I recently needed to buy a car and was looking for an X3. I found a car I liked at Motorwerks and was able to talk to a friendly sales rep and was able to set a time to go check it out. The rep was nice and helpful in comparing cars options, bringing them all out of the garage, etc. - helping me weigh the pros and cons of each model. We negotiated a fair price and he arranged financing. From there when I picked the car up they had everything ready, car was detailed, registered, and they have a specialist who helps you set up all the tech, apps, and gadgets. I have no idea if that is normal, but it was really helpful as I am not at all tech savvy. I have since been back for a scheduled service and the process was easy and the service reps were also professional and efficient. read more

I scheduled service in advance and after dropping the X5 off, 3 hours later I was informed that the service would not be performed. I appealed the decision to Michelle Phelps, the service manager, and in a caustic snotty unprofessional response she declared it was not their fault or issue to service. I escalated the problem to BMW corporate relations, and they agreed that this dealer was wrong in denying me the service I scheduled. They also denounced the service managers conduct. Michelle called me later and in her caustic posture told me the X5 would be serviced by them. I would never depend on this dealership for service, and you may think the same. read more

Review based on my service center experience. I brought my X5 in for an oil change and truly could not have asked for a better experience. For a $20 convenience fee I got a car to use for the day while mine was being worked on. We got a text with a video of the entire underside of our car with a technician walking through pointing out the condition of everything (everything looked great and they didn't try to up sell us to do anything more than the oil change). All documents were texted for signature as well. Very seamless experience. Not to mention, Craig was the absolute nicest person to work with. We will definitely be coming back! read more

Called to check on the status of the vehicle and make certain the car would be available the following Monday. Service unable to determine the status of the vehicle. Called back to see if someone could determine the status of the vehicle only for the phone system to hang up, 5 time. Salesman promised a BMW keychain but never happened. Had my 3 series in for a service. Had a professional welcome and explanation on everything going on with my car (2 recalls to do in the future) and put a plan together with Loren. The next day I noticed the oil level in the car was slightly below full (still green according to the computer but not quite full). Emailed Loren and within 30 minutes they sent a tech to my office and he topped off and made it right even though it probably didn't need to be done. Can't say I've ever had service that good before! 6months ago I had a tire bubble, wanted to check it out since it's the closest, the service advisor dropped my key to the ground and insist there's no damage without even looking at it. Also, they said there's no warranty on road hazard. But turns out it does have warranty they just didn't know anything. Don't come here, Minnetonka is the only place that's trustworthy. Went to Minnetonka they ask me to check it out at discount tire store as there could be manufacture warranty. This 5 star rating is for Marcus Simmons in the parts department only. I have an older (2007) bmw that I or family do most of the service on. Talk to any BMW and you know many don't recommend this but as a younger female I usually get pretty discouraging comments about how much damage I'm probably doing or that I don't know what I'm talking about. Marcus has completely changed that narrative. When I call or visit and speak to him about what's needed he is kind, honest, thorough, and encouraging. Crooks. I had a 3-year lease with them. I didn't want any surprise charges at the end so I did a pre-inspection one month before lease end. I was told everything was good. Then when I turned in the car they identified extremely minor hail damage and wouldn't take my car back until I paid to fix it. This made me have to extend my lease which was an unneeded expense for me because I had already bought another car. Also, Service department doesn't talk with Sales and Sales doesn't talk with BMW financial services. Anytime there is a problem that crosses between siloes of the organization you get no help. One division tells you to go to another to deal with your problem. read more

I have had my oil changed here three times. The first time went well. The second time they forgot about me in the waiting room while I waited. Hoping this was just an excusable oversight by a busy employee, I returned for a third time today. Again, a bad experience. In spite of a call to confirm the oil change is covered under my complimentary service package, I was informed when I got here that it is not. Next I spent nearly two hours waiting for a simple oil change. I will not buy another car here, in spite of a good sales experience when I originally purchased the car. Was looking at a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle and was about to buy it when I discovered that it had been in a serious front end accident that disabled the vehicle and required towing. They had gone so far as to disable the link to the CarFax report on their website, making it harder to learn about this. I've owned several BMWs, and I have never heard of certifying a damaged car like this and then hiding the history. When I raised this with the GM, he didn't even have the courtesy to reply to my email. Not once he realized I wasn't going to buy (prior to that he was eager to chat). If this is the way they choose to operate, you might want to consider going elsewhere. read more

Called to schedule. Had to suggest that I needed to leave overnight as issue I not is present when car is started when cold. Loaner program charges $20 for gas even if you drive 19 miles. Not very customer friendly. It is a nice perk though. He'd a am appointment yet it was not done at 1. Called and was told it would be 30 minutes. Went there after an hour and still had to wait another 1.5 hours. Very pricey for parts and labor. Had to ask for detailed quote even though I asked up front not for that. SERVICE DEPARTMENT WARNING!!! Never a problem with my 2013 X3. Had these guys adjust my headlights. They dropped it off at my home, the next morning there is about 2 gallons of blue fluid under each headlight. I called, explained the situation, they said "just monitor it." Not sure I like my bmw leaving HUGE puddles everywhere. Wherever I park there are two huge blue puddles so I took it back and they asked me to wait while they check it out. One hour later they say "it's leaking , you owe us $200" - funny because I already knew it was leaking. Charged me an additional $25 to fill up the washer fluid. I could have purchased 10 gallons of washer fluid for that price. Lol. I've never been charged by a shop to diagnose a problem. Currently own bmw, audi, Chevy, Ford, Kia, and a gmc. Have owned over 70 cars. I've been to many shops/ mechanics and never have I run into this kind of theft. Clearly working on the headlights they altered something with the headlight washers and now leaking heavily. I've seen other people with this exact experience online in bmw chat rooms. If possible - get your bmw serviced elsewhere. read more

If I could give 0 stars that would be the case. Never bringing my car back to Motorwerks. Everyone reading this, just stick with Minnetonka or do the work yourself. First off, had the n63 "care package" done on my car about a month ago at 70k miles. Had them walnut blast the carbon debris while they had the engine apart. Charged ~$1,400 for that, then was told if I want my car to run smoothly I need new coil packs as well otherwise they cant "guarantee" it'll work properly.... When I just had new coil packs put in ~10k miles prior, another ~$1,000 for that. My total for the work came to around $2,900 for the things I "had" to pay for when they were doing recall work to ensure it worked "properly." This is just the beginning. When I went to pickup the vehicle it was storming outside and they had parked my car in the lot for pickup so I was unable to check the engine right away. When I started the car they must've reset everything because I had service lights all on my display. Funny enough started the car after I cleared those and a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT came on mind you I am still in the BMW lot, I went back in and my service advisor told me that it was because of my catless downpipes and BMW could not clear those codes. I ensured him that something was wrong as I have CEL bungs off the downpipes to where the o2 sensors are pushed out of the cats and sit back so the post cats dont cause CEL. My advisor threw in my face that even with that I would still have the CEL mind you when I brought it in I didn't have a CEL and to make it more interesting I have never had a CEL for my o2 sensors from the catless downpipes since they were installed. Something was wrong and I knew it. I couldn't check because it was storming so I drove it to my garage, Popped the hood and oh man did I see countless screws missing, clips undone, and the culprit I dont know what they did but the pre and post cat o2 sensors were just loose like they've not even been hand tightened let alone tightened with the o2 socket. Boom no big deal fixed that in 10 minutes but was really concerned by the amount of screws missing holding the engine together LOL. Called Hussam back and he checked with the mechanic and claimed thats how it was when it came in and he just put it back as it came.. Wrong, I baby this car and anything even just the slightest scratch on the paint I notice and fix right away. I'm not even to the issue yet, about 3 weeks and 1.2k miles after the partial rebuild and all that other stuff... I hear a rod knock at idle in park as I am about to go to work... shut off the car, made an appointment and did not drive or start the car again till the day of the appointment. Started the car and drove about 10 feet to get it off the side of the road and the engine just seized completely. Towed it to BMW, explained what happened and asked to have them look at it to try and see what caused this. I also explained there could be a huge possibility that it could be from previous repairs and was shut down right away and told theres no way the partial rebuild could've caused this. Few days go by before I hear back from BMW and they call me to tell me the loaner they gave me sold and they needed it back that day as they close at 5 and they called around 2:30pm. I couldn't leave work to drop it off and they got mad at me even though I dropped it off right at 7:30 am the next morning. Then when I dropped it off they explained I need to pay around $26,000 to get my turbos, engine and all the oil lines and everything replaced at my expense. I told BMW how I only serviced my car at BMW and so everything should be on record, I asked if I could take a day to think about the next steps as I was in shock and they told me that I wouldn't be able to get another loaner for the time being but they would just uber me back to where I needed to go. Whatever. I call BMW customer relations to start a goodwill coverage claim, and they redirected me back to the dealership to work with the service manager which I called and he told me to just email Hussam all the other service records from Minnetonka because they apparently cannot view those. I sent it over and 2 days later Hussam replied "I'm afraid BMW said they are not participating in any goodwill for replacing the engine in your 550. I'll be working with my service manager and parts manager to see if there is anything else we can do to bring down the cost. I'll contact you once I have that total and go from there." Now I am working with my lawyer and corporate and am working directly with BMW and taking the dealership out of the picture in terms of this claim. Long story short if your thinking about going to this dealership run as fast as you can. Money hungry, unhelpful, disrespectful when presenting my knowledge, degrading and just out right unprofessional. Even the rental assistant who gave me my loaner said this was horse shit and BMW should cover it. I will add to this review once my claim is done read more

***BUYERS BEWARE!*** Bought Certified Preowned BMW 335XI from Eric Bugenhagen at Motorwerks BMW on 04-15-17 The day we bought it Eric (Salesman) backed into another car. Eric assured us the bumper would be repainted or replaced to new condition as there was no damage to it before this. As a condition of the sale Eric also promised that the few cosmetic gouges in the door sill would be repaired. That we could schedule an appointment any time & have it repaired at no cost. I noticed during the test drive that our iPhones were NOT working through the usb hub located under the center arm rest. Eric said he would have them order the iPhone snap-in bracket as that eliminates dealing with a cord & your cell would use the antenna on the roof of the car. We were told the benefits of buying from Motorwerks was the warranty that they would pick our car up from work/home & leave loner of comparable make/model, that it is bumper to bumper warranty & no expense to us. Motorwerks Finance Manager Michael Heller sat us down & up sold us on Performance Wrap, Treatment of the interior & leather upholstery. Michael EXPLICITLY stated that the performance wrap self heals with the heat of the car wash, we could get the lowest cost car wash package because we wouldn't need to wax or buff (that we actually shouldn't wax or buff) "That bugs, dirt, sap & tar come right of with just water." He said that small dents were covered with whatever warranty he was pitching, he said "if the wrap was nicked, scratched, peeling or damaged in anyway it would be replaced at no charge to our satisfaction" Also as a condition to the sale we were having this standard BMW 335xi converted to M Performance, Brakes, exhaust, trim, chipped. They had our car for about a week & I went into check on progress. They had some of the conversion done but said they didn't know about some of the other modifications. So they had to order parts & had our vehicle another week. Because we hadn't had our vehicle for 2 weeks we wanted to drive it. So they said we could schedule a time to come back to do the rest. On 08-28-2018 we scheduled to bring our car in for general maintenance all of these unresolved issues & promises & the air conditioner in High setting was making a loud noise. Service Advisor Andy Kelm tells us we will be charged for loner, that we would be responsible for service technician evaluating what is wrong with air conditioner. I addressed all of the other promises made & he stated he had no record of any of it & we would have to talk to Sales Manager. We waited & talked to sales manager. Sales manager said to Andy Kelm to have it taken care of. 9 days later, after no call, text or email from BMW I called Service department. Went to voice mail. When Andy Kelm called back he said nothing is wrong with usb & we have to buy a specific cord to make our phones work. I reminded him about being promised the iPhone snap-in adapter & he said "BMW doesn't make any such accessory that utilizes the roof antenna" & said the sales manager said he would talk to me about how they were going to resolve this. Then Andy calls my wife to tell her the car is done. Wife goes to pick it up after work, calls me because the sales manager we were dealing with wasn't there so now i'm talking to a different sales manager that said he will look into it & call me back that evening or tomorrow morning. My wife gets our car back & it was dirty as if they went mudding with it. (What happen to included car wash) They absolutely did nothing with our car! They had it for 10 days! In the service notes they state they didn't do anything. They said they were looking for a leak in door, never said there was. I explicitly explained that there was something wrong with the air conditioning & condensation from the vent under the steering wheel, dripped on my foot.They also STOLE our M Air stem caps & replaced them with generic. Then on her way home sales manager tried calling her. I immediately called him back straight to VM. Next day still no call. 2 days later, Still no call read more

I thought BMW was known for its customer service but that has not been my experience. When I bought my car from my parents I was assured that the maintenance plan was transferred to me until the end of the year. When I went to schedule my oil change they say it was not covered. So after calling and talking to the manger they got me scheduled and again I was assured it was covered under the plan. When I got to my appointment they had no notes about this at all. I had to show them the email they sent me to convince them I was telling them the truth. They said they needed to contact the manager to approve. I sat for 40 min waiting for them to come back and tell me what was going on before going to ask them. They said it had been approved for the oil change on "their dime". No sir I had already paid for it in a maintenance package. This all took place a few months after I had brought my car in for a different issue. My appointment was at 9am and but 430pm I still had not gotten a call about my car being done so I called them. My car had still not been looked at. They topped my fluids off and washed my car but they never even looked at the issue I brought it in for. They told me to bring it back and they would look at it and see if they needed to order a part. read more

Worst experience ever when it came to trying to buy a car from them. Asked them to give me rough estimated payments for the vehicle before pulling my credit and they then sent my credit out to 10 different banks which Is absolutely unheard of being in the car business myself. The salesman never got back to me or answered the phone. One time I called a different salesman answered and he asked my salesman for his extension number while on the phone with me and then after transferring me over my salesman still didn't answer. Not to much positive to say about this place. I have been going to this shop regularly hoping to give them an opportunity to change, but it always ends with disappointment. I never feel welcomed when I drive in to the service garage as I have to wait longer than people who come after me to get service. It's always a long wait later when someone walks by, sees me sitting/standing by my car and nonchalantly exclaim "you've been helped right?" Onto the service, I recently had my alignment fixed and noticed that my steering wheel was not centered. When I mentioned that to the service advisor, he said recommended that I get another alignment (like paying for a whole new service ). I declined the service and commenced to pick up my car after an oil chance. They usually wash the car and vacuum the interior when you get an oil change, but none of that treatment this time. Quality of service seems to decline every time I go there. Can a young black male go to a BMW and be treated just like any other respectable customer? You'd think so in 2020. Update: customer service scheduled to fix a couple of the above problems. Again, the front staff are still not friendly. Upon the return of my car I noticed a fresh curb rash, which the rep tried to deny. I had to come back a third time to get that fixed as well. Only good thing about this place is Matt. So after I had a potential $9,000 (not a typo) repair on my 2006 BMW 530Xi due to a massive water leak issue that BMW did not stand behind because it had the same design as a covered 2007 but was one year too old, the Service Manager was nice enough to suggest that I ask my insurance company pay for the repair. Progressive paid for the negotatiated $6,500 repair but I still had to pay $1,000 deductible. It was admittedly fixed well by Motorwerks. Then Motorwerks was nice enough to give me $120 in gift certificates for the huge repair job they got. I have long since dumped my two money-pit BMW's, (the other being a 2009 128i.) I wanted to get my Saab detailed with the gift certificates and made an appointment. It turns out, they don't even detail non-BMW's! I don't understand why. Are they that arrogant? I don't feel like ever setting foot in a BMW dealer again. read more

Took my 2012 X5 here for service due to seriously excessive oil consumption/leak. The Motorwerks dealer had my car for a full week and eventually told me very definitively that there was absolutely no chance of leaking or burning oil, and that was completely normal to use so much oil. I seriously questioned this as I'm putting in a quart of oil every month and they reassured me that it was normal and everything was perfectly fine and I drove away with a $600 bill for who knows what. Not content with that, I scheduled an appointment at BMW of Minnetonka. Not long after dropping the car off, I got a call that they found 2 major oil leaks and also that the car was leaking coolant. The technician said he would rate the severity of the oil leaks at a 9/10. One of which had dripped all over the alternator and was likely going to cause severe damage at any given point. He said he couldn't remember seeing a more obvious leak recently and was dumbfounded as to how it went undetected. As a loyal BMW customer, I have always been satisfied and impressed with the quality (not the price ) of work done at numerous BMW service centers across the country. I implore you NOT to take your car here for service, it is unlike any other BMW service center I've been to/ heard of. I still have no idea what this dealership did when I brought my car in, if anything but I completely understand the 2.5 stars. I would AVOID this place at all costs. read more

I bought another one for my new 2021 X3 for $3,699 and the car was totaled before I used the plan once. So I asked for a refund to put toward my next BMW. Apparently things have changed at Motorwerks. No Refund. I never used the plan, they provided no goods or services but will not refund my money. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and then Motorwerks said they would give me a free plan if I bought a new car. Well that was after three weeks of calling and writing them as well BMW North America. I had already bought a new car and definitely not fromm them after the experience I had.
