We decided to go w/ Six Star because while their proposal was in line with other roofers, their communication was excellent. They always responded quickly and came out when they said they would. It was very easy for me to talk to the Jonathan and crew and I was confident that understood what we were looking for. The crew was always on time, super respectful and they all worked hard to get the job done. I spoke to them and looked at their work several times during the install and I could tell they were doing things with care, addressing small issues that came up as they went and giving me the best roof possible. We are very happy with the result, it feels like a major upgrade over our old leaky asphalt sheets. I doubt I'd ever hire a different roofer and recommend you do the same. Not the cheapest, but definitely the most thorough of the roofing contractors available in our area. My TPO reroof took a week to finish after the December rains abated in January. Luis and his crew spent lots of time making sure the welds on the TPO were done correctly. They were also able to address a B vent which was leaking for many years. Now its water tight again. I reached out to several roofing companies to replace the roof of a bay window (about 15 square feet). The team did a great job on our asphalt shingle roof. We knew going in there were likely a lot of underlying issues and rot, and they ended up doing a complete rebuild of the plywood base and needed to install several skylights. We also had them replace all our rusted gutters to top it off. It still only took them around a week to complete, and they were open and responsive for all the change orders that arose. There were a few touch up areas requested, but they addressed those promptly so it looked how we wanted. The team was always on time, friendly, and left the job site clean each day. The replacing of discovered rotten wood done on a T&M basis was completed quickly and well done. The project turned out beautiful. Jonathan and his crew did an excellent job replacing our roof. The repair was a bit more labor intensive as it required a build up for insulation as well as sky light replacements. His crew showed on time (if not a little early) every single day, kept us in continuous communication about how the job was going, and finished within the anticipated time frame. They were friendly and considerate as well as very clean. When we noticed a small area of patch work that needed repairing after the roof pulled away from the wall on the interior, Jonathan addressed it immediately and had it repaired right away. Not only did they quote me at a rate substantially lower than another local company, but they worked with me with planning and then needing to reschedule a couple times. Would give more than 5 stars if I could! We had to have a roof inspection, and thought that our roof might need to be replaced, as we weren't sure how old half of it was. We didn't have a leak. Jonathon returned my call within a day or so, and was able to come out the same week to inspect the roof. He informed us that the roof was in good shape, didn't need to be replaced and specified a few items that could be repaired if we wanted. Even specified which ones he would recommend doing soon and which were optional. Very honest. We decided to have everything repaired that he recommended. The work by his crew was excellent, the communication with Jonathon great...had to schedule around some rainy days. The whole experience was seamless, and he wrote a letter we could give our insurance company that clearly stated the roof was in excellent condition and that repairs he recommended were done. Six Star Roofing was recommended by our contractor. We met with Jay to discuss our roof and he came prepared with references and copies of his license. We had a quote the next day. We received 3 bids for the roof and Six Star was in line with the other estimates. We decided to go with Six Star because they seemed to have their act together. We have an old bridge that provides access to our property and Six Star was able to arrange to have all of the roofing materials hoisted across the creek without driving heavy trucks across the bridge. During the re-roofing of our home both my partner and I were out of town. We received nightly updates via email with photos of the progress and any repairs that were uncovered as the old roof came off. We came home half-way through the project and Six Star's promise to keep things neat and clean was kept. Workers cleaned up every evening. The final roof looks great and passed inspection without comment. Total cost was as-bid plus a few hours of labor and materials for replacing rotten wood uncovered during the process. My roof was leaking and it was during the first rains this year. I called every roofing contractor in Santa Cruz for help and the only one to call me back promptly was Jonathon from Six Star Roofing. I only needed a repair that would take me through a couple more winters and was not in a position to replace the whole roof. Jonathon was very professional and responsive. He walked my roof and took videos and shared them with me as to what needed to be done. He tarped the roof right way to prevent more damage and provided a reasonable quote for the repairs. I was very impressed with him and he did not try to oversell me on replacing my roof right away as did another roofer from San Jose. He completed the repairs in a very timely manner and cleaned up the mess outside and in and left the property as he found it.
