Wedding was 7/6/22 at Kehlet Mansion in Meeks Bay and food was buffet style. We are so pleased with our experience with Mountain Magic Catering. They were our biggest question mark for the wedding since we do not live in the area and were not able to taste the food ahead of time, but it was absolutely amazing. They responded promptly to emails, helped us pick a fully gluten-free menu (even the cupcakes!), were on time with the food, had a beautiful set-up, delicious food, were great with guests, and even saved us a couple hor-dourves so we could try them after photos. We had multiple guests with Celiac and they were wonderful about our concerns. One of our guests is very sensitive to cross contamination, and they (and everyone else) felt great afterwards. They packaged the leftovers for us and when we brought them out a couple nights later, our family was lining up to have some more of the tri-tip and the sauteed mushrooms (my personal favorite was the eggplant lasagna, but there weren't any leftovers of that). My only note is they did put a 20% gratuity onto the final bill, but I had seen another review mention that, so we were already budgeting for it. They did such an amazing job we would have tipped the same regardless. My family that normally takes photos of everything did not actually take any photos of the main food, but we have a shot of our menu, partial set-up, and dessert (note the wooden M+N pieces were bought on Etsy)

Such a great choice for wedding catering! (Photo by Rose Street Studio)

Peter was such a delight to work with for our wedding. He helped so much with the planning process and gave recommendations not only for the food, but was invaluable in helping us figure out what we needed in terms of rentals. And the food was amazing! Friends and family are still (2 months later) talking about the superb food and service. From the very beginning they went above and beyond. Their responsiveness, talent, and professionalism is very much appreciated! If you're planning an event in Tahoe, I highly recommend working with Peter and Mountain Magic.

Recently came from a multi day event. Absolutely amazing. At no point was the vegetarian/Vegan fare made to feel an after thought.

An Unforgettable Birthday & Retirement Celebration!…read more Granlibakken Resort made my birthday and retirement celebration more special than I could have ever imagined. This was a surprise weekend planned by my family, and from the moment we arrived, the experience was absolutely wonderful. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. Mimi, Anika, and Joshua at the front desk greeted us with kindness and made sure our needs were taken care of. Adrian and Julio in the dining area were so friendly and attentive, helping make each meal an enjoyable experience. A special thank you to Max, who worked with my daughter and nieces behind the scenes to help coordinate the surprise party and make everything come together so beautifully. Your kindness and effort meant so much to our family. The resort itself is breathtaking. The grounds blend naturally with the Tahoe forest, surrounded by beautiful landscaping, garden flowers, and peaceful wooded scenery. The cabin-style buildings fit perfectly into the environment. It truly feels like you're camping in the wilderness--but with all the comforts and charm of a cozy resort. Our room was very clean, comfortable, and inviting. The furniture and décor created a warm, relaxing atmosphere that made it easy to feel at home during our stay. The pool area was wonderful for families. There was a great swimming pool, a kiddie pool for the little ones, and a spacious hot tub where everyone could relax and enjoy time together. It was a perfect place for children and adults alike to make memories. The breakfast buffet was delicious! Everything was fresh, hot, and prepared perfectly. It was a wonderful way to start each day. Our retirement and birthday celebration was held in a beautiful event room with a gorgeous fireplace and a large outdoor area where the children could play freely and happily. Watching our family laugh, celebrate, and enjoy each other's company made the day incredibly meaningful. I enjoyed my four-day stay at Granlibakken, and every moment was memorable. The peaceful surroundings, amazing staff, comfortable accommodations, and attention to detail made this one of the most special weekends of my life. Some vacations are enjoyable, but this one became a treasured family memory that I will carry with me forever. Thank you, Granlibakken Resort, for helping make my birthday and retirement celebration so unforgettable. I absolutely loved my stay and would highly recommend Granlibakken Resort to anyone looking for a beautiful Tahoe getaway, a family vacation, or a special place to celebrate life's important moments. I can't wait to return!

We called multiple times to request an early check-in so that we could attend our niece's rehearsal dinner. The request was never noted and the room was not ready. The staff promised to call when the room was ready, but failed to do so. We ended up being late. The hotel itself is like a bad Monet painting: very pretty from a distance, but uglier the closer you get. The signs of willful neglect are everywhere from poorly flushing toilets, old uncomfortable mattresses, chipped bathroom floors, and non-functioning irons. The only shining moment was that the iron was replaced, but mostly because of our agitation. So, there's that. It combines the disinterested service of a French restaurant with the quality of Chili's on a Sunday afternoon.

Staff: Jones, TJ, and Chef Angel were the best! Always attentive and able to help with anything. Chef made us an amazing vegetarian lunch consisting of a beyond burger and roasted veggies. Almost all the snacks were vegetarian/vegan. Verdict: Absolute must for all Ritz Carlton guests! Service was great, food was amazing, and the experience was unrivaled. She has wonderful relationships with other local Tahoe wedding vendors, and we are so thrilled she connected us with the best photographer, florist, caterer and more. She gave us the peace of mind that we needed planning the most important day of our lives. Our wedding was stunning, and guests keep telling us it was the most beautiful wedding they have attended, and I cannot agree more! Merrily has such a tasteful, talented, creative eye for wedding details, and we are so happy we trusted her completely with her vision. If you are looking for a planner who will create the Tahoe wedding of your dreams, you need to choose Merrily- she's the best of the best!

Merrily! I love this woman! I don't even know where to begin…read more We could begin at the beginning, when I told Merrily, "well, let's see, I'd like to get married near the lake... outside... that's about all I know." So how did she figure out exactly what I was looking for and deliver it? It's still kind of a mystery to me, but I think it has something to do with months of patience, lots of creativity, and tireless efforts to work closely with me, my husband, and my mom. Merrily found an estate that was perfect for our needs - actually a lovely vacation home, right on the lake, owned by a lovely couple that rents out for one wedding a summer. She visited the estate multiple times (while I was living in Chicago), measuring, imagining, drawing plants, re-drawing... and laid out a fantastic ceremony and reception. My whole family went up to Tahoe for a long weekend and Merrily arranged great meetings for us with the vendors I'd selected (based on her recommendations) - it was really fun working with these women, they love working together and clearly have the logistics of weddings down to a science. With that said, they all (Merrily, as well as the florist and the caterer) put so much creative energy into my wedding and came up with such great ideas, it made me feel like I was the only wedding they were doing all year. Speaking of vendors, I need to write a whole separate yelp review about Chapin the DJ, who was the most unexpectedly awesome part of the wedding weekend. He had these crazy lounge singer versions of early Michael Jackson among other gems. We loved it. Really. Merrily rocks for finding him. I hired Merrily about 14 months before my wedding. Anything can happen, right? Yes: one day she called to tell me that she was having a baby a mere 2.5 months after the wedding day! Even if she hadn't been 6 months pregnant, I would have been surprised how hard she worked on the day of our wedding. She was out directing the small army of people building and arranging stuff, she managed the rescue of the altar when it fell in the lake during setup, she arranged and perfected flowers, rocks, petals, table arrangements, guest cards, ...man, there was a lot of stuff... and of course kept us all on schedule and in the right place at the right time. The day went incredibly smoothly. I didn't worry about anything, except keeping myself from crying and smudging the eye makeup. If you think I'm over the top in gushing about Merrily, you should read one of the emails my mom writes to prospective brides looking for references. Every time she gets the chance to write one of these, I am convinced she spends hours crafting a new letter. (Let's just ignore the part where she takes digs at me for going to India for 3 months in the middle of wedding planning season.) My mom is a little more detail oriented than me, and definitely a much better party planner. Since she's the expert, I'll just quote her here: "Merrily is very creative, easy to work with, prompt. She pays attention to detail and keeps everything on track. In short, she is a very accomplished professional. I really think she was an angel." As my mom says, I think you'll be lucky if you get to work with Merrily.

That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea the next time we come here...West Shore Cafe was pretty good. There were 5 of us so we all ordered a ton of food(see pics). Service was on point and food for the most part was good but there was one item lacking and that was the Truffle Fries. Normally one thing wouldn't bother us so much but a lot of of us are potato connoisseur and especially love Truffle. So the fact that the flavor was absent in the fries was a little of a let down. Easy fix though. I would just add more Truffle Oil or whatever Truffle ingredient you add to the fries. Aside from that, all of us had a really good time and definitely would come back.
