I can't tell you what the right choice is for you or for someone you care about, but I do know that I would not have made it through the nearly three years my dad was there without the concierges. They seemed to be the only ones who were consistently there. They knew who I was, they greeted me by name, they knew who I came to see and whether my dad had eaten, whether he had received his newspaper, whether he headed back to his room. They knew who to contact to resolve issues I was having. Simply they were THERE--dependable and friendly and so caring. There were many issues. I won't lie. It's my understanding that many many similar places have similar issues with turnover. Constant staff turnovers, especially multiple directors who came and went often--too busy to answer questions or care who I was, who my dad was, to return calls, to address my concerns. This place, like many others, is a corporate operation. It became my job to get to know the people who were caring for my dad. There were some constant caregivers and nurses that I Iooked for. What a relief to walk in and find someone who I knew, who knew me, and most importantly, knew my dad and cared about him. That's an incredible thing. Essentially, it's a stress-reducer and a life-saving thing. The concierge team and a handful of regular caregivers and nurses not only made my father's last years better but also kept me sane. My suggestion when you visit places for your family member, take note of the people who seem genuine (not the ones who are pitching the place). They are the ones who will matter. Look for heart. I can't really rate the place now, but I'm grateful for the people I met there who made the place a home.

The staff is generally nice but overworked. Several slips in care occurred but one was unacceptable and caused me long term problems. One night my Dad needed help going to the bathroom and no one came. After 3 hours, he couldn't hold it anymore and wet himself in the bed. When the morning staff came in, he was wallowing in pee. The experience was obviously humiliating. Devastating to his long term care needs, he now refuses to be " put in a home" and will only return to his house. He will not even consider places outside The Moorings.

Like anyone else, I headed straight to hospital when my uncle got hurt or sick. Hospitals having to…read morecare for so many people and wait times, it was hard. It was even tougher when I was out of town. I've always felt sorry to my uncle since I couldn't be there for him, when he needed me the most. While trying to find alternative ways to take care of my uncle, I found this home healthcare service called, 'Primus.' I was skeptical at first since it's not me who's taking care of it, it's a 'service.' I've met John, manager of Primus, and Diane, the care giver, to discuss how my uncle will be taken care of... It looked simple on paper, but the 'real' services that they provide, it was better than expected. I couldn't tell the difference at first but a week or two later, I saw it. My uncle's got healthier and happier. What I wanted for my uncle, Diane and Primus team took care of it. I'm looking forward to how well my uncle will be. I'll write more later...

My grandmother has lived here for over a year due to her new diagnosis of dementia, There have been…read moreso many issues that we continue to deal with as a family! This facility does not make their elderly clients a priority, and it is very clear as to how it is ran! We almost had a med error as they have a patient at their facility with a similar last name and if family wasn't paying attention, she would have been given the wrong medication! We continue to have to call the facility to ensure that she is being showered, her laundry is being washed, and her room is cleaned appropriately! Of late, the biggest issue has been the facility being infested with big bugs, It took them over 48 hours to address while my grandmother slept on her couch because her mattress was covered in bedbugs and they told us there was no other place to relocate her to, So we took her out of the facility for four weeks so they could deal with the issue. After several emails and phone calls, because they do not do as they say they are going to do, they finally got her a new apartment and did not even bother to move all of her things. Our family had to take on the burden of moving her once again! We asked for financial compensation for the four weeks that she was not there at the facility and still have not gotten an answer and that has been over two months ago! We continue to be unhappy with this facility as they do not make their residence a priority. I do not recommend this facility to anyone for their elderly loved ones!

My mother-in-law moved into Asbury Court with her husband, she suffered from dementia. Good for him…read morebecause he is reasonably self-sufficient, but not so good for her. From what I observed Asbury Court is not well equipped to help elders who are in need of special care and especially those with dementia. Public Medicare assisted elder care care suffers from under staffing, low pay and unqualified caregivers who are not properly trained. Asbury Court is no exception. Their website lists memory care, please do not be fooled. The only memory care that I witnessed was over medication to be placed in a docile and non-functional state of mind and body. While some attendants are kind and empathetic at Asbury Court, many lack the skills and motivation to deal with difficult cases like my mother-in-law and her family members. Is there a better public funded facility out there for elders who suffer from dementia? I hope so, and maybe you can find one! Our baby boomer population generation is fueling a 75% increase in the number of people age 65 and older requiring nursing home care.

Guests are welcome to join for dinner at a low cost and the food was delicious. Many thanks to Erin, Peg and Marika (in the dining room) for an awesome stay. I have visited many places over the years with various family members in care situations and this is top notch! We also used the care provided from Elara and the PT/OT's at Chirch Creek, both companies provided great care.

Caring for seniors in a living community can be a mix of both blessing and frustrations…read more Church Creek is clean and organized and provides a lot of activities for the independent seniors. Not every community is perfect. I can only speak fairly to the goodness that exists there. When physical troubles get severe, needs get severe and demands rise. Each hurting patient wants care, pain relief and hope. I don't know how the nurses are graded at this facility but let's give them the benefit of the doubt.

This facility stole money from my mother. They are bankrupt. My mom left in December of 2018 and…read morewas owed a $3000 refund. After several calls the company(The LaSalle group) kept on pushing the refund down the road until they filed for bankruptcy in May 2019. The food was poor. It makes you wonder how staff morale is and lack of funding for care is. I am so happy we left after only 2.5 months. Look for another place that is financially stable.

Residents enjoy many opportunities to socialize through special interest groups (Book Club, Theatre Club, etc.) and physical fitness activities (Walking Club and morning exercise). I have only the highest of praise for the front office staff/receptionists, Mayra, Brittany, Emily and others, who are truly at the heart of this facility. Their willingness to give of their time and attention, while remaining infinitely patient, is remarkable. The level of care provided by the Certified Nursing Assistants is exceptional. While occasional staffing issues occur, i.e., delays in dispensing medications, they are resolved quickly. Keeping over 100 residents satisfied with their meal service is a challenge, but a recent change at the Head Chef position seems to be a good first step towards improving the quality and variety of food offered. Overall, Plum Creek Supportive Living is a facility that provides those age 65+ with a safe and active environment.

Talked to Carrie the nurse on Saturday of also advised our grandmother could not leave her apt., again not true. The administrator is gone before 2pm everyday and has a lot of family emergency's so don't bother trying to get a hold of her. The only good thing about the facility is my grandmother's apt., other than that the facility is run down, short staffed, poor food and the nurses are unfriendly or helpful. For the money they charge take your loved one elsewhere.

My mom was at a nursing home, journey was the hospice company. I arrived Tuesday from out of town…read moreas my mom was about to pass. Hospice nurse popped in for literally 4 minutes. We went Wednesday and nursing home said she was already there. We went first thing in the morning Thursday so we would be there. She never showed up. Nursing home kept calling her and they kept saying she was "en route." After 2 more hours of waiting, we had to leave at 8pm. My mom is getting ready to pass in next few hours most likely. But we won't know her actual condition because hospice never showed. Horrible.
