This was the worst Hilton and definitely the worst Tapestry collection hotel I have ever stayed in! It was a total catfish! The pictures are all a lie! The only good thing about the hotel is the staff; they were all kind. The hotel itself should be ashamed to call itself a Tapestry Collection Hilton. First the room smelled old and stale. I have photos of the cracks in the walls. The chipped paint. The dirt along the baseboards. The shower floors totally chipped. The pipes knocking loudly every single morning. It was awful. My fiance chose Watt Hotel. The location was perfect as the train station was across the street. After we got settled we decided to take the train into New York City. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with our fridge maintenance guy came and replaced it. He's also a mixologist. Our room was very clean and spacious. The ambiance was very eclectic all the furniture was comfy. The Lounge at The Watt had great drinks and bar food was pretty good. We ordered the Bourbon chicken wings and steak and cheese egg roll weren't my favorite but the wings were good. If you go try the French 75. We both slept like babies our bed was very comfortable. I look forward to returning to the Watt. To all my Yelpers let's continue to eat our way through the world #foodie4life. read more

Good value, cute rooms, comfortable beds. The staff were friendly and accommodating when we requested a mini fridge and microwave for our room. Steps away from the train station which was very convenient. I would say the breakfast buffet is not worth the $15. The food was average and some of our dishes and cutlery were dirty. read more

The staff here is top notch. Very friendly and patient folks at the front desk. Nice bartenders. And the folks running meals are great. Front desk was especially helpful when we checked in with only one guest noted by accident and they adjusted to add daily food credit for two guests. Really great. Two things that can be improved. 1. In some rooms, you can hear the water flowing down metal pipes in the walls by the bed. So, every time someone flushes or runs the faucet, you hear it. 2. The room doors slam shut, which wakes people up. Other than that, it was a great spot right next to the train station. I recommend! read more

Disastrous & disappointing. I travel for work, especially pre-COVID. Out of dozens of hotel experiences, The Watt was one of the worst stays. I don't recommend this hotel if you're spending more than $120 at all. I have points & deals on Hotel Tonight so it was affordable. I had to stay two nights due to my partner having covid and I wanted to not get infected by sharing space during evenings while doing care support. The check-in was horrendous with rude and inattentive front desk staff who really wouldn't care if you stayed there at all. No greeting, no instructions on the hotel or if I've stayed there before. He couldn't be bothered and was on his cellphone as I waited for him to do his job. Also, In fact, when I extended my stay they didn't update my keys, their phone is constantly busy, so I went down and they didn't even try to ask me what the issue was, identify the wrong doing or apologize. The lounge and lobby fit the Hilton Tapestry line, with gorgeous interiors and beautiful bar. That's where the quality ends. The roof deck does not reflect the photos but still a radiant view of nyc and rahway. The hallways smell musty and the rug/carpets are snagged. The rooms are not updated, have damages in the bathroom, stains, and scratches on furniture plus no curtains so get ready to get the traffic light in your dreams. The room is highly scented like old Avon cologne which is to say, not comforting but dizzying. There was no refrigerator out microwave in the room. The cleaning staff do a great job and the quality is not on them, the general maintenance of the rooms are dated circa 2008 and not brought up to par. I would book in jersey city or break for $200+ price and at least get a pool and great customer service with curtains and a cost proximity to nyc. Really what could easily be a 4 star stay is a 2 star stay. The breakfast lounge was their saving shining grace!! Yaz the server and the kitchen staff were wonderful, attentive, excellent, and deserve the stars. Breakfast options are limited, no cheese omelet or poached eggs just sunny and scrambled. The hotel worker cleaning rooms was amazing and kind. Everything else was either underwhelming or terrible. ** UPDATE: CHANGED to 1 star review. Additionally, I was incorrectly charged double when I already paid in hotel tonight app. I called the hotel directly who wasted my time for 40 minutes. The inept front desk woman gave me a faulty case confirmation number and didn't email me a receipt or confirmation of case number. Impeccably fraudulent and irresponsible. But if you want a nice, clean place to lay your head...keep looking! Upon entering the room it looked decent enough. It was somewhat updated, albeit it only had one portrait on the walls. But upon closer inspection I was a bit disgusted. The sink had 3 long hairs in it, the comforter had a huge stain, the sheets were also stained, and yes even the towels were stained. I slept in my clothes on top of the sheets and just left without bathing because I was so shook by the lack of cleanliness. Very disappointed in this Hilton brand. read more

Well, where do I start? We had our wedding there this past weekend and from Lauren our wedding liaison to the maître de Christian to the bridal attendant Anne. The chef's the bartenders the weight staff everybody on point the food amazing the rooms were wonderful, clean well kept the grounds were beautiful this place really knows how to do things. Cute modern hotel located in Rahway, NJ so it's a quick ride from midtown if you catch the NJ Transit train. Once you get there, there are tons of cute restaurants around the hotel. The hotel does offer events like Jazz Nights if you want to check that out. They also have a bar and a rooftop that has a view of New Jersey and New York. The room was a really large size but I wish the bed were a bit more comfortable. read more

This is an amazing diamond in the right hotel. The decor is beautiful, the staff was really nice and attentive. Front desk person Carlos, he said he was new, but he was good with explaining where to park and what was needed for the voucher. He explained breakfast, the lounge and performers. Well done. The hotel rooms were nice and if I had any criticism it's that the bathrooms need a little tlc and good Ole arm grease cleaning. The shower pan wasn't as clean as I'd like but you could tell it was clean. The lounge and bar, really nice atmosphere. Some ordered food, we only had drinks, but the food looked delicious. The drinks, French Martini, expresso martini, and whisky sour were made very well by Bruno who was very nice. We did have breakfast, which is included for Gold and Platinum members. I think this needs to be commicated better as we watched many breakfast seekers walk away after finding out. The food was delivered quickly and made well. We had the Watt-which ($9), Tesla breakfast ($13), and French toast($8). Breakfast is good and something all should partake. Price is good even for those not gold or platinum member. The hotel stole my money even though I had paid in FULL for 3 days via Expedia. My connecting flight into Newark was cancelled at the very last minute after midnight. Earlier I had called the hotel to let them know I would be late. After my flight was cancelled, I waited a long time in line to get flight rebooked and a hotel for the night. It had already been a very long day, including the 6 hour flight into IAD from SEA. The last thing on my mind was letting Watt Hotel know about my flight cancellation. I call them first thing next morning and they told me the reservation had been cancelled because I was a no show. I explained that my flight had been cancelled. They didn't care. I explained I had pulled in FULL. Didn't care. I explained that it was late at night I was exhausted and was waiting in line for united to rebook my hotel, and was unable to notify Watt hotel. Didn't care. No refund, no credits, nothings. I called Expedia and Expedia said there was nothing they could do. As the last straw, I asked the GM to call me, left my number, no follow up phone call. Just awful customer service all around. I had gotten a cancelled flight and it was incredibly stressful to book new flight and hotel, including long wait at line, but this Watt hotel was blaming me for not telling them, even though again, I HAD PAID IN FULL. So they may have stolen a few hundred dollars from me, but I am planning to visit Rahway multiple times, so they will have lost thousands in revenue due to their awful customer service. read more

I do not recommend to stay at this hotel. This property is a scam. The rooms are barely at motel 8 standards. The first room we checked into had a backed up shower that had brown drain water backing into the shower floor, yellow stains on the sheets l, and oily smudges on the furniture. The chair was stained. No coffee pot, microwave, or mini fridge. This hotel is structured similar to how the famous Cicil hotel in LA was structure. Only two of the floors , the 3rd and 4th, are for hotel guest while the others are residential apartments. The front lobby is dressed up like a 4 star hotel while the rooms are horrible. The residents and the hotel guests share an elevator. On check in you have to pay a deposit, mine came to 300, and cannot get a refund for your stay. read more

Second time staying in this hotel. I arrived very early morning and the manager was so kind enough to allow me to check in 6 hours before official check in time. The value for what you are paying daily is worth it. Minus one star because of how far it is from nyc. Also when I arrived this time there was no toiletries at all and I had to go and ask for some at the desk. The manager addressed this quickly and had toiletries and extra towels/ TP sent to my room. The service overall was great. I was there last night for a Meetup event for jazz night. Their wine was good. I ordered the mac and cheese. It tasted good. However, the appearance of it looked like a brownie in marinara sauce. Maybe it was left a little long in the oven, but overall a good place to go to. read more

If I could give negative stars I think that I would. This place was absolutely disgusting. If I had the ability to give less than 1 star I would. What is the rating that says, "if you stay here you will get PHYSICALLY ILL?" Where is the rating post-pandemic that says this place in UNSANITARY!!!! I have attached photos, but honestly.. nothing could truly do it the justice that it deserves. I went here because it was close to where I needed to go, but there is nothing that could have prepared me for large dirty handprints on the wall, rude staff, a toilet that was used when I got into the room, a shower that was still wet when it wasn't leaking, paint peeling off the walls, cracks in the foundations, dirt and grime on the floor, pink mold and algae building upon the shower curtains. Absolutely FOUL, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE STAY HERE. For this to be a Hilton affiliate is disrespectful to the Hilton name. I was disappointed in my stay at the Watt Hotel. Some of the staff were courteous but some were not. The breakfast was ok, but not good. And when leaving, I presented my parking garage ticket (I was told on arrival that I would get a 50% discount from staying at hotel) now the employee said that they do not do that anymore. I recently stayed here for a few days on a work trip. I'm a bit mixed on this spot, but it's not due to service as much as room design. The first 4 floors are a hotel and above that are apartments. The walls are a bit thin so if the people in a room near you (including above) are up earlier/later than you, then you will know. The room itself was pretty big with a bench, a task chair, and a somewhat comfortable chair (though a bit small). As others have stated, the shower design is horrible. There was a constant puddle that wouldn't drain and there is a glass wall near the spigot. Depending on the length of your arm, you may not be able to turn the shower on without getting doused with cold water - I couldn't imagine staying here in winter. The hallways are a bit smelly, but once you get in the room that disappears. No luggage stand. The ice machine is on floor 3 so if you are on another floor you will have to make a trek with a rather small bucket. Mine was double walled, but my co-worker's was a single thin wall so her ice melted faster. No breakfast service currently, but the bar was open and good service. In fact, the service we received was great and everyone was very friendly and helpful. I think they are a bit understaffed after covid, but hopefully that will pick up so more services are available. There is a station across the street that I believe can be used to get to Newark and their tram. I may use this and Uber next time rather than rent a car if it's safe to do so. read more

This place was disssssgusssssting. My family and I were in town for a memorial service and it was recommended that we stay here. Most of the reviews were positive and the price was fantastic, so we booked two rooms. We are allergic to feathers so I called a few days earlier to request foam and was told it was not a problem. We arrived around 7pm, and when I entered the room the first thing I noticed after breaking the "this room has been cleaned and disinfected" seal was the thick layer of dust on the TV and the dresser. I then noticed the pillows were feather pillows and that there were several hairs on the pillow cases. I tried to call down to the front desk and got a busy signal several times. Because that wasn't working, I went downstairs to find no one at the desk and a sign that said "we are assisting a customer and will be back soon." I waited 15 minutes for the guy to come back, I explained the situation, and he said "I'll take care of that later." "Later?" I asked. "I'm the only one here," he said. At that point I went back upstairs because we had to leave for a family function. My sister informed me that her room was filthy as well and I then discovered that there was hair all over the bathroom floor. We went to the family function and heard horror stories from other family members who had checked in there. This included my cousin who discovered, as she was getting out of the shower, that the "bath" towel hangin next to the shower, was actually a hand towel. When she went downstairs to notify the desk clerk (because she got a busy signal when she called down also), he told her "I'd be happy to cancel your reservation." What?? No "I'm sorry and I'll take care of that for you," but "I'll cancel your reservation." We found a new hotel as quickly as we could and ended up paying almost twice the price. But at least we weren't sleeping in filth. Do not stay here anytime soon. read more

I was at this hotel at the bar on Nov. 12th. This was my second time at their bar as it is right across the train station in Rahway. There was an issue with one certain individual there on my 1st visit and he yelled at me, I laughed it off and thought nothing of it. On Friday the 12th... I made my way and had a few beers. There was going to be a musical group performing there. Another man and woman were sitting on the end of the bar and after a while I interacted with her and there were faces made and by the way she came over and sat next to me. The man that was with her started getting frustrated with me and after a few words from me, he got up in an angry matter and told me to go outside. The female that was with him, cautioned me not to exit in a frightened matter. What ensued was an argument outside and he walked to side of building and told me to come over there. His so called friend started pushing me and as I pushed him back he hit me in the head. Also, something fell out of my hoodie and he grabbed it and took it. Rahway police showed up immediately and surrounded me in their cowardly way. I told them that this buffoon of a human being started it and he denied it. I was loud but at the same time kept my composure. I was and am being terrorized by the rahway police department. I walked away and started ridiculing them and making fun of them... I heard ' you want him' from one of these cop thugs and they ran and held me against their suv vehicle. Soon enough I started slamming my head against their vehicle and was cuffed and thrown in their back seat. Their main officer started antagonizing me to the point that I started to bash my own head against their plastic enclosure til I started bleeding. They seemed frightened as cowards always are and as they opened their door they were saying ' what do you want to do'. So I moved back away and one of them grabbed me from behind by the cuffs and dragged me. An ambulance was there and the pain of the cuffs and being pulled by them because I was back handcuffed was excruciating. They threw me on the stretcher and I was laying on my hands cuffed til the point I couldn't feel my hand. I suffered nerve damage in my right hand up over my wrist. I have medical records to prove it as I got the help I needed in a certain NY Hospital as another refused. The ambulance ride was a psychological nightmare as the cops were playing a mental anguish game with me. They took me yo Trinitas hospital in elizabeth, nj and what I witnessed was absolutely disgusting. I will handle that filth gutter institution another time. This all started at this watt's hotel in rahway,nj. I was a resident of rahway for over 20 years and there is a lot of foul and ignorant play but I never expected this much. I went back after that and another man said the place was his and locked the hotel door and didn't wanna let me in. I wanted my apple charger, colorful vibrant hoodie, america hat, and a wooden hammer looking thing that the punk that hit me took from me. I was at their front door for some time and raised my voice at the ignorant fool that was obviously scared. It seemed like he was pretending to make a phone call and said his 'man' was gonna be there soon and 'clean' me up. It was a threat but I waited and expected more police to show up. Instead, a few minutes later, he got up and walked out and started yelling in my face somewhat the same things that I told him. I knew it was an act and left. Not sure if I was being recorded because that's what cowards do. I want my belongings back... the 'kid'... cause he is a kid, that is a bartender there was fake to me the whole time as everyone else was as well. Before the police showed up after that minor scuffle, he told me he's not letting me in even when I said, I just want my stuff. These people are absolutely childish. You individuals at this hotel showed me how empty, vile, and disgusting this world can be. read more

The rooms were clean and modern, the bed was really comfortable. Location is great; it's right in the middle of downtown Rahway with lots of stuff to do day and night. I am not a fan. The Pergo floors are cold --bring slippers. The nest heating/cooling controls take forever. Our room was set at 60 when we arrived. An hour later the room was 67 degrees. Our bed was extremely uncomfortable. Shower water controls were either too hot or too cold. They had a jazz band playing until 11pm. It was generous that we could hear it as we were drifting off to sleep. As diamond members we were surprised that their cheapest menu item was only included. That is ok I upgraded to thhe eggs. A mistake, after two attempts to make over easy eggs I decided that the one slice of toast bacon and potatoes was enough. The last straw was when the doggy daycare opened at 9 am and all the dogs barking--note to self do not stay on the second floor. The fact that the parking is an extra fee when every other Hilton waves it is also disappointing. We won't be staying here again. read more

I'm visiting from out of state and called the hotel before my arrival and Walter answered the phone I asked him what time the lunge closed and he said midnight and before I can ask him anything else he just hung up the phone. So I tried calling back and it took 3 try's to get him back on the phone to ask what time the lounge stopped serving food. Customer service was not a great experience. read more

Biggest con is that this place is right across the street from the train station so you'll have to figure out your parking situation. A piece of glass silliconed by the shower head, get ready to splash half of your body with ice cold or hot water. DUMB. Shower temperature not consistent, bad. Turned temperature to middle, 60% hot water. Turned to cooler, 60% hot water. Turnned to cold almost shutting the water off, 60% hot water. Man I don't want to splash my face with hot water. TERRIBLE. Fridge, NONE. Microwave, NONE. Hotel looks good? YES, very good. Practical? NO. Will I come back willingly? NO! read more

The room was not clean, the bed was hard and uncomfortable. The bathroom had a weird setup with the shower. You have to go in and turn on the water getting doused in cold water while you wait for it to he up. All in all not our most comfortable stay at a Hilton. After seeing the reviews I was wondering if I stayed at the same hotel. Stayed at the Watt from 12/23 to 12/29 with my wife. Just relocated to Florida from NJ and kids/grandkids live in Westfield-not many options with the exception of low end motels. Front desk was exceptional from check-in to checkout-special thanks to Ed. Housekeeping was friendly, accommodating, and provided great service. Mostly went to local restaurants/bars - Irving Inn and The Waiting Room - but did have a couple of drinks at the hotel bar and was able to enjoy the Jazz ensemble performing Saturday night before our return. The Watt works for me: - Clean rooms, comfortable beds. - $25.00 Uber from the airport -although you can take NJT straight there. - Great restaurants and bars within 3 walking blocks - Convenient travel to NYC when returning north for business. Not all the amenities of upper-scale Hilton's but have grown a liking to their Tapestry Collection. If in Savannah -check into the Cotton Sail. For those visiting from out-of-town, the Rahway downtown area is going through an early gentrification stage so unless you're from the area you can't really appreciate it. read more
