We have had Zip Moving and Storage now for two moves and have two more scheduled with them. We've had nothing but excellent customer service and support throughout both moves. They were flexible with us as we had to reschedule due to weather, and had several complicated moves that were handled very well. As with any move, we took care ourselves to wrap things, communicate our needs and expectations, but I would do that with any mover. Ask questions, clarify and explain what you want. All furniture was wrapped carefully with moving blankets and secured and all breakables were treated with care. I've never seen a team of people work so hard! read more

The movers themselves were friendly and they were quick. That alone is deserving of 5 stars. However. The amount of damage we received was excessive to say the least. It wasn't intentional, but the amount of damage we saw was much more than what I would have been okay with. The furniture and location was difficult however given that everything made it to where they needed to be, I'm sure it could have been done much more carefully. That made this pretty mid tier service. So 3 stars. And that's what we initially put in our review. But then after putting in our claim on damages with ample proof of damages, and also our honest review, my wife received a call from one of the movers asking us to take down the poor review because they would get in trouble with the owners. Now I'm wondering goes on behind the scenes because the good reviews seems much more shady now. How many other reviews got asked to be taken down? They got the move done and did it relatively quick given the difficulty. The price was rather high given the quality of work completed. And given how quick they were to request us to take a poor review down to me deserves an even poorer review. Honestly, if they had taken accountability right away to the damages I would have felt better about a simple 3 star review. I can't in good conscience recommend Zip Moving and Storage. read more

HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE--moving nightmare! My spouse and I hired Interstate Moving Company as a broker, and they subcontracted our move to Zip Moving and Storage. We were repeatedly promised a fast delivery, with an estimated arrival the day after pickup. The movers arrived in a rented Enterprise truck with only one professional mover doing most of the labor, assisted by what appeared to be his underage son, so my husband had to help lift and load much of our furniture himself. We are paying close to $6K for this move. Despite this disorganized setup, both companies continued assuring us that delivery would still happen the next day. After the pickup day, however, communication became inconsistent and misleading. We later learned our belongings were not even placed on a delivery schedule, and after days without updates, we were given a delivery date of 15 days later that was THEN canceled due to an alleged truck mechanical issue. (Mind you, again, they had simply rented a truck and could rent another.) The companies have repeatedly failed to provide clear information about where our belongings are located, when they will actually be delivered, or why another truck cannot be used to complete the move. We have now been without our belongings for over two weeks and were forced to stay with family in another state because we had none of the essentials needed to live in our new home. This situation has been especially distressing because I am pregnant and have severe asthma, and some of my emergency medications were packed in the shipment after we were assured of a rapid delivery. We are now also missing equipment that is vital for our new jobs. Overall, the experience has been incredibly stressful, unprofessional, and misleading, and I would *strongly* caution others before using either Interstate Moving Company or Zip Moving and Storage. We have had to file a federal report against both companies and hire a lawyer to attempt to have our belongings delivered. 17 days past pick up and still no ETA. read more

Very bad experience. Zips performed an interstate move for me in late 2025 which included full packing services (they were selected by my broker Interstate Moving and Relocation to handle my move). While the move out seemed to go relatively smoothly with a team of aound 8 movers, things went downhill from there. It took more than a month from the "earliest possible move date" to get a date of move in from Zips. I had to call my broker repeatedly for news only to be told they had no information but I should call back in three days for an update - I was told to be ready for a move at any time - causing significant problems for me with my employer. Finally I was given a date that was exactly in the few day period I had been clear from the beginning that I was not available. On Thanksgiving day! After repeated calls to my broker I was able to get the move delayed a couple days. The move-in was a disaster. The crew was 3 people. The truck was too small for the move so they had to make two trips (I had the sense my stuff had been moved to another storage facility closer to my home and the move in was perhaps subcontracted though I don't know that for sure). Many, many items were damaged from poor packing. Wooden sculptures with no packing. Glass frames packed tightly in boxes with no packing materials (all glass shattered), an antique wooden cabinet cracked from the weight of boxes placed on top of it, an antique mantle clock tossed upside down in a box with no packing. Following the move I filed a claim but received no response - regardless it appeared the default insurance was ludicrously inadequate to compensate and I had never been presented with options to recover full replacement value. Even worse, following the move I began receiving monthly invoices of more than a thousand dollars a month with interest and late charges for additional storage costs as if my belongings were still in storage at Zips. I spent hours over several months trying to talk to a human to correct the issue but it appeared to be impossible - their "very friendly and empathetic" AI bot said it would have someone get back to me immediately with no follow through. Finally I had to pretend to be a new customer looking for info on a new move and a salesperson called me back immediately and got me to someone who could fix my problem. Perhaps interstate moves of the magnitude of my household (a couple bedrooms) is beyond their capabilities. I wouldn't recommend. read more

If you'd like to hire a company that triples your price at the most critical moment of selling your home, hire Zip. From the moment they arrived, this move was a disaster. They backed their truck into my retaining wall, immediately pissing off my neighbors before a single box was moved. They then showed up with half the crew promised, which should have been my first clue about what was coming next. What should have been a straightforward move from a 3-bedroom home took 13 hours, and they still couldn't finish--forcing them to come back the next morning, while I was under extreme pressure due to a pending home sale. With 18 hours to be out of my house, Zip used the situation to triple the price, leaving me completely cornered. At one point, the police showed up at my door to question one of the movers for 30 minutes. Later, they left a single worker alone for SIX HOURS to finish the job. Completely unprofessional and unsafe. Once my belongings were picked up, I received zero updates for six weeks. No proactive communication. No tracking. No accountability. I had to escalate through three different people just to get basic help or information. And when all was said and done, Zip did absolutely nothing to make it right--no refund, no meaningful apology, no remediation--other than claiming they fired the person who originally quoted me, which does nothing for the damage, stress, or financial harm they caused. This was easily one of the most stressful and mishandled service experiences I've ever had, at a time when reliability mattered most. If you value transparency, professionalism, or basic human decency during a move--look elsewhere. read more

When you call by phone there is a recording describing how they understand how moving can be stressful and that they will help to take that stress away. But, that is where it ends. Once you're a client, they won't take your calls or respond to email or texts. Try to get a firm date for packing, pickup or delivery, forget it, everything is on their terms and you are just another bother. Our team of movers were phenomenal! We moved from an apartment to a condo in DC - and of course, we completely under counted the number of boxes and our crew thought that might extend the time it'd take - and the cost - but have no fear, they were absolute machines and got it done in the original estimated time. Thank you!! As an FYI, they can't move bags - ie big ziploc bags or garbage bags with clothes and pillows - so, to keep it easy, we moved those by our car. I was also originally quoted a $550 flat rate from another DC moving company and I was confused since it under half the cost I was quoted from Zip Moving and several other companies. Too good to be true right? I shared that price with a sales rep at Zip Moving and he said - "wow, we can't match that price. Have you looked at their Better Business Bureau ratings?" - sure enough, they got an F and Zip Moving has an A. I've used Zip Moving twice before without any issues, which is why I felt confident booking them again for an upcoming move. Unfortunately, this most recent experience has been incredibly disappointing. I paid a $150 deposit for a weekend move and was assured that my building's strict moving time frame would be accommodated. At the time of booking, no moving window was provided--but I was reassured it would align with my building's requirements. Days before the move, I had to follow up myself to confirm the time window, only to be told it wouldn't work with what had originally been promised. Despite Zip being unable to meet the conditions they agreed to when taking my deposit, I was told that my deposit would not be refunded. Now I'm left just days before my scheduled move with no movers and no clear solution, all due to poor communication and unmet commitments. I recently moved from Georgia to Wisconsin and Zip Moving and Storage moved and stored my items. My bill of lading shows Zip Van Lines Rockville, MD 1-855-947-6543. I can't say that Zip if the worst moving company as I don't have experience with all of them. However, I will never use them again and I will never recommend them to anyone. In fact, I would discourage anyone from using them at all. In addition to the move, I paid for a full pack and they stored my items for about 6 weeks. Based on the condition of my items, they do not know how to pack and they aren't careful with storage. I have more than $3,000 of broken, missing or destroyed items. The bulk of this is the quote to repair my 130+ year old piano that belonged to my grandmother. They broke a foot pedal off the piano. How? Additionally, the packer didn't know how to pack dishes and wrapped stacks of plates, saucers, etc rather than wrapping them individually. This led to a lot of breakage of my inherited china. Many of the boxes were crushed when I received them as if heavier items had been stacked on top. Also missing are a pair of 35-pound dumbbells with red rubber grips. How did they misplace those? As stated, they stored my items for about 6 weeks but boxes are not labeled with a name. No doubt that it why I ended up with missing items and with other folks' boxes. Why not put a last name on boxes going to storage? However, my biggest complaint is not about all the broken or missing items but rather the fact than an employee of this company shared my personal information (address and phone number) with another customer. I did not give permission for my information to be shared. For some background, when Zip delivered my items they included a box belonging to someone else. Zip elected not to send an employee to pick up the box but rather for me to send it USPS. The post master made a special trip to my home for pickup but Zip had not provided me with a postage paid label so he was unable to take the box. I emailed Zip to let them know they needed to send someone to pick it up but got no response from them. My next contact was from the owner of the box who called me. The only way she had my phone number was if Zip gave it to her. She also had my address as she arranged a pickup by UPS. Again, I did not give permission for my information to be shared. I wrote Zip about this breach shortly after delivery and complained to the BBB. As of today, (6 months after the move) I have not heard anything from either of them. It seems that once Zip gets paid, they no longer care about customer service. Avoid this company if you value your possessions and privacy. read more

The initial quote is by a zoom call. it's a scam. they lowball the quote. 10 minutes in your house and the foreman will tell you that it's going to take a lot longer to move. when you ask, they then backtrack on the initial quote because it wasn't in person They then slow walked the day to make sure it took much longer. all that time and they basically throw stuff in boxes. They damaged quite a bit of our stuff. They then snapped off the end of a 200 year old table. the crew told us it was their fault but of course that isn't the case when you talk to the supervisors. The team's communication was beyond timely and clear. Once they arrived, all of my worries about moving was relieved. Besides that, they had mad stacking skills to get all of it on the truck. I'm moving again, and I found a review from when I used these guys in October 2022 but never posted: I initially booked Zip Movers based on their competitive initial estimate, which was $1400-$1600 for my one bedroom plus den apartment for a full-service move. I wouldn't have to lift a finger, they said. That sounded good, and in line with what I'd paid in the past. However, after reviewing their inventory and time estimates, I was a little worried that they'd underestimated how long it takes to move...anything, I guess. Two guys aren't going to pack, load, and unload a 900 sq ft apartment in 5-6 hours. So, I went digging, and found my bill of sale for the last time I moved in 2018. I gave them a full, detailed inventory down to the number and exact volume of boxes the last guys had used. They increased the movers to three, and increased my estimate to $2000. Unfortunately, by that point, it was too late to cancel. But I was confident I'd given them everything they needed to estimate it correctly. A few days before the move, I got a call from a dispatcher to prepare. He wanted to let me know they wouldn't move any alcohol, solvents, or open food. Okay, that's fine, I guess. Not exactly what I was promised, but I can manage. The movers arrive. The first thing out of the team lead's mouth: oh, no. We don't have enough boxes. I told him he had to be kidding. Nope. The move was suddenly going to cost $2400, $750 more than it cost me to move 30 miles farther with more stuff in 2018. Oh, and they weren't going to touch any liquids at all. And I didn't have a choice -- it was take the deal or have my stuff out on the street. I focused on trying to keep my terrified cats calm while they packed. We got to the new place and got unloaded. Okay, fine. I went back to the old place and found that they hadn't just refused to touch any liquids at all, but that they'd packed some open food items but not others, packed some liquids but not others, and left the bathroom largely intact because...liquids, I guess? It wasn't anywhere close to "you won't have to lift a finger." Beyond the items I identified not to be packed so that I could transport them, like my dad's ashes, they left three carloads of stuff. I see now why they wanted to use more boxes. They used that to increase their bill. They put those unbreakable plastic Sterilite shelves in a box. They put large items that didn't need anything done to them to move them in wardrobe boxes and charged me $12 for each. They put a plastic moving crate with a lid on it in a box. They put a box I'd packed but hadn't yet sealed in another, larger box, surrounded it with packing paper, and charged me for the privilege. THEY PUT A BOX IN A BOX. And wouldn't you know it? They used the *exact* amount of boxes the team lead guessed they'd need on sight. Funny, that. Not a single one left over, but plenty of boxes half full. So, if you want movers who will sell you boxes at 300% markup to pad their bill and increase their estimate by $1000 over the number they used to get you to book? Go with Zip. read more

Without a doubt, my worst experience with movers (and this was my 10th move). I liked that they had positive ratings and their online website seemed really good. I entered all my information and all my inventory for the move. They called me and we discussed the move details. I told them that I would box everything and they sent me some free boxes (not enough and mostly small but it was a help). I had asked for partial packing since I assumed that I had to pay for the breakdown of the beds and things like the artwork. I was told that it was included and they would bring plenty of blankets. I also informed them that there was a time sensitivity because the elevator at the new place was only until 4 and that I would have to pay extra to the building if it ran past 4pm. They promised to leave their location at 7 and should arrive at 8 at the latest. On move day, they arrived late (past 9am), and then said that everything that was in bags had to be in boxes, because they don't move bags (well that was never communicated or stated on their website), so then they delayed further putting all the bagged items into boxes. Finally the move happened and they seemed generally efficient. However, they managed to damage a wall in the new place, one of the dressers, the bed and the dining room table (a small chip in the glass top). Could have been worse. Oh, but wait... they did not finish until 6pm costing me $200 at the new place. Oh wait again, the bill was $800 more than agreed because of the boxing. So $1000 more than agreed and damages to a wall and furniture. I spent the last three months arguing with them until they agreed to refund me $300. So a $700 dollar lesson that this company is a scam. They get you with a nice website and what seems like a reasonable price, but get you later with charges on move day. As a parting gift just to rub salt into the wound, they damage your property. Buyer beware with this company. Highly recommend to look elsewhere for a good moving experience, because you won't find it here. read more

This is a question of you get what you pay for. The movers were very nice, however: They arrived 15 minutes late for a very tight move in window, then wanted to leave to get breakfast. We had to buy them breakfast through DoorDash to get them to stay. They left the trash on the front porch. Even though we provided an inventory list - the movers left major pieces (bedroom lounge chair, 2 bedside tables (that went under the headboard for the bed!!) and several smaller items that they were told to move. It took them more than an hour to arrive at the destination (which during non-rush hour should have taken about 30-40 minutes). All but one dish in a box they packed broke, When I reached out to the company to let them know and get them to complete the move by bringing the items they left behind, they never followed through This move was for my 93 year old father that was moving into a senior living community, so you can imagine what it is like for him, with cognitive decline, to have moved without all the items he cherishes.They left without a walk through of the house where we would have been able to identify that these items were left behind. We unfortunately ended up giving them $125 tip (because neither of us knew the other was tipping them). They did help us get the items in their appropriate place. However, To have the company ghost me on completing the move is more than disappointing. read more

I needed to book a moving company and heard back from Zip almost immediately after I reached out to receive an estimate. They contacted me a few days before my move to confirm what items I had and clearly communicated their arrival time when moving day came. The movers, Francys and Juan, arrived exactly at the time they estimated and proceeded to pack and move everything quickly but with care. My two notes of disappointment are based on pricing. 1. To save space, I put all of my clothing in vacuum-sealed bags. However, I was told that the bags had to go into boxes that I didn't have, which meant I had to use Zip's boxes - an additional fee. Had I known that would be the case, I would have packed differently or gotten boxes myself. 2. The estimate I received before booking Zip was similar to that of most moving companies, but I still believe that cost is too high. In general, moving companies could lower their prices and still offer a quality experience given that what they provide will always be needed. I hope Zip's leadership sincerely considers lowering prices moving forward. read more

Scammed out of $3,717 dollars! After paying my deposit and initial installment totalling $3,717.53, Zip "SCHEDULED" my pickup on 6/27 between 12-3pm. On 6/27, I reached out to their moving coordinator at approx 1:30pm for an ETA on the movers. She confirmed via email "the movers are on the way, don't worry they will arrive within the ETA window" (12-3pm). At 2:45pm, I received a call from the driver of an unknown moving company (named something USA) calling to advise he was NOT going to arrive because the previous customer didn't pay and the movers were not going to unload their goods. As a customer, that should not be MY problem. Zip received my money and did not provide the service promised on 6/27. As a result of their failure to perform, I had to pay unnecessary hotel expenses because ZIP was contracted to pick up my belongings on 6/27. Therefore, I needed to reserve a hotel on that day in order to sleep on a bed. They failed to arrive and did not offer any reimbursement. The following day 6/28, 3 men arrived to my home in a U-Haul truck and plain clothing. No uniforms, no logos, no truck ads. I had no way of knowing who these men were and I was NEVER informed by ZIP about SUB-CONTRACTING with other moving companies. The driver knew nothing about WHERE or IF my items would be stored or WHEN I would receive my items. He had NO information. Zip's website is deceitful because it displays employees wearing company shirts with logos and company trucks with Zip advertisement. Their mission also states "Zip Moving & Storage provides professional movers at your disposal... for every move. Our fleet consists of trucks specially equipped for relocation". This is false advertisement because a U-Haul truck is clearly NOT part of THEIR fleet. The male driver walked through my home and then began demanding more money just by LOOKING at my items. Again, I've never had any interaction with this man and I did not know anything about his affiliation with ZIP. When I explained to him that my contract was with Zip, the man became very aggressive and began talking extremely loud in another language while standing in my garage. This was incredibly unprofessional and intimidating! Zip initially explained the price COULD change based on total WEIGHT, so why did the driver attempt to charge more money BEFORE weighing my items?? I felt unsafe as a single woman being addressed in this aggressive manner by 3 unknown men in a U-Haul truck and street attire DEMANDING more money. Each time I called Zip, the response was once again "we'll call you back in 5 minutes". Five minutes passed and no call back. The Zip supervisor suddenly had an "urgent matter" and disappeared and never returned my call. As a result of ZIP DROPPING the ball SEVERAL TIMES while knowing I had to vacate on the 28th because I just sold my home, I ultimately had to call a reliable moving company, which happened to arrive in 2 hours, NOT 2 days. Out of $3,717.53 paid to ZIP for nothing, ZIP only refunded $609 dollars and took no accountability for their actions or failures. ZIP refused to provide a full refund and kept $3,108.53 for doing absolutely NOTHING!! They indicated they would not refund my money because I canceled!! Again, Zip was a NO SHOW on the scheduled date on 6/27. Not to mention feeling UNSAFE around the aggressive man ZIP sent to my home in a U-HAUL truck and street attire. Their website lists a number of inconsistencies. I was NOT contacted in a timely manner, I did NOT receive assistance from the "crew leader", I did NOT receive a revised estimate (only a verbal demand for money), and finally when things fell apart the so called "customer service" and "supervisor" did NOTHING. This company has VERY questionable tactics and I have filed a complaint with the BBB. I will continue all efforts until I receive a full refund. Moving is one of the most stressful things in the world. Zip moving movers made it so easy. The workers were communicative polite, hard-working, and had a positive attitude all day. I have never had a moving experience that I would call good. In fact I would call this moving experience great. I especially want to thank Francys, Juan, Pablo, and Frances! Things went well at first! They were super organized and had a good method for taking inventory and they had strong communication along the way. They actually arrived on time and were professional until they over charged for time they were working and left me with a now broken expensive tv. They have been quiet ever since despite saying they would call me. They just shove you to some third party insurance company that they claim is a fair third party but who just asks you for paperwork that was not given to you. In the end while I thought this would be the best moving company I have worked with and in many ways they were it now all seems like a scam since they did not do what they said they would and overcharged me. Don't be fooled. Avoid. This company is much more focused on marketing puff than true customer service excellence. What a let down. read more

I hired this company to do a move in June 2022. They sent very efficient and friendly workers who are focused on getting the job done and the time allotted. They were very careful and moving an upright piano and other valuables like a large artisan-made metal room divider. I would definitely hire them again but I am hoping to never have to move again! read more

We used this company to move my parents several states away. They were shady and dishonest from the far go. Several valuable oriental rugs were stolen while in Zip's care. Most of the China was smashed when it arrived. Precious furniture broken. They kept talking all about how they were considering reimbursing us and completely ghosted us eventually. They did not stand by any of there verbal or written warrantees and used subcontractors the whole way through. This company perpetrated fraud and is malicious. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

I worked with ZIP Moving for my townhouse move to townhouse in September 22. Absolutely recommend these people as they are professional, careful and friendly . Their price might not seem to be the cheapest at first glance as I asked for a couple of bids ( one of the expensive) . They were extremely professional on consultation and knew what they were doing among all other competitors. That's why I worked with them and saw the profession and expertise during the move. You will not regret it if you go with zip for your move. Zip wasn't the least expensive quote but I'm really glad I went with them. I find when it comes to movers you often get what you pay for. We moved yesterday from a townhouse to a single-family home and the move included a washer and dryer. The washer was ridiculously heavy. I had the pleasure of working with Milos, Jefrey and Orlando on my move and these gentlemen or wonderful. They took great care to ensure my belongings were safe and they did a wonderful job. They were even incredibly kind to my daughter who was there for the move. It can be hard on kiddos and she actually had fun, but it didn't slow them down a bit. They were just kind and professional the entire time. One thing to note -- make sure you ask them to include in your quote the cost of them using blankets, for some reason that was a surcharge, it just didn't occur to me that I would have to pay for them to use blankets to protect the items. So again, not necessarily a bad thing, but make sure you ask about that cost when you're getting a quote. Thank you ZIP!! read more

Zip Movers were great! They gave me a detailed (relatively accurate) quote ahead of time and in the end, they came in under the quote. The men that came were on time, very cordial, and took great care to wrap and protect our furniture. At the other end, they assisted putting everything back together.
