The only good thing about this motel was that it was super close to the airport. Our room Wasn't even ready when we got there even though we had our room key. The door was wide open and half made up for us. When I went to find a housekeeper or go to front desk, the housekeeper yelled at me saying the room was clean. Clean, yeah, but it wasn't made up. She was bringing comforters and pillow cases to put on. The comforters had cigarette burns in them. The bathroom was in bad condition. The ceiling was practically falling apart. The tiles were separating from the wall. The shower fixture wasnt attached right. If I had any indication they would give me a refund I would have asked and checked out but it was already late and it was for one night since we were leaving early the next morning. read more

The absolute worst! the front desk person was rude and not helpful at all. You have to self-park and there aren't any spots for you. FOR EWR Parking, Do not bother to park here. unless you want a terrible experience! Shuttle service pick up on arrival took almost an hr to show up! I had to call 7 times before someone answered. This is rough hotel, but only because it's not in the best shape and needs an absolute remodel. But the people who stayed here weren't part of this equation as it wasn't like druggies or prostitutes. This room truly is out of a horror film. The proprietor has to be a "special person" to allow anyone to pay for this non-refundable room. Dumpster a few feet outside front window. Half painted bathroom. Warning stickers on soap for National Trafficking hotline. Busy highway steps from the front door that has a gap (mice need not duck to come and go). The room next door is dark and door is open all night for....? Recommendation: good place for street people to pool their money/come in out of the rain/stash their shopping carts. Tuesday, my flight from San Francisco to Newark was delayed 3 hours and I missed my connecting flights from Newark to Lome, Togo, Africa then Lagos, Nigeria, Africa. THANKS ALOT ALASKA AIRLINES. The next flights were not leaving from Newark to Africa until another two days.  Expedia KINDLY made the room reservation at the Motel 6 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. SMH.  They did have a shuttle to pick me up at my terminal.  He arrived within 10 minutes.  He gets 5 stars!!! Management at this place OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED of themselves.  Like The Grinch... The three words that best describe this dump are as follows, and I quote: "Stink" "Stank" "Stunk"!!!!!! Room 103 NEEDS SOME SERIOUS HELP!!!. Fire detector: Not working Carbon Monoxide detector: Not working Phone: Not working I do not know why they just didn't remove the broke-down dresser. Every drawer was broken....including the damn handles....decoration I guess. The shower head was broken. Turned on the shower and water shot clear across the room. Could've put an eye out. The door is NOT secure at all. I could look straight through the door frame. This 32° chill came right through the door all night....both nights. The second day I went to the front desk and told them that I didn't need housekeeping. I guess she didn't get the message. She walked straight in the room AND THE TOP SECURITY LATCH DIDN'T EVEN WORK. My family and I stayed at this infested death trap, the rooms are loaded with bedbugs, roaches and flies. People pay to stay here while night walkers aka junkies get to sleep at your door after hell raising all night. When I try to explain why my stay was not good I was told take it up with management. This place is the worst. Booked and paid on Expedia before coming. When I arrived, it went from 'you don't have anything booked' to 'we don't have any rooms'. Eventually, I got a room. A room with no microwave, fridge or lamps. The bathroom is in dire need of being repaired by a professional. The ceiling has water spots everywhere and the floor is warped and uneven. They didn't complete my check in and tried to give the room I was sleeping in away at 1am. The area is unsafe in general but, with all the people coming in and out of rooms and hanging out in the parking lot, I would advise not going out alone. There is always someone in the parking lot screaming no matter what time of day All in all, you get less than what you pay for here read more

If I could take away a star, I would , I got a few words words. Filthy, rip off, run away. I live in San Diego and I can honestly say I have stayed in way better filthy joints in Tijuana Mexico. The airport got closed . Our flights were canceled. and we were forced to pay $400 for a room at this filthy dump. I think I would've rather spent the night on the street. It would've been equivalent I never felt so ripped off or unsafe in my life. Do yourself a favor and if you have a chance to stay on the street do so and save the money it's safer and cleaner this is 100% my honest opinion. The one star I have assigned means this place met my low expectations. We just needed a place to sleep on our weekend jaunt to visit dear friends and we weren't disappointed. (Any more than we expected to be.) The poor customer service at check-in was the harbinger of a disappointing stay ahead for us. Having just found out that the hotel offered military discounts, I asked to switch the reservation to my name and the clerk was unwilling to change it. I didn't realize it at the time, but it was a brilliant maneuver to ensure we wouldn't be back in the future. On another positive note, we got the biggest room (nothing big about it except the exceptional amount of dirty fingerprints all over the walls and the doors). Once inside, our eyes feasted on what could only be described as a train wreck. The smoke detector looked like it had been forcibly removed (I presume bc it was a "smoking" room. ). My other thought was that it was a training amenity for anyone wanting to become either a terrorist or an electrician. Next, I looked up and saw drooping ceiling tiles. I'm fairly certain that it's not a new design trend in hotel room decor, but you never know. I was a bit concerned about it falling on me overnight. Then, there was also a huge, sloppy repair patch on the wall; I recognize I'm no Bob Vila, but I think I could have done better. The management added a unique feature to one of the beds, which to their credit I've never before seen outside of a child's room. It was a plastic mattress protector, which made rolling around extremely noisy and conjured wild images of bed bugs and urine. I would say overall that the hotel did not disappoint. It would be a great place to host a realistic escape room game or a crime scene. read more

I was flying out of Newark Airport with my pup. I needed a place to stay for 10 hours. I choose Motel 6 as it was budget friendly and their motto is "clean, comfortable rooms". I arrived to the property around 7pm. The scene that I drove up to was surreal. Their were children running around the parking lot, adults loitering in the lobby and parking areas. The first room I was assigned had curtains falling off the window and was facing that parking lot. The second room I was given had curtains hung but..locks were broken, sheets were stained, mold in the bathroom grout and the tub was stained. There were red hair dye stains on the toilet seat and walls of the bathroom. The patches on the walls were unpainted and the door was held together with duct tape. I unpacked my own linens (I was moving to Hawaii) made up my bed, moved furniture in front of my door and hunkered down for my night. Around 9 pm I had to go to the lobby to talk to the front desk agent as he did not answer the phone. I told him about the room and he told me the room was fine. He then told me I was rude. He began speaking to a woman at the lobby desk in another language and I asked him to please speak in english. He yelled at me "he did not have to, it was none of my business". It's now 11pm I have a flight at 0700 and needed to leave at 0500. Well, 11pm is morning for the folks who live at this motel, life was happening everywhere. People running up and down the stairs, knocking on doors and yelling to each other, next to my room. Cars were beeping and engines were revving all around me. The noise drowned out the planes flying over us! I slept 1 hour and at 0445 I drug my luggage down the stairs and saw men still loitering around. I looked for their shuttle to the airport and was shown to a van. He helped me with my bags and drove me to the airport(this was the highlight of my stay). My complaints were disregarded by the Motel so I reached out to the customer care department. I was told someone would get back to me. A few days later we saw a credit of $30.00 (30%). I called customer care 3 more times, was hung up on twice and then was patched thru to the motel for a 3 way call with the "manager" and customer care. I was hung up on again. I called the motel asked for a manager, was interrogated by the person who answered the phone and was refused access to a manager until I told him I was filing a BBB complaint. At that time the assistant manager, Kyote picked up stating she had been in a meeting. I heard her advising the person speaking to me as to what to say...? She told me there was nothing wrong with the room and they would not refund my money. The money was already spent, it was not the issue, it is now the principal. She also hung up on me. I went up the ladder to corporate. I got a corporate customer care agent (JoJo) who was empathetic but told me there was nothing he could do financially (not the issue anymore!)but the property disrepair would be looked into. I am shocked at the apathy I encountered from the Motel 6 brand up to and including my contact with corporate and my discussion with Jojo. I did not expect a luxury hotel just a Clean Comfortable Room as advertised. I read previous reviews and tried to give this property a chance. Trust me, none of the reviews are exaggerated. The t.v. worked but the right side of the screen was discolored and impossible to see unless viewed straight on. The washer between the wall and shower head is defective and water is sprayed over the curtain and down the wall. We booked for a 2 day stay, and they didn't come in to clean the room and replace the towels. Service was really bad, with poor communication from the desk clerk, because they normally tell you the password for the with when you check in but we had to call the desk and ask for it. read more

My "non-smoking room" smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke that I had to double check the door to see if there indeed was a no smoking sign on the door. There was, but it's clearly not enforced and not cleaned up afterwards. Crawling into bed there's some plastic crap that made me feel like I was crawling into a bodybag. I wake up to find that I slept on sheets with dried blood only half-washed out (pictured, and not mine). This hotel is a rip off! There is no extended cable as advertised, all channels are analog with fussy reception. Worse, the proprietor uses all the parking spaces for some sort of long-term parking service, probably for travelers flying out of nearby Newark airport. Most nights I've parked on a side-street because there's no parking, even though not many people are staying at the hotel. Stay away from this motel. This motel was a good laugh. I needed a room after my flights were all canceled until the next day. I knew this would a greasy place to stay but they far exceeded my expectations. My room smelled like a heavy cloud of weed and cigarettes and even had the burn holes on the comforter to go along with it. I had to use a bar of soap to shampoo and dried off with a stained towel. Tried to lock the door before bed and half of them didn't work correctly so I slid the table in front of the door for added security. I got past all that and laid my head down for a few hours of sleep and the TV remote didn't work. I laughed out loud and got a few hours of sleep and checked out as soon as I woke up.
