectly done pieces of tripe. Served with a perfect-sized amount of diced onions, cilantro and jalapenos, and a slice of fresh lime. Moreno's serves a perfect rendition in an unexpected location. I now get 4+ quarts to go a week. Easily the best menudo I've had anywhere in Houston, Texas or Mexico. Also: available seven days a week, from opening on. read more

We were only one of two tables in the entire place. I'd like to know what place they were really talking about. Took forever for them to seat us. Regardless of plate, any MExican restaurant I tell them this becasue I really dislike both and don't want them to ruin the good part fo the meal. It came loaded :/ .. Sent it back and not only did they take it off, you could tell new of each was put on, just not at much. Rice didn't have a taste to it and was a bit on the gummy side that night. Salsa was ok. Wasn't made as nice and thick as I would wnjoy, but edible. Waiting on waitstaff to come by to refill drinks or ask for silverware took forever. Again, they basically had no one there that evening and to try to wave someone down.., well it was ridiculous. My daughter said it was a good place. I had breakfast there today with my husband and I found the place to be clean and our waiter was very nice and professional. We both had the beef fajita omelette breakfast and it was very good. Our waiter was sick and sneezing/coughing terribly -- sounds like he's coughing up a lung. He was coughing into the air, I assume to keep from using his hands or sleeve (and therefore needing to wash his hands). I wanted to say something to the manager but my dining cohorts say it would be rude, despite one of them being a cancer patient and therefore with a weakened immune system. So when I was driving home I called and told the manager I noticed my waiter was sick and coughing on my food. The manager assured me they had "been talking about it" and sent him home earlier in the afternoon. I told her "I just left the restaurant five minutes ago so it couldn't have been earlier in the afternoon" and she stuttered and said "oh I meant we just sent him home a few minutes ago". I used to call this place my home and only Mexican place I would eat because of great food and service but now they lost my business. During the check out process I had a $5 off/50% off coupon. It did not say on next visit so I tried to use it and the waiter said it has to be on the next visit. I explain to him that if it does not say that on the coupon then they have to let me use it. He refused to do so. So I went to the manager and asked him. The waiter then came and interrupted the conversation between me and the manager and told the manager that he already told us no.
