This facility does not make their elderly clients a priority, and it is very clear as to how it is ran! We almost had a med error as they have a patient at their facility with a similar last name and if family wasn't paying attention, she would have been given the wrong medication! We continue to have to call the facility to ensure that she is being showered, her laundry is being washed, and her room is cleaned appropriately! Of late, the biggest issue has been the facility being infested with big bugs, It took them over 48 hours to address while my grandmother slept on her couch because her mattress was covered in bedbugs and they told us there was no other place to relocate her to, So we took her out of the facility for four weeks so they could deal with the issue. After several emails and phone calls, because they do not do as they say they are going to do, they finally got her a new apartment and did not even bother to move all of her things. Our family had to take on the burden of moving her once again! We asked for financial compensation for the four weeks that she was not there at the facility and still have not gotten an answer and that has been over two months ago! We continue to be unhappy with this facility as they do not make their residence a priority. I do not recommend this facility to anyone for their elderly loved ones!

From what I observed Asbury Court is not well equipped to help elders who are in need of special care and especially those with dementia. Public Medicare assisted elder care care suffers from under staffing, low pay and unqualified caregivers who are not properly trained. Asbury Court is no exception. Their website lists memory care, please do not be fooled. The only memory care that I witnessed was over medication to be placed in a docile and non-functional state of mind and body. While some attendants are kind and empathetic at Asbury Court, many lack the skills and motivation to deal with difficult cases like my mother-in-law and her family members. Is there a better public funded facility out there for elders who suffer from dementia? I hope so, and maybe you can find one! Our baby boomer population generation is fueling a 75% increase in the number of people age 65 and older requiring nursing home care.

My mother-in-law was brought in on Mother's Day. We were originally told she was only approved for 14 days of hospice, no mention on what would happen if it took longer than 14 days. It took a week to hear from social worker regarding her situation because social worker was out of town. no on-site chaplain, but one was available upon request. Social worker promised support with FMLA and a note for work, never received either. My husband was promised bereavement/mental health support, but only after she passed. it's been over a week and nothing. We have to track down the social worker to do her job. The last week of her stay, several loud families were visiting patients in the hospice house, with no enforcement of rules, rowdy guests, or inappropriate behaviors after we were told the teenagers in our party need to be on good behavior. The last few days of her stay, visitors, nurses and staff were talking loudly outside of her room about their personal lives. Completely inappropriate. Have had to ask staff several times for pain meds for MIL, she would be moaning and saying "ow" - nobody would check on her. Would tell staff at desk to get her more meds, they said I had to tell the nurse in a closed-door office. Why is it so hard to identify who is actually providing care? We were told by staff to plan funeral arrangements and they would contact our provider. After she passed, we were told she was a coroner's case and had to go to the Cook County Medical Examiner. We were NOT told this and have no record of this conversation or procedures (but a handout with funeral homes/crematoriums). Staff insisted they told us she was a coroner's case. We have no record. She passed on Memorial Day, the nurse on-site was unprepared for this and kept us at the hospice after she passed to talk to coroner. Did not release us, PCN staff told me it was okay to clean out her fridge and go home. We did not know we would have to talk to the cops, nobody told us that anyone who is seen for a fall and passes within 1 year has to go to the ME. No clue what to expect. More trauma after a traumatic day. We have now had to contact the funeral home on our own and hope they transport my MIL from Cook County to their facility without incident. This has been botched from the get-go. No continuity in training, communication, or actual support for families. The social worker here does not care about the families at all.

Mom needed ear drops, "we can 't do those-family needs to come in". Could not even give an ice pack when my mom had a bad fall. Did niot notify us when mom's arm wound became infected and had necrosis. Do not place a loved one here. Allowed mom to go outside on subzero days. She suffered two bouts of hypoxia and had to be transported by ambulance. When the ER needed critical information to rule out a stroke the RN did niot return my calls or the ER docs calls. Inexcusable!!

When a medical emergency occurred as a result of low sodium and she vomited and fainted CBV staff just brushed it off. They did not filed an incident report. Besides this on a number of occasions we found my mother in bed in the morning fully clothed and even wearing her shoes, because no one bothered to help her undress the night before. The ICU diagnosed her with UTI which she didn't have prior to admission to CBV.

My dad had a recent hospital stay and when he came back home the nurse came by every day to visit him. They are in independent living and they absolutely love it. My mother in law lived here my aunts and uncles lived her and my dads sister lives here now. It's a wonderful place to put your family. The care has been wonderful.

Four days after my dad passed away in 2023, they helped my mom be completely moved back to an independent living apartment. MY PARENTS WERE MARRIED 70 YEARS AND NEVER HAD TO SPEND ONE DAY APART AT WINDSOR PARK. When my dad transferred to Johnson Center skilled nursing after a hospitalization, my mom could walk there from their apartment, under the same roof. Since my dad has been gone, my mom is still participating in activities with friends she has had since 2018. Socialization and continuity have been key for her well-being. She is moving through the grieving process and building a new way of life as a widow amongst her peers, many of whom have had similar life experiences. This beautiful place has been a blessing to our family.

Due to the global pandemic, our application and move-in process was complicated and delayed, so our family was very stressed. I cannot say enough positive words about Starr and Vicki. They communicated with me regularly throughout the process to ease my stress and offer comfort. Even now, a few months after Dad's move-in, they still email or text me just to say hello and see how my Dad and the rest of the family is doing. These two women are kind and compassionate, and they truly helped our family through a very difficult time! There were times when I felt discouraged, so I would call Starr because I knew that her positive encouragement would make me feel better. She even called Dad to encourage him when I was worried that he was getting disconsolate. Now Dad is settled in at Victory Centre and he is very happy! He tells me that everyone is so kind and helpful. He says that the food is very good and he is happy with his apartment. He told me that it is perfect for him because he has privacy and independence in his own space, but he feels safe with the regular check-ins. He put it this way: "the staff makes themselves quietly known throughout the day." The staff is kind and they treat the residents with respect. I have been able to relax knowing that his medications are administered on time every day and he is being well cared for. The staff communicated with me regularly about my dad, and I have had wonderful conversations with Lora and others. One last note, we really appreciate that Victory Centre is taking the global pandemic seriously. They are taking every necessary precaution to keep their residents, caregivers, and staff safe! In comparing numbers of cases at local facilities, it is obvious that Victory Centre is taking the right precautions. I miss my Dad, and I wish that I could go and hang out with him in his apartment, but I know that he is in excellent hands! The caregivers and staff at Victory Centre are true heroes and wonderful human beings!

The reason for my…read moreprocrastination writing this review is the fact that I couldn't imagine how to write it without praising the 50ish staff by their individual names and departments!! The warmth, concern, heart, and genuine care they feel is palpable throughout. As a result, she and her friends are comfortable, engaged, well-fed, observed by such loving, caring, dedicated nurses and sweet aides, and I have such relief knowing that she is living a life with purpose and activity, and constantly tells me how much she loves it there, and raves about the staff and the residents. Actually, a client of mine told me how much his Mom loved it there years ago, and I thought of that when I first brought her to visit. Best decision ever!! She was very scared, hesitant, but they turned her around gently but quickly and she is back to her fun self again, and it is just wonderful. There are no words for the peace having her there gives me. It's a blessed Victory! When I asked one of her now great friends about his experience living there her first week as a resident he enthusiastically said "best group of people I ever met" - so true. Smiles are all over both staff and residents and I love just being around them, but my Mom is so busy now, I have a hard time finding her when I visit - I love it!! Once again, without mentioning names, if they are employed there, I'm describing each one with this glowing review, and because they mean so much to me, and consider so many dear friends now, I will not leave anyone out, because I will run out of room. Just know this attitude started at the front door on the first day, and never disappointed since. I know she is in good hands, and it means the world to me - and so do they.
