Friendly staff and clean facility. They have a nice array of essentials for park goers, especially when you're in a pinch. The fudge was good and they had several flavors. Same with their ice creams. The sandwiches are nice and less expensive than the cafe at Mather Lodge. Their prices are higher of course than a typical convenience stop, but your other choice is half an hour into Morrilton. read more

Great little grocery/deli/souvenir/ice cream place. If you are into exotic flavor jerky, this is the place. They carries kangaroo, boar, alligator, beef and ostrich, buffalo flavors jerky. They serve cold sandwiches or you can get a beef burger or veggie burger. They have great ice cream flavors to choose from. They sell the essential that you would typically need when going to a state park or camping. Parking is very limited in front but they have more parking in the back. read more

Great little store, really thankful they're here. Went all the way to dollar general only to find out I could have gotten everything I wanted right here at Mountain Outpost! Staying down the road, this place has all of the essentials, snacks, drinks, ice, food, ice cream, fudge, unique petiti Jean gifts, camping supplies, you name it! I didn't grab any food other than some delicious fudge, but the employees were friendly and I'm glad I stopped in! Will definitely be back in the future. read more

This is one of those stores where the prices reflect their expectation of never seeing the same customer twice (most customers are camping at the park). I travel to the park at least once a year and it is now traditional for us to stop in at the outpost for their fudge. It isn't the best fudge, but hey... we're camping. The staff are friendly and they are good for conversation about local sites to see and things to do around the park. If you have a large grocery list then it will be worth the 30 minute drive back to Morrilton to visit Walmart, otherwise this store is good for picking up maintenance items such as charcoal and paper plates, etc... read more

This place is adorable and the service we got was FABULOUS! No you can't sample the fudge but it is a pandemic so give them some grace and get over it! The burgers we got were AMAZINGLY good and quick! We got souvenirs, chips and drinks to go with it and of course a box of fudge! The fudge is not cheap but what tourist place making a living these days sells cheap fudge? This fudge was FIRST CLASS GOOD! We will recommend this place to all our friends who travel this way. Also the outdoor dinning was great too. We enjoyed a cool breeze under shade trees and relaxed. All around Great place!! Staff were so friendly and helpful! read more

The burgers were pre cooked and not sure if they were being kept at the proper temperature as my BF had GI distress about 1 hour afterwards. I won't be going back...I ordered an icecream cone and was presented it properly and promptly told by the man behind the counter to eat it outside and there are napkins by the door...Rude! read more

OUT OF DATE FOOD! HAIR IN MY BURGER!! Very dissatisfied with the microwave burger from the "deli/restaurant" in this shop. First off we were going to buy steaks from their freezer and they were out of date from 1/2016 (today is 7/8/17). So instead we ordered some burgers from the menu and went back to our campsite to eat. Went to bite into my burger and there was a long black hair wrapped in my lettuce! Took it back and the young man that made it did not even offer an apology and was not very happy to give me my money back, he actually THREW my change at my hand. Will not be back and DO NOT RECOMMEND! FYI: Bread, candy, and hamburger meat was also out of date! CHECK DATES if you dare to visit this rude little establishment. read more

The "burgers" and "BBQ" at this place sounded so good to us, but when we ordered, the server took out frozen patties and started sticking everything into an array of microwave ovens. They were terrible - burgers and pulled pork sandwiches alike. We threw half of it out and went into Morrilton proper (off the mountain) for a decent meal. The fudge looked very inviting, but after the "burgers" and "BBQ" we weren't going to risk it. I stopped in and bought fudge, a sandwich, and a powerade. I was bicycling over the mountain and needed to refuel. The sandwich was ok, made with completely uninspired ingredients (low end store brand stuff) but the fudge was good. No one who worked in the store smiled or exhibited much friendliness, and the guy refused to refill my water bottle with tap water even though he was standing right in front of a sink. "We don't do tap water here, but you can fill it in the bathroom" he said. So I tried, but they have an ultra low-flow faucet so I just rode on to the park and refilled. But I think I can say, you aren't missing anything if you drive on by. read more

My family and I love this little store. The burgers are great regardless of being frozen. Love the fudge! The prices are reasonable, take into consideration that this is the only store on top of the mountain. They can't possibly cook stuff ahead, because you never know how many people will be coming in. This is our second time visiting Petit Jean. The people are nice and helpful. read more

This is a delightful little place in a location where there is no other place to buy camping and eating provisions for miles and miles and miles. The burgers are superb, as is the fudge. Tourists are a demanding lot, and when I go here for lunch, I only see very happy families. read more

All the bad posts on here I figure I would put my two cents worth in and give them two thumbs up from me...I went there on vacation and spent money there three different times...the ladies there were very friendly and helpful...the fudge is awesome, would definitely recommend trying it out...also got some beef jerky there that is extremely good...if you're on a trip, expect to pay more, that's what the prices are geared towards and people need to realize that when going on trips...kudos for helping me have a good time read more

It is what it is! They are the only store on the mountain and goods are priced accordingly--and that's ok with me. It saves me having to drive 25 miles to town for things I forgot or ran out of. Also, if you want something they don't have, you can ask and he will pick it up for you on his next trip to town--or you can save a little and drive the 50 mile round trip yourself ! They are a true "convenience" store and I appreciate their being here for us. read more
