This little community center seems to have a lot to offer: - The playground is a lot of fun- both our kids, ages 4 & 7, loved it! A well-kept wooden playground with swings (3 regular & 1 baby swing), a seesaw, a tire swing, and a big plastic sea monster for climbing. - Short paved walking loop with some benches, picnic tables and grill, and 1 of those little exercise stops and a creek flowing by (great for kids to splash around in!) - Large grassy field - Basketball court (half court) - Community garden - Large picnic table area with covered pavilion - Leashed dogs allowed (please pick up after them - there are poop bags along the sidewalk) The community center appears to be closed right now and I haven't checked out the website yet but there's a board with some info by the playground. It seems like they offer yoga classes (Free maybe? Says "donations accepted"), there's an ad for reiki healing, and a whole calendar of events for children and adults. This center definitely seems to run on donations and volunteers. We were happy to contribute to the painted metal donation post by the playground. Peaceful, safe, beautiful park areas like this are hard to find these days. We're passing through, as we're just frequent vacationers to the area, but I hope the community keeps up this little local gem!

Beautiful park with something for everyone…read more We had a great time here with our toddler. I especially enjoyed the stroller friendly path most of which was paved. The path also went down by the river allowing easy access for us to walk down and watch my son throw rocks and enjoy the shallow water. The playground is very nice and well maintained. There are toddler swings and big kid swings. Lots of opportunities to climb and slide. Picnic tables are available throughout the park. If you walk along the path a bit there are some right by the water. Men's and women's restrooms in the baseball center and lots of easy parking.

I have friends that have plots and speak highly of this place. Came here today for a run. Connects well with Montreat college campus. Very safe and great trails-one main one through the park but tons nearby. Busy but not overwhelming- there were a lot of families and individuals here. There are tables and plenty of green space. I am a mountain type of person and I am really glad that public access has been provided to these cliffs and this Area. Rumbling Bald park host several great hiking trails through massive boulder fields and spectacular hardwood forests. The main draw for the park has to be for Bouldering and Rock Climbing. While hiking or walking through the woods in the winter/spring it is certain you'll see lots of people climbing up and down rocks. Thanks to the park staff for creating a viable parking lot for the park too. When you come here make sure to try and park as closely together as you can. It can get packed on the weekends. Also, don't double park or block anyone, or else you'll get a ticket. I really hope they access can be opened to the other cliff areas around the lake, like Ghost Town and the Darkside, which are currently closed.. 1 suggestion is to avoid this place in the summer, as it turns into a oven with the south-facing rocks, and there is poison ivy all over the place. Go enjoy the outdoor wander around some rocks.

The greenery covering the area is quite robust and a lot of effort clearly went into designing and maintaining it. At one end, a spot for people to hang collars up to memorialize their dogs demonstrates that apparently visitors here like tiny yippy dogs a lot more than I do, but it is still a nice touch. When I visited, they were working on building a visitor center and parking was limited (one end is a separate business whose parking lot is devoted solely to that business as designated by numerous angry signs). However, a water fountain and portapotties were still available. This isn't a place where you'd spend an enormous amount of time, but it is well done and certainly worth a look, and there is no charge to cross.

The town of lake lure seems to be on a vendetta against non residents. They change their rules Every year by increasing fees and changing rules against non residents. All fees for non residents are now at least double or more. I think lake lure should consider where all their revenue comes from.....tourism and the local non residents. I hear more and more complaints about the fees and even the local police are very rude.

There are so many unique and completely fun pieces of playground equipment. Rope walks, sliding swings, rope wall, etc. Additionally there are great picnic areas and shelters, grills, and a zip line course. But also a greenway to ride bikes or walk yourself or your pups.
