Like most people, I'm typically wary of businesses that have a low rating but decided to give this coffee one a try. I was pleasantly surprised! I have only been here twice and both times have been a great experience. My first visit was a few weeks ago while passing by on a very hot day. I ordered a 24 oz latte over ice. It hit the spot and then some. The espresso was smooth, the milk fresh, and just overall a very balanced drink. I prefer my coffee on the stronger, less sweet side. This drink did not disappoint. The barista who took my order and prepared my drink was incredibly friendly and my drink was made quickly (not that I was in any kind of rush). My second visit today in the early afternoon was another positive experience. I ordered the same drink and although a different barista, provided the same quality customer service. Consistency is a big deal to when it comes to my coffee. This barista was again very friendly and had my drink ready in no time. Some other pros of this business is the ease of access off route 302 (with entering/exiting), it sits inside a large parking lot of a Chevron gas station, and the prices are incredibly competitive compared to what things in general go for these days. I'll conclude by saying if you are the mood for some delicious quality beverages and take pride in supporting your local business, please show them some love. After reading several bad reviews on other sites it's clear from the way the owner has answered several customers that the owner does not care. I have been coming there for a while and there are two girls that know how to make drinks and a few others that don't have any idea what they're doing. Their customer service and friendliness is a lot to be desired. If you complain even a little bit they get really mad and shut the window and there's no refunds so if you don't like or drink that's too bad they keep your money and send you down the road. I went to peninsula Park up the road and it told them about the incident and they had heard similar stories from morningstar. I ordered the same drink that I couldn't seem to get at Morningstar and guess what peninsula Park made it just the way I wanted it. I told them that I will be there new regular customer and they promised me customer satisfaction 100% of the time or my money back. I read a review where a man complained about a girl not being able to make drinks right and the owner got on there and told him not to come back. Well they won't be in business long. Word of mouth is a powerful thing. Especially in these neck of the woods I know a lot of people. And this made me so angry that I'm going to make this my mission to let everybody know what kind of place this is. It sucks because I really do like most of the girls that work at this stand. They are great, they are very polite and make good coffee. The owner on the other hand is just so rude and stuck up that she ruins this whole coffee stand for me. She is very rude 99% of the time and she claims to know more about coffee than anyone else on the planet, yet whenever she makes my drink it tastes like crap. I have tried this place over a dozen times. The afternoon gal is awesome and sweet. The early afternoon morning gals(short blond hair) and the owner leave much to be desired. The window was open when I pulled up and o ordered and handed her my free drink punch card knowing I wasn't coming back. But I had not decided to leave a review. As I was waiting for my drink I hear the owner ask what the gal is refunding and she said I didn't let them pre know. The owner very snarky from other window comments "it's on the window they need to say before they order" so I asked to be shown where it says this. It says it on the window that you can't see when it's open. She then got rude and in my face because I asked the question. They don't honor military. They don't honor drinks made wrong. They have no daily specials. And the rudest most unprofessional owner and morning crew I have ever met/ and that's after owning coffee shops for 10+ years. Save your money and go elsewhere. Or light your money on fire. That's the equivalent of when you dump your drink out the window because it actually was curdled when it was served! Wauna needs a decent coffee shop. This place does not know how to make a cappuccino. I recently stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and ordered a double short cappuccino and was given a 12 oz latte. To me, and many other establishments, a short means 8 oz. I understand this may just be a matter of semantics but when I gently asked for them to remake my drink they were not very receptive of my critique and simply poured the 12 oz latte into an 8 oz cup and handed it back to me. Normally this place has decent coffee, especially for the area. The weekday morning and new afternoon barista have been professional and congenial. It is unfortunate that one weekend barista is not able to take gentle criticism and has now soured my opinion of this establishment. Tried to support a small local coffee shop, was turned away because I am unable to wear a mask due to medical complications. The owner caused a scene, and was screaming at me all the while UNMASKED. When I asked her why she could be unmasked she told me it was "her f*cking stand and to leave". Luckily I drove down the street to Ravensara and was happily greeted and sold a coffee. It's a nice clean shop. Not much on conversation like other shops but if you go in the morning the coffee is good. On a sour note I have been there several occasions in the afternoon for a pick-me-up and was surprised with the coffee. It did not even taste like what I ordered. This morning I was treated more rudely then I have ever been treated in my life! I have been going to this coffee stand for years & spent hundreds of dollars there, but they have lost my business for good and I highly suggest avoiding giving them your business. The owner went totally psycho on me when I asked her to combine my punch cards. All I said was "thats ridiculous, why can't I combine them?" She started yelling at me saying "it was wasteful and that she didn't have to give me my punch cards or make me a coffee and that it was a privilege for me to get a coffee from her!" Then she refused to give me my punch cards or the coffee she made me already, oh and that's NOT wasteful? Crazy lady! Take some classes in customer service before you lose ALL your business! Decided to give this place another chance and was fraudulently charged a $1 more than my coffee was. Owner told me my total was $3.91 and after checking my bank statement it showed I was charged $4.91! Not cool! Very unprofessional owner! I first reached out to let her know about a barista that had made my coffee and for one made it wrong, gave me a 20 oz when I ordered a 24oz, Still charged me for a 24 oz even showing her the cup said 20 oz. and for two that it was so hot that it gave me instant burns to the roof of my mouth. All she could say was sorry I'll talk to her. Owning a business of my own, customer service is a must!! At least offer to replace the drink or something. Never heard from her again. Tried to give the stand another chance 2 months later and a very sweet and polite barista was working the window and the owner was making the coffee. When I received my drink I asked if she could add more caramel and all I could hear was the owner very rudely say I put 2 extra things of caramel in there already!! Morning Star Espresso has coffee that tastes great and always wakes me up! I used to live super close and would go about every other day for a couple of years. I switched from another local place because I like that the owner and her staff understand espresso and how to make a well crafted drink. It has easy access in and out. I've been there when both lanes were full and it's amazing to see the barista expedite drinks so fast! I think they are friendly and I look forward to when I have a day off and plan a Morning Star coffee! Highly recommend for a great drink! Oh, and when I have my kids, they made them the cutest tastiest steamers or smoothies when in summer! read more

Always satisfied with the drinks produced here, regardless what it is. Great staff with great attitudes. I love that this stand has consistency regardless who is making my drink. Pricing is very competitive and from what I've seen and tasted they use high quality products. I've been going here for a while and I will continue to do so. Had the worst experience ever here on Saturday around 1 o'clock. Stopped by and got 2 drinks, and both were made wrong. My boyfriend asked for light ice and his cup was full of ice. He said he'd deal with it. But I asked for extra vanilla and my drink had NO flavoring in it. We went back to the window and said my drink had no vanilla in it and another girl that had just got there was the one who made the new one. She handed it out the window and it was super dark. I had asked for half and half in it so usually they have a milky look. This one looked like straight coffee shots and ice. When I said something to her she got very offended and started to read me a riot act and the proceeded to tell me what her resume consists of which was either 6 or 16 years of making coffee. I guess she needs a new job not in the customer service industry. My family WAS regulars there. None of us will go there again. And it's really all down to having issues with the same employee. Extremely rude service. The first time I stopped by, the gal was rude. I thought maybe she had a bad day or something, which happens. I'm a real unassuming, polite guy and usually have my dog with me. I stopped for a drink a few weeks later and it was the same gal. She was outside the door talking to some guy, presumably her boyfriend, and she didn't even smile and said something like "well, what do you want?" She was obviously angry she actually had to do her job. I got my latte and decided I won't go there anymore. I've been a barista for over 10 years, and have never met a group of baristas who are more RUDE than these ladies! I've only visited this stand a handful of times, as we just moved to the area...but each time has been completely unacceptable from a customer service standpoint. I had one girl walk away from the window halfway through listening to my order, another roll her eyes at me when I asked for a napkin, another instance where the 3 girls in the stand were too busy catching up on the latest gossip to even listen to my order without talking to the other one over me, and this morning was unbelievable...after the girl made my drink, I told her that I had a free one today. She was made it clear that she was upset by this by sighing heavily, punching a few keys on the register irritatedly, and then said to me very matter-of-factly: "Um, you need to let me know BEFORE I make your drink." She then handed me my drink, took my card (and tip), threw them on the counter and walked to the other side of the stand. No goodbye, no have-a-nice-day...just the cold shoulder. This stand has officially lost my business and the potential business of anyone who I will listen to my recommendation to NEVER go here. This is a long one but worth reading! -- Easter Sunday my husband and I stopped by Morning Star to get a latte. We have never been treated so rudely as we were that day! We were both shocked at the rudeness of the very pretty girl who came to the window. Without eye contact or a smile, she took my order and quickly turned around and walked away before my husband could give his order. Finally, my husband asked her, "Would it be okay if I had a coffee too?" She did not come to the window to say " I'm sorry" or to smile. She just yelled back, "Okay, what do you want? " When she brought us our coffees, my husband handed her our debit card and our punch card that was full and had "Free" across the front. When she tried to charge a full price for both coffees, I told her one was free. She snapped at me and said, "No, if you wanted a free one you should have told me before I rang them up. Besides, you only get a free 12 ounce, not a 16 ounce." I NEVER order 12 ounce lattes. When I said that to her, she yelled "This is my card not yours and I'm not going to argue with you." She slammed the window shut in our face and walked away. We sat there stunned for a few minutes and finally left for home where guests were waiting. We are very polite people and order lots of coffee from several different locations. But we have NEVER been treated that badly. Ever. By the way, the coffee was mediocre, at best. If you really want a good cup of coffee, and wonderful service with a smile, go a little ways further down Highway 302 and stop at Ravensara.
