Decent course, however their operations are pitiful (take note general manager). I've played here a few times and if you want to grab & go a bite to eat at the turn, forget it. The 6'-5 lunkhead who supposedly manages this is absolutely clueless. He needs to be put back on a mower. Here's some help: if you want to move the pace of play, have ready to go sandwiches and hot dogs, so golfers don't have to wait 15 minutes at the turn. read more

Driving range really needs some work. The prices for a small and large bucket of balls is higher than a lot of better driving ranges. It seems as though the people running the place think it is something better than what it is. Golf here is pricey and the service isn't great at all. I've been here multiple times and had a great experience each time. It is about 65 bucks to play, which is pretty good for a course this caliber. They give you a bucket of warm up balls before your round and access to the range, so I would show up about 20 min early of your tee time. They get you right out on time and the starter is pretty friendly. The course was in great condition each time I played, even in the dry parts of the summer. I really like the layout as well. I would recommend playing here if you get the chance.My only complaints are the price, which is on the high side, and the fact that they don't offer a walking rate. You have to pay the same price you'd pay for a cart even if you walk... doesn't make sense to me. read more

I made a reservation for dinner for my boyfriend's 50th birthday. I requested a window seat and was not happy when those tables were full. It was not that crowded so i am not sure why one was not reserved for us. I did not relay how upset i was because i did not want to ruin the evening. Things turned around quick when our waiter Steven came over to the table. He was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Between him and his food suggestions the night was awesome. I suggest the crab dip and the crab cakes, they were amazing and we will be back and we will ask for Steven to be our waiter. read more

Absolutely a great place to play golf and enjoy great food. The team there is always extremely courteous and prompt. You'll have a hard time finding better food and atmosphere in the Bel Air area. I always look forward to any outing that is held at this great faculty. Cheers! read more

To whom it may concern- I planned to do my engagement photo shoot at Mountain Branch's golf course and facility, on September 26, 2015. As a golfer, I called the Pro Shop to clear it with management. I spoke with Pat on August 10, 2015 at 11:30am and was told that we would be worked in around the golfers and that everything was fine. At that point, I alert my photographer that we're all set and schedule all the necessary appointments to look my best for the pictures, as did my fiancé. I called to verify everything on Monday, September 21st, and Pat answered again. He told me the Head Pro was out of town but to leave a message and he'd get back to me. On Friday, September 25th, I received a voicemail from the Head Pro saying that they are not able to accommodate my request to take pictures at their facility, as I was not having my wedding there. That policy is all well and good, had I been told that when I called over a month prior and had not been told of the policy, or asked if I was having my wedding there. I chose to do my pictures at Mountain Branch because it held many memories for my fiancé and I. I can promise you that we will not have any more memories made there. Over the past year we have stopped playing the course because of the condition it was always in- awful. The grass was no longer green and the greens were in horrible shape. If you're a golfer, that's definitely something you don't want to play on. We did however, continue to use the practice facility and the restaurant/bar. We loved Sunday brunches there- however the quality of everything has continually declined since the last batch (and there has been a bunch) of owners took over. In the end, we were accommodated by a much more established course, Hillendale Country Club. The management and staff could not have been nicer. They apologized for Mountain Branch's awful customer service, even though it had nothing to do with them. Our pictures turned out wonderful and I couldn't be happier. I'm sharing this story because I want you to know of the sub-par service I was given by your staff. I also want you to know that I will be posting this on all of the wedding sites, blogs, as well as the Better Business Bureau, Yelp!, and any other venue I can to get the word out about what happened to me, so that it doesn't happen to anyone else. Stay away!! We were very disappointed with the event we hosted in the main room here. The first red flag were the flies all over the food area and tables. When we asked one of the managers about it, she said it was our fault and didn't offer any assistance in trying to get rid of the flies, so my family and I were literally swatting flies before the guests arrived. In communication with the events manager, Christine, leading up to the event, she wanted to charge me for everyone including the kids, under 21 for the bar package, until I asked, "isn't it illegal to charge me for alcohol for people under 21?!". She was clearly trying to increase their profit. Additionally, we were charged for dessert (Chefs Selection of Assorted Miniature Cakes and Pastries) for 50 people, yet we received 20 tiny cheesecake bites, not nearly enough for every person - good thing we brought our own cakes. Christine is extremely unresponsive, unprofessional, arrogant, and just rude; there were multiple times both before and after our event that I had to send multiple emails following up/asking for a response to my email. To top it all off, after the event they charged my card the wrong amount and refused to provide me a breakdown of the charge. Avoid this place! read more

Went to Mountain Branch for a family event. The food was fresh and good for catering. The waitstaff was super nice. The Founder's Room was nice but only had one entrance and exit. I can see why the max is 85 people. Other than that, the ambience was homey. I would recommend this place for an event. I Drove down from Frederick Maryland About an hour away I booked A time one week prior I have ask how the course conditions are in they said excellent i showed up they said that they just Aerated the greens and the course is in great shape the course was proudly the worse course I have ever played in the state of Maryland the fairways and Tee boxes was gross once you got past the 1st toll was no different than playing on side of the road I would not even say playing in my backyard because my backyard is much nicer To top it all off that we had planned the whole day to play golf we ask for a replay we have paid $55 in the morning time to play golf they wanted to charge us another $50 for a replay by the way it was only 6 o'clockpm we was going to at least 9hole more but to pay that much was ridiculous Please take your business somewhere else where read more

Kept hearing good things about the restaurant and buffet so I thought I would take mom and the family for Mother's Day. Quite a let-down. I was not informed of the price ahead of time so quite shocked when the check came. Also surprised that coffee, tee and sodas were not included at the $35 per person price! It would have been nice if the staff would have taken the time when we were seated to let us know how their buffet worked. As for the food, it was actually quite delicious, but the lay-out of the buffet was poor. Had to stand in line in the bar to get to the dessert table. I probably won't go there again for the buffet, but since the food was good, may try it at another time for lunch or ordering off the menu. read more

Played yesterday. Tee boxes scalded dirt. Some patchy fairway holes too. Looks like the wrong chemical was sprayed. Three holes with cart restrictions. Not in good shape at all. No discount for shitty conditions. Might as well aerate and screw up the entire course at once. read more

Just because I can't rate it 0 stars. Played there today and the course is in terrible condition. Fairways, tee boxes and greens are burned up and all of them are in below average condition. It doesn't seem like the cause has a sprinkler system on the course. Do yourself a favor and play somewhere else, very disappointing. read more

This is a player's course. If you don't mind average length holes with more difficulty, then definitely head here. The first five holes will test even the best golfers, however, when you hit the par 3 sixth, I found the course to lay down a bit and shorten up. The conditions are in great shape right now, however signs of burnt greens are starting to appear and hopefully the grounds crew can stave off the damage of hot summer sun and keep them proper. The back nine is a little more target specific than the front and the final two holes are quite demanding as you ascend to a beautiful clubhouse high on the ridge. The grill is a fantastic place to settle up with your buddies or sit and watch others on the course's phenomenal patio overlooking one and eighteen. The practice facilities are on par with most courses, and the staff I approached were helpful and knowledgeable about the course and amenities available. Even on a Monday when I saw only a handful of players, the ranger was busy driving around and being seen. The only reason this isn't a 5-star is the condition of the greens- I'll be back to play another round as I really enjoyed the difficulty, however I did find I was playing the same clubs pretty much the whole day from the tips. Course is OK but comes with a lot of attitude from the staff Had an outing and my boss and he could only play 9 and was met with "this is MB, we DONT do 9 hole rates" even the the other 7 of us were playing 18 and paying for it Played twilight and finished 18 and wanted to continue b cause there was still some daylight left and they wouldn't let us Been playing a long time and have never heard of this Again, good course but the staff need to lose their attitudes Came back and tried the course again Staff still has attitudes and the course is in terrible shape This course has an identity issue; they think it's better than it is I'm done with this place Such a shame because I live nearby Wetlands and Geneva Farms are in much better shape read more

The food is decent, but definitely not worth the money. Beyond that is the terrible service. I've never left a bad review on here before, but I need to on this one. I couldn't get a refill on my drink to save my life (water, by the way). The waiter brought everyone the wrong food (we were trading plates around to get them to the people who actually ordered them), and when I asked if there was a certain ingredient in the mashed potatoes (because I have a food allergy), he looked right at me and snottily said, "This isn't TGIFridays". Not only that, but my husband's side item was wrong, and instead of leaving his plate and just switching out the incorrect side, the waiter took his entire plate back and my husband sat there without a meal for several minutes while the table waited for his dinner to be brought back. I am not a member at this course and it's almost as if the staff goes out of their way to let you know, that they know, you're not a member. From bag pickup thru the bar staff after the round I encountered attitudes from everyone. News flash Mountain Branch...you're not some illustrious private course with elite members in a pristine location. I am disappointed. I have lived in the area for quite a while and every time I eat in or order out, I find dry, over priced limited food quality. Aside from the quality of food, the staff is dismissive, preoccupied with social interactions and generally not interested in their bread and butter... which is ME. During my last visit, I could barely hear myself talk since the music or DJ was way over volume. I didn't feel comfortable during my experience at all. Do it right you all. Appreciate your customers, be polite and stop trying to be something your not... which is upscale. Have played golf at Mountain Branch about 10 times over the years. I have always loved the layout but the course conditions were never up to par. Played the course two weeks ago and could not believe how awful the course condition was. I first went to the range to see that we couldn't hit off grass and were hitting into mounds of dirt in the distance. That is fine I thought...it is an eye sore but it is just the range (no big deal). Then we started our round. First three holes were okay. From then on out the course conditions were the worst I have ever played on (I have a few hundred rounds under my belt). Every fairway of every hole seemed to be diseased. There was a 90/10 ratio of dirt to grass. At times it was hard to find grass on the fairway where you could move your ball. We had someone from out of town with us and just kept apologizing. There is an air of elitism at the course and I can't figure out why. They discounted the rate $10 prior to the round but did not explain why so the conditions were a surprise. $50 twilight greens fees is absolute robbery. I keep telling myself that I am never coming back but do love the layout. I think I will be following through with the not coming back statement this time. read more

use to be in perfect shape years ago. played 9/1 course was terrible . greens had dirt spots not related to aeration . fairways were lots of dirt and weeds . starter said they have had no money to put into the course . i will pay $ 90 dollars to play but expect excellent conditions . must need new greens manager . restaurant is excellent and would recomend it anytime . would not play golf here until the course is fixed even if it was $ 10 . read more
