Today we completed an online order with you. We usually only get mountain Mike's as a treat and my oldest says, birthday tradition since shes had this pizza every year for her birthday. I apologize for a lack of photos as I typically like to have those handy for reviews. Friday nights are a typical "Pizza Night" for my family. Our typical place doesn't do delivery and we weren't in the mood to drive so I opted for a local delivery from Mountain Mike's. From website order to delivery, it took about one hour which I think is fair. The delivery time was not quoted on the website or in the follow-up email so I called the store after 45 minutes to inquire. The lady who answered was polite and told me the Driver was out and should be there momentarily. Here's my review of the pies and the rational behind the 2-Star: 1. Medium Pepperoni Pizza. I'm vegetarian but even I can appreciate the pepperoni pizza as being the staple pie of Mountain Mike's. Unfortunately, this one seemed to have been in the oven too long as the curled pepperonis were charred and had the distinct charred smell. The family still enjoyed it. Nailing the timing and preventing burning on this routine pie should not be an issue. I've been to MM restaurants in neighboring Concord and Pleasant Hill and they get it right every time. 2. Medium Margherita Pizza. I can usually get by with a basic cheese but thought to try a margherita instead this time. The vegetarian menu pie looked way too "loaded" and while I could've modified off lots of vegetables, I thought to give this a shot. The website image was misleading in that what I received looked like a rounded cheese bread, sliced/halved beefsteak tomatoes with dried basil flakes peppered on. There was no mozzarella on it, no fresh basil, olive oil or even oregano to complete the pie. Similar to the pepperoni pizza, this was really dry, too. I hate to say this but I felt genuinely duped by this order. I ended up removing the tomatoes, warming the cheese bread again and just having that with wine. Overall, while Mountain Mike's is never a first-choice restaurant for my family, I like that their menu has variety and usually great quality. Our local Pittsburg shop can tighten up their quality control so more people choose to return vs having to go outside the city for a decent pie. read more
