Our job consisted of pulling up rooms of old carpet as well as an old kitchen hardwood floor, and replacing it all with 3/4" engineered wood from a Canadian company called Mirage. Elite's quote for materials and labor was not the most expensive nor the least, but when going through our house, Aleksey thought of questions, spotted issues, AND thought of solutions that no one else had asked about or even noticed. He was also the only one who told us that he could carefully remove our elaborate wooden baseboards without breaking most or all of them. Every other place simply said we would likely need to replace it all. As a result, their pricing was actually lower than anyone else if you take into account the cost we saved by not having to replace one single piece of baseboard. He was meticulous, measuring three times before ordering materials just to make sure he got the numbers right. Installation went smoothly and included work like grinding down areas of our foundation that were not smooth, moisture testing, coating of the slab with a moisture barrier, etc. They also made sure they installed the wood in a manner that will allow the kitchen appliances to be removed without damaging the floor, when the time comes that they need to be replaced. Again, no one else we spoke with even mentioned any of this. There were transitions between floorings of some rooms that were at different heights. For some of the areas, Aleksey did not care for the off the shelf transitions that companies sell. Instead, he and his crew crafted their own transition pieces & thresholds that looked beautiful and did the job. Far more elegant and unintrusive. They did the same for the transitions between stone surrounding fireplaces and one bathroom. Everything was carefully thought through. The guys showed up at 8 AM and sometimes worked until 5 or 6 pm if they were trying to get certain things done. They were professional, knowledgeable, friendly, polite and cleaned up after themselves. Communication with Aleksey was always good. Elite Hardwood & Flooring is not simply an installation company. They are craftsmen that take a great deal of pride in their work and the results show it. We could not be happier with the job they did and highly recommend them. Aleksey was able to provide me a quote over the phone and shortly after came over to take measurements. We had roughly 500 square feet that need to be refinished and it took a total of 3 days. I was super impressed with the finished work! One of the reason I enjoyed working with aleksey and Igor is because they also took a consultative approach and gave suggestions to help me find a stain that would work best for what I wanted to achieve. Would recommend!

When I mentioned my urgency in getting the job scheduled, Long managed to fit me in right away even on short notice. In just three days, my old floors looked brand new. The crew did outstanding work repairing four different areas with severe stains, scratches, and water damage -- achieving an excellent color and finish match that seamlessly integrates with the existing flooring. You'd never know where the damage was. I'm super happy with the quality, attention to detail, professional workmanship, and how smoothly the whole process went. Amazing Hardwood Floors is an easy recommendation for any flooring needs!"

I found Long and his brother through Yelp earlier this year when searching for hardwood floor…read morerestoration for a rental house. Other installers took one look at the floors and immediately started raising their quotes by two or three-fold. I get it, with 15+ years of student tenant wear and tear, this was not going to be an easy job in the slightest. However, Long, to his credit, did not try and take me or my mother for a ride for his own financial gain. Not only did his quote come in the lowest of all of them, he was also able to start the soonest. He finished in exactly the amount of time he quoted and made these extremely beaten up floors look brand new. His restoration work made all the difference when we put the house back on the rental market. We were able to attract a whole category of kind of tenant. Fingers crossed, the much less destructive kind. We have since asked him back to lay down vinyl flooring and he did an impeccable job. Will gladly call him again for all future work we need. He does excellent work, is great at communicating, and an all around lovely guy!

After comparing…read morefour different contractors along the SF Peninsula, Peninsula Hardwood Floors completely stood out from the pack. When making our final decision, we narrowed it down to three strict criteria, and Peninsula checked every single box: Business Proximity: They are located just 20 minutes from our home so minimal traffic influence. Family-Owned & Operated: Knowing that Joel (the founder), Juan, and the rest of the crew are family gave us peace of mind. It ensured good work relationships, seamless communication, and absolutely nobody dropping the ball or pointing fingers. Bona Factory Trained & Certified: They were the only company we interviewed whose technicians were officially trained and certified by Bona, which was an advantage for us. Their quote was within 10% of others, and the actual execution was without any problems. Juan handled the estimate professionally while in uniform, and once the project kicked off, Joel and his team were meticulous. They draped everything, utilized dust-containment vacuum systems, and used specialized lighting to ensure a totally smooth finish without swirls or other marks. They hit their completion timeline exactly as promised--wrapping up the heavy sanding, sealing, and three total coats right on schedule, and even coming back to help us move our heavy furniture back into place. It has been three weeks since they finished, and we are absolutely thrilled with our beautiful, rejuvenated floors. If you want excellent work, accurate timelines, and a responsible family team that takes real pride in their craftsmanship, we highly recommend Juan, Joel, and the whole crew! We will definitely be calling them again for future projects.

This is a very delayed review- I had my hardwood floors redone by Peninsula Floors last year, but I…read morestill find myself thinking about the experience so I decided it might be helpful to others to share. The bottom line is that the bulk of the work was good, I'm overall satisfied with the results, and am glad that we got the floors refinished. However, there were several details about the experience that would make me hesitate to recommend Peninsula to friends or others looking to redo their floors. - I was initially quoted ~7-8 working days to redo the floors. The initial work actually took closer to 13 working days, and it took another 7 working days on top of that to complete followup items after I reviewed the initial work. To be fair, I was traveling for about 5 of those working days during some of the initial work and probably caused a bit of delay in my own responses being slow, but I also don't think that all of the delay was due to myself. - When provided stain samples, I was initially provided the wrong names corresponding to the samples. This was only noticed because I asked for another set of samples in another area of the house and was confused as to why the colors varied so much, and asked about it- otherwise it's very possible I would have selected a completely different color than what I intended. - There was some damage done by the sander to our metal stair railing, which they did patch up with paint, but it's still visible where the damage was. Also, initially only some of the stairs in the home had the scotia trim replaced- when I asked the ones where the previous paint clearly showed they also used to have trim, they just added it to all of the stairs regardless of which ones did or didn't have it before. There was also a tricky area in a closet that I said I would be okay not refinishing, and instead it was sanded but not refinished due to not being able to get into that area- I would have just preferred the initial topcoat wasn't removed in that case, because that area is now just unprotected wood. None of these details were mentioned to me or provided as project updates until I asked about them. - Lastly, after I had sent the final payment through, I realized some of our doorstops were missing after having been removed from the trim to not get in the way of the sanders. I asked where the team may have left them so I could reattach them and got no response. It's not a big deal, they were less than $5, but later, after moving in, I also asked about if there were cleaning/maintenance products they would recommend and also got no response. Being completely ghosted after having dealt with some of the difficulties mentioned above really left me feeling like they totally wrote me off as a customer and was not a pleasant way to end the project. I think they do decent work, but I suspect they're a bit stretched thin and smaller/less important jobs are not supervised as much and don't seem like they have the same quality bar. If I were to do it again, I feel like I would have been happier supervising more closely from the start. Edit- I appreciate Juan's response (below and privately), however I do want to make clear that not everything was addressed as I was told they would be. For example, for the incompletely sanded and unfinished area of the closet I mentioned above, I was told it would at least have some form of finish applied, which never happened. There were a few other details like this, but at some point it was no longer worth my time to chase them down especially as we were getting close to our move in which we initially thought we would have far more buffer for.
