I love a great french bakery and the reviews were 4stars. The menu had some interesting choices on it for lunch however, I opted for the special quiche of the day which was bacon and mushroom. It was served with a generous side salad and fabulous vinaigrette dressing. The portion of quiche was generous and so was the salad, however I was slightly disappointed in the atmosphere in there it felt more like a cafeteria than it did a cozy French bistro. There are some great looking desserts in the front case however I was full from lunch so I didn't try anything. Always leave something for next time they say... I'll be back to give it a try again. read more

Really 4 1/2 stars. The first thing you notice is that it's a pretty crappy (I could use another word but that's only good on the Pat MacAfee show) shopping center/Strip mall. However that all changes when you go inside. Very nice place. Open with comfortable seating. Nice deco. Very French! Nice people working there and they're very fast. We got Cappuccino and a Latte with Oat-milk. Both coffees were very good and hot. Got a couple of croissants that were warm and flaky and buttery. Good place and I'd highly recommend it. read more

I was so excited to try Moulin Blanc cafe via the 2Good2Go app. I paid just under $8 for a "Surprise Bag" I arrived and no one was at the counter. There were a couple people that looked like they were perhaps family sitting on the sofas- they made no attempt to greet me or help me get service. I could hear someone washing up in the back and hit the bell. After a couple minutes the server came to the counter and I explained I was there for the 2good2go and it was my first time trying this - I was excited to try some of their items and I would definitely come back for drinks and a pastry in the future. Well - the surprise bag was one dry, small apple strudel like item and I got to pick 1 item from the specialty case . I asked her what her favorite was and she recommended the chocolate eclair. Both pastries were past prime and very mid. For the 6 mile drive to pick up and almost $8 I got 2 small dry pastries. I told her I wouldn't ever waste my time on that again. I absolutely love this café! The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing, the food is delicious. I especially love their flatbeds, salads and quiches as well as all the coffees . The café is set up with comfortable chairs/living rooms as well as standard tables where people can either mingle or stay to themselves. If you want fresh pastries, don't come here. My friend and I are in Florida for three weeks, and she was craving a Napoleon. We found this place and drove a half hour to get where we assumed, and rightly so, that a French Bakery would have fresh baked goods. Not so with this place. For $9 each, we got two Napoleons. So $18, plus tax for two pastries. They were hard, not flakey. The custard was rubbery. The frosting was breaking apart and dry. They tasted old. Neither of us ate them after a couple bites. In the garbage they went. I went up and asked the girls working there if they had been made today. No, they had been purchased from a different bakery, frozen, and thawed out. This is not a bakery. It's an overpriced food recycler. They asked if it was bad. I told them how awful it was. They said that maybe they needed to go back to their old supplier. Seriously?? Maybe they should actually try baking something. I mean, it is a bakery. They offered no refund. Stay away unless you like throwing your hard earned money away on frozen, stale, pre-packaged food. REPLY TO YOUR REPLY: First, I was unaware of the policy you mentioned and have removed the other business name. I just thought I would let people know that there definitely IS another place in Venice to get a Napoleon. My friend and I purchased two of them at the other business the very same day we threw yours in the garbage. Second, I have no problem paying the amount you charge, if the item is a quality product. The problem was paying that price (or any price) for something dry, stale, and rubbery. We made a special trip to Venice from Englewood to purchase Napoleons, not as far as Fort Myers, but still out of our way. I truly think you're missing the point of my review, which was our PERSONAL experience, the one and only time we tried your product. I wasn't writing about all of the other times your Napoleons were supposedly incredible. My review is only about the day my friend and I each purchased them from your store. Maybe every other Napoleon you have ever sold is worthy of a Michelin Star, although it seems unlikely, but ours were horrible. Next, two of your own employees told me your Napoleons were made somewhere else, frozen, and thawed out for your "bakery." Were they just making that up? Were they also making up the part about how you should maybe switch back to your other supplier? Seems unlikely. Your lengthy reply read like an advertisement for your business. It did not address the issues this customer had. If your Napoleons are all you say they are, maybe by some fluke, we ended up there the one and only time they were inedible. You could have tried to make it right with us. You could have offered us a gift certificate to try them the next time we are in the area, so we could experience what you say everyone else experiences. Your employees could have been trained better and known what they should do if customers say the food they purchased was horrible and worthy of the garbage can. I politely asked if the items were made that day, and they filled me in on how things are done there. I told them the details of our experience and about how we threw them away. No offer of a refund, and I didn't ask. Buyer beware, I guess. You say in your reply that you would prefer to keep our discussion focused on "our own experience with you" rather than comparisons. You were given a clear explanation of our experience and all but ignored it in your reply. At the end you say you "regret that our visit didn't meet our expectations." My review was honest. It was what two adults with realistic expectations experienced with the only purchase ever made at your establishment. I have nothing else to go on. In addition, you are not the only provider of Napoleons in the county, as you claim. You're not even the only provider of Napoleons in Venice. read more

My boyfriend and I had a very enjoyable experience there. I enjoyed Le G.O.A.T., a delectable combination of goat cheese, prosciutto, arugula, tomatoes, and avocado on a fresh croissant, paired with a side salad. The croissant was incredibly good, buttery, and flaky and the prosciutto was on point. My boyfriend had Le Salmon, featuring smoked salmon, avocado, cream cheese, dill, capers, arugula, and a dash of lemon juice on a fresh croissant, accompanied by fresh fruit. It was equally delicious. For drinks, I had the Cirque, a refreshing blend of mango, passion fruit, and citrus, while my boyfriend had the French Kiss, which combines passion fruit with hints of rose and lemon. Though I didn't try his, mine was absolutely delightful. To satisfy our sweet tooth, we shared a pastry--a twisty delight filled with cream and chocolate chips. It was wonderfully delicate and delicious. The staff at Moulin Blanc Café were friendly, polite, and helpful, adding to the overall pleasant experience. The mushroom quiche at Moulin Blanc is excellent. I also enjoyed the large selection of coffee flavors. Shawna was very friendly and accommodating to our group that had a baby present. There are plenty of tables and comfortable chairs to sit in. The atmosphere is casual. It's good to go there with family for an authentic French breakfast. read more

Went to the slow French café for breakfast today thinking that they had crêpes because if you look at yelp on their menu, they say crêpes, but when I inquired as to why they said crêpes and didn't have them, the young lady told me they were a type of cookie that they used to have that they don't have anymore Well, strange, but I ordered a salmon sandwich which they served not on a bagel, but on French bread, which was just OK there wasn't much salmon on. It was mostly bread. Then I ordered a coffee eclair which I had with my coffee and it was delicious and then the young lady who owns the Restaurant told me that their stuff was baked in France flowing in and then they re-baked it we'll go back just for sweets and coffee. Once again the Birdbay Plaza on the 41 Bypass in Venice, FL has yet another great dining experience. My wife and I stopped in to Moulin Blanc Cafe for the first time today. Right away when we walked it we noticed how clean and charming the cafe was. Plenty of small tables to sit at plus several small areas where you can sit with your friends and enjoy your dining and friendly conversation. We both ordered one of their fresh made in-house quiches. I had the quiche Lorraine and my wife had the quiche of the day which was mushroom and truffle. Both were excellent and very light and fluffy with a tender pastry crust. We also both had a cappuccino with orange flavor added. I though it was quite tasty but my wife found it a bit to bitter for her taste. When she spoke to the lady behind the counter she was given a fresh cup of coffee, at no charge. When in the area, or make a special trip, be sure to stop into Moulin Blanc Cafe. You will be happy you did. Oh and one more point that I feel is important is that their washroom was very clean and well supplied.. read more

Heard through the grapevine it was good . However I always have to check it out for ourselves because tastes vary so much. What some call good is average etc. On that note the atmosphere; it's a large resturant space and the appearance is more like a self service cafeteria .with tables & metal chairs . We ordered two cappuccinos, two pastries and two quiches. The quiche was outstanding Cappuccino was good but not impressed at all with either pastry . We've been to Paris many time and my expectations were to relive that fond memory . Also the pastries are displayed on an open counter and are not covered or under glass, but displayed in the open air . Sorry but in today's environment, it just doesn't sit well with me. Recommend they should have a clear glass cake style cover to prevent any contamination and keep them fresher Service was good the girls were extremely pleasant . Wow! We walked in and were surprised at the charming decor and individual seating areas, so cute!! It's next to the Advanced Auto parts store and looks are deceiving it's fabulous inside! The coffee was delicious and the pastries amazing!!!! We will for sure come back for lunch. We came close to closing in the early afternoon and did not have time for lunch. The girl who took care of us was friendly and helpful and made sure to tell us that the pastries are flown in from France once a week and cooked in house. So good!!! I am so happy to find this Authentic French Bakery! I have been to many in the area and I would rate Moulin Blanc my favorite in croissants, quiche, coffee and desserts! Sam the manager was absolutely friendly and told all about the pastries and company. It was my Aunts birthday today so they made extra special attention to packaging and just took so much thought. I will be back and this is absolutely going to be my go to for French pastries baguettes and desserts in the area. The croissants and pastries are absolutely to die for here at Moulin Blanc. I love it! I can't wait to try more things next time!!! P.S. those who complain about high prices don't understand the high cost of a small business owner and the true cost of quality goods. You can get to a big box Dunkin' Donuts and buy a croissant that was made in a warehouse that doesn't taste nearly as good for $2.99 or you can pay $3.99 for an amazing excellent tasting croissant and support a local business. I was excited to try the assortment of French offerings at Moulin Blanc Cafe. I went at around 11am on Saturday and purchased a croissant, Ham and Cheese Quiche, and raisin pastry to go. The side salad that came with the quiche was the best part of my order, even though I was least excited about it. The quiche was very heavy on the cheese which is great if you are an absolute cheese lover. It was good, but I prefer the more egg over cheese quiche. I couldn't enjoy the crust due to the abundance of cheese flavor. The croissant, which I heated up in the toaster and used to make a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich was a little underwhelming. It was still fresh the next morning, but lacked something. The raisin pastry was good and I would get it again. Maybe I had too high of standards based on other reviews, but I was not overwhelmed. This is not to say that others should not try and enjoy Moulin Blanc's offerings. The service was friendly and efficient and it was a clean and open dining area. read more

We were the only customers in the cafe. We placed our orders and then sat at a table anxious for lunch! I received a 4" diameter grilled roll? BREAD ? That was very tasty! Inside there were 3 small narrow sliver like slices of ham!!!! Asked for no cheese) Just enough to almost cover the roll ... ONE THIN LAYER OF HAM- but it didn't cover the bread . That was my $12 treat.... Yes it was delicious... but it didn't encourage me to ever return. (nothing attractive about the serving) Our wait person was pleasant as she explained that is how the sandwich is made!... now that I've spoken to friends they also felt the portions were small and no plate appeal! Best croisants and coffee I have had in Venice! Their coffee beans are from France, and my latte was so good it didn't need anything added to it. The pastries are made in France, flash frozen, and then shipped here - I had a chocolate croissant with Nutella, and they had sparkling Evian in glass bottles instead of the stupid plastic that covers America - the woman that was working at the counter is married to a French guy and they actually had popular French music - little things add up to a perfect laid back breakfast after my work out this morning.
