Motocycle Messenger has been able to handle even the most difficult assignments and has affected service on all defendants in an ethical and legal manner. These guys really know what they are doing. I was so impressed. Yesterday afternoon I emailed the small claims paperwork which I had e-filed, I quickly got an email back billing me, and this morning I find out that the couple has already been served. And that is despite the defendants claiming it was not them, that the requested parties had moved long ago, and one of the defendants becoming angry. They persisted and got them served. Great job! And, replying to one of the other reviewers who said the person answering the phone was bullying or condescending, that was not my experience at all - the guy was efficient and straight forward. read more

Over the top service. I needed to serve my former landlord for small claims court. She eluded the sheriff's deputies but she she did not elude motorcycle messenger. They stayed on her till the mission was accomplished. Then, they followed up with a phone call to let me know she had been served. Then they followed up again after my court date to see how it went. Above and beyond. I hired these guys to serve a shady client that refused to pay me. The first time they served him, he signed with a fictitious name and a last initial. I showed up in small claims court with my proof of service in my hand and the judge threw me out for failing to serve an officer of the corporation I was suing. I called MM the next day. Not only did they have a video of the owner signing the papers, they went back and got him to sign again using his actual name. For small business owners using the Small Claims route trying to avoid horrendous legal costs, small claims servers are a crucial part of the justice system. These guys make it easy to pay and provide email confirmation, and it's nice to know they cover their ass and yours with actual video of service. read more

Used ECS for personal service of documents for our clients. On first contact, the owner John was dry and unfriendly; I worked with them over email and received a paypal invoice to pay. After about three services, they began to show their "professionalism". We asked for a defendant in a case to be served the same day. We call them the following day to check on status to find out they did not even make an attempt. The owner told one of our staff that we were "calling too much". So make sure you don't like to call to check up on or make sure a service is being done with these guys, they apparently cant be bothered. Next service we get a paper bill all of a sudden instead of a paypal invoice, when I ask them to send me a paypal invoice, now all of a sudden there is a $4.50 processing fee to send me a paypal invoice. These people do business terribly, their website states they are professional but a company who does not take well to client inquiries and nickels and dimes you on everything is far from it. Stay far away from these guys if you want any semblance of professionalism in your courier service. read more

Made a phone call to them, gave them full and direct instructions of how I needed the process serving executed, never had to repeat myself, and 15 mins. later they were at my doorstep-took my letter to the "bad guy" and 10 minutes later they were back with signed release letter in hand. Short review: This place screws you over. The owner yells at you, the people who work there are unprofessional, and they won't do what you pay for (they don't do anything, in fact). Don't go here!!!! Just check their response to this message to see the arrogance. "We are sorry that YOU don't understand the process". I received no report, another lie. "We did our best" is another lie. Business owners who have clients who are this unsatisfied are accommodating and provide all the information they can and proof they actually did something. Don't trust these people, they lie (you see it on Yelp!), and they screw you over. They don't even care what customers think, they just want your money! Long review: Do not go here! They lie, they cheat, they yell at you, and they don't deliver. Where are the zero stars to give to Motorcycle Messenger? I actually went to this place because of the reviews on Yelp. Boy, was I wrong! First of all, communication is horrid, which is rather ironic for a company that proclaims to deliver messages. They won't tell you their rates over the phone, so you have to email them and they will answer "right away, within 20 minutes". "Right away" is not 20 minutes, but means more than 24 hours later, even though I described the urgency of my service. When they do answer you, it is like a robot answers you. No service, just a curt message that mostly focuses on the price (keep reading! That's the only thing they care about). They don't even give you a name, which gives a very impersonal flavor to an already robotic message. It gets worse, though... After the money talk got started, Motorcycle Messenger was all of a sudden very fast with responding (though still impersonal). After receiving the money, however ... Supposedly Motorcycle Messenger would try within three days and keep me updated "every step of the way" (you'd hope for $175 to deliver a couple of papers). This was a lie. I had to email them after a whole week to ask for a update, which they would not give me. They emailed days later with another robot message that contained absolutely no information at all. Had they already made any attempts? How many? Absolutely not clear. Evasive language, no clarity ... and more lies. After a wait of nearly two weeks, they finally gave me a (very convenient) message that the person who needed to be served "does not live there anymore". "The roommate told them" that he had moved. How convenient! Not only is this not true, it is also outrageously naive. When you are in the business of finding people that do not want to be found, you really believe someone's claim outright? When I asked about this, they told me it would be all be in the report ... which they never sent!!! How about they put me in touch with the messenger? Or how about they ask that person why he knew for certain the person moved? Nope, can't do that. Why not? No explanation. All of this prompted a phone call. Have you ever paid someone $175 who yelled at you? Well, I have! I asked how they knew he really moved ... boy, some talk back! Oh, by the way, it happened to be the owner. "YOU CALLING ME NAIVE!?", he yelled at me ... wales swimming in Alaska could hear the man. I do not how many times I heard "LISTEN TO ME!", as if I am a child. At one point, I just let him speak for four whole minutes without interruption ... kept yelling at me. He yelled so loud my girlfriend, who sat across from me, thought it was a shrieking lady. After he yelled at his client, he eventually conceded that they would send the report at the end of the week. Which up to this point never arrived. In my opinion this place is breaking the law and a total sham. The owner came up with some nonsense story of how they "TAKE AN OATH" (yep, he yelled that too!), so I should just shut up ... does that mean they can just scam me? There is a very simple explanation why they yell for no apparent reason, provide zero information, and are only somewhat communicative when you pay them: they just did not attempt to deliver any papers. It is very simple. They simply accept payment and screw you over when they get the money. Those of us who do not take false oaths call this a scam! Do not fall for it! They won't give you a refund ... for something they did not do. A sham this place is! I want my money back! Never put your money in their hands. Sadly I had to use this service for the first time to take my landlord to small claims court due to mold. I had never filed a lawsuit against someone and felt uneasy about it. I spoke with Lisa along the way who was great, made me feel comfortable and kept me in the loop the whole time. She literally had me on the phone while they were serving my landlord to let me know what was going on. Plus my landlord was not an easy one to track down considering she didn't live at any address that matched the MLS or her license plate. Once they finally found her at our old rental property (where she denied her identity) they got to the bottom of it and she finally got served! read more

I never ended up using these guys because I couldn't even get anywhere on the phone with them. After reading some of the Yelp reviews I got excited thinking they could serve the defendant in my small claims court case who had alluded the sheriff but the guy on the phone (maybe the owner mentioned by others who has no personality?) said they could only do it with a good address and it was $95 to risk it if the address wasn't good. Well, the whole point in my needing them was because the sheriff couldn't get the girl. Sooo... kind of pointless and didn't help. If I just needed someone to serve papers I'd use the sheriff for $35. Way cheaper. No thanks. read more

When I try to serve some court papers for my wife, I contact this company. Initially they boast their capability and ask me to trust them. Just before I try to pay the service fee, I come to yelp review found some negative comment about this company. I asked them again when prepare all detailed document, suddenly, they turn down my request without any reason. I feel fortunate not waste my time and money on this junk. They even try to mask my review in order to deceive other innocent customer. That is the reason I will give them Zero or Negative grade if possible. Think twice even before contact them!!! read more

I used to work for a pharmaceutical company that used these guys several times. Now that I no longer work for that company I can give an honest review. These guys don't care about your package, or you. Find someone else. In the 6 months we used them, we had 5 broken packages, 2 lost packages (that they couldn't account for), and had no concern for being on time or reporting when and if packages were delivered. Callous, careless, and entitled. The "motorcycle" gimmick will draw you in, thinking it's efficient and fast, but they are just unreliable idiots. read more

Quality varies significantly and in order to meet my needs, I wanted to find a company I could return to again and again. I got in touch with MM and I realized that I had found the level of quality I was looking for. The team went out of their way to help me and to deliver important legal documents to someone who wasn't making it easy for them. These guys are total frauds. They completely botched my order by first delivering it to the wrong location, claiming the location didn't exist. When they finally got it right and delivered my package was damaged and broken. They made all kinds of claims it wasn't their fault and they can't be responsible, blah blah. All they had to do was pick up a parcel and deliver it and they couldn't get it right. 3 days and they fucked it up, AND the parcel was damaged. They should at least have the sense of honor to admit when they screw up. read more

I have never had dealings with this company prior to coming to my current firm and have discontinued as of today. ESC's quality is mediocre and I am being nice! Their messengers for court filings -- at least and the ones disbursed to our office -- do not have a clue how to file documents and have little or no experiences with the courts. I have dealt with more experienced messengers with court filing experience. They are probably only good for simple task and quick deliveries. Clear verbal instructions were given TWO times maybe I should have written them with a crayon. The guy who answers the phone has about as much personality as a potato. Anything having to do with filing court documents AVOID... ABORT... Using their services to serve someone you may have a chance --- at least that is what other review posters are happy about. Because they don't have a clue about the process of the courts you don't have 50/50 chance in H*ll of success ... GOOD LUCK -- we are gone! Sean was very helpful in explaining the process to us and persistent in his attempts to serve our landlady. we had tried to serve her through a friend and also through the sheriff's dept, but both were unsuccessful. she is shady and does not respond to people calling or coming to her door. we were pleasantly surprised that he was able to deliver results within a week of us contacting him. highly recommend motorcycle messenger! read more

Sean's services are alright. The first time he tried to serve the court papers he charged me $95 for 6 attempts. I had already told him the Sheriff had already tried to serve them and failed because the defendant is being evasive. Nevertheless, Sean proceeded to do what the sheriff had already tried and failed even though I had already told him that. So anyway, so goes my $95, of course Sean failed. Then I asked him to do a stakeout, he said he was charging $65/hour to sit there waiting for the defendant. He said he would do it. When I contacted him about payment I received no response from him. That forced me to move my court date back a few weeks or else I wasn't going to serve defendant in time. So after a couple of more failed attempts to contact him I just found another person to do the work for me. That person went out twice, chased down the defendant and served her, all for $100. So to sum it up: Motorcycle Messenger is unreliable and pricy. My advise is: find somebody better. read more

Cost for 6 attempts for personal service of small claims papers is $175. The person I was serving was cooperating and we were in constant contact because we both wanted to complete the service process as quickly as possible so that we could reach a court settlement. I had let them know that this person would only be home at certain hours, and before I agreed to hire them, they promised they would accommodate those hours. I gave them the person's daily schedule, and the person's phone number so that they could reach him and he could be ready for them outside the building when they were on their way. I immediately knew something was wrong when I requested an updated, and they refused to send me any information on their attempts until they "completed" the 6 attempts. After I threatened to take my payment back because they had allegedly attempted service 5 times over 3 days with no results, they sent me a picture (conveniently a half an hour earlier when every other email that morning had been responded to within 5-10 minutes) that included a package at the door that I knew for a fact was sitting at the door because the person had not gotten home yet. The picture, of course, had no time or date stamp. When I pointed out the obvious, the people at the service were extremely rude. They alleged that I clearly was the type of person who would never be satisfied, and claimed that they were "professionals" and that I should just let them do it their way. That would be fine if I was not paying $175 and if they were not alleging that they only had one more attempt to go. The final attempt was only successful because I let them know that I would be sitting outside the apartment with the person to be served in order to confirm that they were actually attempting service. I also made it clear that if they were not there as promised I would attempt to get a refund for my payment by launching a complaint with PayPal. They promised they would be there, and that they would call me when they were downstairs. Not only did I not get a phone call (or a response when I called them repeatedly and left messages starting around when they were 15 minutes late), but they were also 30 minutes later than promised. The server clearly did not know where the person being served lived, he drove by in his motorcycle looking at the building numbers in a way that indicated he was lost, stopped a block and a half away and turned around, until he finally spotted us waiving frantically at him from the sidewalk. When I talked to the server it slipped that the office closed 30 minutes earlier, making their promise of a phone call to alert us that they were downstairs a clear lie (nobody was ever going to call, at least not from the office that would have necessarily been closed at the time of service). They had also claimed in previous emails that they had called the person being served during the previous 5 attempts to see if he was home. That was also clearly a lie proven by (1) the phone records, and (2) the fact that the office would have been closed, based on the server's information and my experience trying to contact them, every time they allegedly attempted service. Finally, I was glad that I insisted that the server fill out proof of service on the spot, because I never received a follow up email after service to ensure that service was completed, or to send me a copy of the service papers (which I let the messenger scan with his phone, and requested that he let them know I also wanted the digital copy). I was glad that I insisted that he give me a hard and true copy of service because it turns out that small claims court requires an original, and anything they emailed to me would have been insufficient. The messenger was cool, but everybody I talked to over the phone and email was horrendously rude and unprofessional and shady. Don't believe the positive posts below, written years ago. Listen to David, Ali and Ray and find somebody else who can do it cheaper, and more professionally and reliably. Update: Sean, claiming to be a manager from ECS, called me after I posted this review, and I spent 41 minutes on the phone. He proceeded to verbally abuse me, in an attempt to get me to take down my post, claiming that I had no right to post a negative review. Nevermind all the unprofessional responses, during and after service, in response to my complaints (that they conveniently fail to mention in their responses), including some saying that I should "Get a life!", and threatening to refuse to remove my personal, confidential and private information from Yelp unless I "removed" my post. Nevermind that service was completed because of my persistence. Note that all of our email exchanges were covered by a Confidentiality Notice that I relied on when providing my personal information. If you value your privacy, and respect, do not deal with ECS. I will be filing complaints with the appropriate legal and business authorities. read more

I am an intelligent and well-educated person but am new to the concept of process serving. I wanted to understand the process and Motorcycle Messenger's billing rates (as they were not exactly as the site conveyed them) before I authorized further payment for services I was not initially informed of. The guy helping me over the phone was not only condescending, but was a bully and lacked the patience I would think good customer service requires.
