I am not thrilled about paying for months when we are not creating trash in the mountains. BUT I am thrilled that on the weekends I can get rid of trash/garbage and NOT pack it into my car for a 100 mile drive to my flatland residence. OR I can take it direct to the dump during the week. Overall, the Mtn Disposal field crew are courteous even though their job is laborious, unpleasant, and challenging -- everyday. I speak from more than 30 years of residency. I asked why our trash was not picked up this week and they had the nerve to tell me covid, the holiday's and road conditions. COVID is an excuse for EVERYTHING. This is a trash truck that has NO contact with any of us but bc of covid it can't pick up our trash???!!! Secondly the holiday's. I have NEVER had a trash company NOT come because of a holiday. Wow, never thought I would be reviewing a trash pickup service, but here we are. I moved to the area 3 months ago and noticed that my recycling wasn't getting picked up or the bin would be 1/3 full after pickup. I have had my recycling picked up once since I moved in and I am very low waste, so my trash has been picked up twice. When I called to see what was going on, I was told the driver said no bins were out, which is not true and there is no way they could have missed them. The woman I spoke to about it was not helpful, pretty rude, and tried to tell me paper bags were not recyclable? Anyways, despite not providing the service I am paying for, I am told because it is a requirement that I can basically go f myself. I have never even heard of this. I am one person with very little trash and a bin of recycling each week, what is the problem? Lazy pickup employees? Incompetence all around? It's 2024 and we live in California. Pick up my recycling and just because you are a trash company doesn't mean you gotta act like trash, you know what I mean? Called me and said they decided i lived on an access road and would have to pay extra , 40$ a month extra , for a house they've been collecting trash at for over ten years ( when they do show up). I'm rarely at the house and since they made sure with county backdoor bribes that part time residents can no longer get any kind of discount and have to pay as if they lived there full time, i'm ready to sell my cabin. The lady who called talked to me as if i was a child and said she was told last week to upcharge me , but she waited till today to say so , I REALLY don't understand how that is doing me a favor? , now i have less time to figure out how to pay an even larger bill than one i could barely afford. Random service interruptions with out any notice. Garbage been pulling up in Crestline and VOE for almost a week!

I had good service in Crestline, then I moved to Cedarpines park. The driver here is terrible. I was left notes on my cans saying they were not the right ones. So i took them to their office, showed the lady who said they are fine. She called another driver over who happened to be there. He said they are fine. So the next week I put them out and got the same note, again. After that I cancelled my pickup service and had been taking my trash. It is a pain, but better than paying and having to take it too. So fast forward a few years and I thought, maybe the driver is different or maybe he is better now, so i ordered pickup. I put 5 bags a week out and make sure they are not too heavy. Went well for 3 weeks, but today they left a bag. I weighed the bag, it weighed 55lbs. I went to the office to ask what the weight limit is, it is 65lbs. This driver is looking for reasons not to pick up the trash. Burrtec, if you have people looking for reasons not to work, they will find one. So now i am stuck bringing them in again, which is better than paying and bringing them in. read more

We have a cabin an Arrowbear which we rarely use. I didn't even know we signed up for this until I started receiving bills and delinquent letters. I don't understand how a company can just mail out bills for a service I never signed up for or even knew I had. Anyways after contacting Mountain Disposal they asked me to email them a copy of my electric bill to show that the cabin is only used about once a month. I've had great service since moving up to Lake Arrowhead. The reason they FORCE the service is so the hoodlums don't drop their trash off the side of the road...which they WOULD do. I think it is GREAT that you can take items both Sat and Sun for drop off at a designated area. I opted for curbside pick up for a small additional fee and they have done a wonderful job; even with the tough weather conditions and challenging roads to maneuver their large trucks around. Completely happy with this service and agree 100% that people should have trash service so (even if part time) they have a place to take their trash and it doesn't end up on our beautiful roads. I've had better service here in Arrowhead, than our trash service in San Diego. Keep up the good work! I appreciate you! read more

These guys do a great job getting our trash curbside every week and I imagine it's probably a tough job up here in the mountains with all the steep narrow roads and unpredictable weather. So the actual trash guys get 5 stars. The 1 Star is for the chubby lady with glasses and blonde hair that works at the front desk. She is very rude and gets a stupid ass look on her face when you ask a question as if your annoying her. If you don't like your job, go work somewhere else, don't take it out on the customers. My wife and I have owned a vacation home in Lake Arrowhead. We come up about once a month. We do not rent it out. We have contractors clean up our yard and they clean up and take all of the yard trash with them. We do not produce any trash, only a few used items such as tissues. We always bring a small trash bag with us down to our primary home. We DO NOT need they service nor use their service at all. How can someone force you to pay for what you do not need! This is absolutely a ROBBERY. We already pay for hight property tax. What else do they want from the part time owner. I ma selling it and get the heck out from this county! Add a Running Springs homeowner to the list of being taken. Boy does it hurt to have to give them money for not providing a service. I only hope someone does a class action suit and stops this before it begins. Let's see.....don't use the cabin for six months....have no trash....pay about $90. Go up one weekend a month for three months....take trash back to home where I am paying a huge garbage service...get charged about $45 for a service I never used. Someone mentioned that we have to pay for phone and utility services too whether we use them or not, but that is a horrible analogy. If I don't want my landline phone service, I can shut it off and use my cell. Plus, my utilities reflect the water, electricity, and gas I AM USING, not what I"M NOT USING!!!! If I choose to not use electricity or water I can shut them off and not have to pay a monthly fee. However, paying someone for the privilege of NOT picking up my trash or coming by my house just doesn't sit right with me. read more

The disposal service is usually excellent. My trash is picked up promptly, with no residue on the driveway. I diligently separate the recyclables during the week, rinsing the cans/bottles (careful not to include non-recyclables). I get discouraged when I witness BOTH regular garbage and recyclables being dumped into the same truck- huh? I understand when there is a short week (holidays) and the workers need to double-time it, but why not give the customers a heads-up (email) whenever you plan on combining both receptacles on a regular week?? During the Christmas week our trash was not picked up- understood. But the following week an unusually high amount of recyclables were available, but it all went into the same truck as the regular garbage- whaaat? read more

I was very upset when Burrtec send me a third bill for 48.- for non service without a solution on how I can get exempted, because we do not live up here. I phoned the the Department of Public Works. S.B. Phone Number 909 386 8701. Reannan told me that they now have a solution to cancel Burrtec's fees. It is a little daunting, but for a savings of 200.- a year..... The price is now 50.- per 1/4 year. It en tales coming up and taking something to Heaps Peak Transfer Station and getting a RECEIPT 4 times in one month. Sounds like too much fuss, but I found that if you go on Saturday to the dump ( open til 4:30) and then on Monday before you go home it counts as two. So you only have to make the trip twice a month, but they want you to do that three time a year. A little bit of a pain. But they will send you all the info and a short form to fill out. 15.- the year and the receipts is all you need, beats Burrtec. So don't sue, don't sell, just take a couple of weekend rides and deprive Burrtec of there windfall. : ) Smile, lives to short. Like it says, don't get mad, get even. read more

We have a cabin in Arrowbear that is rarely used. We receive invoices from this company for trash pick up which we have never used. We don't even have trash cans. We send in a request for a waiver every three months so that the bill is removed. How do I get these people to permanently stop billing me. We will never use them now or in the future. It is really an inconvenience to gather copy and send in the bills just to get the bil removed - only to do it all over again the next three months. Seems like a scam to me. Help? Anyone? read more

Mountain Disposal/Burrtec charges a fee for three months of collection service up front. We all pay it because it is mandatory per the County of San Bernardino. However, Mountain Disposal consistently does not honor their contract for services by leaving trash bins unemptied for two, sometimes three weeks at a time. Yet, we still have to pay. My last experience: on December 22, 2021 our bins were emptied. Recyclables and normal household garbage were loaded together in one truck. We didn't receive service again until January 12, 2022. I sent complaint messages twice to Burrtec, and once to San Bernardino County Waste Management, regarding the issue and never received a reply from anyone. We now have received our full bill for January-March 2022. We don't complain every time there is an issue, it's tiresome doing so, but I have submitted several complaints recently in March and August of 2021 for lack of service. Out of the five complaints submitted, I received an apology once, and the truck was sent to our property for an unscheduled pick-up the next day. The other complaints were ignored. There is not much we can do about this issue; payment is mandatory per the County, and Burrtec knows it. But we all can complain to Burrtec, the SB County Waste Management department, California Department of Consumer Affairs, and the Federal Trade Commission. Maybe if enough complaints are filed, the government will do something about Burrtec's breach of contract. read more

We are supposed to have a recycling program with our service. We separate our regular trash from recycling and put them in different colored containers. We observe it all is picked up and dumped into the same truck. We are forced to pay for trash and recycling, and we suppose Burrtec gets an incentive. The recycling waste should be taken to a different location and handled appropriately to reduce the waste going to a landfill. The way this company is handling trash is not good for the environment. We will contact the authorities if this is observed again. We should all demand a refund as well. read more

My husband and I have a cabin in Green Valley Lake. It's a vacation cabin, and we are only there 2-3 times per month. We don't rent it out. The fact that we don't NEED trash service in any way, yet get charged for ZERO services, is criminal. They used to have a program in place where you could submit Edison bills to prove you aren't there. Every cycle, we were "well below the limit" and were able to be exempt. This was a perfect arrangement for us and I had no problem doing the extra work. But they have taken this option away. Now, I pay for literally nothing. Zip. Nada. I feel like this is also somehow illegal...we pay for using the mountain dump (even though we don't use it) in our property taxes. We don't use the 'curbside'--which would cost extra if we did anyway. So what am I paying for? Now that I think about it, I'm paying TWICE for a service I don't use. Why is our rarely used vacation property now required to pay these crooks for a service we do not use nor want. No longer are we able to receive an exemption for service by submitting SCE bills. They say it is a county problem, county says it is MDisposals problem. No answers! Went to the county meeting last month, said they were looking into options, but so far nothing has been done and probably won't be done until the contract is up next year. Why are we paying for a trash dump service on our property taxes and then have to pay this company for something we do not need. My husband and I have only lived in Lake Arrowhead about a month. We don't have monthly pick-up. We take our trash and recyclables to the disposal site at Lake Arrowhead Elementary School on Saturdays or Sundays. They rotate attendants. Our favorite attendant is Bernie. He is helpful, accommodating, and knowedgable about Burrtec rules and regulations. As newbies he has really helped us out. I wish the rest of the crew were as wonderful as Bernie. Some of them make me feel like I'm working for them. Bernie always make us feel like he works for us and the rest of the community. read more

I would like the public to know that the Mountain Disposal that serves Crestline has some caring employees. I am not supposed to lift more than 10 pounds due to some hardware in my vertebrate. Through Tiffany, I became aware of a program that helps the physically disabled. Over all, and over the past 20 years, I have had very good service from this company. Sometimes, when there is ice and snow on the ground, I have had a delay in trash pick-up, but I am thankful that I don't have to go out on those awful roads myself. The guy who picks up my trash always puts my lids back on the containers. Sometimes the lids are up-side-down, but nobody is perfect! :) read more

I was really surprised to see all these bad reviews, as I've had such a great experience with this company. They immediately reversed all my bills for when I did not have service (after providing proof via my electric bills), and started my service up right away when I arrived. I'm remodeling, and the trash collector helped me by taking as much discarded carpet, yard waste and other trash I had. I also was able to take excess loads over the weekend to the local disposal site. They forgot to pick up my recycling bin this week (I'm still a new customer on the route, so I understand the oversite), but a quick phone call and the situation was remedied. read more

This company use to be very professional with timely trash pick up. In the last two years service has drastically changed. My husband and I take turns calling about every 6 weeks to ask for trash pickup. I have also spoken to the manager which assured me he would take care of the problem.Workers either forget to pick up after a holiday or just don't bother to pick up on some weeks. Fourth of July trash is still waiting pick up in extreme weather. We are reasonable people and a call, when they are behind, would make a difference. read more
