The recreation center consists of Tennis and Golf - its inside a much larger park with library next door. Very impressive amenities at this park. The tennis courts were in good condition and many people were enjoying the golf space. Little kids can enjoy the play structure and there is something for all ages here. At the Moscone Recreation Center is a Marina District park. It got the club house, four tennis court, golf area, 4-baseball field, children fun playground, it's a wonderful spot to hang out to enjoy & relaxed at the Marina area. It's the Best!!! Plus, sometimes you have to deal with a crazy & annoying loud homeless people & it's public. But, in life I have to deal with it, in a mature & professional way. Also without fear of paparazzi... and more importantly, of the homeless. After brunch at the Brixton, we came to the park to scope out dogs (a strange but thoroughly enjoyable pastime for me and my friend). Neither of us had been inside the rec center though, which looked like it could be a modest weekend villa. We checked it out and shot a few baskets with a nearby ball. How's that Barbara Streisand song go... Memories, light the corners of my mind... Located in the scenic Marina District, this park embodies the many life changes in my life. From being a grade school tot to aging athlete(?! who am I fooling), this park witnessed my pains, triumphs, happiness, and sadness. Here's a quick summary: Highlights: a) Playing our team's first playoff game, after getting trounced for many years. b) Winning the Men's Open BB championship and finally making it to A-Ball! c) Hitting a called home run in a coed game after the other four consecutive guys also hit home runs. Lowlights: a) Getting my first fat lip from a foul tip while catching in a pickup game at age eleven (Duh... that's why catchers wear masks?!). b) Tearing a ligament in my left foot when stepping in a sprinkler hole, wearing my cleats. This park also has tennis courts, a small indoor gymnasium, clubhouse room (table tennis, etc.), three softball diamonds, one baseball diamond (mostly high school games), an asphalt basketball court (outdoors), and small playground area. There are stands and bleachers on each field for the comfort of the players and audience. The fields are very well kept, evidenced by many playoff and championship games being played here. Parking can sometimes be tricky if there are events or functions being held in the Marina or Fort Mason. Nestled in the Marina District, safety is normally not an issue here. From being a young tyke thinking that he was invincible, I became a realist that there are limits in life. But so far, it certainly has been a fun ride! read more

Moscone has four courts split into two different areas. At one side near the library, the courts are sweet and somewhat well kept. It's isn't so dirty and the nets have center straps. The surface is amazingly clean though there are vines on the fence and your balls may roll into them. These courts are often used and if you got the old folks playing doubles (they do every morning/afternoon) you'll be waiting until the next stone age (btw these guys must have been born during the last one) because they'll play for hours straight. Don't get me wrong, these guys got game, but most people on these courts are not going to honor the SF parks tennis courts usage policy posted on the courts limited play to 30 minutes or one set. On the other side is the nasty half brother to the nice courts. Yeah two other courts sit with no center straps and have bushes all around the fence. The only good thing is that since the courts are so crappy you might have a chance to use them. Nonetheless the Moscone Rec Center can get really windy. Maybe it's because it's closer to the water but it harsh. Overall the Moscone courts represent the only courts in their area so they get busy. Parking is hell after the workday and on weekend so plan on taking a bus if you aren't in walking distance. Overall the courts are usually not available when you want them and the parking problem make this a last option resort. read more

Four well maintained public courts a block from my house. Awesome! The lines can get long, especially on the weekend, so I try to plan ahead and get a court reservation in Golden Gate Park instead. I do like that there is a wall so I can work on my strokes by myself if need be. Bonus points for the cross dresser tennis player! (S)he is a regular. read more

These courts are avg at best but they do have lights. Not much parking in the area though, and as a result.. the courts aren't too busy at night. On the other hand, one side has a blinding light thats right in your face so overall.. I'll be searching for better courts in the city! read more

The indoor basketball courts are open for pick up basketball Mondays and Wednesdays. On Wednesdays it can get quite crowded but they do turn on the scoreboard and play 12 minute games. This is the best public place to play basketball that I have found so far in the city. Though i would be welcome to hear any suggestions that offer more days of the week. read more

The new library facility at Moscone Park is most exceptional. Much bigger than its old counter part, the newly renovated library features more computers, windows for more light, and more space to lounge and read. This is an efficient library for the neighborhood, right next to the playgrounds. read more

The softball infields, especially on fields 1 and 2 need some serious upgrades. There are major holes in the batter's box on both fields. The infields are also uneven and produce bad hops on ground balls. The dugouts on field 2 are so small that a team can barely fit into them. I'm wondering why a city of this caliber cannot improve these fields. These fields are under constant use by various leagues and generate a lot of revenue from these leagues. I feel that the leagues deserve better for the tens of thousands they spend every year to play here. Maybe some artificial turf on the infields while maintaining grass in the outfields? Tremendous and fun place to take your children, with many great things for adults to do too. Beautiful and huge playground, baseball fields, basketball court, tennis courts, grassy fields, real grass putting green and golf driving range into mats, and a good library right next door also. You could spend the entire day here, we have many times, and our children always LOVE it! We highly recommend Moscone Recreation Center as a great place to spend quality time together! read more

told ya i'd come back if i was bored ... it's downtime at work ... =) my lunch, is the next review after this one ... *** Moscone Tennis There are 4 courts in total. 2 right behind the Marina Middle School/Marina Library, whichever way you choose to stand, and there's another 2 that is literally on the streets of Chestnut/Buchanan. Having to be, give or take, 3-4 blocks from me, I'm going to give it 1 star for the convenience factor. I'll prolly give it another star because I don't have to pay no stupid association fee, so that's 2. For non Marina folks, parking can get a bit too hectic. It's a hit or miss. I actually got lucky this past thursday, since work let me off early, considering the fact, I tried coming here every weekend, and i LIVE in the marina, AND on occasional evenings, it was PACKED. something tells me HALF the folks aren't marina people... Sometimes, I wish they would have a sign up list or something, or someone who would regulate the courts because some people, man, have no manners and will play forever and ever and ever...like HEL~LO? A downfall has to be that once you get the court, expect to play roughly an hour or so, only because whoever has the court before you can seriously be there before the clock strikes midnight. *no joke* Have to say that the tennis courts were quite clean, considering the fact that it's a public court (1 star), and the best tip I can give you is that the weather is quite unpredictable, so make sure to bring something to keep you warm, and being a tennis girl, I'm going to give it another star for keeping me in shape, oh and bring some h20 so you don't get dehydrated! 4 stars it is. read more
