Coffee, smells good and tastes even better.

I wasn't for sure what to expect with our stop at the distillery. At first I had the impression that it was an old service station. Oh was I wrong! Inside the doorway was like a time warp as we entered into an elegant speakeasy! I even had to check a label on a bottle to see if we entered the right door. Every thing was outstanding. We had perfect service and help especially since I was so surprised at my misconception of the place. The four of us, each ordered different cocktails which were superbly made by our host. As we sat and sipped our drinks the relaxation from the outside work projects just slipped away. Instead of finding a Mossback deer like I thought we found a wonderful place that is dear to us now. Named after the towns first name, Mossy Creek, it will always be on our list when visiting the area.

Mossback Distillery is a hidden gem. Don't let the outside fool you the inside is stunning, with a warm, colonial charm that totally surprises you. The whiskey is smooth and flavorful. This distillery is a welcoming stop that feels like a well-kept secret. Definitely worth the visit.

This was my first time to this establishment since I realized they opened about a year ago. It was a nice place to sit, enjoy conversation with friends and sip on a locally crafted drink! The tasting house has a menu that offers a number of cocktails and mocktails with their house made syrups and spirits. You can also buy their spirits by the bottle there as well. They make their own vodka, burbon, whiskey and rum (I believe). I love the speakeasy vibe they created with their decor--it's just lovely! I also love a local business that also partners with and supports other local businesses. The distillery has teamed up with a local farm stand to get some of the fruits they use in their drinks and garnishes, a local business to occasionally serve their cheesecakes, a local coffee roaster, etc. Food trucks are regularly scheduled to be at the tasting house too. My husband got a mojito which he said was pretty good and I enjoyed my French 75. Everything about our visit was pleasant and we will definitely come back!

This is the place…read moreto get the hard stuff that also tastes like an oatmeal cookie or watermelon taffy or a pumpkin roll. When you want to get drunk, but you also need your drink to look electric blue and taste like raspberry, you come here. I'm not the biggest fan of sweet drinks in general, and especially not sweet alcohol. But I wasn't about to pass up an opportunity to taste some of Old Forge Distillery's moonshine and gin. They also make vodka, whiskey and rum. The gin was good! It doesn't taste like traditional gin, because they age it in bourbon barrels, so it has a little bit of a caramel taste to it. (In my opinion.) The moonshine and the cream liqueurs are where you will find the crazy flavors. I think my favorite was the coffee moonshine, which tastes like a wonderfully spiked black coffee. Samples are plentiful. The bartender told us which ones were crowd favorites, and also recommended some that I would not have picked myself. They also have a huge gift shop with lots of tchotchkes, plus bottles of their goods to take home with you.

Really cute concept. My biggest issue, the service. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but the bartenders were rude. So rude 2 couples in my party didn't even end up ordering a drink. 3 stars because I'm giving the benefit of the doubt, but it definitely put a damper on my groups experience!

Good vibe, good food and a great stopping spot for a meal and drink…read more The server was friendly and attentive, told us about the free tasting at the bar after dinner, and made some recommendations. Food was typical/good. Service was slow & discombobulated…read more It happens. But I take real issue with their pet "friendly" claim. Maybe "pet tolerant", but not "friendly": - hostess was visibly & audibly afraid of dogs. We have two sweet chocolate labs, not exactly menacing creatures. Why in the world would you send a dog-fearing employee to get us seated? - we expected an offer of a water bowl for our pups. Nope. Had to find a server and ask for one. - the outdoor area we sat at is enclosed & gated. A door separates this outdoor area from the inside dining room. In spite of this, 10 minutes after being seated, a separate employee came out and simply said "do yall have leashes?" 1- of course we do, you saw us walk them in. 2- no greeting or "hey, I'm blah blah"... cold & impersonal. 3- why bother with the cost of a gated enclosure if pets have to be leashed anyway? We've been to many pet-friendly restaurants. You are NOT pet-friendly. You happily took our money for the meal, and added a 20% gratuity yourselves (which was not earned btw), but you barely did enough to accommodate our pups, let alone be considered "friendly". We didn't feel they were welcome, and certainly no "friendly" environment experienced. We won't be back. See how Calhouns defines "pet friendly". Y'all might learn something. To diners with pups: You want "pet friendly"? Skip this place.
