Very disappointing...  I have a 2025 Crosstrek.  And have been having some on-going issues. * My auto start doesn't seem to work consistently.  Seems to work once every 3-5 times I try to use it. * There is also a blown out/crackling speaker in the back of my SUV - makes a loud static noise when the volume is above 12. * I also am unable to open my trunk, oftentimes having to use a crowbar to open it.  I shouldn't have to break into my own car just to use it. * Also, When it is cold out the inside of my car gets frosted up.  So I am having to scrape the inside of my windows as well as the outside.  This should not be happening!  This is my first Subaru vehicle and this has not been a good experience at all!  I have paid a lot of money to Subaru, only to have a broken supposedly brand new vehicle.  What can be done about this?  I am not going to keep making payments on vehicle that has ongoing issues and IS supposed to be "brand new". The Minnessota Lemon law states: "The Minnesota lemon law covers new motorvehicles purchased or leased in Minnesota.The law covers passenger automobiles, aswell as pickup trucks and vans. The self propelled motor vehicle chassis or vanportion of a recreational vehicle is alsocovered. We worked with a few different employees of this business over a few days before purchasing a used vehicle. Everyone was very nice, forthcoming, and helpful. The only issue we had is that a few of the cars we'd seen online were no longer available when we went to view them - it would be good if those pending sale were marked as such to make shopping easier. Service quality has seriously deteriorated. I brought the car in for 48,000 mile service (oil change and tire rotation). The next day, I got a low tire pressure warning. Inspection revealed that pressures were incorrect, indicating they had not been checked. In addition, there was oil around the filter. Adding to that, the inspection revealed that the rear tire condition was "yellow", but it wasn't mentioned by the advisor. When I talked to Donovan, the Service Director, he indicated that they would look into the training. I responded that this was not training, anyone off the street would know better. He responded "Don't tell me who to hire!" and hung up. I recommend that any work done affecting safety be checked by another mechanic. read more

Bought our 2024 Crosstrek here and we come in regularly for scheduled maintenance. Staff is always friendly and service is quick.

They could start by having experienced and knowledgeable finance staff. When working with a lease or a buyout of a lease, the substitute finance guy(because our guy was off that day) had no idea what was going on, needed to go over the papers again, ask us a million of the same questions, and we already had a loan with another bank and check in hand. He then said the amount may be different and we may owe more $$ on the buyout. I said I am not paying any more, we got the financing and check in hand. If it's a problem we can come back another day and work with the same finance person we had just 5 days ago....this going in circles to get this buyout done is ridiculous and a waste of time I will never get back....please get someone knowledgeable to help in finance, please. I don't think we will ever work with this dealership again, ever. read more

Beware of this place! Long story, Short: We purchased a used Subaru that needed an engine replacement shortly after purchasing. They put a new engine in that didn't work, so they replaced it again. We didn't even get the car home because it broke down in the middle of an intersection The radiator hose blew off and they fixed it and said it was fine even though the car had over heated. they also told me the second engine they put in there had 30k less miles than what was on the vehicle. I ended up getting the Vin number off the engine and discovered they lied about how many miles were on the engine. I wouldn't purchase a vehicle or get my vehicle service by this dealership. read more

Beware of the White Bear Subaru service department. Last fall we had a very bad experience with them. Our transmission was acting up, so we took it in to check it out and were told that we needed to replace it for a cost of over $9,000 to us. They told us they didn't know when it would no longer function but gave us tips as to what to watch for. Shortly after that we found out elsewhere that Subaru had extended the warranty on the transmission and were obliged to replace it for free. We went back into the dealership with our new knowledge and they agreed to fix it. They didn't replace the transmission entirely, which was what they told us had to be done, but instead simply replaced the transfer clutch. That was covered by the extended warranty. We are shocked that the service person we worked with would try us to get us to pay over $9,000 out of our pocket when they were obliged to fix or replace the transmission for free. And he was comfortable letting us drive around with a faulty transmission, knowing that it could break down at any time. On top of that, he charged us for the initial diagnosis. I appealed to the manager and got that money back. We reported this incident to Subaru headquarters and got no satisfaction. We have since sold the car and will never buy another. Customer service here is very biased. I have been using their diagnostic service for over 5 years and it's very clear which demographic they favor and chose to prioritize. He was able to get everything done quickly and communicate very well via text to have him approve or decline a couple extra suggestions from the tech working on his car which he explained very well. They even give my puppy a super cute toy to enjoy while we waited. I highly recommend working with Jesse! There is also an awesome female parts advisor (I can't remember her name) who walked me through tire options for his vehicle over the phone yesterday. She gave me straightforward pricing and listened to what I was look for instead of just shoving the most expensive tires my way. I don't recall her name but she deserves major kudos for the assistance! I had called 5 other places before this dealer and they all sounded like they hated their job and didn't care to listen or provide any help over the phone. Her help is what made me drive 40 mins to service there! Flawless transition from parts to BDC service scheduling through the appointment. Awesome job Team White Bear Subaru! This is a comment both for this dealer and Subaru Corporate. Bought my 2019 Outback used in 2021, the car was great until around Oct of 2022, no issues before that. After Oct 2022, my battery started draining, dealer recommended a new battery, had that put in, but the battery kept draining, happened 2-3 more times, brought it back each time, was told I just did not drive it enough(my driving habits were no different than pre Oct 2022)bought a charger and jump starter. After the 2nd occurrence, I told them I thought the issue was the DCM. Was told that was not the issue, and it was my fault. Called Corporate, after much back-forth, they called the dealer to discuss, dealer said my driving habits were the issue, so nothing was done. Finally, a couple weeks later, got an email there was a recall for the DCM issue. Very disappointing Subaru put a customer through all this for a $800 dollar fix. Care is great again, same driving habits, but no more battery drain. Shame on you Subaru. read more

My car was making a noise while accelerating so I took it in. The dealership charged me $200 to diagnose my car. They got back to me and said both my rear wheel bearings are going bad, so I told them to replace it. $1,600.00 later I went to pick up my car and while driving, the SAME noise was still there.... Now they are telling me the tires are bad and that's where the noise is coming from. The tires being bad and making noise was not noted or mentioned in the first diagnose they made. They have no clue where the noise is coming from and just taking all my money playing the process of elimination hoping to find the problem. They didn't even show me my old worn out parts like most shops do. Makes me wonder if my wheel bearings were even bad..? read more

I bought an '84 mustang LX convertible from these guys. Overall good experience. Had to play hardball to get the price I wanted but that is car sales. Paid cash, was done with the transaction in about 40 minutes, and left with a full tank of gasoline! They even let me keep the sweet "collector" plates the previous owner left on my awesome car. Julius, the salesman - call him- even showed up at 8:50 AM when he normally works at 1pm to close my sale. He even sent extra photos of the underbody. FROM HIS CELL PHONE! That's dedication. Also, they will let you charge your iPhone while you wait! I will never forget the photographed moment, when after a seven and a half hour, three bus journey, I saw my stang.... Bear in mind there was a storm the night before. When the sale closed my car was warmed and the ice cleaned. It runs great and for the price I paid, I feel great about my purchase! NEED A CAR? I trust the quality of mechanical work that is done here, but their customer service is seriously lacking. Most recent example, my wife went in for an oil change and waits on site. She hears many names being called, but never hers. Almost three hours she goes up and it turns out they were calling my name not hers to tell her it was ready (I have never set foot in this dealership except to buy the car nearly four years ago). That's a pretty major gaffe to make, and to not even try to look for the person - to just keep calling their name - is laziness in the extreme. They ended up moving it outside as it had taken so long, and they parked it such that the front bumper was hooked onto the curb, and my wife reported she had to give it some gas to get un-hung up. And now the car rattles as a result. Didn't rattle before this. We're going to look elsewhere I think for future service. Do not recommend. read more

The White Bear Subaru dealership has been remodeled. It's next door to the Acura dealership and it seems like they have spun off being a different entity. Amazing design. They have free WiFi nice coffee and refreshments. The design of the lounge area is amazing. They have quiet space for work and other comfy couches to relax. As I am waiting on my car to be serviced I am extremely impressed. They've built new service counters and lanes. Getting in was a little confusing as they don't too many clear signs. I think some of this redesign will also precipitate Into customers paying more. But let's see. read more

She was super attentive, sincere, and patient as we asked questions and walked around the lot. She was transparent that she was new to the sales team and was still learning. That did not stop her from getting our questions answered. If she didn't know something, she would say so, and then find out. We appreciated the honesty! Though she is new, Marilyn is great. Awesome new building Subaru has. I'm impressed with how updated and great the showroom floor is. Lots of space on the inside-- very spacious. I liked the sitting area for customers. There were plenty of refreshments and snacks for customers. In addition to that, there were several TVs so that customers can watch whatever they wanted. Lots of charging areas as well! Marilyn Babcock was an awesome saleswomen! She really took care of us and didn't make us feel pressured into buying a car. She was with us every step of the way and was very attentive. My purchasing gripe came in when we waited 1.5 hours just to see the finance guy. It wasn't busy, but we just sat there forever waiting to get in. Part two Service: (Note that this is the only service I really attempted at WBS so far) I accidentally drained the Trans/CVT fluid instead of the engine oil on the Outback I bought from them. After researching, it appears the dealer needs to fill it (no filler or dipstick for the trans--why?) so I called WBS to see about getting it filled and when I could get it towed in. They said I could come in, but it would be like "$450 to fill and re-program it"....ummmm waaaaaaaa? $450 to fill a transmission with oil?....$#@$#@ no. I called a competitor dealer, who did it for $200 (I know the fluid is expensive....but not $450 expensive..) Would I buy here again? Probably. But I will shop around. read more

I brought my Outback in for service this morning. The entire service experience was great. But, no less than 3 sales guys were walking around without masks. One of them was the sales manager. The governor ordered a mandatory mask requirement today and every single customer complied. Too bad the sales guys don't extend the same courtesy and concern for health that their customers do. I am anti-car shopping. So anti-car shopping, in fact, that the last time I needed a new car, I paid someone else to do all the research, negotiations, etc, and deliver it to me. Easy peasy. Sadly, that car was totalled recently at the ripe young age of 120k miles. I knew I wanted a Subaru, so took a quick test-run to the three Subaru dealerships in the area. This was by far the one that suited me best. The lot was organized, the salesmen were friendly and helpful and i didn't feel any pressure. I worked with Sam B. He was very helpful - he answered my questions knowledgably. I didn't feel like he was trying to 'upsell' me or confuse me. When I was debating used versus new, he didn't pressure me into one or the other. He was very open about the cost of the various used and new cars, which made comparison shopping easier. I came in many times over a two month period, and when I was finally ready to purchase, the process was quite easy. He fully explained the vehicle before I left the lot. The finance guy was a little pushy (but most are, from what I hear). The lounge is sadly lacking. Coffee, tea, and water. A few magazines, and a small tv (which might not get cable). Closed on Sundays (as are all car dealerships in MN), open til 9 most weeknights. Saturdays are quite crowded. All in all, a good experience. read more

I've been a Subaru driver for 14 years now. I've gotten most of them from this dealership. I've had my ups and downs with this dealership. My most recent experience has been buying a Crosstrek XV. I test drove the one they had on the lot and basically ordered it on the internet. That was good because I could customize it the way I wanted it. However I had to wait 2 months for it to show up. I would say the dealerships communication is spotty. Arrival times are estimates, so don't make hard plans to pick it up on the day it arrives. The service otherwise was good. The sales men are very friendly and they have the buying process down. The financing guy was awesome and super friendly as well. The only draw back for me is that I have to drive 15 minutes to this location as there isn't one closer. At least I'll be driving there in a car I like now. read more

Prices for labor are lower than most other dealers I've been too, and I was really happy with the level of communication throughout. My girlfriend and I were both interested in a Subaru at the beginning of July. At the time, they were offering a $35 visa gift card for test driving a Subaru. After test driving the cars on July 3rd, we asked our salesperson to redeem the offer. He told us to send him the e-mail and he would get the gift cards to us. A day had gone by and we had received nothing. On July 4th, I emailed him to ask about the status of the gift cards. I received no response. The next week, my girlfriend emailed him asking the same question. She received no response. On July 24th, I reached out to the dealership's customer care e-mail and asked about the gift cards. I received no response. I tried again on August 4th and have yet to receive a response. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed with this dealership as they have not followed through with their promotion, and more importantly, have failed to respond to customer questions/requests. read more

This dealership is a very special place! My husband and I both got our cars from this dealership and I have to admit I was incredibly impressed with the quality of customer service and genuinely nice people we worked with. Mike Akright worked with me to get the perfect winter car and he was incredible! We recently moved to Minnesota and I had to learn the hard way that California cars with great mileage are useless against a foot of snow in the road. I quickly learned that I was going to need a car with the height to get over this new bounty of snow, but I was used to driving a car with a little more zip and maneuverability. I had trouble identifying those qualities at first, but Mike was so patient as he let me test drive a wide variety of cars through unplowed parking lots to the freeway for most of the day. He was great at narrowing down what I liked with what I needed and I ended up with a beautiful red Forester with a turbo engine--with height, comfort, safety, visibility, and plenty of get and go! Mike ended up calling dealerships from all across the country trying to find the model and color I liked. He went above and beyond the requirements of his job. Mike also helped my husband with his Subaru Outback--he even called all the surrounding dealerships to be able to guarantee the best price for us. I was truly impressed by that kind of legwork and I felt confident for the first time car-shopping that we had received the best price and service that was possible. Some things I loved about working with the people at this Subaru: - Everyone talked to me and sold my future car to me instead of my husband (Yes that still happens, trust me! But it doesn't happen here!) - I was treated with respect and given a lot of helpful information to help me make the best decision -they worked hard to make sure I got the best deal -HONESTY--everyone here just told the truth, which is a rare find with car dealerships these days! I look forward to getting my new car serviced here, because I am confident I will get quality service with awesome people. How can you go wrong with that dynamic duo?
