Our first time in this location, the staff were friendly cashing out and the security man at the door. Clean location. The reason for my rating being a 3* is because the store was terribly disorganized. No sizing in clothing or shoes, I was surprised by both, but the shoes to be just all tossed together made no sense to me. We passed up looking at any of those aisles just for the insanity of it. Also, MANY people were in the store AND absolutely no social distancing was going on. To the point that many people were pushing or cutting other people off to look at items. The prices are not consistent. The items are marked, but prices can change if they realize that it a name brand at the register. I thought this was illegal. The prices are very high, so the dollar store, Target and Marshall are my go to stores now. The prices are the same for better or a bit higher. Goodwill, please do better! Huge place with a lot of stuff. We were leaving the Boston area and my daughter said that she wanted to stop here. We wound up finding quite a bit of stuff. There were new tourist t-shirts, name brand women's clothing and shoes. You have to want to dig but you can find some good stuff. You have to be a good bargain hunter to want to do this, but hey, it's fun. read more

NOT AN OUTLET. Huge goodwill, selection is incredible & prices are reasonable. However, I came here expecting an outlet....this is not an outlet. Just a normal goodwill store. I read some reviews and laughed! A few years ago antique dealers would push you out of the way to get their treasure! But since there is not as many hard goods , ie collectible items, I have not seen these savages! I used to find great furniture etc. maybe people are selling on line and save things vs donate! I don't see product being put out, everything has shrunk! I come every once In awhile because those savages go to my area thrift store! The prices if you see the discount posted when you get in are great! If you go to other places this place is great! Go to other thrift stores and you will laugh! I really wish I would've read the reviews before I had come to this store: the fact multiple customers are complaining that there are cashiers purposely raising the prices of items that don't have price tags on them. If they're going to do that then they shouldn't be able to have signs saying prices of the items if they're going to just make up their own prices. It's sad that a purchase that should have been less than $200 was more than $230 because the cashier wanted to overcharge on items. This will be the last time I shop at this goodwill since they want to make their own prices. I'm really hoping other goodwill don't do this, if not I'll stick to savers that stick to the prices they have and they don't change the prices when you go to the front. read more

Before I start I would like to make a few things clear. I am a re-seller and have been shopping here on and off for years and will continue to do so. Here's the rundown of the Outlet. The outlet can be found by going to a side door by the Roxbury Goodwill. It is where all the unsold wares from various Goodwill's go once they've reached their shelf life as well as items that for one reason or another were not even sent to the retail stores. Prices for the most part are very low, however a lot of the time the final price is up to the the cashier, so a broken Playstation may be a dollar or ten when checking out. The store is a large room filled with various bins of clothing, footwear and other goods with mostly re-sellers spending a good portion of their day shopping. Note that this is a cash only establishment. Over the course of the day wares are continuously brought out, when this happens there is usually a lot of pushing grabbing and shoving, if you do not like your physical space being violated you should not come here. I have seen people shoved to the floor, fingers broken and have been injured myself here on a few occasions. If you make too much a fuss for being pushed around you may get kicked out. Due to the nature of the outlet, things can be quite dirty, smelly and just gross(sometimes you pick something up and it has that gooey feel to it and you really do not want to know what you just grabbed). However, there is also plenty of new with tags merchandise, so it's really just a game of chance if something is new in box or is going to make the whole place smell like cat pee. Many of the re-sellers do not speak English and may spontaneously shout at you in Spanish or Haitian Creole, again this can be unnerving but mostly they are just after merchandise and are probably trying to take something from you. On safely at the Outlet: as you shop be weary of ice skates, broken glass, battery acid and other health hazards in the bins, on occasion there is rotting food. This is due to unopened donation boxes sometimes going straight to the outlet which is a double edged sword as you never know what's in a mystery box! As a fyi some of the employees wear dust mask and most wear gloves. The main exit and entrance is a narrow hallway which often gets blocked, as I have seen a rag fire here that was thankfully put out, I can confidently say that if there ever was a serious fire in the Outlet it would not go well. SO here is my score rundown 5 stars for having lots of super cheap merchandise that is frequently brought out. -1 star for being a fire trap. -1 Star for not taking Credit or Debit Cards. -1 star for having to look out for broken glass or other hazards when you are going through any sort of bin. -3 stars for having to deal with physical abuse if you want to get at the fresh stuff. -1 star for there often being crying babies being ignored or little kids going through bins of sharp objects. That's my take on the outlet, there are other safer outlets in other parts of the country(ME and RI). If you want stuff cheap and can disregard your personal safety this is fine place to shop, for everyone else: ignore this place. read more

Wow. This place is weird, smelly, maybe even dangerous. Multiple times I've been in here I've witnessed near fist-fights when the new stuff is wheeled out, a feeding frenzy, people elbow each other, even one crazy guy yelling WHOO HOOO like he was at a rodeo. Sometimes the place stinks of stale urine (and tons of air freshener desperately trying to cover it up.) Plus I've cut myself on broken glass in the hampers, where everything is just thrown in randomly, so stuff gets broken, board games pop open and spill all the pieces at the bottom, paintings have skis or lamps sticking through the canvas. Sad. And it's mostly junk too. I keep hoping I will find something nice or valuable but it's 99% garbage that didn't sell in the regular store. read more

Just donated several hundred dollars worth of books, clothing, camping equipment, tapes and games. Attendant at the trailer outside the Harrison Ave store most ungracious, almost rude. I asked for the return of the tubs and containers (seven or eight). "Don't you have bags?" I found one bag in the car and filled it with toys and games from a few tubs . I did get the tubs and containers back So if you donate things in containers, don't expect a thank you or a smile. read more

The prices at this location is outrageous. They price the donated items as if it's a boutique. I am hesitant to donate my items to Goodwill if they are not going to price them reasonably so the vast amount of folks who shop here can afford them. read more

While in Boston for the hubster's work conference, I was exploring the city a bit and this place was fairly close to our hotel. As it was lovely weather, I walked. Upon arrival, I found the place to be well-laid out, with items categorized by color and type. The fitting room was big enough but the doors don't close v well, so be thoughtful about that. As other reviewers mentioned, this place has a great selection of name-brand items, like J Crew, Donna Karan (not DKNY, either), Banana Republic, Pink Tartan, etc. Bought my husband three shirts ($4 a piece), a pair of gorgeous brown leather-soled wingtips ($12), a pair of Eddie Bauer shorts ($3), and a cotton Gap jacket ($5) along with a couple of wool sweaters ($3) and a cotton top ($2) for me. Total score! There was a line at the check out but it moved along fairly quickly. Next time I'm in Boston, I'll be visiting this place again. read more

i truly wish i could give this place 0 stars if possible by the way, the store doesn't close at 6 like advertised, you're only allowed to shop until about 5:30 until you start getting chased down and literally yelled at to go to the register. i had 2 "employees" following my boyfriend and i around and every corner we would take they would pop up in front of us, shooing us saying "you need to be in line, you need to be in line !" then one told the other "if you want to shop, come earlier"..... you don't close for another 30 minutes, there's barely a line and i came in for a quick tee shirt for my boyfriend and i flight in the morning. disgustingly rude so called "employees", trust me, any local walmart will be better. read more

Can't beat the prices. It is an outlet store so it's always going to be dirty and funky but for the price you can't complain

Be warned: this goodwill outlet is an experience. You have to go into it with an open mind (and hand sanitizer or gloves). Everything is in bins, so you sort through it with your hands. There's zero guarantee that you'll come out of this store with anything that you like and fits, but it is SUPER CHEAP. There are only three prices: $3 for coats, $1.75 for any article of clothing, and $3.50 for a pair of shoes. Both times I've been here, I've gotten great items for a really reasonable price, but I did hunt through bins for a couple hours. I just bought a pair of sweatpants, two blazers, two dresses, a pair of shoes, and a book for $14. A couple of those items were even from the Banana Republic. My tip would be to look for prints, patterns, or fabrics that you like. Pull out those items and try them out, but there is no dressing room, so you may not know about some items. read more

I totally understand that this is not a place to browse and shop. This is a place where you have to fight to get to the bottom of a bin to find a treasure. Which I didn't. After having a very angry woman throw a ton of clothes onto the bin I was physically digging in, for the 10th time, I had had enough. You. Have. To. Be. EXTREMELY. Patient. Otherwise you will bug out on someone. There are children screeching everywhere. You are being yelled at in at least 3 different languages. Stuff is truly filthy. But alas this is what you sign up for when you enter the outlet store. After digging for an hour with my mother (she found a bunch of stuff she liked) I decided to just head next door to the retail store. The items in the outlet are cheap. I did manage to snag a Harris Tweed coat for $3. But it takes all the energy and strength in your forearms to find some goodies. If you are in the mood to get dirty for the possibility of treasure then this is your type of place. If you prefer to shop calmly I don't recommend it. read more

I have shopped this location for decades and made the most incredible finds. I have furnished alot of my kitchen from their amazing pots and pans and love their clothes as well. That is why I am concerned about the recent customer service from the floor staff. A couple months ago I stopped by a half hour before closing and headed to the housewares but was immediately told the store was closing and I needed to get in line, pretty much yelled at to leave. I got in line and the store was emptied 15 minutes before closing. Today I was sorting through a rather full cart and the worker several aisles over yelled from a distance 'dont leave that there' and after telling her several times I was deciding on what to buy... she physically approached me an angrily put an item in my cart... which was frightening. I stayed another hour or so but was uncomfortable going to the back of the store where she stood around with other workers swearing loudly and pointing at various customers. I think she is a bully who has intimidated the other staff there maybe even the manager is afraid of her but she made it a miserable place to be. I know that work place bullies can RUIN a place for the customers and other workers alike and I hope the manager there will protect people. read more

This "store" is a large room with many bins of unsorted clothes, shoes, home items and books. Cheap, but you'll have to be wiling to dig thru the bins, which is work. Wear rubber gloves or bring hand sanitizer, if you are sensitive to any sort of schmutz. I've found a fabulous Italian leather croc embossed tote that easily would have gone for $500 new, and Prada, Zara, Free People, and truly excellent 2 ply cashmere. I have to say, the people-staff and customers- you encounter here and at the main store next door(-where everything has been sorted and placed on shelves and hangers-)are what you will find everywhere else in Boston; you meet what you yourself are. "Roxburians" is a racist term to describe the black and Hispanic people of the neighborhood who shop here. They are no more rude or hostile as any white people anywhere else in this city or in the store for that matter. If someone is digging through the shoe bin, just use what manners you may have left and let them finish, or try not to encroach on their space. Shoes are a super hot item, particularly for women, and women have been known to get very grabby about it; I've met with greater hostility whilst shoe shopping at Bergdorf's in Manhattan. If you act like a bitch, you will receive what you put out. And if you basically feel venturing into a Goodwill is lowering or demeaning yourself in any way and you know you will enter with an attitude... stick to Garment District, Boomerang in Central Square or Buffalo Exchange in Davis Square, where very likely they get their stuff from Goodwill and mark it up for college 'hipsters" to purchase in a place where they will only see others like them. Poor people shop here. Many of them are black or Latino. If you have a problem with that, don't come here. Simple. Easy. read more

First things first: this is a place to get CHEAP STUFF. I was on the prowl for home goods so I can't speak to the quality of the clothing section, but the home goods section was SO good. I got five pieces of wall art, a set of plates, a mug, an organizing rack, 10 records, etc etc for $7! It was the end of the day, the cashier seemed to like me, and it was my first time there, so I can't compare prices to any other time I've been. As other reviewers stated, bring hand sanitizer. I might bring a glove next time too. Every other shopper I encountered was extremely pleasant! This place is a must if you're looking for cheap stuff and willing to dig a little for it. All the reviews are true. Bring gloves and santizer. Shoe bins r dirty-- muddy boots, hours to find the second pair of shoes, smelly damp sneakers. Clothes bin r a mix-- dirty underwear, extra small or extra large clothes, free t shirts. Household bins-- the materials here r sometimes more expensI've than actual store. Yes, broken dishes sometimes will end up here. Pricing sometimes depend on the mood of the cashier. Due to the population there, they think nothing about cutting u in line or cursing u out. I am from PA and our Goodwill Outlet charges by the pound - much better! The bins in PA are waist high and only about a foot deep. That is wonderful because the bins in Boston are so deep that the bottom 1/3 is impossible to reach! There was a LOT of broken glass in Boston - PA puts most glass things in a separate bin - less breakage. The regulars have a way of lining up for the "new" goods and they box other people out. They are seasoned and aggressive. If you don't have the guts or elbows - don't bother coming here if you want to get in on the "new" bins. The prices do NOT display at the check out. You don't know what you are being charged for an item (wares) unless you ask for every item or you question your sales receipt. I don't like that it is up to the cashier to determine the price you pay. She may be having a bad day and you end up getting skunked. I dug to the bottom (my husband was holding me by my ankles!) and found what I though was a beaded napkin ring. The cashier took it from me and said she couldn't sell it to me because it was jewelry. Why not? A sale is a sale is a sale! By the way, the cashier I had was about as friendly as a snake. If you don't like your job working with people - go do something else and stop ruining my experience! I would say that this Boston Goodwill Outlet was just OK. I found the shoppers overly aggressive and the people who work the floor very unfriendly. Yes, it is dirty, so put on your little gloves and drown yourself in sanitizer if that makes you feel better.
