I came to Henne in April 2023 to repurpose my grandmother's wedding band and engagement ring as a…read moregift for my mother for my wedding in August 2023. The rings were too small for her fingers and so my grandmother gave me these years and years ago since they didn't fit my mom. My mom had no idea of this surprise and her father (my grandfather) passed away a few months after I was born, so this was extremely special to her. I had brought a bunch of old gold jewelry to scrap to cover the cost of the repurposing and a diamond to mount to the center of the two rings that had a gold band to scrap. The first meeting with Madison was to design the new ring. Ultimately, we were not changing much - just resizing and adding a diamond. She seemed to understand the ask. We waited several weeks and they called to say we could come in and pick up the ring. Upon coming in, we met with a different person than Madison. He was assuming we were just paying out of pocket when I reminded him of the scrap value going towards the ring. He searched and had no idea what I was talking about. I insisted we wait until Madison was in to pay. Upon seeing the new ring, I tried it on, and realized they mounted the diamond to the wrong ring. These two rings are identical, however, they need to be stacked in a certain way to be flush. They didn't check for this and put it on the wrong ring. They covered the cost to fix it but it took the same amount of time as the original (4-6 weeks). Luckily, we approached them months before our actual wedding date with all these delays. Once finished with the fixes, Madison later called to tell us to come in on a specific day when she was working. We came in and got the gold appraisal as well. She pulled out all the old jewelry that I had provided but the gold band to the mounted diamond was not in the pile, which I also wanted to scrap. She went to look and couldn't find or access it. We had to come back again another day because the appraiser (maybe) had it locked up in his office. Finally, we came back to pick up the ring and obtain our scrap cash. Of course this was with a third person that I haven't met with before. But, I tried it on, all good and well - we left. Come day of the wedding, my mom cried, she loved it, etc. However, after wearing it the day of the wedding, two small diamonds got lost. Of course she was devastated, and didn't want me to take on the cost of this after paying for the original repurposing. Note that we did not have a crazy wedding nor is she the type of person to flair her hands around. She went upon herself to take it to a different jeweler who questioned the integrity of Henne given that they didn't put this "industry standard" coating on the rings to 1. Make them shinier 2. Lock in or seal the diamonds in. She had to pay another couple of hundred dollars out of pocket because of Henne's lack of professionalism and quality. I personally will never go back to Henne for any repurposing needs. They did not make this process easy or fun in any way (which was supposed to be a nice surprise for my mother) nor did I feel like my valuable items were in safe hands. I went in twice with my loot and he helped me separate the costume jewelry from the real stuff. I donated all the costume jewelry and told him I would be back to sell the good jewelry when I was comfortable with the spot price of gold. Mark was so kind and even suggested I go to another dealer first, so that I could get more than one quote. So, that's what I did! Yesterday was my day! I got one quote at the first business - which was good, and then took my loot to Mark. His quote was a little bit higher on the exact items. I also asked him to double check some of the jewelry that was not accepted at the first place. Most of that turned out to be gold, so he gave me an additional quote. Mark is very personable and gives you all the time you need. I would recommend this store for their beautiful jewelry as well! I also had Mark size a ring for me last year and he did a great job! These guys do business in an old school, handshake, "look-you-in-the-eye", sort of way. The first week went by with nothing, so we called. He said the stones were a weird size so he had to order different ones, and it would be ready the following Thursday. That Thursday came around and still 0 COMMUNICATION. We called in again, to hear the same thing. That the stones they ordered were not the right size and they would keep in touch. No word AGAIN so we stopped by on Wednesday to see if it was going to be ready for the next day. They said yes and to come get it tomorrow (today). After 3 weeks of being in their hands, I figured it was going to be perfect. ABSOLUTELY NOT. He DESTROYED my engagement ring. The stones do not match at all, bumpy, THE RING IS CROOKED and bent on the inside. It's the WORST job I've ever seen. We walked right back in and got our money back. But he still didn't admit to his mistakes. Said my ring was a "nightmare" and told my fiance when he was ready to come buy a new ring to come to him. WTF. The first jewelry store I went to couldn't do it because the band was rubber (no, not a "gum band," you 'Burghers :) ) That store referred me to Jared's because they sold the brand of watch I received. When I walked into Jared's a woman greeted me at the door and asked how she could help me. I explained what I needed and she led me over to another woman who looked at my watch. While she was looking at it, the greeter asked if I would like some water or a cup of coffee. She agreed that she could adjust the band and explained it was done by cutting off segments. She said she would cut it down one segment at a time and re-measure it on my wrist because you can't go back up a size once it's cut. She took about 15 minutes, alternating between cutting the band and measuring it on my wrist until I was satisfied it fit right. I asked how much I owed. "Nothing, I won't charge you for that," she said. "But I didn't even buy it here, that doesn't seem quite fair," I said. She said, "The next time you need jewelry, I hope you'll think of Jared's and come back and see me." A friendly greeting, offering refreshments, and adjusting a watchband for an item I didn't even purchase from them... for free? I am struggling to imagine how my experience could possibly have been any better. I felt that I could not rate 5 stars since I didn't actually complete a purchase and that should be a factor in the rating. But my experience was 5-star.

They try to pitch their fusing my engagement and wedding rings together bc they rub, but don't all rings that are stacked? Idk it's their job to fix any damage caused to my rings. It's okay. A lot of their jewelry in here is outdated and old lady looking. If you're looking for an engagement/ wedding ring I'd recommend diamond direct(which apparently they all have the same owner), but this selection is nicer.
