We bought an elevator from Morning Star Elevator and I consider the money well spent. My husband has developed dementia since we got the elevator and now at age 83 I have to do just about everything... anything that makes life easier is a plus. He is so proud of the elevator he shows it to everyone who comes in our home. A lot of people think we are rich but that is not the case... we have saved and planned for years on how to stay in our home until God calls us home. Morning Star operates along the entire I25 corridor while based in Colorado Springs. I have a stairway chairlift that they installed several years ago. Annually, I receive a postcard from them to have my unit receive routine maintenance. This year I called to set up an appointment for the maintenance and also to ask them to repair the up and down switch. On August 22 the repairman called at 1:05 pm and asked if he could come at 1:30pm. I agreed and he arrived at 1:25. He installed the new switch in 15 minutes time by removing two screws, unplugging the old switch and plugging in the new one and putting the,two screws back on the cover which holds the switch. He next went to rou tine maintenance which consisted of him using paper towels and mineral spirits to clean the 10 foot track and then he he applied a light coat of grease on the track. The time is now 2:10 pm. Then he sat down to do the bill. New switch $35.00, one hour labor $120.00, service call fee $75.00, mileage $68.00 = $298.00 minus discount for responding to their postcard offer = bottom $272.72. In the past, I have never paid more than $135.00 for the routine maintenance. When I called the service Dept I could not get a cogent explanation about the mileage or service call charge. PThe bottom line was, I'm sorry but that is the charge. IMPORTANT UPDATE. UPDATE. UPDATE. AUGUST 30, 2017. UPDATE. UPDATE First, you will notice I changed my rating from 1 star to 5 stars, here's why: Today, August 30th, I received a personal call from the owner of Morningstar Elevator. He expressed his concern that I wasn't happy with the charges for the service call on August 22 . He had researched the call and found that his ( new ) accounting person had categorized the call erroneously, therefore the wrong charges were applied to the call and he wanted to correct that error by returning my check. I told him I didn't expect anything for free but he insisted on returning my payment. I am absolutely amazed at the 5 star ethics this company has displayed towards me. Their work has always been 5 stars for me and I am so pleased that I can continue to have them service my chairlift. read more

My dad has severe osteoarthritis and for years had worse trouble negotiating the stairs of his (now my) house then I could have imagined. A friend of mine had stair lifts from Morning Star he no longer needed. So he gave them to me. These were purchased more than ten years before. The model had been discontinued. Morning Star came and installed them, nonetheless, for labor alone. There were several difficulties, not the least of which being that they didn't fit the two sets of stairs where we needed them. They needed tweaking. They've even come a couple times to fix issues without charge. The technicians are professional and gracious and revere my dad. I couldn't be more happy with the service and grace with which its been performed. I am astonished that everything I own seems to have that planned obsolescence built in. My phone, pc, laptop, everything, I'm meant to buy it and throw it away in a year. This seems to include my washer and dryer, dishwasher, coffee maker, car, everything. I'm thrilled with Morning Star not just for the professional service but that they would help with models so long discontinued. Horrible. Residential elevator located in Durango, Colorado. Technician sent who didn't understand electronics, was unable to troubleshoot, had no tools or parts on his truck. Charged $1,400 for the service call only to be told "you have a short." No shit, that's why I called Morning Star, I knew I had a short and I needed the technician to identify and fix the short. The solution proposed by supervisor Jeff from Morning Star was to replace the control panel at a cost of no less than $12,000. I declined and located a company in Albuquerque called Quality Elevator. Quality was installing several elevators in Durango so the owner came to our home and was able to trouble shoot the problem, no parts needed. Elevator is now working perfectly no thanks to Morning Star. I wrote a letter to the owner, Richard Markow, of Morning Star and he never bothered to respond. Fish rots from the head. Don't let these guys touch your lift or elevator, they suck. read more

Morning Star Elevator is the BEST ! They did a wonderful job making my second floor home accessible by installing an elevator. Dwayne and his workers are very professional and do a great job in a timely manner. The elevator works great, and Dwayne and his team are very knowledgeable. Now I don't have to struggle to get up and down the stairs. I don't have to worry about falling, or ask my neighbors to carry groceries and laundry baskets up and down the stairs. If I forget something upstairs and have to go back up, it's no big deal. I can go out whenever I want to without adding pain or fatigue. I'm more able to work and am more independent. Being able to get around and get things done with confidence is key. I have 2 surgeries coming up this month, and my doctor is very pleased to hear that I have an elevator, since I'll be able to return home sooner to recover, rather than later. Thank you Jeff at Morning Star. We needed a small residential elevator repaired at our home. The first elevator repair service we engaged sent a nice individual but one who was inexperienced, seemed to know little about the elevator, and was unable to get help from others at his company, even though he tried to reach them. After that, we contacted Morning Star. The repair person, Jeff, was extremely knowledgeable, efficient and identified the issue and what was needed for fixing the elevator. He ordered the part, came back as soon as it was available and repaired the elevator. The full Morning Star bill was less than what the first company billed for its service, and Jeff/Morning Star had to come out twice, get the parts, and actually fixed the elevator. read more

Morning Star's service department gets a super A+++ from us!We purchased a chair lift from Morning Star for our home a couple of months ago, after receiving home evaluations and quotes from other companies. We found them to be very forthright and professional with an excellent product. Last week, the lift quit working. I called about 1:30 PM and told them about it. I also mentioned that it wasn't an emergency as I wasn't going to need it for a while. However, a tech was at my home by 4:00 PM the same day! He said they stood by their guarantee and service promises. (The lift required only a minor adjustment and there was no charge.) The tech was informative, friendly and professional. Didn't know where to call and was referred to this company by a friend. Recently had some issues with the lift in my home up in the mountains. I had some family coming to visit, a few family members in particular who have trouble going up and down the stairs. The woman I spoke to who handles the mountain region was very personable as well as knowledgeable. She quoted me different scenarios so I wasnt caught off guard come time for the final bill.
