I went to Blake Physical to receive treatment for a torn shoulder rotator cuff. I've had PT in the past and felt like it never worked for me so I turned to an interventional approach. I don't typically leave review's, however I feel that it is very important to share how much Blake Physical Therapy helped me. I am an avid runner, and I came very close to rupturing both my Achilles heels during a race that I wasn't aware was a 95% incline almost the entire route. Running was my solace, my, peace, my happy place, my therapy. After that race I had to abruptly completely stop running, which you can imagine takes a toll on the ol' mental health. I went to several places before I found Blake Physical Therapy and I was becoming very discouraged as my injury seemed to only be getting worse just from day to day activity, It was getting to the point where I couldn't even walk for 20-30 minutes when I woke up in the morning... excruciating pain. My first session at Blake, I could immediately tell that the staff is not only professional but incredibly caring and passionate about helping people recover from sports injuries, it honestly felt like maybe they had all been in my position before, which at this point was beyond reassuring. They genuinely cared about my recovery, and they really wanted me to be able to run again. Every person that works there is very knowledgeable, I loved it because each therapist seemed to have a different approach to my healing process but they all KNEW exactly what was needed in each stage of my healing. I was assigned to the perfect therapist she was incredibly patient and attentive to detail on my injury. I was cleared to run from my doctor only a few months later, and I genuinely cannot thank Blake physical therapy enough. I want to take a quick moment to say that my physical therapist , Lauren at Blake has been invaluable for my recovery from rotator cuff surgery and subsequent ulner nerve issues. I've had a fair amount of physical therapy over my life and Lauren has been one of the very best because of a few things . She's incredibly knowledgeable and knows her stuff and works extremely hard to help me make progress and or level out pain. She's an excellent listener and communicator so I know what's what's happening with my injuries and what I need to work on. She's also just a great human that counts with me a lot as well. After reading the incredible reviews, I was really looking forward to getting some relief at Blake. My first session was amazing. The physical therapist really took the time to analyze my injury. I got a deep massage and then a massage, gun and laser treatment along with stretches. Unfortunately, they book up so quickly that I wasn't able to get a second session at the Marina location and had to go to their spot in Culver City with a different therapist. My second visit if it's a physical therapist spent maybe 10 minutes with a massage gun, and then had his assistant Show me stretches to do that were pretty basic things. I already know and could've done on my own not only waste but a waste of the $50 co-pay. Needless to say I have no desire to go back now. read more

Dr. Alex is wonderful! I have a frozen shoulder, a bum knee and some hip mobility uses. My knee was cured on the first visit. She is careful, encouraging and very knowledgable. I love that whatever time your appointment is, that is the time you go back. She definitely works deep within your tissues and solve the problem. If you have any kind of complex orthopedic problem, steer clear of Blake Physical Therapy! Jessica Sison, their "most popular and best physical therapist," ripped a perfect Left SI Joint fusion apart during my initial evaluation. This fusion involved a joint that connects the spine to the pelvis. Jessica pulled on my left foot and ankle on the fused side during my first visit. I felt the pop, could heard it and yelped in pain. I am now in a fight just to walk. Blake Physical Therapy asked me to bring my medical records with me and when I handed them to Jessica, she rolled her eyes. Did she think I'm blind? I have an extensive history of spine and hip fusions, but before I could answer her questions about it, she cut me off. That's when I was put on her table and she pulled my left leg. I was given my "personalized exercise program" which I observed every single patient in the exercise room also doing. Crazy how we all must have the very same orthopedic issues. Furthermore, one of the exercises Jessica prescribed, exacerbated the pain she caused me during my evaluation. It was way too advanced for where I was in my recovery. I lasted 3 or 4 sessions and quit. My condition deteriorated, I was in more pain and became completely dependant on the very crutches from which I had nearly weaned when I first walked in Blake PTs doors. What Jessica and their office manager, Denise (who purportedly, conveniently and magically witnessed the whole thing) claim is a "routine diagnostic" resulted in 2 revision surgeries and an ablation in less than 2 years and months and months flat on my back in crippling pain. There are only 3 screws in this fusion and Jessica loosened all three of them. Now I'm struggling to even walk. I've had decades of physical therapy. I have never had any single one of them treat my body with such recklessness. That Denise had the gall to defend that action knowing at that point I had already undergone the first revision surgery, I suppose is understandable since she's the business manager. But on a human level, she was dishonest about witnessing the event and callous in every aspect of her cold responses to me. Two years ago, when I brought this to Denise's attention, I had pie in the sky hopes of receiving an apology or some act of compassion. I assured her I'm not litigious and, after the 1st revision, I also said I wouldn't post about them on social media. Denise took no accountability, and dug in on the routine diagnostic story. Cool. Well now I'm reneging on my word not to post my truth. I WAS DAMAGED HERE! read more

They are professional, they look and view exactly how to improve your pain on back or knee or any part of your body. They help immensely and they really are kind, and they understand and listen intently when you ask questions. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!! I went to this place for about a month, until leaving for a trip with my family to Spain. They had booked appointments for me the week I was going to be away. So the day before I left, I canceled those appointments and thought all was ok. I got home and there was a bill waiting for me for $250. They charged me for 5 missed visits. And when I called them to straighten this out, the receptionist wasn't having any of it...she would not help me. So not only did they refuse to fix their mistake, but here's the kicker...I can no longer book appointments with them. If I want to use their services, the only way is to call up everyday, and ask if there were any cancellations. Again they refused to help me on any level. So not only did they want their money, but they were not going to make any exception to their rule. Rude employees, dirty conditions, and the inability to listen to one of their customers who was trying to fix their mistake. So many other physical therapy places in the area...stay away from Blake's Therapy!! read more

Blake PT is a great place to recover. I saw both Courtney and Itchel over the last year to help me with my back issues. I had surgery 10 years ago on my L5-S1 disc and hurt myself snowboarding in March of 2021. I started going here in August 2021 to strengthen myself leading up to an eventual June 2022 surgery (two level artificial disc replacement). Their staff is friendly and attentive, punctual and respectful. I've been to a lot of physical therapy places where they churn you in and out and this isn't one of them. They take insurance which is great and spend 15-20 minutes of 1 on 1 hand on tissue work before going through exercises. The only thing I'd say they could improve is the facility is a little outdated and the equipment is older, but I care more about the trainer and I really liked mine. Highly recommend! read more

I have been coming to Blake Physical Therapy for years for chronic neck pain - (neck spasms and headaches/migraines). More recently, I have been coming for chronic back pain. From the moment I walk in the door, I am taken care of. The office staff is friendly and helpful, the therapists and aids are all top notch. For the first half hour I receive a hands on therapeutic approach followed by a half hour of exercise and ice or heat. I am also given a home program. As long as I do the home exercises, and occasionally come back for what I call a tuneup, I am pain free. I have been to all three excellent locations and highly recommend them! read more

I just concluded several months of Physical Therapy at Blake PT and I cannot say enough good things about my therapist, Andrea Mathieux. Her care and attention during the time we worked together was superior. Physical therapy is so much more than just handing out an exercise sheet; Andy's professional knowledge manifested during each and every session by her responses to my concerns and her ability to respond to those concerns through treatments. I know I made great progress in my recovery from a knee replacement surgery thanks to her guidance. I highly recommend her. I have seen many physical therapists over the years recovering from various significant surgeries (fusions, joint reconstructions, etc...) This time I was coming in after a 3 level lumbar fusion with an anterior and posterior approach. 2 discs, 2 plates, 2 rods and 14 screws. I know what is right and wrong in a PT clinic and coming back from this surgery was going to be really hard. I needed something different than my last PT offered, who was also very good, and I found Blake. Blake PT is great, the owner is old school, been in the neighborhood forever and my only interaction with him he was arrogant and blew off the only appointment I ever had with him because my regular PT was not there that day. I was scheduled to see him, he pawned me off on a new but capable PT (she's great) and never said a word to me as I watched him work with someone else. I know why he made his choice but I am not going to get petty. I have been going 3 times a week for 4 months and 3 times a week for 6 weeks before my surgery. I mean at least be respectful if you blow me off and introduce yourself. It was poor form and disrespectful. Even after that, I still highly reccomend Blake PT. You will get healthy at Blake. Jasmine was my Physical Therapist. She is 100% a pro and working with an incredible foundation of knowledge and practical experience. She is the reason I am walking and moving so well again in months. I am grateful. She will get you where you want to go, if you are willing to put in the work. PT is about you putting in the work at home, not just the office. I also worked with Courtney numerous times as well as Itchell a couple times and they are both very good PT's. The PT Aides are young and energetic and will put you through your paces. The atmosphere is one, for me, that is filled with energy and a good vibe. It makes you want to work to get better. Elaine, the masseuse is fantastic. She understands the relationships of the muscle groups and how they affect your body. I appreciated her understanding of my injuries, scar tissue and how much pressure to use on those areas and how to massage without damaging. She is very good and cares about your health. She is worth giving yourself an hour break. The front office, Michelle, Kimye, are always a warm greeting. They will take care of your needs and they are the perfect front office energy. Dr. Alex is the best chiropractor I have ever been to!! I've seen many different doctors and chiropractors over the last 10hrs and no one has been able to help reduce my pain. Before seeing Alex I was getting migraines daily. I see her once a week and it's very rare I even get a headache anymore. This is saying a lot!!! I sprained my wrist pretty bad over the Holidays. Emergency pretty much sends you on your way after X-rays. Blake took me in right away, confirmed problem and went to work. I had six appointments at Blake before I quit. The therapist, Sarah is a great young therapist, just out of school. All the other therapists are very young too, with little experience. I brought the results of my X-rays (lumbar spine), but I wonder if anyone looked at them. Like another reviewer wrote, I did not feel safe in that large room full of people coming and going. I mentioned the lack of physical distancing to the manager who said that as an essential business, they did not have to abide by that rule. Really? When I go into any essential business (supermarkets, pharmacy, post office, restaurants, etc), physical distancing is strongly enforced. What she said is just not true! The manager also showed me the door, and said I could leave anytime! Also there is practically no cleaning between patients. This is a dangerous place! Because I complained, I got a semi private room, but this was not enough to keep me going there. If enough people complain, that will have to adjust their practices, or close the place. Great place for physical therapy! I work with Elizabeth Davis but all of the staff members are so nice and friendly. They definitely work together as a team. I basically broke both my ankles and put off going to a Doctor for over a month +. After some X-rays I was put in a brace for one ankle and cast on m other. I lost some of my mobility, flexibility, and range in motion for both. Elizabeth treats both ankles differently and really takes her time feeling and analyzing them. She also explains what she's doing and why we do the exercises. Also the electric stimulation and ice at the end are very nice touch after warming up your problem area. So far I've been really enjoying my physical therapy which is something people probably don't look forward too or enjoy. Definitely would recommend to my friends and family. read more

Dr. Alex is the chiropractor at Blake. She is not your "typical" chiropractor; instead, while of course she focuses on my spinal alignment, she also works on my general strength and wellbeing. Each visit is accompanied with exercises and heat and stim, just like when I've received physical therapy, but I get the benefits of chiropractic, as well. Dr. Alex, has done wonders for my neck, which was a mess before seeing her! She has also been nursing me through a lower back/pelvis injury! So happy! read more

The person that picks up the phone is an arrogant argumentative, anxious woman who is very abusive she couldnt get the spelling of the name correct after respelled three times and she is deaf she keeps asking you to repeat and she is unable to listen. I told her to relax so she can focus she got offended. She is helpless. I kept telling her the first name is correct she kept saying you have to repeat it!!!! She has serious mental issues and, is unable to communicate in a relaxed manner and shamelessly bullies patients due to her own anxiety. I couldn't speak with her boss but she gave me the worst experience of my life as I got frustrated by her deafness and ended up leaving the call with so much headache due to her mental blocks that made her that way. Please check people mental sanity and anxiety level before hiring them as your "care" team so they don't transfer their negativity to people who are healing. Fix the system. read more

Dr. Sarah has been beneficial in rehabilitating my lower back and hamstrings. I came into the clinic with pain going down my leg and in four intensive sessions she was able to diagnose and rehabilitate my hip. I have had just general body pain for years. If it's not one thing, it's another and it sounds ridiculous but it can be debilitating. I started seeing Alex for chiropractic a few weeks ago and if you want a chiropractor that's just going to pop your spine back into place, make you spend tons of $$ on X-rays or not actually treat the cause but just the symptoms, go somewhere else. Dr. Alex does absolutely none of that and actually treats the cause of the pain. I've never been to a chiropractor that was so interactive, helping me help myself and telling me things I can work on in my daily life to decrease pain. I notice my daily aches and pains lessening, and my stability and strength improving with her expertise. Highly recommend her as a clinician. Plus she plays awesome music in her room off the main PT room and has a great energy! read more

I went to Blake for PT after my ACL surgery and the therapist Jessica gave me such a nasty experience that after the 2nd visit I switched to another clinic. Every time I would inadvertently place my right foot on the ground she would bark at me to keep my weight of it (I did 98% of the time but it's practically impossible not to sometimes) The tone in her voice and the angry look on her face was reminiscent of that mean teacher you had in grade school. I was in trouble, she was in charge. When we took my brace off she kept on whining that gauze was damp (you ever tried to bathe in a leg brace?) I suggested redressing it and she didn't think they had any gauze around (In a PT clinic?!) she kept on saying "It's daaaaamp!" With disgusted look on her face like 14 y/o not a medical professional. eventually someone brought some and re-dressed it. Leaving was no better, she bitched at me again for misplacing my foot as I struggled to stand up instead of helping me. She actually asked if I wanted to take the old gauz with me and dry it b/c "It's daaaaamp!" She told me the incision on my knee was infected, I went to my Dr. the next day and he said it was just skin irritation and also that I COULD rest weight on the foot-She didn't even bother to read his notes! She was rude, unprofessional, lazy and incompetent. Nightmare experience. read more

I've been referred for physical therapy twice in the last couple of years and Blake has come through with flying colors on both occasions.
