So there is not a time that I go into this store and I find expired food products. With times being difficult and groceries costing twice as much I do not want to get all the way home after spending $50 on 5 items only to find out something is expired. I also should not have to spend extra time checking expiration dates on everything I touch. A month ago the honey ham was $9.99! Now that same honey ham a month later is on sale for $3.47 probably because it's been a month and no one is buying. The first one I picked up expired 4/27/25. This store is terrible. Buy 2 cases of soda and get 1 free. When I checked out, I was charged full price for all 3. When I asked about not getting my discount, I was asked if I had the digital coupon. I did not, nor was I aware of it. The tag at the soda shelf had no mention of a coupon, only the buy 2, get 1 free. The cashier did not believe me and had to go and check it out herself. I was correct and she was confused at why it didn't have the "digital coupon" notice. 10 mins later I was waiting for my refund. Go to Smiths. Much better! read more

This particular one absolutely miserable. Carla and Martha need to figure out why their attitudes suck. My son.is special needs (non verbal) so he tends to scream when he doesn't like something. This store tends to decorate the whole store with balloons which son loves as would any other child. I usually get him a balloon very single time I go to this store. The moment we walked in the Martha was making comments about my son grabbing the balloons even telling me to put them back. Two times I tried to explain he's special needs and she refused to listen and continued to talk over me. When I asked the cashier (Carla) for store manager information she was reluctant to answer my question. She would not give me Martha's name as well. I got her name (Carla) because I looked at her tag as she was ringing up my items and advised her she will also be included in my complaint. Extremely rude woman working the checkout the evening of 7/7/25. Sales slip says Ronalyn L. Got upset when I asked for a bag for my drinks, was rude about my phone number not being in the system, told me to call the number on the bottom of my receipt to reinstate my rewards because if you don't shop there for a while they drop off. When I did call the number the person was also rude and said that never happens. I said thank you to her after I paid, and as I walked away she called me a stupid idiot under her breath, but loud enough for me to hear. Really? No need for that! The prices here are not that great! Next time I will just drive on by and go to Raley's at least they are polite! read more

In my ongoing effort to try new things I've discovered a quaint little grocer called Save Mart. It's not the cleanest place and the building is a bit dilapidated. The floors and some of the displays are dirty and abused over years of use. However, they do have a very large parking lot and a modest crowd. Conveniently located on the southbound 395 north of 50. One thing I really dig is a store that flows from left to right, like this one. Popular chain retailers flow right to left like a racetrack. That actually throws off my feng shui and drains my energy. Many of the everyday bargains are priced cheaper than anywhere in the neighborhood, beware, some items are right in line or more expensive. Be that savvy shopper and don't be fooled. They do have sale prices, specials and all the basic items you'd expect your grocer to carry. The produce appears to be very fresh and well organized. It's a smaller area so the volume suffers, but the selection is just as varied as any place else. They have a massive array of beer and wine and some really odd brand names tucked in the isles. Everyone I spoke with was very pleasant and laid back. More so than my usual grocery store or wholesaler where I often get rammed by at least one frantic hipster looking to "make time" under the guise that "time is money" or "don't you realize who I am." But I digress. For me this was a nice leisurely recharge as I restocked the family foodstuffs. Ignore what your buddies tell you and devote one hour to Save Mart. Snag a bascart and relax as you flow through the store. You might just like it. Change can be therapeutic. read more

I have been going to this store for decades and last night I went in to get a couple of items around 7:00. I was the only one in the checkout line at first and the cashier named Merie acted like she was not happy to wait on me at all. No greeting me or even looking at me. I said hello, no response, she quickly rang up my 2 items, bagged them and put the bag in front of me and said "you're done!" No questions like "did you find everything you were shopping for?" Or even a "thank you". Her tone and her demeanor was like she was upset to have to ring up my transaction. I asked another employee as I left the store who the manager on duty was and she said that "Momo" was, and she looked over to the cashier that just checked me out. I confirmed with her that in fact I was waited on by the acting manager of the store. I'm hoping this was just a "one off" situation, because I have never had such a negative experience at this store. read more

Went to get a few items for a birthday party and only one checkout lane open. Cashier scanned the person in front of me their groceries and also mine together, they paid for both our groceries. Once the clerk realized their mistake they got the other customer back The manager was called and they took my groceries and I was stuck waiting to get my food, wasting my time for the clerks mistake while other customers behind me were checked out fast I was not given any apology. read more

Compared to many other grocery stores, Save Mart is one of the cleaner and quieter ones. Sure, prices are a bit higher than Smith's or Walmart, but you can often find things here that you cannot at other stores. They also care about their employees and customers - not rushed like other grocery stores. read more

Entire meat section is rotten. Don't be fooled by a container that has a nice red piece on top, you'll find everything underneath it is brown and gray and rotting. Absolutely disgusting and inedible. Manager has a bad attitude and uses profanities at paying customers. Don't waste your time or money, go somewhere else. I've contacted corporate with my dissatisfactions so hopefully something changes - but I won't be back to see if it does. I sincerely this location closes and something better replaces it. read more

Carson City stores especially North are fantastic.

I have been in this store several times now over the last couple of months and every time the people working there have been friendly, helpful and a genuine delight to be around! It is such a great change from so many of the places in town. The store isn't perfect however, they are doing a great job. The place is clean and well stocked (without expired things out). Every time I've gone in, at least one employee on the floor smiles, says hello and offers assistance. It's wonderful to be treated so well! read more

I recently needed some party trays for an event in my home. My go-to has always been another store, but this time, I thought I would try Save Mart. The online ordering process was easy - and you could customize the items - a bonus! I called the morning I was to pick-up to confirm everything and the deli employee rattled off my order immediately. I picked up at the designated time and everything was ready, accurate and pleasantly presented. The employee helping me out was also super friendly. Don't get me wrong, every cashier and just about every employee there has been nothing but nice to me. The cashiers and other floor staff are fantastic. Except when you get to the pharmacy. Every time I go there to pick up my medication, they're either very bored looking or overall just appear to not want to be there. It's mild, but I get the impression that they think I'm stupid. As predicted, Gayle's Mom had pretty much arranged the food supply for our Family Thanksgiving Feast. However, there were a few last minute items, of which Gayle and I immediately volunteered to brave the US 395 Corridor to obtain. My Mother-In-Law likes this store for its selection and nice folks, although she points out that they're not always price competitive. I found this Save Mart to be OK. We bought what we were looking for, although I found the dual aisle system to be a bit confusing. I'm also thinking that this store is about due for a remodel. There are no self checkout stations, but so what. Their glitches seem to slow me down between missed scans, not putting the item in the right place, and poorly considered queue control. During our visit, the Checker and Bagger were friendly enough, and it was pleasant to share a little holiday cheer with fellow human beings rather than a scanner. read more

Place was not at all busy for a weekend afternoon. The store was clean and prices were reasonable on the items we purchased. They have a nice selection of chilled beer but their standard cold drink selection was a bit lacking. The staff we interacted with were friendly and the lines were not too long. The store is nicely located with access from 395 southbound or a side street with a signal to make getting in and out of the lot a breeze. And for once, they accept ApplePay. I love this store except for when I have to visit in the evening. The "manager" is very rude. I stood there in line this evening while she was wasting my time chatting with a customer. She usually does this when the store employees are going through her line and she wants to catch up with them. This evening in particular, I was in need of bandaids for my finger. I stood there and wondered if I was about to get blood on the floor because she was being so slow. I placed my little box of bandaids on the counter for her to scan and she had a nasty comment for me. She told me that if I was going to continue to have an attitude (because remember by the time it's my turn she's already wasted a lot of my time by chatting with the person in front of me) I wasn't allowed in the store anymore. . . fair enough. To make matter's worse, she said "hallelujah" on my way out the store and then talked about me in a loud whisper to the customer behind me. I will be shopping elsewhere because even though I may have been unprofessional (my finger f*****ing hurts) she didn't have to be 1) nasty to me when it was my turn 2) didn't have to treat me badly 3) talk about me to the next customer in line badly. BTW, this store got fined for not enforcing masks during COVID even after our governor mandated them. For that reason, even though they have an employee sitting there policing people now, I'm not going to risk getting sick by people who don't have to wear a mask after they make it past the "mask police". read more

Typical grocery store, except that they have slot machines, which I'm not used to seeing in a grocery store since I'm from California. It was nice and clean inside and pretty well stocked. They only had one cashier, which was okay since it was not busy at all. I got distracted by the slot machines and since I was not going to play at the casinos (because inhaling all that smoke is not good for me) I decided to play a few games. I played $1 ... I use Apple Pay everywhere I can. I do not always carry any CC's. Their Apple Pay comes and goes. The last time I had $90 in groceries and Apple Pay was not working AGAIN. So they had to put it all back. I will be going back to Albertson's and Trader Joe's, never a problem there. read more

Bought Prime Rib Roast 43Angus to go along with our Thanksgiving dinner for those that hate turkey. I'm a pretty darned good cook and babied this thing for two days with it's rub and did the perfect roast to rare/medium rare. It was tough as nails even thought it rested nicely for half an hour to re-absorb its juices. I should have paid the extra $2.00 a pound and bought it at Raleys.
