I saw good review for Matthew Burkeen, the owner / plumber & chose to call him to replace 2 outdoor…read morefaucets. I experienced Matthew as personable and friendly. He told me upfront his availability & the cost to replace the 2 outdoor faucets would be around $275 total ($85 per faucet & labor). I texted him to clarify the work I was requesting after that initial call, which he acknowledged. Upon the appt however, he informed me AFTER the work was complete that the charge was double the original quoted price due to "extra fittings." In my opinion it was unprofessional to not communicate this upfront (prior to starting or finishing the work) and although he took some $ off and apologized, it felt off to me. I understand prices can change upon a situation however, please talk to the client directly prior to the work or ASAP. I contacted Matthew for a paper trail afterwards to clarify materials used & he proceeded to tell me that I initially only requested 1 faucet (why the price was different than expected) when I have documentation showing my initial text with date confirming 2 faucets. Apart from the communication topics, the work appears to be resolved decently enough. I want to support local family businesses yet would have reservations using this company again. I hope this situation inspires improved communication.
