I chose this clinic only because they represented that they accepted my insurance. I was already pre-authorized by my insurance for six weeks of physical therapy. After my evaluation, they suddenly told me they would not honor my insurance because of an open claim. I made it clear at that time that I would not be returning or paying out of pocket. Despite that, they left future appointments on the schedule and then charged me for therapy sessions I had already said I would not attend. If they were the ones refusing to accept my insurance, they had the responsibility to cancel those appointments, not bill me for services after telling me they couldn't treat me under my insurance. This experience was unprofessional, frustrating, and demonstrated terrible customer service and billing practices. I would strongly recommend avoiding this clinic if you expect clear communication, honest billing, or respect for patients. When I injured my back, my doctor recommended physical therapy at MOTI Playa Vista. My experience with MOTI has been really great and I feel much more confident returning to the physical activities I enjoy. In particular, Dr. Caroline Schmidt was great to work with as she tailored my recovery towards the activities I wanted to get back into (like surfing and snowboarding) and worked with me to try different things to see what was most effective. I felt challenged through the exercises but not pushed too far where I thought I might re-injure myself. Her advice was holistic and covered not only what to work out on an ongoing basis, but little exercises I can do throughout the day while I work, what I can do to minimize stress on my body when traveling, warmups before strenuous movement, sleep tips, etc I also want to give a shoutout to Anthony who was my therapy aide for most of my sessions - he always brought a great attitude, was attentive, and very helpful! read more

Modern & clean space, caring & capable therapists, and very kind staff members! As someone who has been to MULTIPLE therapist locations for my post-surgery rehab, MOTI is easily the best I've been to. From ease of making appts, friendliness of staff, first evaluation, to final 'graduation', I felt extremely taken care of. I was paired with Dr. Salinda Chan last Oct 2022 to rehabilitate both my hips from FAI Impingement surgery + Labral Repair. From our 1st meeting, Salinda made me feel like I was in good hands. She listened to my history & carefully assessed my current state. We talked about my goals (to be able to run again), and how we would get there. Each session afterwards was extremely personalized. Sometimes we'd focus on glutes, sometimes we'd focus on back of the legs, sometimes we'd focus on plyometrics, etc. Not only so, Salinda was very personable and always expressed interest in what's going on with my life (lol!). She was great at asking questions, and remembering details about what you say. Not that I expect every PT to be your friend, but Salinda just happens to be amazing at being incredibly professional and personable at the same time. With Salinda, I've hit 2 personal PRs with weightlifting! Through our seshes, I learned how to properly assess what weight I should be lifting at, and how to safely increase. I feel like Salinda was not only my physical therapist, but my personal trainer, teaching me how to fish for myself when I'm training in the future/without her supervising. When I was ready to start running, Salinda devised a meticulous plan for me, checked in after every session, and coached me through supplemental impact/plyometric exercises. I never felt like I was floundering on my own through this process; Salinda was present every step of the way. In March of 2023, I graduated! I can't believe how far I've come after these past few months of working with Salinda. I feel more myself than ever since my 2 surgeries, much stronger, and much more equipped with the knowledge of how to train and take care of my body moving forward. I can't thank Salinda enough for helping me get back on my feet (literally). She's not only restored my ability to run, but also my confidence in myself. When I first came to her in Oct, I was pretty dejected & had low expectations of my body's recovery, but all that has completely changed. I'm so happy that I decided to come here for my recovery journey, and I have nothing but the highest praise for this facility! Also, the front desk staff are so so nice! You know that moment where you question yourself, and you're like, "how do I spell something?" But then you're like, I know how to spell! But then also, you're like, "how do I spell "the most amazing person ever working for the most helpful and amazing group ever"?" Did I go in a little skeptical because I was in the most pain of my life and thought there was zero light at the end of the tunnel? YEP! Did Dr, Caroline say, "hey buddy wake up, here is the light! This was my first PT experience and I'm glad I found MOTI. The facility was super clean; the staff was constantly cleaning the equipment, which I appreciated. Everyone that I had spoken to/dealt with were very nice and professional. I was treated by Dr Ricki for a leg injury and she is fantastic! It's such an LA thing to start with writing about parking, but this place has a great big free parking lot, so that's almost 5 stars right there! But the rest of the place is great, too, therapist Jayme Barr-Galang is a true professional, with vast knowledge and a wonderful, caring manner. The facility is clean and airy. As with many medical facilities, the billing was a little bit confusing, mostly because they thought I had met my deductible when I knew I hadn't so they actually undercharged me for several months! I really like the facility, the PT's and the PTA's here. Ample parking and they take insurance. My partner and I didn't have great experiences with one of the front desk employees. She screamed at me over and over at 7am while I was checking in like a child that demanded attention. Then when recommending MOTI to my neighbors they told me the same front desk lady made them cry and leave. Unacceptable. I would return if she were replaced. Front desk is the first and last impression. MOTI was aware but kept her on staff. Not once did she apologize to me for her actions. Have fun ignoring the rude front desk lady that they refuse to address who you have to schedule with....another miserable experience where she was rude again. 3 people so far have commented to me in passing how they will never go back because of her. So last year I injured my rotator cuff and my regular doctor suggested I seek physical therapy. I decided to give Moti a try as they were close by. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Facilities nice. Parking easy. Exercises not the most fun but they really got results, plus some transitionary exercises to help me get back to the gym. TL:DR - Professional staff, incredible results, great facilities. The Injury/ Background Info Since March 2022, I've had a stinging pain in my left shoulder. I got an MRI for it and discovered that I have shoulder impingement. For the next 2 months I would go to physical therapy to help it. This kind of helped, but whenever I worked out, regardless of the weight or intensity, the pain would return. I got my shoulder re-evaluated again, and was prescribed another round of PT. Based off of my girlfriend's experience with Moti Physiotherapy I decided to give them a shot. MOTI Located in the heart of Playa Vista, just off of Washington Blvd, you'll find Moti Physiotherapy. It's a brown brick building with ample parking. Inside, they require masks at all times, which I love! (Personal rant: covid is not over. It's more contagious than ever, and catching it reduces a persons white blood cell count. It's been likened to an airborne HIV. So mask up with an N95. Rant over.) All the staff are incredibly nice, from the front desk to all the Doctors and assistants. I have never had once had a bad interaction at Moti. Dr.Gregory Moy I was paired up with Dr.Moy based upon my injury and my availability. From the first meeting until the last, Dr.Moy was amazing! He listened to my whole personal history regarding my injury, and took into account all the factors that might have contributed to the injury. Each session began with Dr.Moy massaging the affected area. At times this was super painful, but I noticed that I had greater range of motion in my shoulder. We would then begin warming up and doing exercises. As we went through different exercises Dr.Moy would check in with me to see how it felt. Based upon my responses we would either try to lower the difficulty or proceed to a different exercise. Through this he was able to diagnose that the main cause of my shoulder pain was improper movement of my scapula. Over the next couple of sessions I started a regiment that began with isometrics to help strengthen my scapula before transitioning into actual weight lifting and high intensity workouts. Half way through my treatment of my left shoulder, I injured my right shoulder while working out. It was the same type of pain as my left and was probably shoulder impingement as well. Dr.Moy being the generous physical therapist that he is, begun to help me rejuvenate my right shoulder. Results After 5 weeks of going 2 times a week, both my shoulders are stronger than ever. I have been able to go to the gym and workout at full intensity. I haven't felt any pain in either shoulder and have regained full mobility. Before going to Moti and Dr.Moy, I was worried I'd have to get surgery to heal my shoulder, but I'm so glad that won't be the case. They really changed my life! read more

Last summer I went through a spinal fusion and was very worried and anxious on how to move months after my surgery. From month 4-6, I started my physical therapy at MOTI with Christine Lawson and honestly had the smoothest transition. Worst experience trying to schedule ever! I have Blue shield of CA PPO & am experiencing lower back pain after my recent c- section. I called and the lady Liz said I needed a referral. She couldn't even say my name right on the call which I had to keep correcting her. She said my Dr. didn't write the amount of time I needed on the prescription but she could schedule me anyway. She then said she didn't know any of the PTs or their specialty at this location because she normally works at Wilshire. I then asked if any of the therapist specialize in pelvic floor (which on our last call she said they did) but then she said "now you need to go get a pelvic floor prescription I can't book you". I just called my brother who is an Orthopedic at the DISC center in MDR & he said I need to go somewhere else. The attitude I received & unprofessional behavior is ridiculous. I will be sure to go elsewhere & advise others to stay away. Hire someone at your desk who knows what they're doing! read more

Incredible space, great therapists, good vibes! I went in for two injuries and Dr. Greg was thorough in analyzing both thoroughly and putting together a program for me. We always had a great time laughing and joking around but also getting the proper work done. A must for any physical therapy needs you have! I worked with MOTI for over a year through my recovery. It was a long year, full of challenges that were only made easier by MOTI and their team. I had the pleasure of working with Jake (Playa Vista) and Greg (Mid-Wilshire) throughout my time and both were amazing! I really appreciated how they tailored therapy to what I needed to return to my job in the military both physically and mentally. The additional care given to what my specific needs were made PT something I looked forward to. I also really appreciate that you receive at least half your time with a PT to discuss your recovery and consistently get scheduled with the same PT. The PTA's are also very easy to work with and provide quality support during sessions. The staff is all very easy to work with, even when insurance might get complex, everything was easy. I also really appreciated how invested the whole team was in my recovery. Even if I didn't work with them directly they checked in with me and they still celebrated my milestones and successes. A team of true professional, compassionate people that make being in pain and recovery a whole lot easier. 10/10 recommend! Living with a severe back injury since 2012, I have been to countless physical therapists. My experience at MOTI ranks easily as one of the finest I've ever had. He provided quality education concerning my injury and key information to ensure that I healed properly and most importantly, remain healed once all my sessions were completed. Taylor also worked alongside Dr. Moy. She offered valuable feedback and was a great motivator when I worked one-on-one with her. I hate to have to write a one star review (I would give this zero stars if I could) because my PT was perfectly lovely and I don't have complaints about my work with him. However, the billing office was actively stealing money from me for months (charging me full fee rather than co-pay). When I confronted them about it, I got different answers from at least three different people, but the final result was that they wouldn't refund any of the money I was owed until I was discharged. I got lots of run around about why and even when confronted with the facts that I had paid (more than three times what I owed) for a large number of sessions for which I knew they had also recieved reimbursement from my insurance, they denied that anything was a miss. That's definitely not how it works when you are in-network with someone's insurance, and I'm not in the business of lending for profit companies my personal money, so I had to be discharged. The process of trying to get it resolved took at least three hours of my time and untold amounts of frustration. To make matters worse, two weeks after I ended with them, I got a bill in the mail for the full fee (again!) for two sessions that I had already paid by my credit card that they had on file at the time of those sessions. Honestly, this was a nightmare. There are so many PT places in LA with much nicer facilities (I'm really liking Elite Orthosport!) and it's not worth the hassle of managing the actively deceitful and/or completely incompetent billing office here. read more
