Both the owner and the foreman kept me up to date daily before their crew went to work. They cleaned up everything at the end of each day. I was nervous about replacing my roof but Kelly helped me understand all the aspects of what goes into re-roofing, costs and customer service. We have used Moriarty's for one small gutter project and most recently for an entire new roof, some gutters, and gutter guards. Everyone is a breeze to work with and very kind. The office staff is easy to reach and explains everything very well. The crew worked long and hard and our roof looks beautiful. We were in a time crunch due to insurance and we are so grateful they fit us in. They came in at the middle of the pack price-wise but after they did such a great job at our neighborhoods house we were happy to use them. Would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone, they get the job done right. We had a few small hiccups but they were quick to address them and make everything right. Very honest company. I hired Moriarty's Roofing to diagnose a leak from my deck into my garage. I showed their representative the exact area where the water was entering. Despite this, I was told the deck was not the issue and was advised to replace the gutters instead. I relied on that diagnosis and paid $2,455.84 for a full gutter replacement. The leak continued unchanged. On a follow-up visit, Moriarty's own superintendent identified the real source, a failed deck surface membrane, within minutes, in the same location I had originally pointed out. This made it clear that the initial inspection and diagnosis were inadequate and that the gutter replacement was unnecessary for the problem I called about. Rather than acknowledging the misdiagnosis, the company fell back on contract language and "limited scope" explanations. I was left with the original leak and thousands of dollars spent on work that did not address it. If you need a contractor to accurately diagnose a leak and stand behind their recommendations, I would LOOK ELSEWHERE. read more

We just had our gutters replaced and could not be happier with Moriarty's service throughout. We got several bids, and they stood apart with a prompt and organized bid and schedule. As the time approached we had several email and phone (from Lizzy) reminders - which was very organized. Today, the crew (Umberto and Alex) came to install. They did very clean work and were very efficient. Also, I called the bidder (David) was able to give me a quick perimeter linear foot calculation of our total gutter length so we could order gutter guards. My last review was in 2023. I am STILL paying the price for the crap job this company did on my roof. I cannot stress enough that you should stay away from these.. people. I wish I could sue them, but by the time I realized what they had done, it was too late.("Not our problem. It was subcontracted and we CAN'T REMEMBER who did the job." I paid THEM. There was no separate bill for the gutter installation. My foundation is now compromised. The gutters were far too small (this is Boulder Creek, for chrissakes!) and made of steel rather than aluminum. The entire span has rotted out. This winter lead to a few leaks on our roof. I reached out to Moriarty's to get a quote and see if it was super bad or just needed some patch work. We had Steve come out to take a look at it. What a great guy! He walked us through everything and took a look at all the different parts of our roof. I always look for honest companies that will do a good job. We had a leaking skylight. We were quoted $570 for them to come out plus $110 per worker per hour plus materials. There was 2 workers for1 hr. The bill came to 1720. They claimed it was 3hrs of work. When we asked for a explanation of the bill and specifically asked if they charged for drive time we were told they don't. Apparently they charge for drive time and caulking costs over $500. I will never recommend or use them again read more

During this past weeks' storms, my roof needed repairing TWO times in TWO weeks! Moriarty's came out the day I called them and did all the repairs. Here's the kicker--they cleaned up my yards!!! Both front and back yard were blown clean so that I could actually SEE my bricks and patio! lol...I came home and was shocked to see my clean yards in all the mess out there. And they did a fabulous job of fixing the roof, and replacing a skylight that had been slammed by a large redwood limb! They're friendly, have an impeccable work ethic, take such good care of their clients, and they added that bonus of cleaning my yards (and they are not small yards!). I highly recommend Moriarty's for anyone looking for an excellent roofing job. Oh, and did I say that they replaced the entire roof in the Summer? They got back to me quickly with a quote. They repaired my gutters and came back to do something they missed because I wasn't at home to let them in the house the day they did the exterior repairs. I didn't go with these guys. I had to go with someone who was a bit cheaper, but I'm still giving them 5 stars. Kelly came out to give me an estimate. He's a genuine guy with a good smile. Felt comfortable chatting with him. I got 5 roof estimates and he gave me the best, most comprehensive explanation of what he was going to do and gave me the best suggestions of what to do with my unique roof situation. No one else explained things as best as he did, nor spent as much time. I believe you get what you pay for. I had limited funds and couldn't afford the best (so I'm rolling the dice with someone who was a bit cheaper) but I'm smart enough, and experienced enough with houses (did my own remodel of my home), to know when someone offers quality and I think Moriarity is probably the best around. read more

Quick Details: Project Completion date: April 2014 Project Size: 3bd/2ba home, 1390 sq ft Roof Size: unknown, make judgements based on above Project Scope: Entire Re-Roof, Sun Tunnel Insulation, dry-rot repair/replacement, and gutter replacement Oh lord, I'm terrified to let the secret out, but these guys really deserve more than one stellar review on Yelp. Look no further: 5 STAR SERVICE, & 5 STAR QUALITY!! Kelly and team are amazing. They have no shortage of work, as their service and product are outstanding, and word of mouth keeps these guys busy. We called Kelly per our contractor's recommendation, as we needed an entire re-roof for our 20 year roof that previous owners used the cheapest materials for, making it more like a 10 year roof (we've been here for 7 years now). The roof was peeling, and the shingles were actually disintegrating into dust, and fabric. We discovered this only after pulling a ceiling in a vaulted room to install can lights, only to find evidence of leaks from previous year's rain storms. Additionally, these owners installed galvanized gutters, which rusted, and leaked, needing to be replaced (pretty much like everything else in this house!). We originally called a couple other large roofing companies in the area, only one of which actually sent someone out to look at our project. They were nice enough, and helpful, but once we met Kelly, there was no going back! Kelly was about the same price as the big roofing company (an entire re-roof isn't cheap), but the service was what made the difference. Initially, Kelly came by on a weekday when we were away, and measured for the bid. I had the bid in my email that afternoon. Then, just to check in (as I was lagging on replying) Kelly called, and asked to stop by, with his office assistant to go over our roof choice, and gutter choice. Since my husband and I both work full time, we could only meet on a Saturday, and that was no big deal for them. They came out the next Saturday morning, buttoned up the last details of the project, and got ourselves on his schedule. While out for our Saturday consult, we showed Kelly where we wanted the sun tunnel, and the room where we found the original leaking areas. He pointed out that the last owners had not insulated properly, and had not installed eyebrow vents in the roof. Essentially, the roof on that part of the house was cooking itself from the inside out, which is why it didn't last nearly as long as it should have (despite the cheap materials used). He told us how to properly insult with rigid insulation (not pink fiberglass!), to have airflow through that part of the roof. We followed his instructions, and now have a very well insulated room, staying cool in the summer, and warm in the winter. The demo/install team was very nice, cleaned up after themselves, and were very respectful of our property. Case in point; Kelly called me on the first day of demo, as a tool slipped, fell off the roof, and shattered a big ceramic urn in our front yard. He was very apologetic, and wanted me to know that he was replacing it right away! Completely unnecessary, since mistakes happen, but he did the right thing, and replaced it. The icing on the cake was when one of the team members was installing the sun tunnel, he noticed our oven vent hood, and bathroom vent fan had not been hooked up since we remodeled those rooms (due to our own laziness and tendency to "forget" to finish those last details). He hooked them up for us, no charge, no big deal, and actually didn't even tell us. We figured it out while using the fans, and realizing they sounded different... maybe more complete??? My husband went up into the attic and confirmed they guys made all the needed connections, and we both did they "thank the lord that's finally done, happy dance!" Lastly, the gutter team, which was subbed, but that' perfectly fine, actually took the time to set up our rain barrels. They leveled the area, and hooked them up to the downspouts, completing the look... and likely knowing that we'd probably never finish that detail either :) This team is one class act! I could not have been more pleased, and bragged about my new roof to everyone I knew, even if they could care less. These guys were fast, on-time, and very professional. I would not hesitate to call Kelly again, and likely will need to, as we venture into our new project of finding a new house to rehab in the next year or so. As a side note: with the heavy December 2014 rains, we haven't found one single leak. Way to go guys, way to go. A huge Thank You from our family to yours! read more

We are in the middle of having our roof redone and I would normally wait until the project was completed to review the overall service, however last night something occurred that deserved an "above and beyond" shout out in my book. It had rained over the weekend but the weather for the rest of the week was showing only partially cloudy, and rain was not expected. Around 10pm we saw a vehicle pull in to our driveway, and with the shelter in place order, we obviously did not expect company. My husband went to the door and it was one of the roofers from Moriarty's explaining that when they had left for the day the forecast showed no rain but that now it had changed, and they were concerned about an area on the roof they had been working on. So they climbed up on to the roof, using flashlights (the outdoor lights don't really illuminate the spot they were working on), and proceeded to do whatever they felt was needed to weather proof the section for the next 20 mins or so. We live in Brookdale, so we are a little ways out there for anyone to go. I really appreciated the fact that they saw the change in the weather forecast and took the time to do what needed to be done regardless of the late hour! Every single person at Moriarty's is great to work with - not only do they do good work, they're good, honest people too. Shaun in particular was awesome to work with, but everyone was great. We had our roof replaced and got a really accurate, complete bid. The couple little things that came up during the re-roof were explained thoroughly and priced very fairly. With the big storms coming through this winter, it's great to have the peace of mind of a well-installed roof, skylights, and gutters. We had a large section of our roof replaced, and the work was well done and on schedule - again excellent in our book. We just got our roof done and I could not be more pleased. It wasn't cheap, but they did give us a fair quote and stayed around that quote on completion, this included some repairs and additional plywood. The crews were very professional and explained everything and answered all our questions. They also cleaned up everything promptly and thoroughly. The only negatives would be: scheduling the actual work once we paid our deposit was a little difficult. It took much longer than originally planned, which was fine, but then we got a 2 day notice it would start after waiting 2 months and that wasnt going to work as we had a vacation planned and needed to secure animals, as well as have cars moved, etc. The next date was with a weeks notice and worked out fine. The crew that ripped the roof off did leave cigarette butts all over our road, which isnt a huge deal, but it is an issue. Overall, I would highly recommend them for your roofing needs. read more

I own a small commercial structure in Santa Cruz County, I reached out to Moriarty's roofing to replace a sheet metal roof with asphalt tile roof, I requested a bid, and at that time I requested they check the material supporting the roof structure to ensure it would support the additional weight of the heavier material. I even had this discussion after the inspection was done and reassured it would hold the additional weight. When the roof was installed, I could clearly see a large bow in the roof and it was very spongy. I addressed it with the company and I was assured sagging roofs and spongy roofs on older structures was acceptable. ON WHAT PLANET. After half dozen heated conversations they called in a framing contractor to add additional supports, AT MY EXPENSE $7,000 dollars later out of my pocket the sag is corrected. read more

We had a great experience with Moriarty's roofing. We had a very tough job completed in a professional manner which included repair of a lot of hidden wood damage once the old roof was removed. We have a very steep pitch 12/12 roof. Aaron was very fair in working with me on a labor price for extensive rebuilding of joists, new insulation and all new plywood on the north side of our Boulder Creek house.
