Tommaso's is more than a restaurant. It is an experience. Walking in feels like stepping into one of those roadside bars from the movies, where an accidental bump into a biker might start a fight. It certainly looks the part, with its old pool table, neon lights, wood-paneled walls, and a redneck sipping draft beer at the bar. But Tommaso's is much more than that. It has soul. The owner is usually there, greeting everyone with a warm smile and genuine kindness. Daphne, our waitress, was superb. We ate on the patio, and without being asked, she thoughtfully brought water for our little dog. We started with the Cajun shrimp, and it was delicious. It was fresh, spicy, generous, and reasonably priced. The highlight, though, was the pizza. We ordered a large pizza split between two combinations. One side featured the crawfish special with Alfredo sauce, while the other was a supreme topped with anchovies and jalapeños. Wow! The flavors were on another level. their jumbo fried shrimp is now, as of today, my favorite go to!!! family met here months ago during buffet hours and the fried catfish nuggets were the best I've ever had in my three quarters century of living. we were there after lunch hours today so ordered from the extensive menu items. pizza crust was crispy, but next I'll get the veggie or Margarita instead of the Special (had meat). Husband gave it a ten!!! I'd give the pizza a good seven, desiring just a hint of cane sugar in the dough to balance all the salty flavors. crust is perfectly cooked though. it's a drive from our home so definitely a leisurely destination for relaxing enjoyable meal. Food was great to be honest, I picked it up Togo and had a great lunch with the wife.

Our table was dirty and I had to ask the waitress three times to clean it. I asked which beers they had on tap and she told me to go across room to look on the wall. i got the garlic olive oil pasta- she asked which sauce I wanted (?). The food looked horrible on presentation and was super spicy- the description did not say the dish was spicy. When the bill came, my son was charged for a bottle of water. when I questioned her she said that is how they do things there- they give you " water out of the tap" and charge you for a bottle of water. I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED tonight in Tommaso's Italian Grill in Alvin TX. I ordered it delivered & the delivery man is the only nice thing about the experience! I had fried shrimp & onion rings delivered & it was horrible. Cooked way too long & very very close to burnt. At almost $40 for 1meal, I expect the food to be properly cooked. This restaurant used to be really good but if tonight is any indication of how bad this restaurant food was cooked, I would say to stay away from Tommaso's It's very sad because it has been so good in the past. Hmmm..not sure why Tommasos is getting such poor reviews. My husband, mother and I went for dinner. We are moving to the area soon and needed some nosh after spending a day with our builder. We saw an ad posted at the RV park we are staying in and decided to give it a try. This is a small place and you seat yourself. The aromas of Italian food were inviting. It did take a few minutes for the waitress to come over and take our drink order, but she was the only one and the restaurant was over half full. Been there and I know that sucks and its Covid19 so its hard to get help. I ordered the chicken alfredo pizza and my husband ordered a po'boy. It did take a bit for the food to arrive, but I only saw one guy in the kitchen slinging and baking for the entire place. When the food arrived it looked great and smelled better. That pizza was the bomb. The dough light and buttery. Cheesy, garlicky, chicken goodness in the middle. We are looking forward to moving to the area so we can go back. read more

This place is a train wreck. It smells like a busted sewer pipe in one area, so we opted to eat outside. However, our waiter kept forgetting we were out there, so we eventually moved back inside. I ordered the seafood lasagna, but it was disgusting. It's supposed to have different types of seafood in the middle, but instead of fresh pieces, it was all ground up into a thick nasty paste. Nice family friendly small town ambience which is especially nice for Saturday date night. The blooming onion packed tons of flavor and crispness. We had the salty dawg pizza which came with a nice and crispy thin crust and the medium was huge. We added the pineapple and the pepperoni so if you don't like pineapple on your pizza no worries as that is not a standard salty dawg topping. The crawfish is flavorful, we will be back for more. The catfish was pleasantly good,the batter is perfect and it was not greasy. The catfish had a nice buttery texture. We plan on coming back for family dinner. This is our first time here and are surprised at the good quality food at an affordable price. It has that down south home cooking flavor and charm. And the music is on point!! read more

Total disappointment!!! Price was $5.29/lb, if you bought 5 lbs at one time. Otherwise it was $7.29 if ordered 1 lb at a time. Flavor was ok and cleared the hull good. BUT.......what I call 5 lbs is much more than what we got. I swear and be damned it was only 2lbs in that bowl. Potatoes, corn and butter totally extra. Only few were large, most medium. Service sucked the minute we walked in. Waitress was cocky for a woman. Took ever to get our drink order out to us and then both of what we first ordered, we were informed they were out of after waiting for 15 minutes. Then another 15 minutes to get our second choices out to us. Finally we were informed that there was a 90 lb. order ahead of us. It took 35 minutes to get our order of crawfish out to us. Then it came out! I asked the waitress if they bring out the second half later. She tried to get me to believe the 2lbs she just brought out was 5lbs. I let her know of our disgust. I have been coming here for about 3 years or more, not regularly but at least several times a year during crawfish season. I am a crawfish critic and have tried them all over the south, and I do like Tomasso's crawfish boil. They don't overcook them, and the seasoning is mild enough where you can enjoy 5 lbs. without needing a replacement digestive system because fo the red pepper. The wait staff has always seemed friendly and the beer is always cold. If you have a chance to hear some music while here on the bar side then do so. I haven't made it up here on my Harley yet but it is on the "to do" list. I will be honest, I know they make pizza and italian food but I haven't tried any - I just go for the crawfish and beer :) I may next time though. I definitely will be back. Only a few items were not on target, seems like every time I visit the bathroom is dirty and out of paper towels/a way to dry hands. I was completely unhappy with the whole experience. Salad bar was a joke. The iced tea was warm and tasteless. We ordered stuffed shrimp. Gross! Which means 3 items, correct ? I only received two. Cannelloni and manicotti. For some unknown reason I did not receive lasagna on my plate. But that's fine, I could barely eat what I got. Decided to try out a new place we had never been. Food was very bland and basic. Looked and tasted like the type of food your kid would make if you decided to let them cook dinner to humor them. Cheese bread appetizer was just french bread with melted cheese on it. Not bad but not really something you'd expect to get at a restaurant. Papa John's cheesesticks are significantly better. Girlfriend got a beer and a crawfish pizza, did not like the pizza and said the beer (the brand she always drinks) tasted weird. I ordered the Chicken Parm Sub (9.99) but was instead given a plate of Chicken Parm with Spaghetti (15.99). I did not like it either nor was that what I wanted. Salad Bar that came with my Chicken Parm I didn't order was very bland and not fresh looking. The servers were all slow to their tables because they were too busy sitting at a table in the dining room with eachother. Employees were pretty unprofessional, heard a lot of cuss words in the dining area and shouting across the restaurant to eachother, not that I care about cuss words but I'm sure some of the families with children may not have appreciated that. The employees were playing a few very sexual songs despite the children present. Needless to say, $63 (for 2 people) later, and I highly regret my decision to try something new. I feel that this restaurant would not survive very long literally anywhere other than a small town like Alvin, which has next to no good places to eat. read more

As long as I have lived in the area this is my first time in. I wanted some crawfish and that's what I received, 5 lbs to be exact with shrooms added on. I was expecting 10 or so shrooms but only 6 made it to us. Not enough as they were delicious. It's early so wasn't expecting anything giant. They were nicely seasoned medium to large crawfish. On one note though, there were quite a few pre dead crawlies that were not edible. Not the best but definitely worth the stop. My son wanted pizza, so a medium cheese pizza it was. I quickly stole a piece and the pizza was really good. Crust had the perfect amount of pull to it. Overall Tommaso's was a nice spot to hang out and enjoy some good food. This review tears me in half. I like the pizza here... and I've had 5lbs of crawfish here before... it was awsome!!! But I showed up one evening for the crawfish with a friend, so we ordered 3lbs each... the waitress showed up with a small stainless steel bowl that had about 1 1/2 pounds in it... we argued but got nowhere... we got ripped off for sure. Pizza, Gumbo (Chicken/Sausage & Seafood combo), and Shrimp PoBoy were all amazing. It's great to have a hometown Italian Bistro continue to serve the community. 40 years in business and still making Pizzas Fly. Gumbo had plenty to eat and filled me up with one bowl. In the past, it would have taken an entire pot of gumbo to feed this appetite. Sad to see the dinner buffet go and delivery no longer being offered due to staffing issues. If you want pizza in the Alvin/Friendswood/Pearland area, this is the place to go. Nice family owned restaurant. The owner Sal is a great guy and takes care of his customers. What? An pizza place run by a guy named Sal? Now I understand why the pizza is so good. They have added a bar and patio and now have some beers like Saint Arnold and Abita in bottles, so you don't have to drink stuff from Bud, Miller, Coors.. though they have most of those also. I sure wanted to like this place. It had a small town feel to it and a nice looking menu. I ordered some fettuccine Alfredo that came with a trip to the salad bar. The salad bar had some iceberg lettuce, watery ranch dressing, a couple of toppings and flies everywhere. The fettuccine treated like it had been stored in the fridge. It definitely want fresh and had an off taste. My husband's got the chicken fried steak but it was a frozen patty that had been heated. In his words, "It sucked. GREAT FRIED CATFISH!?! Just like the menu said. And the pizza, wow! My wife loved her California Pasta, and Alice's ravioli was delicious. Stuffed jalapenos were OK, but over all I really like this nice down home, local feeling, family friendly sports bar and grill. My experience had been picking up fab pizza's to go, but I'll go back for the sit down now that I know what's there. Had a sharp waiter, Alan, who was noteworthy, and Sal puts the right touch on things for my taste.
