I have an annual bonfire event every year and our normal park was closed. We chose Moss Park as our location for this year. I grew up nearby and used to come here every other weekend. It's always been, and still is, a lovely and peaceful park. Full of exploration, adventure, joy, with so many opportunities for so many types of events, get together, celebrations, etc. We reserved a multi-family sight and with support from the park staff we were able to use the group camp site that had a nice big bone fire ring, which is where we had our celebration. It's was just isolated enough from the rest of the park we were able to listen to music, talk, and go adventuring around a little bit. We're definitely coming back next year! This is the PERFECT park for a campfire, bone fire, lake swimming, and overnight camping. read more

Easy trails but pretty muddy or just tilled. I'd go again but thankful I couldn't bring my dog.

My friend and I wanted to get some steps in and see some nature and hiking trails. Since Miss Park is close to where I live, we decided to give it a try. They do charge 3 dollars per vehicle which is not terrible but I feel as if there are better parks that don't charge a fee in the central Florida area..? Maybe I'm wrong bud anyways we drive to park and I understand it's a Sunday but there were groups of parties everywhere blasting music extremely loud. I get you're having a party, but do you have to blare your music so that everyone in the park can hear it? We decided to try to find some trails but it seemed as is everything was closed off or they were super short. I don't think this is the right park for us to go hiking in. However , when the grounds are not so muddy we did find a large grassy path that will be our next one to try. It's located in picture three. I'd you're looking to hike maybe go somewhere else but if you're trying to grille and throw a party this might be the place for you lol read more

On a weekday morning in February, we were among a small handful of guests enjoying Moss Park. We drove down near the campground area to access the Split Oak Trail which is part marsh and part forest. The hiking surface is a sand road, although no vehicles or bicycles are permitted. You can hear a soft white noise hum of the surrounding roadways and the flight path overhead, but beyond that, all you hear are nature sounds. This was my first visit here and I'm excited to return. $3 admission for 2 guests. Plenty of parking. Watercraft launch area. Lakefront views. Large playground. Picnic pavilions. Hiking trails. I was looking for a place to ride my bike this afternoon that wasn't too far from home. Moss Park looked like a nice place to spend the day, though the website didn't specifically say that they had bike trails. It turned out to be a hidden treasure. Moss Park is on a peninsula between Lake Mary Jane and Lake Hart, and connected to 2,000 acres of Split Oak Preserve. It cost $3 to get into the park. Pets and alcohol are not allowed. There were no designated bike paths but we were told that we could ride on the roads that were made of concrete and sand. It was so peaceful and serene. The preserve has miles pristine and spacious trails with beautiful scenery and wildlife. The park has a beach, boating, fishing, hiking, picnic, and bird watching. They cater to campers, with over 50 RV sites with water hookups and facilities. Riding through the park was very Zen and I hope to come back when the weather gets warmer to kayak. read more

What a great discovery! Since I work and go to school in the new Medical City, I have been spending much more time in the Lake Nona area. I didn't want to go all the way back to my house downtown after getting my hair done out by Waterford so I decided to do a little exploring before heading to class. Thanks to Yelp (of course) I ended up here! A small $3 entrance fee wasn't bad and the park was so peaceful and rather empty. I always carry my hammock with me (ENOs are the best!) so I strung it up on some trees by the lake and got a little studying done. So much better than being stuck inside a coffee shop! I can't wait to come back when I have some more time to explore! read more

they don't tell you this before you reserve a site, call them, or show up for your reservation but NO PETS. i had trouble booking a campsite on their website so i called to ask about it. the girl refused to book me a site and referred me again to the website, which requires you create a login for booking. the site again would not accept my email so my husband had to use his information. the map loads strange on a phone (we don't own a computer) so it's hard to move the map around to select a site or see what is available. we called the day we were driving up to confirm our check in because our breaks went out. fixed them & then drove 2.5 hours from Jupiter, arrived before 6pm when the office closes. they wouldn't let us stay because we have a cat in the RV that they saw through the window. at NO point in time did the website or any staff member mention no pets were allowed. they stated they had already turned away 3 other people for the same reason in the same day, which leads me to believe this is an ongoing problem. they tried to not refund us $92 for our entire stay. because it was after office hours most places, there literally wasn't anywhere for us to call to reserve another site. we asked to stay just the one night to find a place in the morning and they said no. they told us to ask a relative to watch our cat for the week. we're from out of town, live in the RV full time, and it was 6pm so no boarding place was going to be open. when asked why pets are not allowed, one female employee stated, "we're really proud of our wildlife." we have a cat who lives inside the RV who would not in any way be interacting with wildlife. but the worst part by far was having no where to go, not knowing what to do, and these people wouldn't even let us sit in the parking lot to figure out where to go next. one female employee said, "we're off the clock so..." they literally wouldn't even give us time to google search the nearest walmart for directions and no one ever offered their own directions even though they told us to, "just go to walmart." they have an automatic gate with that we could easily have used to leave once we looked at the map and knew where to go in just a few minutes. or, i don't know, be a kind human and wait a few extra minutes to fix a mistake YOU made at work? after such a long day with the RV, the lack of understanding and compassion from people who are enforcing a ridiculous rule that they didn't make clear in the first place was incredibly disappointing. read more

This park is located in a very serene setting. They have some nice shady areas for picnics, and a camping area. They also have a pretty nice beach on the lake. If we don't feel like driving all the way to Cocoa Beach, sometimes we come here to get out in the sun for a little while. It costs a few bucs to get in and no pets or alcohol is allowed. read more

This is surely the BEST park to observe Florida's finest nature & wildlife. And it is the largest! Huge trees with years & years of long spanish moss hanging greeted us as we entered the park. We just loved the scenery, its amazing. We saw sandhill cranes and their chicks, up close & personal on our nature walk. There was even a guide with a cart load of taxedermied animals and he was talking & talking about them. The kids LOVED that part. They got to touch a cougar & snakes ;) There is an entry fee into the park, but it was worth it. We need to preserve this gem for future generations. There is also camping, swimming in the lake, playgrounds, nature walks with guides, pavillion rentals, softball fields, sand volleybal. We will be going back, as its a wonderful place for families. Perfectly out of the way! It was just gorgeous!!l read more

Beautiful, huge and amazing park near Lake Nona area!! Let's start off by saying that there's an entrance fee of $3.00 per vehicle (that covers up to two people) or a $5.00 fee for vehicles with 3-8 people. Honestly, nobody should complain about the fee since it helps maintain this beautiful park. This park has lots of fun areas to visit. First off, as a Geocacher, I have to point out that there are several challenging (Which I have yet to find) and non-challenging Geocaches for the whole family to enjoy. Also, you can make a day visit or stay in their campgrounds for a weekend with friends or family (Alcohol is not allowed though). They have lots of picnic tables, a clean water source and even Restrooms with showers as well! There's this amazing lake where you can go for a swim, fish or even go for a boat ride. Keep in mind this is a huge park so do not neglect to ask for a map at the entrance gate and feel free to ask for guidance from the friendly park rangers...Also, remember that like any park, you will probably encounter wildlife (hopefully only deers and squirrels) and that you should take appropriate equipment and clothes (even if going for a day trip). This place is truly beautiful and well taken care off and I hope to visit it soon! read more

We had our annual staff picnic at Moss Park in September 2010. There are plenty activities - swimming, a sandy beach, sand volleyball courts, horseshoes, a nature trail, and a large playground with real swings. Plus, the park is very large, so there's room for everyone. In my opinion, this park is the best picnicking park in Central Florida for a group, with a generous amount of shade and plenty of picnic tables and built-in grills throughout. You can also reserve one of the five or six well-equipped picnic pavilions for a reasonable fee. Moss Park is about a 25 minute drive from downtown Orlando. Highly recommended! ps, the park has both a no-alcohol and no-pets rule. read more

They don't make playgrounds like they used to anymore...which is a good thing, because playgrounds and parks these days are so much better than what they were when I was growing up. It seems like there is more to do and more fun to be had. It's even better when the park has more than just a play area, but also plenty of room to run around in, a lake to swim in and fun events year round. This describes Moss Park in a nutshell. Moss Park is not your average, fun of the mill, neighborhood park. It's enormous in size and has so much to do within. Admission is only $3 to $5 per car, which is usually about a $1 per person...you can't beat that these days! In the heart of the park is the play area which has the usual swing set, slides, monkey bars and a bunch of other structures to climb on and around. It's not the most modern playground, but still manages to keep kids entertained and moving around. If you want a cheap weekend getaway not too far from home and you enjoy the outdoors, you can actually stay overnight in the park and camp out with you friends or family...or both. There are grill areas throughout the park and plenty of spots to park an RV in or pitch a tent. If you up for a swim, there is make shift beach area with a nice big lake to cool you off in the summer months. However, I would be careful before jumping right in. Make sure there are no gators around for safety. You'll notice right away that the lake water has a reddish tint. I'm told this is not a bad thing, but I don't know that I believe that. Personally, I stick to laying out on the sand. Throughout the year several events take place here. I know there are a few triatholons and race as well as a haunted hayride that happens during the month of October every year. The park's location is rather secluded so be sure to pack plenty of munchies if you plan on spending the day there. Bathroom facilities are located throughout, but they're not the cleanliest of places to utilize. Overall, not bad. read more

Moss Park is a nice, close retreat from the everyday life. I am lucky enough to live very nearby this park in Lake Nona, and enjoy the convenience of a 10 minute drive to be closer to nature - you definitely feel farther away than you really are! Due to its proximity, I've never felt the need to camp there, but the facilities seem nice enough, and there always seems to be families and couples enjoying the paths and picnic areas. The value is great too...only $3 for a car, but don't forget your cash, because they don't accept credit cards...I had an embarrassing experience that resulted in me traveling back to Publix to get cash back so I could pay the entrance fee =) Last week, I had the pleasure of running a 5k here in the Moss Park running festival and it was very unique to race through the paths. The race I registered for was at night, so paths were lit through the woods, and we wore glow sticks. It was a awesome experience, which I would recommend to any runner, novice to advanced! read more

Wow!! Great place for running. I did 3 races in 12 hours and took the same route through this park and each time it was prettier. It's surrounded by lots of large lakes... Buoys were out in the lakes and people were swimming, running and biking. The grounds are clean, there are boat launch areas, even campgrounds right on the lake - really awesome place. It's a BIG area, very forest like. There are a bunch of different trails if you're into trail running/walking. Lots of shade and a play area for kids. This was one of the funnest races I've ever done. If I lived in Orlando, I would be utilizing this park every weekend. There is a park entrance fee of $3.00 per vehicle (two of us in the car, if that matters). Only concern of mine is that I never found an actual bathroom, only a small line of portapotties, which were really clean. I looked around and drove by some of the buildings doing a light bathroom-scope, but had no luck. I was only there for the races so I didn't get the opportunity to explore as I would've liked. From the way this place is organized and well kept, I would think there are bathrooms, just beware. I'm searching for the next running event at this park - so much fun! read more

I remember coming here as a kid and camping with church. The park is not very busy but it is a little off the beaten path. I am not complaining. We decided to fish here but unfortunately could not swim because of rising bacteria levels in the lake. Welcome to Florida summers. The boat traffic was moderate and jet skis were still allowed in. The two lakes are connected by a small canal which is where I took my daughter to fish for her first try. As luck would have it she caught a tiny little guy within seconds, literally. She was thrilled. The playground here is excellent and enormous. This is a nice break and not so far away that you have to spend hours driving around. Overall, a nice park with all the amenities that you could ask for. One of the best around the Orlando area and entry will not break the bank. read more

In my Top 5 Favorite go to parks in Lake Nona. Take your kids and let them just run free til their good and tired! Good choice

Went there yesterday with my boat, my kids and my grandson. I've never been made to feel more unwelcome at a lakeside park. It once was a fun place to go boating and you can still launch your boat. After that you must plan on spending the rest of the day on your boat because you cannot dock or beach your boat anywhere in the park. This is due to the young girl getting bitten on the leg by a gator in 2017. As might be expected the county was sued by her parents and that is there right. Isn't that why the county has liability insurance? However the county is now so lawsuit paranoid that you can no longer swim or do any activity involving getting wet along the shoreline. And the park employees were serious in there enforcement of those rules. We have visited Moss Park for the last time. Hopefully nobody gets hurt at any other parks. Aren't parks supported in part by our taxes? read more

Super average park. I expected more ESP with the dog rules and service animal issue I read about. It was very disappointing to find out my animal wasn't allowed there. Its very open and somewhat private so that's a plus. They did have a clean up crew and workers all over the place so that was good also. Otherwise eh. read more

I have camped here several times with my Cub Scout den and we always have a great time. The group camp sites are spacious, offer plenty of picnic tables and have nearby access to a water source and bath houses/restrooms. If you are lucky and there aren't a lot of other campers, you will see tons of wildlife. We just had a leaders campout and were the only ones in the group sites. We saw a lot of different wildlife including deer (and two fawns with their spots), a garter snake, fox squirrel, turkey with her babies, armadillo, cardinals, blue jays and Hawks. If you're into geocaching, there are a lot of caches hidden throughout the park and with permission, you can hide one yourself if you like. There is fishing available, a boat launch, playground for kids and plenty of shade. Camp fires are allowed in the fire rings at each site. This is a beautiful park and very close to my house, which is a bonus. This place will probably be my dens choice for camping. If you haven't stayed here yet, this one should be on your list. read more

I have been here many times and it's just so peaceful here!!! We wanted to go camping for a few days for New Years Eve/Day weekend but it was booked. We were put on the long waiting list. No one called us, but we decided to call again on Friday to see if there were any openings. I guess a lot of campers decided to leave since the weekend was expecting rain. So we got in! The lots are spacious and the bathroom facilities are great, always clean!!! Not too far of a walk from campsite to bathroom. We always see families of deer which is always on our checklist. We have also seen raccoon, which we didn't see any this trip. It did ended up sprinkling in the morning but not a big deal, we were expecting a sprinkle and we got our stuff out in time. The kids always love exploring the woods, going to the playground, and playing on their dirt mound. We didn't go swimming this time, this was the first day that FL was cold this winter... :) We always look forward to going to Moss Park!!! *No dogs/pets *No alcohol read more

Problem now is that they randomly decided to stop allowing late arrivals and we can't get there by 6 so will have to find a new favorite camping spot. We did some daytime camping here and it was great! Plenty of areas to walk around in the woods or on the beach by the lake. They don't allow alcohol or dogs which kind of stinks. The camp grounds are well equipped with bathrooms and electricity for those of you (like ME) who aren't totally into real camping. The camping lots are kind of close together though, so if you want privacy/quiet, you won't find it here. read more

Went camping for 8 days the campground is great! large park and quiet (off season camping) great fishing my 12 year old nephew had fun catching catfish and bass in the canal! we went camping during the slow season to beat crowds but had to deal with the rainy season we brought plenty of shelter, but be warned the campsites with higher numbers all flooded our site #35 was great. bathroom were clean and showers where very nice, plenty of hot water! one HUGE issue for campers be aware of the over "friendly" Raccoons they will invade your site in groups of 10 and a few will come in the daytime! they dont seem overly aggressive but they are not afraid of people and will sneak up on you! DONT LEAVE ANY FOOD OUT EVER! they seemed to be fans of Smore's ! one night as soon as soon as we had two marshmallows cooked a very large group came RUNNING at full speed into our camp. and seemed very put off we didnt feed them any treats. PLEASE DONT FEED THE ANIMALS they need to be afraid of people they are NOT PETS! the campground also seems to have a major issue with Wild pigs destroying the site i hope the campground management does something about the animal issues like install raccoon safe garbage cans and do more to inform Campers of the wildlife that have been trained by silly humans thinking they are cute!.... read more

Came here to enjoy the playground for a few hours and I brought my service dog. Notice I said SERVICE DOG. I was given a very hard time by a rude lady on a golf cart. Even after I told her he was a service dog she continued to harass me. He's a service dog for a reason. A man on a tractor was involved with telling on me too. This park is beautiful and has great things to offer. I would say you need to work on your staff and educate them in service animals and how to treat people. read more

Kelly F. mentioned the red color in the water. This is a fairly normal for inland Florida waterways where there are cypress trees in or near the water. The rust color comes from the tannic acid that comes from the roots of the cypress trees. It's harmless, but don't plan on wearing a white bathing suit...it may come out looking like burnt orange by the end of the day. read more
