Off the beaten path, incredibly diverse selection of brews! Seriously something for everyone. Small but mighty food menu. Staff is super helpful and knowledgeable.

Hydra Blue Milk (special brew for May the fourth be with you (for 2024)

This brewing company I believe should be number #1 in New York State for their beer! Especially those lush milkshake hydras. So much fruit and so thick and juicy. The stouts are second to none also. The barrel aged stouts are my favorite. The IPA's have gotten much better lately and are top notch also. I've been coming here since they opened even through it's an 1.5 hour trip one way. Because of the drive my husband and I don't go as much as we would like to but when we do it's always excellent. They have expanded the food menu and last Saturday my husband and I shared a sandwich and chips which was very good. The service he is always excellent and the bartenders are very personable and I don't see a larger turnover which tells me they treat the staff well. I have met the Owners and they are very friendly and good people. It's small inside but they have outside seating for the good weather. They also sell some cans and bottles to take home.

Sitting down to a very tasty rice lager!

I recently had Mortalis Brewing Company beers and I have to say I found a lot to like here! Steve and I had two different beers from this brewery and enjoyed them considerably. The first beer was from their 8 Bit series of beer the Takemikazuchi was a rice lager with a biscuity, lemony yet sweet flavor profile this light beer we really liked. I am very fond of lagers in general and like rice lagers quite a bit. This wasn't perhaps my favorite rice lager but formidable all the same. Personally I feel that we don't see rice lagers often enough. The next when I knew I would immediately like 6 Demon Bag was our next beer. On the can it says "Egg Shen's" which is definitely tipping their hat to the film Big Trouble in Little China, one I count as one of the plethora of favorite films for me. This beer is an IPA with a hoppy, creamy and juicy flavor profile this hazy IPA goes down very smoothly! This brewery apparently really likes the 80's with the 8Bit video game art and influence of 80's films in title and art it tickles the nostalgia bones in good ways!

We decided to cap off a nice autumn Sunday in Letchworth Park with a stop by Mortalis Brewing. My first visit here and I loved it! Their beers take a few minutes to digest/ figure out - because they are infused with a lot of fruit and other cool stuff added in. I got a flight to check out a few of their beers- Key Lime IPA (delish!) , Venus- a Milk Stout with Strwaberry fig newtons , Athena - a mix of East and West Coast IPAs , and Siren- a Gose with Blackberry and Raspberry. Loved them all. The vibe was cool- indoor and outdoor seating, some beers to go , etc. I will be back!

The good: Their beer is amazing and extremely creative. I shared two flights so I got to try eight of the beers on tap. From the IPAs to the Stout to the Hydras - all great. I will note, some of the Hydras are very thick, even seedy & smoothie-like but I found them incredible. Very refreshing on a warm sunny day. The bad: I didn't bother using the bathroom since the line was basically a bunch of people packing a nook near the entrance of the building. Location is kind of strange. Its set in the back of a business/industrial complex. The GPS said we arrived before we were even close to the building. Service wasn't stellar. Walked in obviously thinking we could buy beer at the bar. Instead they have kind of a checkout lane which can get pretty long. On top of that I sat at the bar with empty glasses and had no idea if I needed to abandon my seat to get back in line for more beer. Turns out the bartenders will serve you if they're not hammered with the "check out" line. Employees looked like machines filling glass after glass after glass. It did take a pretty long time to get a refill. My biggest issue - there is no way for one to buy beer to take out of the building unless it's during a release on Sunday or Thursday. Word on the street is the lines can get insanely long for said releases. Their website claims that growlers will be able to be filled in the future. I'm assuming they're meeting demand of in house customers and don't have enough to fulfill growlers at this time? Overall this was really 2-3 star experience but the beer is simply too good to give anything less than a four. I'm actually looking forward to going back ASAP.

The beer was good. I would recommend the "Hydra fused with pineapple, coconut, and strawberry.) I wanted to order a crowler of this but the giant chalk board make it known that this wasn't an option. There weren't a lot of IPA options when we went. Disappointing.....Side note- Do NOT order the medusa... its looks cool but it is tart and seedy! Overall the venue is cold both in temperature and their decor. I wasn't a fan of the long "movie line" I had to wait in to order at one register. The bathroom near the front is too large to be a single and should have stalls to reduce the lines. Unfortunately its tooooooo cold in the winter to be standing a few people deep and wait near the entrance.

One of my favorite breweries. They make the best sours. They also make awesome stouts and ipas. They have a small indoor seating area that is very cute and an outdoor seating area with heater. The staff is so friendly and the beer is great. A must stop if I'm the area!

Cheers!

Super fun!!! We were bar hopping and stoped for a drink. Fantastic brewery, bartenders were wonderful. We want to come back!

What can't I say about this amazing place? I have traveled to different states, I've visited most of the breweries in NY, and I cannot find one that comes close to the amazing taste of Mortalis. The first time I went to Mortalis, I had their strawberry cheesecake IPA. Which, was absolutely amazing. We did a sampler beforehand and honestly everything is so amazing. I cannot say enough good about my first visit. Which brings me to my second visit! We did another tasting and it was just as amazing. I was amazed that the beer, which is made in smaller batches because of their limited space, was all different and JUST AS GOOD! I had their key lime Pie IPA on my third trip and WOW. You could taste the whipped cream at the end of your sip. It's wild! The food is actually really really good as well! The latest time I've gone (Maybe my fourth or fifth time) all you could smell was caramelized onions. It was wonderful! On their charcuterie board, there was a blueberry goat cheese. I think I still have dreams about it. Honestly, everything from their beer to their merch is wonderful and I highly suggest it!

Word of mouth brought us here, that wonderful mouth deserves a present. It was winter midday on a Saturday and the place was packed, I heard there are lines out the door when they release thier brews. The flight we split was fantastic, their milk of the gods series is outstanding for flavor, feel, color, glass stick, smell.... pretty much any beer attribute receives high praise. We had one IPA which was also delicious and I do not like IPAs.

Grilled cheese with onions jam + flight

This place has brought me out of my yelp hiatus. We took a gamble and made the drive out of town to give it a whirl and it did not disappoint. The beer quality is amazing. If it says it tastes like a double stuffed Oreo.... it does. If it says it tastes like a blueberry muffin- you can almost smell them coming out of the oven. True to their names, and there is a lot of diversity on the menu.... though I'd love a lager option. They have adorable flights, indoor and outdoor seating, and food! Not a huge menu, but we split the grilled cheese with onion jam and it hit the spot. The spicy pickles were a nice surprise addition. On a nice fall day, the rural view is full of foliage and beautiful from the patio. The inside is very spacious with a lot of seating options.

We went here with some friends on a Friday night. It's a hike from Rochester, but worth the drive! They had a great selection of sours--- so many that I actually got a flight! Delicious variety and a fun space! Parking is limited (and parking lot was empty). Tables are also limited, but fellow patrons were friendly and we shared tables. Food looked good, but all we had were pretzels to snack on. Definitely a fun spot!

Top L to R: Milk of the Gods, Tears of the Goddess, Hydra, Medusa Bottom L to R: Medusa, Hydra, Neapolitan Shake, As Above, So Below

Mortalis is an awesome brewery in Avon NY. It's a little confusing to get to as it's down some windy streets past a Ford dealership...but when you find it you'll be glad you did, it's amazing! Its a barebones facility, basically a sheet-metal garage but the beer is incredible. Just be aware that there is limited seating and you will most likely have to wait if you want to sit down. We got two flights that had Hydra, Neapolitan Shake, Medusa, Tears of the Goddess, Milk of the Gods, (As Above, So Below), Ares and Dolos. Medusa was a favorite among everyone...so fruity and delicious. Hydra followed closely...wasn't as tart but the fruit was dominant. Milk of the Gods was an amazing IPA. The fruit and vanilla are up front mellowing our the hops. The darker beers were my personal favorites. As Above, So Below has the right amount of coffee in it making it a great sipping beer. So smooth for a 10%! Neapolitan Shake has a hint of strawberries which created a complex dark beer that I really enjoyed! Mortalis is an awesome growing brewery and I can't wait for our next trip out there! Also can't wait until they start canning pints and selling in stores!

The interior features light woods, and they offer a range of drinks, including beers, wines by the glass, canned beverages, and slushies. They also have a food menu. Outside, there's a corn hole area, a covered space for live music, and a large tented area perfect for receptions or events. I tried the FLX Hefeweizen, which was refreshing. If you're unsure of what to get, the staff is happy to help you sample a few options based on your preferences, which I really appreciated since I don't drink beer regularly. I also had a Root Beer Bourbon Slushy, which was delicious--more root beer forward, and likely strong enough that you'll feel it after a couple! Since we were there for a reception, I believe the food was catered by the brewery. They served pulled pork, brisket, sausage and peppers, mac and cheese, chicken, and more. Everything was tasty. It's a great spot with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. This is a chill place to relax with friends, and I hope to come back soon. Oh, and as always, I'll mention the parking--there's plenty of it! 4.5/5

3.5 stars from me…read more This is a cool little unexpected brewery we ran into on a long journey from Buffalo to rising storm brewery so we had to stop. Great ambiance. Love the hay bails and roof over top of them for hot summer days. Bet it would be an excellent fall stop. Anyway, they lose some stars because the bar tended didn't seem to know anything about beer or the beers they were serving. I was disappointed in her answers to me and instead she was trying to see me in a mimosa bar. The mimosa bar is a nice idea, but it's at a side table far from the bar and it seemed like that fruit was sitting there all day and getting buggy. Lastly the smell of the bathroom or is it the pipes.... It's undescribable. It's putrid and you can totally smell it close to the mimosa bar as you're getting closer to the bathroom area. They really need to do something about that. We were there two hours and the smell never got better so it's got some kind of plumbing issue.. I do hope to come back this fall and see what they do with the place.

The building is a nice wooden structure with ample parking and an outdoor seating area. Once inside, the beautiful wood theme continues holding a few tables and some bar seating. On the night that we went, there were about six Railhead beers on tap with one non-Railhead cider available as well. The beers were a good assortment including a Kolsch, IPA, Sour, etc. I had a flight of 4 and they were all good. On the food side, we had a personal pizza and a soft pretzel, but they also offer a cheese plate, candied bacon and more. The pizza was absolutely the best that I've had anywhere in the area and the pretzel was delicious as well. The pretzels are made fresh each day (so when they run out, they run out for the day). Watching the pizza cooking in the wood fired oven, with a nice cold beer in my hand was a truly beautiful thing. I should mention that they have 10 different pizzas on the menu, plus a special of the day which means that they had a bigger selection of pizzas than beers and that was just fine with us. Again, everything was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful and the prices were fair. What more could you ask for?
