I love just wandering the store, seeking out new products and items. There is everything from fresh to frozen, canned, homeopathic medicine, soaps, and lotions. Most stores I enter have very few items I can eat. But here there are a lot of snacks, sweet items, drinks, and even packaged items such as chips. I adore that they carry a variety of flours, nut flours, gluten-free, cassava, tapioca, as well as others. The store always smells clean. In the wintertime, there is a smell of ginger. The employees are always courteous and knowledgeable. The only con is that they do not have a store in Sparks. Best tip: Don't forget to bring your own grocery bags or cooler. I bring a cooler in the summertime. Always pack more bags than you think you will need.

However, I had a hard time with getting anyone to help me get the cake at the cake department. There were 3 people working, all three would look at me and not help me. I waited probably about 10 minutes just to be helped which was strange. Once I was finally acknowledged, they couldn't find my cake and I was so worried it was missing. But eventually they did find it... seemed a bit disorganized. Also, I went to buy the rest of my groceries for the party and bought three bottles of cranberry juice. Once I got home, I realized they were three months expired. Yikes. I threw them out.

Mostly there are rolls packaged like a California roll for about $9.50 for 12 pieces. The fancier rolls cost more, like ones with tuna or crystal shrimp and other toppings. But they also offer nigiri pieces in a bigger package with one roll, for like $15. The prices are about what you might pay at a sushi bar ala carte. The quality is pretty good, good as any sushi bar in town at least. This sushi is waaay better than the pre packaged stuff at like Trader Joe's or Costco. Pro tip, fresh sushi does NOT keep for long, so eat it the same day, otherwise it might get dried out. Good to have a fresh made sushi choice right here at the Save mart! If you don't see what you want, just ask and they chef will make it for you! Each box has wasabi and ginger as well as soy sauce included!

However, on the other side of McCarran, the Canyon Center plaza has Dollar Tree, Silver Chopsticks, a rare-for-Reno Chase Bank branch, and a Save Mart, among other provocative businesses, like, for instance, Flowing Tide Pub #7. Safeway gave me a harsh vibe during the Covid daze, especially from cashiers and front staff, so Save Mart got the nod. It's a well-maintained market, good produce and meat selection, sporadic surprise discounts on eggs, great bargains on weekly-ad items, and personable, mellow staff. Conversely, the service deli strikes me as small and lackluster. Plotted between 7th Street and Mae Anne on the northbound side of the west McCarran loop, and a hop-skip-jump from the USPS Washington station and I-80, this market screams, "LOCATION X3!"

Hopefully, management…read morereads this and wants more details, because this has not been the welcoming experience I have had at other locations. To sum it up - horrible communication skills and lack of understanding. Just before 3pm on 01/23/2026, I called to speak with someone about partnering with an organization to host a community event. At other Savemart locations it, the store managers have been the point of contact, and I have had positive experiences. They put me on hold to speak with their manager, and when they came back on line, they literally shouted "KEYSTONE ONLY" and hung up the phone before I could respond. I thought I was accidentally disconnected so I called right back. The same person answered... she gave no hello - there was no "Thanks for calling Savemart". She said "You're the one with the _______?" I corrected her and said, "No, that is something entirely different," and took 10 seconds to explained what it was again. She did not hear what I said, cut me off, and said "my manager said Keystone only!" Again, she didn't wait for me to get off the phone and hung up the phone on her last breath. Needless to say, I'm not calling back today.
