The company comes in a UHaul while they advertised an actual business truck. The work was not fully completed. They were not prepared fully and I provided all materials. I appreciate that they were flexible in allowing me to pay for the invoice via equipment. My equipment was worth 4-5 times the invoice bill, but I support black businesses. Property Damage and Mishandling Several of my belongings were damaged during the move. Ethical Concerns and Misleading Advertising Mosby Movers advertises flat-rate pricing with no hidden fees, yet I was charged an additional $150-$250 due to the walking distance from the elevator to my apartment--despite the presence of a freight elevator and a relatively short hallway. This charge was never mentioned upfront but only disclosed after arriving and contradicts their stated policy. The company also claims to offer furniture disassembly and reassembly, but only disclosed after arriving that they do not handle furniture from brands like IKEA and Ashley, citing insurance limitations. This significant limitation should have been communicated during the booking process, not on the day of the move. Additionally, while they advertise packing assistance if needed, I was told that I could be charged extra for not having everything taped or boxed--despite the fact that I had more totes in my vehicle and had only left a few clothes folded on a dresser and items in drawers. The lead mover handled these items with impatience, removing them carelessly and placing everything directly on the floor. Lack of Professionalism and Pressure Despite paying a flat rate, the movers appeared rushed and pressured by internal timelines. The lead mover indicated that the company would be calling to question delays, even though the total move took only four hours. The stress of that pressure was evident in how quickly and carelessly some items were handled. While Mosby Movers may appear competitive and convenient at first glance, my experience highlighted serious issues around transparency, care, and customer service. Absolutely terrible. Told me the my could fit all my stuff in their truck and then couldn't. I had to leave so much stuff behind in my move. They didn't pack, they just shoved things in bags. They didn't even bring their own bags. They asked me when they got there if I had any contractor bags to use. They installed my bed incorrectly and offered me 50 dollars to have someone come fix it but never sent the money. And now I cannot get a hold of anyone. Over priced for terrible work. When I asked why they had such bad reviews, he said they use "google" now. The biggest concern was underestimating the size of truck. He said, we could fit all of our stuff in a 26 ft (We used 4 PODS to move to MD) and near the day of moving we realized it wasn't going to fit. So, we had to rent another truck- 16 ft and hire more guys! It cost an extra $6K. Also, the guys they contracted with to pack did a terrible job- they threw our pictures in a box without wrapping them and charged us more than they said. Worst move of our life (out of 13 moves!) I cried for days. At our destination, they almost got into a fight with our painters, they were smoking THC in driveway, and wouldn't move some of our stuff upstairs! :( :( probably, less than a 1 rating. read more

I want to support my people as much as possible but this company was the WORST. I used them a few days ago for a very time sensitive move and wish I went elsewhere. They told me they were sending 3+ guys to move us from our half used 4br small home to a slightly bigger one up the road. Only 2 guys showed up nearly an hour late. No tools, no dollies, just a bunch of blankets, a Philips screwdriver, and a set of Allen Keys. My cousin and I did the majority of the moving. I got fed up looking at the clock and cut the time short once everything was in the door. I didn't even want them to put the furniture back together at this point. Wifey was furious. They were scheduled to be here at 10 am, didn't show up until after 3. I had to keep calling to find out what was happening. They said the prior job had a lot of unexpected things come up, which I understand. But they told me they were coming from a job in Columbia! They must have known it was impossible to get back from Columbia to me before 1 of 2 even if everything had gone perfectly. They did a decent job, once they got here (I had everything disassembled, packed and ready to go) but you had to keep pushing them to work, because otherwise they were constantly on their phones. Then refused to take my credit card ( athough the owner had said they accept cards) they wanted to be paid in cash, we finally settled on Venmo. They were inexpensive, and nothing broke and at least my back is not aching. so I'm giving them a 3 instead of a 2. read more

I hired this company last summer and told the owner what furniture I had and he assured me of the cost range and that it would be done fast since it did not seem like alot (no real questions or survey of my belongings was done). I was pretty confident based on the reviews and how they both said this would be a quick job that it would be done in no time. Problem #1: The two men showed up with a truck that was too small to move a 2 bedroom home and they said they would have to make 2 trips. I was upset because I knew this would eat into the hourly time that I was planning to be completed by and since I was paying by the hour this would be an issue. Problem #2: The men moved fast at first until family that was helping me stepped out and I then noticed it was really quiet (I was busy packing up things myself upstairs). I went to inquire why it was so quiet and asked the one guy where his partner was. Lo and behold he was on the truck smoking a cigerette. When I asked what was going on and said that I was paying by the hour he simply said that "his manager called them (Mosby guy) and told them to take their time (knowing that I was paying hourly)." He seemed really annoyed with the company and said "he was sick of them getting over on people" and that they were "crooks and that he did not care if he was fired because he was going to quit and that it was a side job." I could not believe what was going on because he said that yet he was part of the problem for wasting time as well. It then also started to make sense why the other guy was so willing to individually wrap each of my candles from a collection and not only put them in the box, but he cut the box down to fit the candles. I have never seen this done in all my life, especially when I told him not to worry about them since I would drive them there myself. I was impressed by that service, until I realized that it was all smoke to eat up time and no furniture was actually being moved. 3 hrs into the move and both bedroom sets, the sofa, TV unit, and alot of boxes were still sitting there. I called the manager and was furious. I told him what was said and he denied it. Long story short, that guy was fired on the job/or he left..I'm not sure (I knew he was telling the truth though based on the job still being nowhere complete) and they brought in another guy. At his point the pricing window, my budget, and the confident statements of being in and out were all down the drain. I had to negotiate with the new guy a fixed fee that was over the budget that I had within the quoted timeframe. In all they got the job done hours later...the guys were nice and I tipped them, but nice workers are often trumped by bad management. I do not trust this company at all! My advice if you use them, get a fixed rate and do not go hourly. It's a shame that an employee has to tell on the company to shed light on draining time and money from customers. Amazing bunch, adhered to all of our requests, made no mess, were timely and extremely professional, I would recommend to any one!!!

Do NOT use Mosby movers. While the owner was initially very nice to talk to and the workers polite and respectful, we would not call this a professional moving company. The movers came to our jobs at times injured, lacking sleep, lacking energy, momentum and organization. They also handled our furniture very roughly and broke and damaged several pieces of furniture including antiques, which cannot be repaired. No help nor compensation was given to us for the damage. Also note that we never got an official contract from them, which we expected by move time. All we got was a confirmation of move date and time and then receipts for our payments. A professional company will prove insurance and will handle damages immediately. We followed up with the owner, Derek, several times for 4 weeks after the move and got nowhere. He kept telling us he would arrange for someone to do the repairs and during our last conversation, we let him know that we would be forced to post our review and move on. To this, he flippantly responded "go ahead, and move on." As a result, we will be seeking counsel with official consumer protection organizations. read more

The experience began pleasant enough, and from reading these reviews it seems that he excels at the initial call. But if you have an issue, it's like a different person. The movers were polite, but that was it. When I called initially, he asked what size house or apt, I informed him it was a full 3 bedroom home. When the movers arrived, they had a small box truck. Apartment sized truck! That means they would take longer and take more trips, so from the onset I knew I had been scammed. They moved quickly at first, and then began to slow down. They got lost going to the storage facility, driving aimlessly for half an hour before they called for directions to a unit around the corner, literally. They had instructions in print And they had their Own email with the address provided. How do you get lost for 30 minutes?! And then blamed their gps going out...All of them had cell phones and no one had service? In an open area in a city with towers everywhere. So, I asked several people in the neighborhood and they have never lost service In the aforementioned area. Not only did they do this once, they did it at Least two of their 3-4 trips, one I recorded because I was totally shocked. Their response? We got lost. How do you get lost after your third trip around the corner? So, we have a small box truck for a 3 bedroom house move. The movers informed us that "the boss didn't tell us it was a big move". Red flags everywhere. I think the biggest one was when they asked for lunch, which they asked us to provide!!!!! And sat down to eat it iue food and drink, and going in and out of our fridge getting water...still charging us. I expected some integrity from the movers, knowing all they had requested and all we helped them with to speed it up- we realized when we saw the truck what the scam was So we helped them to move faster. I expected More integrity from owner after that, when I told him about my experience, and even when I told the movers that was too high of a price for their blunders (beginning with sending a truck that was too small!) They smiled and said We don't change the price, then called to make sure the payment went through. They left their trash on my driveway and in my garage. I am still awaiting a reply from the company. Not impressed with their services. They charged me 600.00 plus for a small 2 bedroom apartment where the only thing they moved was a kids bedroom set, couch set, and master bedroom set. They took their time and I believe it's because they get paid hourly. I would NEVER recommend their services. Very unprofessional appearance and wasn't prepared for the job. literally the worst movers i have EVER encountered!!! i have moved several times, both long distances across states and short distances across cities. but this move was supposed to be the easiest of them all, just moving from one apartment building to the neighboring building. i probably should've known that they lacked ALL professionalism when i asked for a quote several times, and never received one. in my initial communication, i specified the items i would need for the move. i specifically asked if they were equipped with a large moving cart for small items, i was assured that the movers would have one. i requested a quote so i could have our agreement in writing and i also asked for proof of insurance, i never received either. my move was supposed to start at 9am. on the moving day, 9am came and went. the number i had, no one answered, i sent messages via yelp that also went unanswered. at 11am i received a call from a person that could not competently hold a conversation, telling me that the movers would be late, when they were already 2hours late. i was told that the movers would arrive at 12 noon! 4 hours after our discussed time!! unbelievable, i then again wanted to make sure the movers would be equipped with a cart, i was assured again that they would have a cart. my family arrived at noon and started to help me move because i was in a bind. the movers didn't arrive until 4 PM! they arrived in a packed u-haul rented truck. it was only two men and one of them was a very frail old man and they did NOT have a cart. they had no clue what i was talking about in reference to my move and the items that i requested. they were POOR movers, dragging furniture, never wrapping or taping anything down. i specified that i had fragile mirrored furniture and that it would need it to be wrapped, they had NOTHING to protect my furniture. they claimed to breakdown and put furniture back together, that was a joke! all and all this simple move took 5 HOURS once they finally arrived. i had the PHYSICALLY help. TWO dressers were broken. when my bed was "broken down" and "put back together", pieces were left out and left on the side of my bed, it was literally BROKEN DOWN. it was the MOST stressful, exhausting and unproductive move that i've EVER experienced. when it came time to pay, i wanted a significant discount for my HUGE inconvenience, i was offered a laughable 10%. the "owner" who was non-existent when i was trying to contact someone, but was all of a sudden very accessible when it was time to discuss payment i was threatened to be sued, if i did not pay the amount in full. i never even received a simple apology for my anguish. pure disgusting. please let my review be a lesson. We were charged $125 per hour for two movers, their truck, and nothing additional for transit or gas. They moved a full storage unit into our new 3 bedroom apartment in 4 hours. The day of the scheduled move we drove to VA to meet them at the agreed upon time. While on the road we called to confirm and found out that they were not going to be able to meet at that time. They tried to reschedule with us for later that day which was not possible for us as we had scheduled childcare for only that morning and not all day. They were apologetic and said they got behind on a move that morning but would be free the following week and would call to reschedule. The following week on Saturday we got a call from them saying they could do Sunday at 10am. Sunday morning we called to confirm and they said it was still the plan. Around noon we received a call from my elderly grandmother who said the movers never came. We called them and the owner, Derek said he thought our delivery had already happened. You want to read this, please read the whole review. So, let me start off by saying that Shay came to my house twice to give a quote. I received a confirmation email stating that my job would cost $4000 with disassemble/reassemble furniture, wrapping of furniture, 3-4 man, fully equipped box truck, NO hidden fees, NO taxes, and NO extra fees. Now the day of the move the crew didn't arrive until 1020 and they had no packing supplies. Shay never told them that they would be packing my stuff. Shay brought the packing materials and they started their job a little after 11am. Now, I have to mention that I have close to 10,000 lbs of stuff. They had the biggest truck that Uhaul had to offer and I immediately told them that my stuff would not fit on there but I was told it would. They started packing and wrapping my furniture. One of the guys started loading the truck. They didn't leave until 730pm that first day. Shay was supposed to come pick them up since they only came with the truck. Shay told them he had something going on with his kid and they were going to take the truck with my stuff on it to drive everybody home and park it at one of the guys house. I said absolutely not. The movers had to get an Uber. The next day they arrived at 830am and started loading. By 1pm it was very apparent that not all of my stuff would fit on the truck which I had told Shay numerous times. So then all 3 of them left for over 2 hours looking for a hitch which I told them a hitch would be too small. Over 2 hours later, they came back with a van. I immediately told them that the van will not be enough either. I had called Shay and he said that the van will be enough. As they got closer, they realized that not everything would fit in the van either. They brought my patio furniture to the front and tried to fit it but there absolutely no room in the van. One of the guys wanted to take apart the furniture but I told them no it wouldn't fit either way, there was too much left. We had to hurry up because we had an 4 hour drive and the access to my new storage unit is only until 10pm. I asked Shay what is going to happen to my patio furniture and the rest that was left in the garage. He said he could give me $200 if I leave it behind. Excuse me, I was in shock. The patio set alone was $1500. Besides where was I going to take this patio set to get rid off. He then said he would do it for $500 and I said no I want all of my stuff to be brought like we originally agreed. I am paying $4000 for all of my stuff to be brought to my next place. Now Shay didn't even bother putting the stuff to the back and we rushed out to make it to the storage unit. We arrived at the storage unit at 930pm. My stuff at the old house could have been stolen just sitting there in my front yard. Shay didn't care. My stuff was not picked up until the next morning at 11am. Also, I had already cleaned the basement and locked the door and one of them went through that door and left it wide open. The house was freezing cold and the heat was on. The rest of my stuff was brought by Fran the next day on 15 Jan 2022. Now Shay wanted me to pay the $500 extra. But I never received another confirmation email with the extra price besides the original price quoted was $4000 for ALL of my furniture. After the last bit was delivered, a dispatcher (Michelle McKnight) called me numerous times and we spoke. We went back and forth and I finally agreed to pay $150 in gas for the truck. But I refused to pay anything else. When she kept pressuring me to pay the rest, I told I will see her in court and she then said you need to watch your back and hung up. 2 minutes later I received a text from a 410 number that stated "watch your back". I am retired army and this was my 15th move I have never been treated like this before. I have never experienced such poor customer service and unprofessionalism. ALL of this was Shay's mistake. Unfortunately, I had awful experience with Mosby Movers. It started out great - Mr. Mosby was very professional and responsive. I scheduled our move in late May for August 1. Confirmed the move 3 days in advance - all good to move at 9am. At 10:30 pm the night before our move, Bruno texted me and said he was in NC (I'm in Balto.) and that he'd have to push the move to 2/3 pm. I was not happy about that but he said "I will be there no worries." At 11:59 am the day of the scheduled move, he texted that he was behind schedule and could I move the next day - NO as I was to be out of our house by 4:30 pm!!! I called Mr. Mosby and he said earlier in the week he had asked Bruno if he should another crew for our move as he may not get back in time after the NC move. Mr. Mosby did not have any other crews available that day to move us so we were totally in a big pickle. We were only moving about 10 blocks so we began moving what we could (my husband and I are in our early 60's). While running loads between houses I saw a Charm City moving truck parked, and they were wrapping up a move. I explained our situation, and they were at my house within 30 minutes. The movers arrived on time and Ken was great! We couldn't find the elevator key so we had a slight delay because of that. However, Tony didn't seem to want to work. My husband ended up having to move boxes off the truck and bringing them to the apartment because they were taking soooooo long. So future customers please beware. If you notice your team moving slowly, make them reach out to Derrick because you shouldn't have to pay for extra hours if you don't have to especially when you're doing half of the work with them. read more
