I needed a room in between a long international flight and a cancelled domestic connection. I cannot say enough about this Hampton Inn, especially considering the good price and comparing to other stays at typical American hotel chains. The staff was so kind and informative from the hotel shuttle driver to the front desk. My toiletries were in my checked bag, so they kindly provided some supplies. Given I had an early flight, the hotel offered to book the airport shuttle for me (as it can run 24/7 but only on request for odd hours). There is an option to make a breakfast bag but I left too early for it. I see some of the negative reviews complaining about the irregularity of the shuttle, but it worked great for me as long as I communicated about the schedule. You can always Uber for a very small price to meet very specific time needs. About an hour after I got to my room, I got a text from the front desk staff ensuring I was happy with the room. I found the facilities to be renovated, clean, and large. The shuttle was also clean. You can't beat the very short distance from this hotel to Newark Airport. My room was physically close to the AirTrain but I actually couldn't hear it at all. The area is surprisingly quiet for a busy urban space.

I stayed here as part of travel plans to see family in PA. The hotel is conveniently located near the airport and a freeway. The price was good, better than some comparable chains nearby. The staff was nice and helpful. Their shuttle runs every 30 minutes at the top and bottom of the hour. You catch the shuttle by getting on the Air Tran and debarking at the P4 station. Go downstairs and outside. The shuttle driver ensured everyone was on the correct shuttle as there are two Hampton Inns in the area. The room was cozy, clean, and modern. The only downside is they don't have soundproof windows. That would be a huge plus, being so close to the freeway and airport. I recommend this hotel if you must be near the airport and pay a reasonable rate. PROS * Good rates * Close to the airport and freeways * Decent parking * Nice lobby decor * Kind and informative staff * 24-hour Shuttle * Small pantry * Keyhole cover on the backside of room door so no one can look in through the hallway * Numerous apparel/coat hooks * Barn-style door separates the bathroom area from the sleeping area * 55 inch TV * Refrigerator * Spacious bathroom * Modern decor * Water station near the elevators CONS * No soundproof windows. It can be a noisy location. * Commode flushes loudly * Shower floor can be slippery * No places to eat nearby * AC/Heat unit filter can be dirty and need replacing * Closet area is visible to anyone in the room * Toilet flush is powerful * Breakfast (cheesy eggs, sausage, potatoes, etc.) was cold

Stayed at the Hampton inn both on the way there and back from our trip. It is a super close drive to the airport and very efficient . Highly recommend getting your ticket for parking validated if just staying overnight. Otherwise you are hit with a $25 fee for parking a car from 10pm to 4am. Horrible. The room was fine. It wasn't perfectly clean, the bed was okay. I hate hotel pillows do I can't give a good review on that. DoorDash didn't seem to deliver to the place so that sucked. Some staff at the front desk was nice, some not so much. One lady was flirting with my husband while I was there.... Super awkward but we got our parking ticket validated so who really cares. Other all 4/5. One star less for the issues with cleanliness in the room.

This was after 20 minutes of waiting. The line is longer than it looks! UGH

Really: no -- don't do it. Don't think, oh, that guy writing a bad review has an axe to grind, I'm sure it's really going to be OK. It is not. 1/2 hour of rambling around on the airtrain at Newark just to get to the pick up spot, which was, today, in the rain and very cold, a crowded pickup location where you are afraid the bus is not going to have enough seats for everyone. Took at least 1/2 hour for the bus to show up. So that's a cold hour I've spent, just actually getting *to* the hotel. Ahhhhh, serenity! But no! In fact it is the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, holiday travel is under way, and yet, maybe to save costs?, the good folks at Hampton Inn seem to think it is a good idea to staff their front desk with only one person. She is doing her best. But there is a line. There are ten people in front of me in line, and I am the first off the shuttle bus. It is 10 pm when I get there, after a long travel day. It is not until 11 pm that I am finally in my room. This was a bad experience. No way around it. It really was not fun. Spend a few extra bucks. Go to a nicer hotel.

This was the former Holiday Inn Newark Airport which has been completely gutted and fully refurbished and let me tell you a very impressive Hampton Inn! Located just to the west of Newark Airport the hotel is conveniently located. Parking is free and somewhat limited, but luckily while I was there, it never was a problem finding an available space. Being that this property is very new, it is spotlessly clean. The staff is very friendly and you can see they are all engaged and keeping busy to ensure it is well maintained. My room 803 was wonderful and it was cool to see my name on the TV screen when I entered the room welcoming me. The digital key worked great and I could even control the TV with my iPhone which was really cool! Lots of channels available on the TV and even Netflix's was an option. Everything in the room was brand-spankin' new. The bathroom was separated where the sink area was outside the closed room where the shower stall and toilet were. The bathroom was a good size and far larger than most hotel bathrooms typically are. There was also a sliding door that you could roll across from the bedroom area to the bathroom in case a guest wanted to have full privacy, which was nice. Accent lighting above the bed gave lots of options for different lighting in the room from mood to utility. The room had a small refrigerator microwave and coffee maker. Once again room servicing is by request only, but Ii was told for guests who stay 5 days or more, the room is serviced automatically every 5 days. Standard Hampton Inn complementary breakfast and coffee and hot water available in the lobby 24 hours a day. The hotel has complementary shuttle service to/ from Newark Airport. There are really no other restaurants nearby, so you'll need to Uber/ Lift it if you do not have a car of your own. Next time I am in the Newark area I would definitely consider staying at the Hampton Inn!

The location is not near anything unless you are driving. There are no sights to see but it is clean, it has breakfast, and the staff are friendly and attentive. The parking is free and they have a shuttle that comes to the airport.

I was mislead by the reviews as well as the price for parking onsite each day. From checkin to checkout, customer service was blunt, nonchalant, and unwelcoming. Our reward status was not recognized, addresses, or mentioned. Also, when I complained about the cold temperature in both rooms that I booked, my complaints were downplayed, and condescended. My complaints were not addressed and my bill was not comped in any way, despite reporting that the room was cold each day. We were out of the room majority of each day, so we made the best of our trip during the short stay. Again, I do not recommend this hotel. This hotel is a negative reflection of Marriott Bonvoy, and does not value customer service.

One thing to start is if you're staying there pull i to their parking lot and see if you can find a spot before paying. The lot is very small and on one occasion we were stuck trying to get our for over an hour by a car that made its own spot and blocked us in. On our most recent visit only one of the two main elevators were working and had a very long wait. We ended up going to the elevator bay in and attached building which required taking our bags up or down a flight of stairs. The standard room is very standard. Chair, bed, dresser and a tight bathroom. Since our last visit the had put in motion lights in the bathroom. However it was facing the door way and on a two minute timer. Meaning while taking a shower and getting ready for bed the light turned off multiple times and we had to leave the door open to see anything. On both stays our room smelled of cigarette smoke. We ended up turning ofd the heat and opening the window to air it out before heading to dinner. Upon our return the smell was still lingering and I ended up using spray hand sanitizer on the fabric wallpaper to neutralize the sent a bit more. We noted that bedding didn't feel like it had a blanket really at all. Our room was near the elevator bay and we heard the ding every time the elevator stopped on our floor through the night. One high note was that the towels were very soft. It'll do if you need to be downtown but I would recommend checking other places for availability first.

There is signage posted for a shuttle at the terminal, but it said you had to call a number. When a Marriott shuttle showed up, they told us they would not take us to the Courtyard so we had to take a taxi ~ $45. We were here for almost 4 hours. Just long enough to put our feet up for a bit, shower, and change. Lighting in the bathroom and vanity area is brutal. The bed faced the sliding glass door, but we were never there when there was sunlight. The heater made lots of noise when it kicked on. They do provide an airport shuttle every half hour, that was the best part of our stay.

There is another Courtyard Marriott with a very similar name that's also an airport hotel, so you don't want your rideshare to take you to the wrong hotel (that happened with the group I was with) and you don't want your rideshare to head to the wrong place to get you. I had originally booked this hotel because it's right by the Newark Airport and has an airport shuttle. I ended up flying out of JFK instead, which is almost 2 hours further and cost $85 via Uber. I ended up keeping this hotel since it was close to Prudential Center and it worked out well as I stayed in the hotel room to wait out the rain before heading to Prudential Center and had the room to take a hot shower and sort of nap before heading out early for my flight. They're awkwardly located in the middle of a circular road, so you can't walk around the area. It's car only really. It was a bummer that this hotel isn't near a bus stop either, so I had to take the airport shuttle to the airport to take the bus from there. The entire hotel is one story. It seems like each room has a patio too. My patio door led straight to the parking lot and had no fenced area, so not gonna lie, it felt a little unsafe having direct access to my room from the parking lot and I had to triple check that the patio door was locked, lest anyone tried to open the patio door. The room is cozy (and yes, a bit dated) with a king bed and round sofa-ish thing. The TV is set up for streaming so I appreciated having the option to just play YouTube videos for background noise and to pass the time until I had to leave for my concert nearby. The hotel also had a decent 24/7 fitness center and plenty of space in the lobby for people to sit and hang out.

The lobby is beautiful--clean, modern, and exactly what you see in the photos. That's actually what led me to book the hotel. However, the rooms are a completely different story. When we checked in, I specifically asked if there were more updated rooms, since I assumed the hotel might have renovated sections. The front desk staff member was very kind and helpful, but the first room we were given was in really poor condition--chipped paint everywhere, a bad smell in the bathroom, and visible mold in the vent. It felt neglected and far from clean. We asked to switch rooms and were told the only options were the 10th floor or the 1st floor. Since the 10th floor looked just as worn down, we chose the 1st floor. The staff member did warn us it might be noisy due to the pool and said the pool closed at 8 PM, which seemed reasonable. Unfortunately, the noise was not from the pool. There was constant yelling, screaming, and doors slamming throughout the night. It felt chaotic and made it very difficult to relax or sleep. The second room was still in rough shape--more chipped paint, run-down finishes, and the towels were dry and rough. At times, the room even smelled like cigarette smoke, likely coming from a nearby room, which was really unpleasant. I do want to note that every staff member we interacted with was extremely kind and professional. This is clearly not a reflection of them--they were doing their best. The issue is the condition of the property itself. Overall, this hotel feels more like a rundown motel with a very nice lobby. I would not recommend staying here unless you are okay with outdated, poorly maintained rooms.
