Avoid it like the plague! I just split an omelette there today with a friend and discovered a hair. I brought it to the waitress' attention and they removed it from the bill. Upon checking out, I mentioned it to the manager. His response, "it was just one hair. It's not like it was three or four!" Hmmm- I guess I didn't realize there was a hair quota that had to be met before the food was considered inedible! You're better off getting a pre-packaged ham sandwich at the Mobil across the street! I'm sure this place would have been amazing in its former glory days, but as of today, I wasn't impressed at all. We were greeted and seated. I was torn between two different eggs Benedict entrees, their Steak Benny and their Eggs Florentine, was hoping they were able to add skirt steak to the eggs florentine instead of bacon, but they couldn't which I found odd, but that's not the main issue I had. My steak was tough and hard to cut, and the chipotle hollandaise sauce more resembled a cheese sauce. My fiancé got Ah Karamba! Omelette which I thought was decent, definitely had some heat, but he enjoyed it. Coffee was okay. They had a great assortment of creamers on the table which was awesome for my indecisiveness and for the okay coffee. I honestly would put the food quality to that of Perkins, but way more pricey for what you get. Our main issue was the service. Our server was okay, but it's always an issue going somewhere and their first language isn't English. Paying for our meal at the front was a nightmare. Not only were there people behind us waiting to pay, we were waiting for him to finish a previous bill from customers who had already paid and left. Super old system and not properly trained employee working it makes for a terrible combo. Bill total before tip, $30.63, we stated we wanted the total of the bill to come to $35. He took quite some time on his calculator to figure out the math, and our total then came to $35.48. I know, 48 cents isn't a terribly big deal, but we would have been liked to have been notified about it since we stated we wanted a total of $35. Things could have been a lot better is the conclusion of this review and I hope it made your decision to give this place a try a little easier to make. My bf and I used to always go here when we first moved to the area. We went yesterday after a couple months and I feel as if it totally went downhill. The worst part about it was the service. Our waitress was an older Asian lady that I have had problems with in the past, because she's just rude and pushy and always has been. She yells at you and demands our order. As soon as I saw she was our waitress, I groaned. I ordered the eggs Benedict and the meat was hard and tasted gross. All throughout the meal, I was smelling cigarettes and hearing the servers yell at each other in the back. The rude waitress bumped me with her arm as she was taking my plate. Although the servers there are super nice, the food is way overpriced. They give you a ton of food. And it's honestly not worth it. It doesn't taste good at all. I've honestly never had diner food as bad as here. I've come here a few times and ordered different things, and each time the food was just really gross. I've been going to this place for years. I love to stop in for breakfast before work. The owners and wait staff are great. I always get the veggie omelette or the skillet. My only complaint is the hash browns are not consistent. Sometimes it seems like they were cooked and left on the grill to long. Felt like I was gnawing on warm potato flavored straws. Then some days they would be great. Hash browns make the skillet. It doesn't matter what you put on top if the hash browns suck. I'm just saying. Maybe I should start off by asking for a sample before I place my order. Or I could just start getting fruit. But I digress. Great spot just ask about the hash browns first. I had breakfast at the café one Saturday morning and overall the food was very good but the customer service was not. I asked for a glass of milk and the glass that I received had lipstick on it from a previous drinker. I asked for a new glass and the rude waitress brought back a new glass of milk. This glass of milk then had something floating in it and I returned it again to finally receive, a clean good glass of milk. The manager never approached me about the glass of milk and I was charged for it. I wasn't expecting a free meal but I wasn't expecting to pay for such terrible service. After explaining the incident repeatedly to the cashier she finally and angrily took the milk off the bill. Again, I don't mind paying for my own meal but the service and the milk incident was enough for me to never come back, too bad too the food was pretty good. Over priced but tasty. read more

This has been a go-to place for my fiance and I for about a year and the best breakfast place in the area. They have a good variety of standard breakfast fare and some innovative choices mixed in like Taffy Apple Pancakes, Portobello Omelet and some lo-carb options. Morning Side Cafe is great! Its your standard breakfast place so you can get what you'd expect from those types of places.. Skillets, omelets, pancakes, steak and eggs, the usual menu. The prices are a little high, not too bad though. What I like best about the place is the service. I went in on Sunday morning around 9 and there were a lot of people but no wait. I sat in Cathy's section and she was awesome. The water was always full, she was way ahead of everything, offered to give us to go cups for our coffee and brought some extra syrup in a cup for the pancakes we were bringing home and we didn't even ask, she was just on top of everything! On top of all that, she was friendly! Sometimes waiters and waitresses can be over intrusive with asking if everything is good, but she was just right. It's the little things that matter. I told my girlfriend that I thought the service was so great that I had to yelp it. I made sure to look at Cathy's name tag before we left because she's why I'm writing this and I have to make sure I ask to sit in her section when I go back! read more

The meal I ordered doesn't even deserve a 1 star. The egg whites were raw and runny I sent it back and order another egg dish I have gotten several times, and that one came with raw runny egg whites. I sent it back and ordered a side salad figured that was the only thing I could trust. the waitress came out of the kitchen with nothing and said that the owner said I would have to pay for the eggs. This place is usually just ok as far as service. Today they were extremely rude and poor customer service. They also ruined my eggs. I called my order for Sausage and egg combo. I asked for American cheese inside my eggs not on top. She didn't ask if I wanted patties or links or if I wanted pancakes or toast for that matter. The lady acted as if she had no clue where she worked. I upgraded my pancakes and the charged me a whole $5 more. i could get a whole meal at Denny's for $5. "Denny's is better by the way.) She then proceeded to lie to me and tell me that is the way it comes and there is nothing they can so when I have ordered the eggs that way previous. She also continuously cut me off in the conversation. I asked for the manager. She says, No one is here but the waitresses. I don't know when (Nick) will be back. I gave her a number to have him call. Then she calls me back 5 minutes later and says the manager said they can replace my eggs if i bring the order back. WOW. ok Now the manager is reachable? Then she transfers me to a guy named Jessie. He says he is the owner and can barely speak english. He also cuts me off when I am explaining what's wrong. He then hangs up the phone in my face when I tell him how rude he is being. I will never go to this place ever again. My husband and I went here for lunch on Thursday, both wanting a nice homemade soup to help with our colds. What we got tasted like Campbell's chicken noodle soup and was basically it was a few noodles and broth. He ordered a chicken sandwich, which arrived dried out on a bun two sizes too small and a bowl of hollandaise sauce which tasted just like mayo. I ordered the gyros wrap and that's what I got... a wrap on a huge plate with a pickle. The pickle juice soaked the tortilla, but other than a soggy wrap it tasted fine. The server was quick, but barely spoke to us - at least the coffee and orange juice were good. Not worth the $22 + tip. read more

Soggy hashbrowns, and thrown together food, like cheese in one clump of a skillet or soggy spinach making up most of an omelet (and it's not like they were busy so couldn't take more time to prepare the items). I was at the Morningside Cafe with a colleague for a business meeting. She ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. After eating a portion of the sandwich she complained that the meat was grizzly. I suggested we get her another sandwich. We asked the wait person to help us. She took the sandwich and then the manager came by. He grilled my friend indicating he did not want to replace the sandwich because she had "eaten most of it." We explained that the problem was in the middle of the chicken breast. He continued to accuse her of asking for another sandwich after she had eaten most of the first one. I was mortified! I said, "Sir, the customer is right and if you want us to come back you will cook her another sandwich." He continued to interrogate her. I will never go back. We left, charged for her sandwich and with no replacement. Not a good way to do business! read more

The worst customer service ever! The place had only two people and me and my friend. Out of the three customers we came in first. The restof the place was empty. So it was not busy. For a turkey club sandwich we waited 45 minutes and still did not get our food. We got coffee and that was it. So we asked for the check because we waitedalmost an hour. When we went to pay we got such an attitude from the front desk lady. She was trying to make us pay for meals that we never got. She was very rude. The whole establishment has horrible customer service. I would never go there again plus the prices were not very reasonable given how long it takes to prepare. Again the worst customer service ever very rude. When I got home I called to talk to a manager and they said there is no manager to talk to I asked for the phone number to contact the owner or anyone in a higher position and the lady said that there is no one to talk to. There is no one that I can get a hold of to talk to about this bad customer service. So basically there's no manager there is no owner to talk to basically they can do whatever they want. Which is why the establishment can be so rude because no one is holding them accountable they are just rude.
