Italian bread the way it was suppose to be made. It's one of those Brooklyn classic that has been untouched by time. The store and recipes haven't changed since they've opened. They don't have a website or any social media but they stay in business because they have the best bread in all of Brooklyn. If I'm home I buy two packs of the breadsticks to take with me to friends in the west coast. My advice is to go early!!!!!! They'll be all sold out by 11am (or sooner if it's a weekend). The staff are friendly and super speedy. The line will be out the door and you'll still make it through in 10-15 mins cause the counter staff is moving so fast. It's a small shop but you really aren't in there for long. If you're looking for pastries pair with your bread you can pop into Aliatto's next door. read more

They sell the most delicious bread I have ever experienced. And I can live on bread. Most of the employees are pleasant; one, definitely not. The last time I went there was on a Sunday. I arrived at 11:40AM. They were out of bread. Completely. Open till 3PM and out of bread at 11:40. A bread store. Like I mentioned, this was the LAST time I went there. read more

Yum yum yum Italian bread! Warmed in the oven with butter and garlic? Even better. Tastes just like the fancy Italian bread you get at an Italian restaurant. Hot tip: Key Food carries it in their bread area if you are not near the bakery. read more

This place has some of the best bread near my by a longshot, easily the best bread dedicated bakery I've ever been to. The food is stupid cheap ($5 for two loaves), the service is quick and the employees are very passionate. Place is also very quiet on account of no one going there, which sucks because the bread is high quality and tastes great. Extremely underrated place if you're in the Midwood area. The buttercream here is like no other! Come for a dream cake and make sure to try the biscuits and the bread. The owner is the sweetest lady and the staff has always been so helpful. My favorite is the funfetti dream cake with buttercream. We decided to branch out and try the Nutella dream cake and guess what? That was amazing too. read more

5 hours ago NEW I ordered a baby cake for a gender reveal. I am the dad. I pick it up and they tell me the filling confirming my child's gender. I was visually upset and said what the heck. I ordered 3 baskets of cookers for thanks giving which cist 150 total (50 each ). Not an apology not a discount nothing at all. Full price cookies full price cake. I probably would not have taken the discount but this is not cool. Took the joy and excitement out my heart . Cake is great pastry are yummy but this sucks. I'm sitting in my car so down and just in a bad mood. You ruined my entire day. I ordered a gender renewal cake to be surprised with the family not to be told in advance. And no sort of compensation not even a sorry cookoe. Not cool. If you reading this as a client the food is delicious all baked fresh but I as a father have to write this review so the owners know this is not cool and should not happen again. read more

Moretti is a rarity: an excellent nieghborhood bread bakery. The place is very small and doesn't look like much. But walking by in the morning, you will know it by the smell of freshly baked bread. The amount of varieties here is impressive for a place off the beaten path, with everything from baguettes to Taralli to topped foccacia to rye bread to poppy seed rolls. My favorite is the lard bread; if they have this when it's fresh out of the oven in the morning, get it. The fattiness of the pork will be perfectly melted into the bread like fresh butter. It's the best lard bread I've every had. More often than not though, I just grab a loaf of Italian bread. If you live nearby, don't sleep on this one. It's right up to par with Il Fornaretto, Addeo's, and other top Italian bread bakeries in the city. I've been coming since I was little and still make the trek from time to time. read more

I was in the neighborhood and needed some baked goods, although they didn't have pastries I wanted to try the bread. I checked yelp and saw good reviews on the Italian Bread here so I stopped in and got 2 loafes, one seeded and one unseeded. Definitely not a disappointment. I went around noon and everything was still so fresh. I would return if I'm in the neighborhood again. read more

It's nice to get down to Mill Basin. Sometimes I wonder why I ever wanted to move back to Brooklyn. All these nostalgia fetishists. All these $14 Sazeracs. All these dumb fedoras. All these 65-year-old dads pushing $750 strollers. When faced with an existential crisis of this nature, begin with a place like Moretti. I know there persists a mythology that Brooklyn lacked tastebuds and culinary awareness until the arrival of the bearded missionaries from Grinnell and the Culinary Institute of America. Now the scales have been lifted from our eyes, and we know that we can eat tallow, marrow, and duck fat all in the same meal, especially if we throw in a few ramps. But Moretti is what Brooklyn's always done. And it's better than what a lot of the new bread magicians are doing. Without preservatives, in the brick oven, and without charging you through the nose for the artisanal pretensions. Delicious semolina bread. Sure you could pay 300% more for the stuff that comes with the master baker's heartfelt thoughts on Eastern asceticism. And sure, Moretti, doesn't offer you congratulations for having the common sense to eat a bread that's made simply, of simple, real ingredients (they do tell you how to make a "cheese hero"). But it is damn good bread. read more

I've been eating this bread since I emerged from the womb, and it's still the best. It's simple and amazing, and now that I live in AZ, I bring an extra duffel bag that I fill with their italian twist and fly home. That's not a joke - you should see the look on the faces of airport security; they think I'm insane, but I don't care. Best bread in Brooklyn. Srsly. read more

My favorite place whenever I'm off to granny's house. I've been eating here since HS. Always fresh always nice. You can order cakes for the holidays. That's the only time its truly busy. While you wait they feed you with little samples, definitely a win. My grandma always gets the bread. The BEST Baked Italian Bread in New York. I have been buying my bread from Moretti's for over 35 years and it is Unsurpassed. I have since moved away but when I visit I cannot leave without stocking up on Sicilian Twist and Fish loaves. I either pack light or bring an extra luggage so I can get it all home on the plane. Get there early especially on the weekends cause the Twist bread goes fast. I hope this Brooklyn tradition lives on for many years. read more

One of the only places left in this neighborhood to get a good Italian loaf. Good twist bread and great bread sticks. The people are nice and the place has been here longer then I can remember. Hands down the best bread in Brooklyn. From plain italian to stuffed broccoli rabe and olive bread this place cannot be beat. Go early on the weekends to get the limited amounts of their speciality breads including: the two mentioned above, lard bread, focacce, irish soda bread, scones and cinnamon rasin bread. People who frequent here are serious about their bread so get in and get some! read more

My grandfather was the original owner and sold to the Moretti's around 1962 or 1963. When my grandfather opened it and owned it the bakery was called Marino's. Still looks the same on the outside. I was recently there! There is an old fire pull station on the corner that my mom had most of her pictures in front of. They lived upstairs from the bakery! read more

Excellent bread all around. The regular staples are really perfect. Get the semolina or Italian bread. The special breads are also good--lard and broccoli rabe breads. Worth a trip to Mill Basin, if you don't live nearby. read more
