This store was filled with many different types of furniture and items that were donated. I find that the quality and selection of merchandise really depends on the neighborhood that they are located in. I really found that this store was a bit pricey. I found a couple of paintings that caught my eye and they were asking for a price that was more than it was worth because the original price tags were still on the back of the paintings. They were $10-$20 dollars cheaper then what Habitat for humanity was asking for. After seeing that it I lost some interest shopping in the store. Since I was now just in browsing mode it's interesting to see what was donated in this area.

But over the years I've donated thousands of dollars worth of stuff here. So i came in today with some small items which they generally accept. They took it all except they wouldn't take a couple nice mirrors i brought them because "they might break". I was then given the oh so generous offer of donating a few dollars and they'd throw them away for me. I left there with a really bad taste in my mouth. Again. After years of donating here the fact of the matter is that they are ungrateful. Not what I am after when donating to a charity.

We were so excited to learn about this place because Summit County does not offer curbside pick-up of recyclables unless you go through a private (and expensive) company. Since we have been building a house for the past year, you can imagine the wood, metal and cardboard waste and scraps - and okay, maybe juuust a few beer cans and Gatorade bottles - we've accumulated. This has become a weekly stop on our way home as we bring a trailer full of recyclables here rather than let them go to a landfill. There are huge roll-offs clearly labeled for different materials and with big steps so you can more easily get higher to toss in your stuff (if you're carrying large things, this is a huge help). They even take things like barbecues, space heaters and the like. I will admit that we've even found something to take home with us from one of the bins - a metal shelving unit that now sits in our garage. If that isn't recycling, I don't know what is. FYI, one thing they don't take is trash. But you can figure that out by reading the signs posted everywhere. The area is kept pretty clean and the bins are emptied frequently meaning we've never had an issue with lack of space for leaving our huge quantities of items. It's also located right across the street from the Habitat for Humanity Restore if you want to keep your green theme going. If you are up in the mountains for outdoor pursuits, there is no excuse not to take your beer cans here on the way home, or to their other locations in Dillon and Frisco! It will only take a couple of minutes. You don't have to interact with any staff, just pull in, drop off and be on your nature-loving, tree-hugging way. From their website: "All recyclables recycled at the drop-off centers end up at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) located at the Summit County Resource Allocation Park (SCRAP) in Keystone, where they are sorted, bailed, and shipped all over the United States to be made into new products." I've used Dolly for about 8 years with no issues until this move, and it turned into a stressful,…read moreexpensive mess due to what appears to be a problem on Dolly's end. I booked a full studio apartment move in the app with an expected price of $398. On move day, the helpers arrived and told me their system showed they were hired to move one item only. We compared what I had on my end vs. what they had, and it was clearly different -- my reservation showed a studio move, theirs showed a single item. We called Dolly support while the helpers were standing there. The helpers agreed to do the full move (they were professional and did their best), but once the job was "fixed" in the system, my move was reclassified (it even showed up to 620 sq ft, though my apartment is ~520 sq ft) and the price jumped in seconds from $398 to $697. Because we had to be out that day, we had no real option to cancel or reschedule -- our hands were tied. The helpers weren't the problem. The customer wasn't the problem. The problem was Dolly's reservation/dispatch system and the way it handled corrections day-of, leaving me stuck paying hundreds more. I'm posting this so others know: if anything goes wrong with the listing on the back end, you may end up forced into paying a much higher price on moving day.

I know that the proceeds go to a good cause but sometimes I think this and some other Restore/Habitat forget that these items are donated to them and to keep the prices in check. I recently stopped in and found a small round table on the way out. I inquired about a price and was told that she could not give me a price as it just came in. I told her I was headed back to Denver and that I was interested in purchasing it. Again she told me that she had to discuss it with two other staff members before pricing. I mean I could understand this if I were looking at a high end piece but this clearly was not. I asked once more if she could come up with a price and that I lived far and couldn't get back any time soon. She blurted out ok it's 200$(like get off my back) I would have gladly paid a fair price for this table but instead I just left without purchasing anything and feeling frustrated at experiencing such rudeness. I'll probably be back in time because of the uniqueness of their items but I hope I never run into this particular employee again. I think it would be a good idea to remember that the items are donated with the intent that they will actually SELL them.
