Pros: The hotel itself is pretty good. My first time using digital key and I loved it. The hotel room was clean and had a good floor plan. I loved that I could slide a barn door to close in the bedroom if needed. My room was close to elevator and the clean supply room so I was a little worried about outside noise. Although I only stayed over on a Monday night even without ever closing the bedroom door it was very quiet. I had a small issue with somehow dropping my phone down into the ice machine (horror) but maintenance was very responsive and quickly got it back for me. Housekeeping was very friendly. Front desk was ok, although I feel like they could have anticipated or understood my question better when I asked about hotel shuttle. They have a sign stating where the shuttle picks up. I asked about it but they just said that it was coreect, so then I made an an attempt to find the location on the sign. When I got back to the elevator and realized it didnt go down or anywhere that might be a level cars would park or etc. I went back and asked where to find the location. They said it was where the shuttle picked up at the airport. Then is said where does it pick up here. They asked when did I need it. I said now. They said ok they would add me to a list. So #1. Why would someone checking out of the hotel need to know where the airport shuttle picks up passengers at the airport. And even if that is useful information, shouldn't it also inform where or what is needed in order to get picked up at hotel. Specifically this would seem important if the check in line was long. #2 He never answered my question about where the shuttle picks up at hotel. Once i realized the shuttle sign was useless, I assumed it picked up outside the doors and it did but this entire exchange made me feel like I was an inconvenience rather than a customer. Cons: breakfast had no flavor. I'm not expecting a lot from a free breakfast but usually the flavorless eggs have cheese or something you can add to the top to give it a little something. The vanilla pancake topped with whip cream and strawberries was ok but again very little flavor. Plus not something I could eat had I been on a hurry or had an early flight out. Other Hampton breakfasts do a little better job. Maybe Monday's are just not busy enough to warrant more. read more

Stayed at this Hampton Inn expecting the usual Hilton standard, but this was one of the worst experiences I've had in over 600 stays. I was denied extra pillows despite explaining it was due to a medical need (something I've never been denied at any Hilton property before). The room's AC unit was extremely loud, constantly turning on and off throughout the night, making it nearly impossible to sleep. When I called the front desk, I was told they were at capacity and there was no one available to address it. The most concerning issue was the airport shuttle. It was overbooked by the hotel, and I was actually asked to let another guest sit in my lap during transport. That's not just uncomfortable--it's unsafe and completely unacceptable. When I contacted the hotel manager afterward to request a refund under Hampton's satisfaction guarantee, I was dismissed, told to "get over it," and the call was ended. I've stayed at Hampton Inns for years and have always had good experiences, which made this especially disappointing. If you are flying into New Jersey/New York City area, this is the place for you. Just a mile outside of Newark airport. If you rent from the airport be sure to get the prepaid toll roads in your rental, you will be traveling about 30-45 minutes into NYC. The daily breakfast at the hotel was nice and fulling with many choices to chose from. Parking is an option to be paid nightly, or for free along the street. A pool or hot tub would be nice and relaxing but they don't have that yet. Rooms are good size for a family of 4 and look modern. read more

Stayed here for 3 nights during recent road trip to NYC and surrounding areas. Had a rental car so parked in their lot for $20 per day, with in and out privileges. Got a 2 double bed room so comfortable enough for 4 people. Far enough from airport that we didn't hear any airplanes. They have shuttle to pick you up or drop you off at airport although we didn't use it, heard it was 24 hours operational. Only 1 Elevator worked during our stay so long waits, they only have 3 floors. Free basic breakfast in the morning but will suffice to get you full to start the day. Complimentary water bottles for Hilton Honors members upon check in. Location is right off the freeway. We were able to drive into Flushing for dinner one night, then just took Uber into Manhattan and back to avoid NYC parking chaos. This Hotel was convenient for us to get around and not have to pay expensive NYC hotel prices. read more

I needed a room in between a long international flight and a cancelled domestic connection. I cannot say enough about this Hampton Inn, especially considering the good price and comparing to other stays at typical American hotel chains. The staff was so kind and informative from the hotel shuttle driver to the front desk. My toiletries were in my checked bag, so they kindly provided some supplies. Given I had an early flight, the hotel offered to book the airport shuttle for me (as it can run 24/7 but only on request for odd hours). There is an option to make a breakfast bag but I left too early for it. I see some of the negative reviews complaining about the irregularity of the shuttle, but it worked great for me as long as I communicated about the schedule. You can always Uber for a very small price to meet very specific time needs. About an hour after I got to my room, I got a text from the front desk staff ensuring I was happy with the room. I found the facilities to be renovated, clean, and large. The shuttle was also clean. You can't beat the very short distance from this hotel to Newark Airport. My room was physically close to the AirTrain but I actually couldn't hear it at all. The area is surprisingly quiet for a busy urban space. read more

I stayed here as part of travel plans to see family in PA. The hotel is conveniently located near the airport and a freeway. The price was good, better than some comparable chains nearby. The staff was nice and helpful. Their shuttle runs every 30 minutes at the top and bottom of the hour. You catch the shuttle by getting on the Air Tran and debarking at the P4 station. Go downstairs and outside. The shuttle driver ensured everyone was on the correct shuttle as there are two Hampton Inns in the area. The room was cozy, clean, and modern. The only downside is they don't have soundproof windows. That would be a huge plus, being so close to the freeway and airport. I recommend this hotel if you must be near the airport and pay a reasonable rate. Overall, an OK stay. We stayed for the night, before we dropped off our rental car at Newark airport, and headed to the cruise port in the morning. We booked with Expedia, and I called ahead of time and spoke to the front desk. I asked for a handicapped accessible room with two beds. The person was very nice, and told me no problem, it will be ready. We got to the hotel the next day, and the lady I spoke to was there. Again, she was very friendly. I checked in, and she gave me my keys, and then, at my partner's reminder, I asked her, this is an accessible room, right? She looked again, and she said no, I'm sorry, it isn't. I reminded her that she had told us that we would have an accessible room with two beds, but she said that none were available. We ended up with an accessible room with one king bed. Fortunately that worked for us. The room was clean, as was the bathroom, there was a very nice roll in shower. The bed was comfortable. we were watching TV, and three different times over a period of three hours, the picture went pixelated, and then black for like a half hour. We had to switch to our iPads to keep watching the program that we were watching. I mentioned it to the manager in the morning, and she was like... "Well, you should've called maintenance last night." I explained to her, that my partner had already gotten undressed for the night, she is handicapped, and it would have been very uncomfortable to get dressed for maintenance to come up. I asked her if she would waive our $20 parking fee as a courtesy, and she said she would do it for us. Other than the mixup on the bed and the TV, overall, it was a good night. The staff was helpful and cordial, the rooms clean and updated. Our stay was comfortable and served its purpose for an overnight stay for our cruise the next day. The Hotel offered to arrange a car service to pick us up to take us to the cruise port. The hotel has a van service that picks up regularly from Newark AirTrain station so be sure to look for this location as there is another Hampton that people mistake for the shuttle. The hotel is minutes away from the Airtrain by the shuttle and we connected and took the train into New York City for shopping which was easy. Solid hotel for our needs for a short stay. read more

Worst location for a hotel. You cannot walk anywhere because it surrounded by highways. Food deliveries were all 50min out. No restaurant or real food offered at the hotel. The airport shuttle was never on-time. I waited an hour and 45 minutes to be picked up from the airport. Between the hotel shuttle and the airport tram, it takes like 45 minutes just to get to the train that takes you into Manhattan. Don't make the same mistake I made... book a different hotel! Stayed at the Hampton inn both on the way there and back from our trip. It is a super close drive to the airport and very efficient . Highly recommend getting your ticket for parking validated if just staying overnight. Otherwise you are hit with a $25 fee for parking a car from 10pm to 4am. Horrible. The room was fine. It wasn't perfectly clean, the bed was okay. I hate hotel pillows do I can't give a good review on that. DoorDash didn't seem to deliver to the place so that sucked. Some staff at the front desk was nice, some not so much. One lady was flirting with my husband while I was there.... Super awkward but we got our parking ticket validated so who really cares. Really: no -- don't do it. Don't think, oh, that guy writing a bad review has an axe to grind, I'm sure it's really going to be OK. It is not. 1/2 hour of rambling around on the airtrain at Newark just to get to the pick up spot, which was, today, in the rain and very cold, a crowded pickup location where you are afraid the bus is not going to have enough seats for everyone. Took at least 1/2 hour for the bus to show up. So that's a cold hour I've spent, just actually getting *to* the hotel. Ahhhhh, serenity! But no! In fact it is the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, holiday travel is under way, and yet, maybe to save costs?, the good folks at Hampton Inn seem to think it is a good idea to staff their front desk with only one person. She is doing her best. But there is a line. There are ten people in front of me in line, and I am the first off the shuttle bus. It is 10 pm when I get there, after a long travel day. It is not until 11 pm that I am finally in my room. This was a bad experience. No way around it. It really was not fun. Spend a few extra bucks. Go to a nicer hotel. read more

We stayed at a 1- bedroom suite with a sofa bed in the living room. Staff was generally unhelpful, failing to call back when promised. There was one small spotlight mounted high on the wall in the living room. There were no other lights and the room became very dark. They said it was intentional to have the 1 light and they had no other lamps. They had no extra pillows available but that's just as well since the pillows were like air fluff. The bathroom was clean and the mattress on the bed was fine. Don't eat their free breakfast. I can't understand why you would bother provide food that is so bad it all goes in the trash. Just knock $5 off the price of the room. We'd all be money ahead. read more

This was the former Holiday Inn Newark Airport which has been completely gutted and fully refurbished and let me tell you a very impressive Hampton Inn! Located just to the west of Newark Airport the hotel is conveniently located. Parking is free and somewhat limited, but luckily while I was there, it never was a problem finding an available space. Being that this property is very new, it is spotlessly clean. The staff is very friendly and you can see they are all engaged and keeping busy to ensure it is well maintained. My room 803 was wonderful and it was cool to see my name on the TV screen when I entered the room welcoming me. The digital key worked great and I could even control the TV with my iPhone which was really cool! Lots of channels available on the TV and even Netflix's was an option. Everything in the room was brand-spankin' new. The bathroom was separated where the sink area was outside the closed room where the shower stall and toilet were. The bathroom was a good size and far larger than most hotel bathrooms typically are. There was also a sliding door that you could roll across from the bedroom area to the bathroom in case a guest wanted to have full privacy, which was nice. Accent lighting above the bed gave lots of options for different lighting in the room from mood to utility. The room had a small refrigerator microwave and coffee maker. Once again room servicing is by request only, but Ii was told for guests who stay 5 days or more, the room is serviced automatically every 5 days. Standard Hampton Inn complementary breakfast and coffee and hot water available in the lobby 24 hours a day. The hotel has complementary shuttle service to/ from Newark Airport. There are really no other restaurants nearby, so you'll need to Uber/ Lift it if you do not have a car of your own. Next time I am in the Newark area I would definitely consider staying at the Hampton Inn! read more

Came to stay here for a concert last weekend. Getting into the parking lot is weird because you need your key card first. But once inside, it's so new and pretty and smelled good. There's a fully stocked convenience store from salads, sandwiches, cookies, ramen, to microwaveable pizza etc! They always have hot water and coffee available in the lobby and a decent hot breakfast for free in the morning! No place to get lunch or dinner but they have a chinese and pizza place takeout they said let come to the hotel! The room was super clean and smelled nice. Huge tv, tons of movies available. Only strange thing is you need to tell them not to do room service, but they do come by several times a day. The toilet is soooo low so I didn't like that - the first time I sat down I practically fell onto it haha. They have coffee in the rooms with the cutest paper cups! Staff is nice.. I had issues with my phone, it would hang up every time front desk or operator picked up so I had to run downstairs every time to ask a question. Bc of the parking thing, sometimes Uber was a hassle, I wouldn't mind if the weather hadn't been so horrible tho! I stopped by the Newark Airport Hampton Inn after a long flight. They had two check-in agents working, which was appreciated due to the length of the check-in line. My room was modern and comfortable, with two comfortable beds and plenty of bedding and towels. The bath soap was also premium. We had their free breakfast and it was solid. read more

The location is not near anything unless you are driving. There are no sights to see but it is clean, it has breakfast, and the staff are friendly and attentive. The parking is free and they have a shuttle that comes to the airport. read more

Bad experience. Elevators nor working. One was for a short time but had to wait 20 min. When it arrived it was packed with guests and cleaning staff. I didn't get on. When I was to check out with suitcase again waited 25 min. Called the front desk twice. I was told to take stairs. Senior with luggage! I dont think so. I had a really bad bad trip into Newark. Gad been traveling all day and to top it off I had my luggage delayed and wrong hotel! She took it upon herself to help me out with my reservations with no penalty cost and I was able to stay at the airport which is what I had thought I did. I was visiting my ailing brother in Newark so needless to say I was a blubbering mess. We stayed one night in order to be close to Newark airport for our early morning flight. The staff was absolutely lovely. Our room was clean and comfortable. There's free (very good) coffee in the lobby 24/7. They also have a well stocked snack bar at reception. We were given a menu for a local Italian restaurant that delivers. Our meals were excellent. We didn't have time to take advantage of their free breakfast but it looked great! In the future, if we have an early flight from Newark, we'll most definitely stay at the Hampton Inn. read more

Stayed here last night. The front desk asked when I would need a shuttle in the morning and I said 4:30 am. I arrived in the lobby at 4:30 am to be told the shuttle left and could not return until 5:00am. I now am paying for an uber for a service the hotel promised they had. This property has reopened contrary to the Yelp search. I stayed there 5/28 to 5/30, it was a stop on my way from Athens Greece to Los Angeles then back home to Seattle. I was in desperate need of laundry facilities and booked this hotel specifically because they had them, I even called ahead to ensure it was open and available. I got in late on the 28th, got my quarters for the laundry at the front desk, loaded my laundry into the 2 wash machines they had, only to then find out they were both broken. I spoke to the maintenance man who said oh yeah they have been broke since earlier today when another customer tried to use them. The next morning first thing I called the front desk to see if the shuttle could transport me to the nearest laundromat. The lady said she would have the manager contact me. Pamela the manager told me that the shuttle could only transport to the airport because of liability. I let her know my problem and that the sole reason for me booking this hotel was because of the laundry facilities. She apologized and wanted to make it right. Pamela had me upload the app because she wanted to give points on the Hilton app for my inconvenience. I still have yet to see any credits or points or compensation to make it right. I appreciate someone trying to make good on a bad situation but I don't appreciate lack of follow through or smoke blown. The property is really nice and all brand new. The laundry room that I needed desperately was broken and the the management lacked follow through in making good on her promise. read more

Just about the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. I was initially given a room where the tv wouldn't power on. I called the front desk and was told somebody would be "right up". They never came. About 25 minutes later the heater kicked on, spit out smoke, and triggered the fire alarm. At that point I went down and demanded a new room, and though the TV powered on, there were all sorts of problems with this tv as well. Couldn't change the channels without turning the TV off and starting from scratch. TV also cut out on me for about 10 minutes. I eventually gave up and watched xfinity streaming app on my phone. Oh, it also costs $20 to park at this hotel. The good news (I guess) is that the parking lot is fenced in like a fortress. read more

Lovely hotel. Room was clean and quiet and comfy. They have a great free shuttle to and from the airport that runs quite often. Staff was very friendly and helpful with any inquiries. They even still have morning coffee and breakfast downstairs, which I'm finding is disappearing most places since covid. My flight got in late but the Hampton airport shuttle was easy to find and extremely convenient. The front desk staff were friendly and my hotel room TV screen greeted me by name. I'm always skeptical about hotels near the airport but this one felt very safe including a door lock and metal security door stopper. There was also a sliding door that you could pull over as an additional barrier between the door and the bed area! Continental breakfast was good. I really appreciated the well-thought-out amenities and little convenient touches here. Spotless, modern room. Nice glass-doored walk-in shower with ample pump shampoo/conditioner/body wash (and foot rest bar for shaving which I really appreciate!), nice towels, comfy bed, giant TV with Netflix (personalized onscreen welcome was a nice touch), coat hooks (I mean, so simple but most rooms don't have them), Keurig coffeemaker. EWR is super close and the shuttle runs 24 hours (every 30 minutes).
