As with any major remodel, there were details we changed our minds about once we saw things taking shape, and Thomas was patient, responsive, and willing to work with us to get the result we wanted. Hardwoods - we had red oak mixed with carpet, stone, and laminate. They pulled the carpet, stone, and laminate and weaved new red oak into our existing red oak and stained it dark. At the time, we had a 2yr old toddler and they did the job quickly and cleanly, leaving the home livable and safe after each day of work. They even took care of a dead raccoon for us (story for another day haha). Kitchen - they remodeled our entire kitchen in 2.5 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, allowing us to host our family in a brand new space. Scott and his team do design work and ordering, but we opted to get our design and cabinets through Lowes bc we wanted to take advantage of a sale. Scott and Tyler then took all the design mocks and materials and implemented them in our home and customized things along the way (backsplash, waterfall counter, moulding, lighting, etc.). They did it with so much care and attention to detail and took feedback every step of the way. Never was it challenging to talk through options or make corrections. He truly just wants to give you something you'll love. And again, they left our place clean and liveable every single night for those 2.5 weeks. He kept the oven range plugged in every day, never any loose material, not dusty at all, and completely safe for our small children. Beau is the best contractor we have ever worked with, bar none.  His attention to detail and his…read moreeye for design are both impeccable, and there is nothing we wouldn't trust him with.  He communicated clearly, kept us incredibly well-informed about the scope and timing of the project, and did everything he said he would, completing the project pretty much exactly when he expected to be finished, and on budget.  He gave us great advice throughout the process - including recommending when to order certain items, an impressive feat given the current global supply chain issues - in a way that was completely respectful and never pushy.  Our kitchen is now our favorite room in the house. A bit of background on our project: Beau dragged our kitchen from the 70s - no range vent, Formica countertops that buckled with the slightest pressure, cupboard doors that didn't fully close, to name a few issues - into the modern era.  This was a complete demolition, down to the studs, and rebuild.  Along the way, he removed an old chimney that ran from our basement, through the first floor, and into the attic; upgraded our hot water heater, and most of our old, galvanized plumbing; updated our electrical panel and removed a lot of knob-and-tube wiring; and widened our back door.  He had a clear understanding of what he could and could not do, and, for the latter, he had subcontractors lined up and ready to do the work.  Beau, his crew, and the subcontractors I interacted with, were all extremely pleasant, polite, helpful, and fun.  They were very nice to (and tolerant of) our pets, and did everything they could to make the process as unintrusive as possible.  They went above and beyond in so many ways, it's impossible to remember them all.  At the end of the project, the work was done as expected, was top-notch, and as much as we were glad to have the kitchen back, it was sad to see them go.

Simon was one of two contractors who offered bids within our budget. 2) Simon spent a full hour exploring the space and asking questions. All other bids completed only a cursory look of the space, and failed to notice details that needed consideration. Simon pointed out a lot of things that were important for us to understand before moving forward with the project. Simon also said that estimate would take a couple of days to fine tune (versus other contractors who seemed to just throw out a number). 3) Simon immediately came across as a person with integrity and good communication skills. Our experience with Simon and his team: 1) Impeccable communication throughout the process. No leaving us in the dark, and always responsive to our questions. Simon responds to texts and emails right away. 2) Consistent work schedule. Once the project started, his team was at the house for 10 hours daily, 5 to 6 days per week. No disappearing acts. 3) Excellent team - Incredibly skilled with attention to detail. Their fixed bid included removing the window trim and the siding around the window to fix the leak, and to replace the window trim and siding with new materials. They removed the window trim only and then told me that the issue was with the window flashing. So they reflashed the window and replaced the window trim. They did not remove or replace any of the siding. Even though they were only at my house for 3 hours (and that included a trip to the lumber yard for supplies) I foolishly paid them $750 for this work. A few days later after a heavy rain the window leaked again. I called them and asked them to come back. I continued to call and leave messages every 4 or 5 days and finally got someone to answer my call. They said they would come out in a week. Another few weeks went by and they still had not come out. I continued to call and email. Finally when I got in contact with them they said that the $750 was for that work only and they would not credit any of that amount to continue to search for the leak, even though their original bid was going to include siding removal and replacement. They were not willing to do the remainder of the work that I had paid for on the original bid. Here's my breakdown of what it cost me: $100 materials (my estimate) 2 people's labor at $108/hour for 3 hours -------- $750 It does not take two people to replace 4 pieces of wood around a window. Nor do contractors in the Seattle area get paid $108/hour

Duncan and his crew are the most competent group of professionals anyone could ever hope for. Any…read moresingle member of this team could carry an entire construction crew on their own, but together they are simply magic. Skilled and experienced beyond expectation, I don't think there was a single "impossible" problem with our project that could stand up to the A-Team Duncan has assembled. And you can tell that Duncan respects the people he works with and treats them well; I've never met a crew that works so well together, even the subcontractors seemed excited to be a part of the team. Our home is a split level craftsman, built by a Boeing engineer in the 50s and damaged by fire in 2020. Because of the fire, all the work we had done was permitted and inspected, which means that everything the crew touched had to be brought up to modern standards despite having been built by an aerospace engineer 70 years ago. I don't think most contractors would have touched our project with a 10 foot pole. But Duncan, our foreman Mike, and the rest of the team were such consummate professionals that the few minor issues that came up were all resolved quickly, with barely any delay to the rest of the project. Genuine, quality work, too, without a single sketchy compromise or quirky short cut. The kind of beautiful, elegant solutions you only seem to find in old-school craftsmanship anymore. An honestly unbelievable team of amazing individuals with a shared depth of institutional knowledge and experience that allow them to make the impossible possible. And flexible enough to make it all happen on our budget, which is frankly as impressive as the craftsmanship. A huge shout-out to Mike, Phil, Angel, Arron, Brett and the rest of the team, especially Kim at the home office for all her efforts coordinating, sourcing materials, scheduling, and keeping everything on track.
