Mother Ruckers Bar at Fort Rucker Alabama definitely has a heck of a name! I love it! It is definitely legendary because you know that if you been to Fort Rucker you have thought.. Man thats a heck of a good name for a bar specially in a military base! At this point is a Historical point in FT Rucker, because if you have been to FT Rucker .. How can you forget? #MotherRuckersForever Now, besides its name... the bar is what it is... a bar next to the IHG hotel, in-front of the AIT Barracks in FT Rucker AL. The drinks are okay, the food is better, the service needs improvement (yes! we need more than 1 fudging bar tender) their pulled pork is surprisingly good, inside is cute in a divey way, and it would be even better to have an ATM there in case you need cash to play pool because the bar tender won't hand you cash charged to your car and the IHG hotel doesn't have an ATM either. It wouldn't be nearly as bad if this place didn't try to market itself as a sports bar. As I look around there's about a dozen or so TVs. Half are on the same game that nobody is watching, two are showing wheel of fortune and the rest are off. This place is only open because of convenience for the people stuck on Ft. Rucker. Horrible food had a salad that hadn't been washed and the chicken reminded me of a rubber shoe insert. Went there last weekend to sing karaoke and the waitresses were rude ! They wouldn't let us turn the music up when we were the only people in the bar. Plus I'm pretty sure we bought enough drinks to pay for their light bill. Went last weekend and they were very resistant in letting us sing karaoke. there were a few more people there but not many more. One waitress actually told my friend he hated him and the bartenders were all rude. Although I use the term waitress and bartender loosely. Really really bad service! Put in your order early... they are either under staffed or their servers just plain suck!! They totally forget about you all the time! Food is ok... nothing to write home about. The only positive is that the establishment is next to the on post hotel and you can walk over without having to drive. The Landing Zone has much better food and waitstaff however they are not open on the weekends. read more

Full bar, long beer list, good food! I got the nachos and never ran out of toppings. Clean facility with a mostly-very friendly staff. I say mostly friendly because another night we went here and only two of the waitresses/bartenders were worth anything. I was sitting outside and asked a waitress walking by for a beer, she said I had to go inside to the bar to order... so inside I go and stand at the bar while two others walk by me and finally the blonde with glasses comes over and asks if I've been helped. This place is convenient for the base. It's a bar close by the AIT student barracks and the hotel. You can easily walk there. Cheap beers, okay food, and okay service. Everything here is cheap-fairly priced. Remember, there's only a few servers and this is technically the only bar on base. read more

Servers are friendly and the food and drinks are good. But I witnessed the manager or boss (I'm not sure) guy with the beard and all the tattoos being rude to the bartender. Talk about a DIVE. With a name like mother Rucker's I guess my expectations were high. My friends and I were the only women in there, being gawked at. Wow. I just can't think of any better word. We went Saturday night. 5 adults and 5 kids. My husband and his friend waited in line just to order for 30 minutes. There was two people in front of him and it took a while. We waited patiently once it hit 1 1/2 with no food. The kids were upset and not even our two appetizers (spinach dip) was out. My husband went in twice to see if it was ready, he said he could tell the cooks were aggressive, dropping the food down on the counter, tossing it up on the counter to be served. We didn't complain or make a big deal but really..our appetizers of chips and dip? Finally, half our food came but they said they JUST put the pizza in. After an hour and a half! The kids were all sharing the pizza so...meltdown. Nice lady came out and apologized gave the rest of the food. Food was well..just food. Pizza was paper thin (honestly), hard (because soo thin), the tiniest bit of sauce. My husband and dad liked their wings/burger (western) they were out of turkey or whatever for sandwiches. Called to put in a pick up order RIGHT WHEN THEY OPENED. The staff member asked me to hold, and put the phone down (i could hear the whole restaurant background noise). By minute 11, I decided to drive over there since it was a less than 10 minute drive all while I was on the phone with them. Upon arrival I peeked over the bar and saw the phone STILL laying flat down where I left it. I walked up to the register and ordered my food, then informed the staff member assisting me (Kayla) that I have been on hold for 20 minutes, and the phone laying flat across the bar unattended was me. She didn't even give me an apology. She smiled, bent her head down, and then started saying that she walked in late and forgot about the phone call, then avoided me the whole time I sat in the restaurant waiting for my food (which could have been started on already and done by this time). Awful customer service. On top of that, when I got home I paid for double meat for both burgers, and did not get what I paid for. I would rather not call back and complain more because they already have surpassed annoying me because it was the most tedious experience since moving to this Podunk town. read more

Whether you live on post or just here for training youll want to visit Mother Ruckers. You really dont have to worry too much about younger AIT soldiers. Its a good mix of senior enlisted/officers and junior enlisted. The atmosphere is great. The food is REALLY good and happy hour has good drink prices. Ive never had to wait on food or refills. Courtney is the best bartender ever! Cheeze curds and shrimp tacos are legit! Nachos are delivered with a snow shovel.

It's hit or miss I have eaten here every time I come down here this last week I've eaten the garlic fries and hot barbecue boneless wings three times and the wings taste different every time. Some nights they have a lot of sauce on them and seem fresh other nights seem like they been sitting out for a few hours. Hi points beer selection is always great. The pizzas are good and the girls are working are usually very nice and are quick to take or order . Horrible experience tonight. Sat out back (as part of a large group) where 2 of the 3 televisions had soccer and the other TV had college football. Several of us wanted to watch the Yankees - Red Sox playoff game but were told by our waitress that only the bartender has permission to use the remote and that the bartender was super busy. I.had asked for a beer and a water, waited 20 minutes, and only got the beer (a very mediocre local brew that I was charged $6 for). Still wanting to see the baseball game, so I went in and asked the bartender and she told me how busy she was making drinks and providing food. Finally, I left. I wanted to order food but will instead just go to bed hungry tonight. I will never set foot in Mother Ruckers again. Horrible excuse for an on post sports bar. read more

Apparently the sheer number of soldiers with few other options and an overwhelming male majority have infused their staff with a sense of pompous entitlement. They are the opposite of pleasant and all ten items or so on menu are fried crap. The bar tender, when asked if we should wait to be seated or seat ourselves replied while walking away from us and when asked if a waitress would know we had sat down replied sarcastically (both verbal and non verbal) "uh yeah". We weren't hitting on her but apparently she felt as if we owed her something after asking so many questions and inconveniencing her during her...job? Boo to the staff and won't go back even if it is a stone's throw from the hotel. read more

Well thought I would keep trying and it just gets worse. The waitress was so rude and unprofessional. The other night I ordered a gin and tonic. Sadly it was flat because they used tonic that had been opened several days prior. So tonight I go to order the same stung and she responds with would you like to try the tonic first because last time we opened a new bottle and you claimed it was flat. First off they did not open a new one until I complained. I really don't know how they stay in business. Terrible service! Only thing this place has going for it, is that it is on post and right next to barracks and hotel. The Staff knows this and they use it because they know your not going anywhere else. They do not bring you refills, forget about you all the time, and at times leave the building for 10 plus minutes to smoke all at the same time. Ordered a drink when I first came in. About 20 minutes later my server got off work and left for the day. It was 45 minutes before anyone came to check on my table. They checked the other three around me but not mine. When I finally got someone's attention and got a menu and told them my server had left it took another 10 to come back and take my order. It was only somewhat busy. I agree with the other comments that if they were not the only choice close to the lodge they would be out of business. Great place to hang out with friends or grab a quick bite and beer. Right next to the lodging area also so that makes it super safe and easy for walking. The staff are the nicest around. The bar menu has a good variety of favorites like fried pickels, jalepeno bottle caps, wings, fries, burgers and tenders all are good. Beer on tap and full bar. Staff tries to be semi-helpful, but they had no draft beer, out of several appetizers, and when we tried to purchase t-shirts they were out of sizes in aircraft types we wanted to purchase in those also. Every interaction with our waitress started off with what they did not have available. We brought in friends from out of state and were very disappointed in what was offered. Retired military were willing to purchase items (t-shirts) and would have liked some with some of the vintage aircraft, but of course none of those were available. It was my first trip to the establishment, but certainly offered me nothing to make me want to go back. Just really could not get over the fact that they were actually out of draft beer.
