An Unforgettable Birthday & Retirement Celebration!…read more Granlibakken Resort made my birthday and retirement celebration more special than I could have ever imagined. This was a surprise weekend planned by my family, and from the moment we arrived, the experience was absolutely wonderful. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. Mimi, Anika, and Joshua at the front desk greeted us with kindness and made sure our needs were taken care of. Adrian and Julio in the dining area were so friendly and attentive, helping make each meal an enjoyable experience. A special thank you to Max, who worked with my daughter and nieces behind the scenes to help coordinate the surprise party and make everything come together so beautifully. Your kindness and effort meant so much to our family. The resort itself is breathtaking. The grounds blend naturally with the Tahoe forest, surrounded by beautiful landscaping, garden flowers, and peaceful wooded scenery. The cabin-style buildings fit perfectly into the environment. It truly feels like you're camping in the wilderness--but with all the comforts and charm of a cozy resort. Our room was very clean, comfortable, and inviting. The furniture and décor created a warm, relaxing atmosphere that made it easy to feel at home during our stay. The pool area was wonderful for families. There was a great swimming pool, a kiddie pool for the little ones, and a spacious hot tub where everyone could relax and enjoy time together. It was a perfect place for children and adults alike to make memories. The breakfast buffet was delicious! Everything was fresh, hot, and prepared perfectly. It was a wonderful way to start each day. Our retirement and birthday celebration was held in a beautiful event room with a gorgeous fireplace and a large outdoor area where the children could play freely and happily. Watching our family laugh, celebrate, and enjoy each other's company made the day incredibly meaningful. I enjoyed my four-day stay at Granlibakken, and every moment was memorable. The peaceful surroundings, amazing staff, comfortable accommodations, and attention to detail made this one of the most special weekends of my life. Some vacations are enjoyable, but this one became a treasured family memory that I will carry with me forever. Thank you, Granlibakken Resort, for helping make my birthday and retirement celebration so unforgettable. I absolutely loved my stay and would highly recommend Granlibakken Resort to anyone looking for a beautiful Tahoe getaway, a family vacation, or a special place to celebrate life's important moments. I can't wait to return!

We called multiple times to request an early check-in so that we could attend our niece's rehearsal dinner. The request was never noted and the room was not ready. The staff promised to call when the room was ready, but failed to do so. We ended up being late. The hotel itself is like a bad Monet painting: very pretty from a distance, but uglier the closer you get. The signs of willful neglect are everywhere from poorly flushing toilets, old uncomfortable mattresses, chipped bathroom floors, and non-functioning irons. The only shining moment was that the iron was replaced, but mostly because of our agitation. So, there's that. It combines the disinterested service of a French restaurant with the quality of Chili's on a Sunday afternoon.

I can not in good faith recommend Mountain Magic Catering. I was very disappointed with how Peter,…read morethe owner, handled a change to our event. Due to serious family health circumstances, we had to downsize our wedding to a smaller family gathering of about 1/2 the size of our wedding. We did not cancel our event, in fact it was still held on the same date, at the same time, and at the same location. Unfortunately, Peter would not accommodate our smaller event or refund any portion of our $700 deposit. We were told there was a 75 person minimum, even though this was never discussed verbally or by email before we paid our deposit and there was nothing in writing of this requirement anywhere in our catering paperwork. This was especially surprising because their website referenced smaller gatherings and family reunions. I felt there should have been some willingness to work with us under the circumstances and especially since we didn't even cancel. The only thing mentioned was our deposit would be nonrefundable if cancelled. Other vendors involved with our event were willing to make adjustments, which made this experience particularly disappointing. If you plan to use this caterer, I strongly recommend getting everything in writing, including minimum guest requirements, deposit policies, and exactly what happens if your event needs to be changed. Based on my experience, Peter was very difficult to work with when our circumstances changed and showed little flexibility. Unfortunately, I felt the way our situation was handled was unfair and unprofessional.

If you want to go to a cafe go to Tahoe house for quality coffee and food (plus organic milk!). If you want to sit down, have a great view and amazing food with an in-house sommelier on the West Shore come here. We've been going to the West Shore (restaurant) since it opened and it is great. The staff has also always been accommodating even when we have brought our kids. To the owners: highly recommend dropping the cafe in the name. I have had to tell a lot of people that you're a restaurant and not a small coffee shop. I'm sure you've lost a lot of potential customers who were looking for a local restaurant and end up at Chambers instead.

That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea the next time we come here...West Shore Cafe was pretty good. There were 5 of us so we all ordered a ton of food(see pics). Service was on point and food for the most part was good but there was one item lacking and that was the Truffle Fries. Normally one thing wouldn't bother us so much but a lot of of us are potato connoisseur and especially love Truffle. So the fact that the flavor was absent in the fries was a little of a let down. Easy fix though. I would just add more Truffle Oil or whatever Truffle ingredient you add to the fries. Aside from that, all of us had a really good time and definitely would come back.
