**********WARNING*********** **********WARNING*********** **********WARNING*********** This dog park for sure deserves 5 stars, but just recently a newcomer has come and ruined it for two of us dog owners . Middle Eastern woman that drives a platinum grey 2012 Honda Civic . She carries a large stick (to beat her dogs if they don't cooperate) and owns 2 Siberian Huskies light grey coats about the same age with Red Collars and Red Leashes . First Attack happened to our dog on April 30th, 2017 Second Attack happened to a different owner of a wiener dog on May 9th, 2017

This park has been moved multiple time in recent years and FINALLY it's found a home. What makes the park great is that it's split between bigger dogs and smaller dogs. Which is pretty excellent. My 120lb pup can be a bit of jerk on occasion, add on top that he's not such a social butterfly since he hit 11. Usually I take him during off hours and he prefers to just hang out next to me rather than play with a pup half his age. In the center common area, there's a wonder place to picnic and just relax, read a book. The space is nearly triple that of the previous dog park. It truly is one of the better dog parks in the area. A lot of local dogs. Also, know of a few people who drive from Modesto few times a week to visit. We never stay too long since old boy get tired and picking up that moose isn't going to happen. After a half hour we bounce and go to Starbucks and get him a tall cup of whip. He goes ape!

Plenty of space in both small and large dog play areas. Dogs are friendly and well cared for, lots of small pups in the evenings. Some are folks from the neighborhood, others from nearby cities. Everyone is warm and welcoming. Wish it had a people potty!

American Legion Park is probably the iconic park of Stockton. I'm not saying it's the best park,…read morebut it is the park that most resembles "old" Stockton in that the entire city used to congregate here for the 4th of July decades ago. First, Stockton wasn't always on the wrong side of a population 350k or more. I remember when we were about half that in the early 80's. This park was the premiere location to hang out and just relax. There really isn't much for facilities here. There is basketball, a kids playground and that's about it. The grassy bank protecting the 'hood from flooding is kinda cool because it provides an interesting pathway around the park and the Smith Canal. There are some concrete tables and benches if you want to throw a quick BBQ or just share some beers during COVID. You can fly a drone and get some great pics of Stockton from about 500 feet. You can throw a frisbee and lose in said Canal. You can talk a dog for a nice walk around and double back or shoot all the way to Pershing and make a loop. In short, this isn't the largest, most beautiful, or even the best facilites, but the location matters and this place used to the heart of Stockton when times were a lot better (kid of the 80's, greatest decade ever)!

Going to this park was nostalgic. I used to go to this park all the time and fish a long time ago…read more It was surprisingly quiet, I don't know why but I thought it would be more active. I visited this park on mother's day. They do have lots of green grass area, a lake or the pond ...I don't know if that's the body of water from the delta. Anyway, it's a cool spot to take the family to, if you don't want to go to the sometimes overcrowded Victory Park down the street.

Our family had a campsite here this week - in June. We've been camping all over the Eastern Sierras…read moreand Yosemite, so maybe we're used to nicer campgrounds. It took a LONG time to get entrance into the park - like a 20-30 mins. It had potential but some problems that need to be addressed. No camp host on site, which I think is why the restrooms aren't cleaned regularly. The bathrooms are also quite the walk from most campsites. Also know it'll be warm and buggy in June. There are lots of invasive vines in the oaks, so you can't really admire the trees. Bring bug spray and your floats. Our kids liked the slow float down the river in their inner tubes.

Nice little river area but lots of mosquitos, small sites, charge for the showers. We booked two nights, left a night early - bathrooms were disgusting, p*ss everywhere, people had phones plugged into chargers in the bathrooms, and one site set up a full PA and karaoke stand which they blasted non-stop and off-key the first night until midnight. Had little kids with us otherwise would have just rolled with it. Giving the park 2 stars because while the river is nice, the experience was brutal and trying to get a refund has been a headache.
