Today the 2:00p activity was beach volleyball then there was to be a 3:00pm activity. No one had shown up for activities. This is pretty usual. Today's staff is less than ambitious and did nothing with the residents. It is 85 today when I got to my dad he was dressed in fleece lined pants and a long sleeve shirt. The unit itself is very hot. The Memory Care garden is dreadful. I usually buy the plants but did not this year. I told the acting director I was not providing plants. So this is what it looks like... 90% dead. The seniors here deserve better. They deserve the amenities as described in the contract

The facility is beautiful and the front office team is great - Shelly is a great Sales/Marketing Director. We moved my father in for less than a week; after various concerning observations in the Memory Care/Generations wing, we moved him back home. We had a list of concerns that we sent to Shelly (sales/marketing) and Jessica (nursing). They were very communicative and kind enough to escalate the concerns to the Executive Director, who who has changed 3 times since July 2023 (Deedra Moats, Helen Porter, Lori Cantway). In these 3 months, not a single Executive Director has been able to close the loop on communication, I have been passed off to the next person, with emails and voicemails that go unanswered. At one point, I connected with the Regional Vice President of Operations, who left Integral Senior Living (parent company to Mount Prospect Senior Living) Before she left, she sent a letter to residents announcing openings for a Resident Care Director and Business Office Director. I have even reached out to the Board of Directors to no avail. MPSL is a beautiful facility, and their front office team is very responsive. However, as soon as you begin to ask questions about the level of care given to your loved one, my experience is you are repeatedly ignored by upper management and above.

This facility does not make their elderly clients a priority, and it is very clear as to how it is ran! We almost had a med error as they have a patient at their facility with a similar last name and if family wasn't paying attention, she would have been given the wrong medication! We continue to have to call the facility to ensure that she is being showered, her laundry is being washed, and her room is cleaned appropriately! Of late, the biggest issue has been the facility being infested with big bugs, It took them over 48 hours to address while my grandmother slept on her couch because her mattress was covered in bedbugs and they told us there was no other place to relocate her to, So we took her out of the facility for four weeks so they could deal with the issue. After several emails and phone calls, because they do not do as they say they are going to do, they finally got her a new apartment and did not even bother to move all of her things. Our family had to take on the burden of moving her once again! We asked for financial compensation for the four weeks that she was not there at the facility and still have not gotten an answer and that has been over two months ago! We continue to be unhappy with this facility as they do not make their residence a priority. I do not recommend this facility to anyone for their elderly loved ones!

My mother-in-law moved into Asbury Court with her husband, she suffered from dementia. Good for him…read morebecause he is reasonably self-sufficient, but not so good for her. From what I observed Asbury Court is not well equipped to help elders who are in need of special care and especially those with dementia. Public Medicare assisted elder care care suffers from under staffing, low pay and unqualified caregivers who are not properly trained. Asbury Court is no exception. Their website lists memory care, please do not be fooled. The only memory care that I witnessed was over medication to be placed in a docile and non-functional state of mind and body. While some attendants are kind and empathetic at Asbury Court, many lack the skills and motivation to deal with difficult cases like my mother-in-law and her family members. Is there a better public funded facility out there for elders who suffer from dementia? I hope so, and maybe you can find one! Our baby boomer population generation is fueling a 75% increase in the number of people age 65 and older requiring nursing home care.

Residents enjoy many opportunities to socialize through special interest groups (Book Club, Theatre Club, etc.) and physical fitness activities (Walking Club and morning exercise). I have only the highest of praise for the front office staff/receptionists, Mayra, Brittany, Emily and others, who are truly at the heart of this facility. Their willingness to give of their time and attention, while remaining infinitely patient, is remarkable. The level of care provided by the Certified Nursing Assistants is exceptional. While occasional staffing issues occur, i.e., delays in dispensing medications, they are resolved quickly. Keeping over 100 residents satisfied with their meal service is a challenge, but a recent change at the Head Chef position seems to be a good first step towards improving the quality and variety of food offered. Overall, Plum Creek Supportive Living is a facility that provides those age 65+ with a safe and active environment.

Talked to Carrie the nurse on Saturday of also advised our grandmother could not leave her apt., again not true. The only good thing about the facility is my grandmother's apt., other than that the facility is run down, short staffed, poor food and the nurses are unfriendly or helpful. For the money they charge take your loved one elsewhere.

Our family member was kept clean and comfortable with dignity at front of mind. We shared feedback regarding the weekend doctors communication being highly misleading/confusing for our family, due to coming in so early, saying so little, and focusing on what he thought we wanted to hear instead of what we needed to know (what's best for the patient). The other challenge we faced was related to the Home care side of the business systems not talking to the in-facility side of the business, so we had to repeat information such as funeral home. The worst fall-through with that was receiving a call from the home team to schedule equipment pickup while we were still in hospice, before a death....

I have met the kindest staff in many different locations, most recently at retirement communities in Crystal Lake and Algonquin. The staff at these locations show true dedication and kindness toward all residents, regardless of their abilities. And I enjoy visiting these places and seeing the good care our seniors are getting from JourneyCare staff. JourneyCare has a wide range of activities and services which make sure all needs are met. Caring for patients in facilities, at home or in the Care Centers always puts the patient and their families first. I make calls to hospice families each week to check in and make sure JourneyCare is not missing anything, or just to check that the caregivers don't have any concerns or questions that need answering. The many people I speak with each week often thank me for the check-in and praise the nurses, doctors, chaplains, Social Workers, and all staff who take care of their loved ones. I had the choice of leaving JourneyCare volunteering when I moved out of state, but I chose to continue in a remote position, and returning in person when possible. My respect for the care and kindness JourneyCare gives keeps me dedicated to their mission. The volunteer positions I fill are therapy dog team, Vigil member, photographer, Veteran Pinning service (including remote attendance and blanket creation), Tuck-In Caller, patient visitor, card writing, and community events. I have seen a lot and appreciate it all.
