What we found by working with MCP is that you could very well stumble midway in your escrow process because they hire a terrible appraisal company or won't work with you to rectify any hiccups. We had excellent credit, qualified multiple times, and when it came time to play ball they fouled and continued to do so. We had to switch lenders midway, almost had our escrow fall through, and could have really messed ourselves up by going with MCP because we discovered how terrible of a rate they were offering us compared to another lender and that we would've been in many years of interest only debt and potentially never paid it off. In the long run, we saw how MCP performed when it mattered to us most and we would never bring any of our business here again. Even the managing directors and above from this company were an extreme disappointment in they way they handled our file. We're glad we didn't get our loan from MCP and we're forced to change lenders midway and saved literally thousands of dollars for doing so.

I worked with Tony Yousif out of Manhattan Beach to refinance my home. He prequalified me for one…read moreprogram and rate, but it mysteriously jumped 1/4% without any disqualifying information and then the appraisal was delayed due to work being performed on my home, and during the delay the market softened a bit and I took another 1/8% hit to my final rate. My loan was improperly calculated for an extra $10k, which he told meekest could not be adjusted or else the bank would reject the loan (bullshit) and the money would be returned to me by his "awesome" escrow company. The closing paperwork was incorrect as it did not factor in the proper payoff and this money ended up going to my mortgage company as an overpayment, rather than coming back to me. I told Tony about this three times and he had nearly a week to resolve this with Corinthian, but Mary Wedlake couldn't be bothered to get a new payoff and made her own payoff assumptions from a more than two week stale payoff from April 28 when the mortgage was funded on May 17. When I asked for Tony and Mary to provide me with an accurate closing document they both refused. They said "overpayments" happen all the time in refinance and it is the previous mortgage company's responsibility to send the overage back. So much for the purpose of an escrow company providing a safe, trusted intermediary party to handle the cash and send it to the correct parties. The only reason this is not a one star review is because I did at least get into a better loan without any fees directly paid to MCP, but I did pay the fees through the refi program, only to the bank instead of points directly to the broker. The fact that Tony couldn't be bothered to facilitate a proper closing worksheet when they had 7 days after notary until funding is disgusting and shows just how little he actually cares about his clients. It's bad enough my loan was overfunded to give him an extra $100, but then allowing $10k to be taken from me and forcing me to chase it down, that is downright awful and unprofessional. Do not use MCP unless you are desperate. Do not let them put you with Corinthian Escrow. I am opening up complaints with the state boards to prevent others from being abused and mistreated like this. Completely unprofessional and careless.
