If you go to Knoxville and you like whiskey (or vodka, gin, rye, rum et al), you definitely need to go here for a tasting. You can get a tasting flight of 13 of their distilled spirits (I'd guess that equals 3-4 shots) for the incredible price of $10, and if you purchase something after the tasting, you get $5 off of the purchase price. It's a cute little place just a short walk from Old City (downtown). The staff are friendly and the vibe is casual, fun and cozy. Our favorites were the smoky gin and the rye 95, but pretty much all of their spirits were good (well, the unaged corn whiskey -- aka "moonshine" was not my thing, basically it's like drinking rubbing alcohol). Whiskey tasting was great! For my first time visiting Knoxville, I had to try some Tennessee Whiskey. Whitney & Tanner were fun & welcoming during our visit. The spirit flight was about $9 for 12 samples. We tried gin, vodka, and whiskey.... oh my! The dry gap barrel gin, fleur de vie liqueur, and the old city cold brew coffee liqueur were my favorite samples. I also finished up with a delicious rosemary whiskey sour. We had a great time at Knox Whiskey Works easily one of our favorite stops on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, if not the favorite. Z was our bartender and she made the whole experience a blast. We bonded over our mutual love of Costco and ended up buying matching Costco sweaters (she was already wearing one) by the end of the tasting. Instant friendship. We picked up the Deals Gap Dragon Tail honey habanero whiskey. It's hot, sweet, and unique. Fun tip: throw it in the freezer and it turns more peppery, with the sweetness dialed back. Knox Whiskey Works does a great job with their product. as far as the facility itself, there isn't a whole lot of room there. If you're a singleton like I was, no big deal. My sister in law and I were exploring Knoxville a few weekends ago and stopped by the Whiskey Works, shortly after it opened on a Saturday (we tried not to look to desperate for whiskey, I promise). For a while we were the only ones there which was nice. The guy working was extremely friendly and talkative and is in charge of creating many of the cocktails they sell. We decided to do a flight of their liquors and we tried a select few. I especially enjoyed their gin, their dragon tail whiskey, and their Fleur de Vie floral liqueur. The floral liqueur was really nice and I wish I had gotten a bottle. I still might if I'm passing through again! It would be perfect for a cool summer cocktail. We also tried their cocktail flight and I was impressed! My favorite was the pomegranate peppercorn but I truly enjoyed all of them. And I appreciate them offering a flight of cocktails so you can try some of each! Very clever. We also tried their special Valentines cocktail and it was delicious. This place is so cute and has some seriously delicious booze. Small inside but very welcoming and cozy. The owner was so friendly and explained to us all we needed to know about the different whisky, vodkas, etc they had. You can do flights which is awesome. We eneded up getting a bottle of their Maple Rum which was one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted. I don't even like run but I was drinking this straight. This place is so cool!!! I wish I had discovered this place earlier in my trip to Knoxville rather than right before my 2 hour drive home. How cool to have a spot downtown that distills a bunch of different types of liquor! My first impression upon entering Knox Whiskey Works was that it is decorated/organized in a way that is super pleasing to the eye and just asking to be photographed. The colorful labels of the liquor bottles all arranged perfectly on shelves is gorgeous. I actually noticed their labels when I was at a bar earlier in the weekend and thought to myself "I must find that liquor!" aha, I sure did! Knox Whiskey works makes Gin, Vodka, Whiskey, Coffee Liqueur and my favorite that I tried was the Dragon Tail Whiskey with honey and habanero. It is perfectly balanced and not very spicy like it sounds. I am looking forward to going back this summer and trying their cocktail flight---what!?
