Woodlands always is one of my favorite courses in Baltimore surroundings. Challenging, further par 3 holes, great greens and pin placements. Always a great time at Woodlands, will keep visiting and playing! Definitely recommend trying out on a nice warm day! read more

Challenge for Woodlands, wet fairways, the first time I played a week ago, real wet as drives can plug, and do, so loved how tough the greens are to putt, meaning got to position your shot as they have huge UNDULATIONS, and quick in speed, BUT AGAIN, wet, and no rain for last 24 days according to weather guy -- and my golfing friend says NO MORE WILL HE PLAY at Woodlands. As for the sister course, sister, course, Diamond Ridge yes plays easier, but slow play as many shots --- wait so NOT GOING BACK and that is sad as food and service super ---- people very nice. read more

I am not one to complain but I have to bring this to the general manager at the Woodlands attention. I had a 7:24 AM tee time (Saturday 7/29/23) where I arrive at my normal one hour prior to going out. As soon as I was completed with my warm up I drove my cart over to the starter who looked extremely confused and stressed. I informed him of my 7:24 AM tee time and he asked me to go head over to the first tee box. There was a group of three standing around looking even more confused as well as another gentleman who had the same tee time as I did. The group of three that was waiting was late and they had a fourth player that was late as well so they opted to continue without him. By this time it was already close to 7:30 AM. I figured, getting out a little late isn't so bad. As soon as the group in front was out and close to the green a golf cart of two other gentlemen pulled up followed by the starter. The starter asked me for my name and tee time again, then told me that I had been moved to 7:48 AM ... 24 minutes beyond my original tee time which in my opinion is unacceptable. The whole point of getting out early was to avoid the excessive heat expected later that morning and afternoon. I would think for $92 to ride the management could be a little more efficient with getting the groups out on time. I understand there are occasions when this may not happen but in any case there was no point in punishing me where they could've made the group that was behind us wait instead of pushing them in front of us. I have to say though, the gentleman in the clubhouse was very apologetic and offered me other options to go out on the back side first and then eventually get paired up on the front. However, I opted out because no matter what I would've went out later than planned and then right in the middle of the excessive heat. I would hope in order to maintain integrity the Woodlands management would work proactively to ensure groups get out on time consistently. I'm not looking for compensation or any further apologies. I just want management to be aware that this type of behavior is unacceptable. Happy golfing! read more

Once a nice place to play, it no longer is. I pulled in yesterday and noticed how busy and pristine the sister course, Diamond Ridge, was. I wondered why The Woodlands was wide open. It didn't take long to discover why. Fairways were burned out and had numerous huge bare spots. Other parts of the fairways had turned to weeds. Some bunkers were full of weeds as well. To make matters worse we played about 4 or 5 holes in the "rain" as they decided to water the fairways while we were out there. For $54, I'd expect better from a place that was once respected. read more

On Thursday, June 3, with a Tee time of 4:00 pm, me and three other friends checked in around 3:40 due to the rain that was on the way. When we got to the counter, the young lady was very friendly and helpful. We wanted to play but we were fully aware there was no way we could complete a round of golf. We asked could we get a rain check for at least 9 holes because of the rain. We were told yes.  We were on the 7th hole when it started to rain. I wanted to stop by my friends wanted to complete 9 holes based on what we were told, about getting a rain check after playing 9 holes.  On the ninth hole, it got very dark and started lighting and raining very hard, so we heading to the clubhouse. At the counter was a young man who said he was the other manager. We told him was said at the counter while checking in. He told us, Woodlands do not honor rain checks for golfers during twilight start times. We paid $42 to play and I believe this was the most unfair ruling I experienced since playing golf.    I believe the Woodlands could have done a much better job, dealing with a situation like this.   Respectfully, Gary Stubbs read more

Not a cheap round of golf, but usually worth it. I'm not averse to paying a little money to have an enjoyable time out on the golf course, and typically I can expect a good time at the Woodlands. Woodlands is located on the same property as Diamond Ridge, and they also share a clubhouse, but the two courses are totally different. Woodlands is the more upscale of the two. Because Diamond Ridge is the cheaper of the two, it typically is much more busy than the Woodlands. I would rather pay a little more money than have to wait on every tee box, as can be the case on Diamond Ridge. Also, the quality of the course sets it apart. You will usually find the Woodlands to be in topnotch shape with the notable exception of one hole, #13, more on that later. Plus, even though the course borders trees on pretty much every hole, it is a rather open course, making it enjoyable for all skill levels. My favorite aspects of the course are the Par 3s. From the white tees, no par 3 plays longer than 150yards, and most of them are downhill. My favorite is #14, it is only a SW or PW and it has about 75 feet of drop from the tee to the green. There is nothing quite like hitting a perfect wedge and watching it fall for what feels like a minute. There is a huge (8-10 ft deep) bunker guarding the front, so it isn't a pushover, but it is fun, which is exactly what this course is. Now, the one problem with this course is #13, which is a long uphill dogleg par 5. No matter that time of year it is, they always seem to be working on this hole. Playing from the fairway is like playing from the sandy rough. They always seem to be aerating, more than the other holes. Once you get up the hill, the hole plays fine, but there is something wrong with the first part of the hole. This is the only element keeping this course from being a 5-star course. The views are spectacular, the course is set up to offer variety and the staff is very helpful. This is one of my go-to courses in the area, and I would recommend anyone looking for a smooth pace-of-play, to pay a few more bucks and try the Woodlands. read more

1. Not told about aerating when booking 2. Fairways and tee boxes are in very bad shape. Sand (not traps) from tee box to green. 3. Always seem to have an issue with starters for some reason every time I play even though we are on time and ready to go. Do not pay full price to play here you will be very disappointed. I'm disappointed I paid $55. Historically The Woodlands is in better shape than DiamondRidge so I would be scared to play DiamondRidge. Very disappointed and won't be returning. read more

This course is one of the nicest public courses I have played. Been playing the woodland for almost ten years now, and its in amazing shape not matter what time of the year. Yes, its a bit more $$$ then your typical public course, but you pay for what you get. Less golfers mean quicker round times. The course is always maintained really well and I see one improvement after another each time I play. Some of the holes are tight, as almost every one is lined with trees, but each hole provides a different approach and challenge. If you looking for something cheap, this is not your course. If you are looking for something that is far and above better then your typical Baltimore public course, (with great twilight rates), you need to play The Woodlands. read more

This is my "home course," and I recently had a disappointing experience. Granted it was the first really nice weekend of the season, and I understand the need to fit in as much business as possible I was frustrated by what I experienced. Being an amateur golfer and new to the game it can be frustrating and rattling golfing in front of somebody you do not feel comfortable with. Two buddies and I had set a tee time, when we got to the started we came to find a fourth would be joining our group. He was a nice guy, however coming in as single I'm sure he wanted a quick round, and on the reverse my friends and I wanted to join a round amongst ourselves. Again this is my home course so I will return, however I was disappinted by this experience, enough that I had to share. read more

My son and I played Father's Day and the round cost about $150 for 2. They paired us up with a twosome, but we didn't mind because it was an old friend I hadn't seen in a while - can't make this up. They send folks off about every 8 minutes (which basically means you have "NO" time to look for a lost ball.) On about the 8th hole the ranger told us we were a hole behind, but later realized there was a twosome in front of us. On 11 he came again (after some guy came into our fairway and was going to hit one of our balls so that lead to a little discussion) and said we have to skip the hole because we were behind. The ranger kept giving us crap about slow play, even though we never saw the group behind us except on adjacent holes then having us skip a hole was uncalled for since we finished the round in about 4:15. That's pretty good on a Sunday morning, public course, on one of the busiest days of the year. For $150 a round and to be constantly complained to for slow play then having to skip a hole was uncalled for. I vote with my feet and wallet, I would not go back to that course. read more

Played the Woodland golf course on 5/1 and 5/8, and the course is in excellent condition. One of the better courses in the area, really like the layout, challenging but fair. Nice place for an enjoyable round of golf, great course that tests your game without beating you up and the pro shop staff and starter are helpful and friendly. read more

First time at this course Most unnerving day of golf ever. Was hitting the ball very very well only to find wasps every other green. Oh and the bunkers! Wasps are in the bunkers as well. Will not be going back. Maybe when the weather gets colder. Course layout was nice. Good mix of long and short par 4s. Course was not just straight which is awesome. Difficult greens - person who placed the pins today must not have had a good day, brutal. Greens were a little slow. Good Course - Bad experience !WASPS! read more

If you want a quiet and relaxing place to go spend your weekends then this is the place to be. These guys have really inexpensive prices and their golf course is just beautiful. I can't wait to bring my boys here next weekend. Such a wonderful place. read more

As a senior golfer who plays the forward tees, I have been very pleased with the placement of the forward tees at The Woodlands. This makes the course playable and enjoyable for those of us who can't boom it off the tee. The course is beautiful and always in good shape. Lots of elevation changes, blind tee shots and challenging greens make this course a true test, but I've always felt the course is fair. However, if you spray the ball off the tee, you might find this course a little too challenging. My golfing buddies and I love this course and play it as often as we can. The weekday deal that includes lunch, range balls, a sleeve of Titleist golf balls, greens fee and cart for less than $50 can't be beaten. The staff is always very friendly. read more

Really nice layout, but the greens are a bit tricked up, so be careful with pin placements. They need to spend some money on their cart paths, which in many places are in disrepair. read more

I played The Woodlands last week and the course was outstanding. The course was in excellent condition. My guests and I thoroughly enjoyed our day. The staff couldn't have been any friendlier. We can't wait to visit again and play the Diamond Ridge Course. I play quite a bit of golf around the country and for a public facility you will be hard pressed to find a better experience. read more
