A fun excursion when in Maui! We arrived at 4:30am at the pick up location and then drove up on the mountain to watch the sunrise (it was super cold, definitely bring some warm clothes!) We did 2, 6 mile bike rides from Mille marker 9 down to 3. Then went to the little town at the bottom for breakfast and finished with another 4 mile ride back to the original location. Our guide, Joe, was the highlight of the experience. He was so funny, but also made you feel very comfortable during the ride. The views were beautiful and was so fun to watch the sun come up! You don't have to be an expert bike rider to participate, but you do go pretty fast so defintely recommended to be comfortable on a bike. (Always the option to ride down in the van if you feel uncomfortable). The ride was a little scary for me personally, but fun to try something out of my comfort zone! Quality/Quantity - Overall good experience. Bobby and Nannie (spelled wrong?) made the excursion so much better. Bobby is an amazing cyclist, the stunts he did while riding downhill at 30+ miles an hour were amazing. You need to see for yourself to understand. Bikes - Old and used, one gear, VERY soft brakes bikes. The "soft" brakes are done on purpose so you do NOT make any sudden stops and hurt yourself. Or worse, throw yourself off the crater. Helmets - Per Maui's law, full helmets for our safety. I think they were motorized dirt bike helmets. I hope they sanitize between tours?!?!? If not, please start that program. They had the women ride up front and the men in the back. After the first ride and when I was done warming up, they allowed us to pick our own order, so I went straight to the front so I could go faster. Because of this, I got to see Bobby ride again and he was amazing. Atmosphere - Made 2 stops for photos. Only company that does the switchback twice. Which I did not understand until we started the second ride. My second ride was almost at full speed. First one was slower, more braking to get to know the bike and the road. Service - Excellent, Bobby and Nannie went out of their way to take care of everyone. Bobby has assimilated into the Hawaiian culture successfully. Relaxed and laid back but had quite a few one liner. Nannie, our driver, was a very good "Nascar" driver and even with a trailer, which we had for the second part of the trip! The downhill ride was fun but you no longer get to ride through town. I agree that it is safer but kinda a bummer that you ride half way down and then hop in the van and ride up again and down half way hop in the van drive in to the little town where they stop off and let you browse and grab a quick snack. Bikes were super old. My bikes brakes would fully lock up on a little tap. I didn't feel comfortable riding it so I asked to switch out bikes and they were super accommodating. I'm a biker and road bike a ton at home so I wasn't just being a baby the bike wasn't safe! The riding part was fun that's why I'm giving 3 stars but they need newer bikes! Booked the Haleakala pre-dawn bike tour for $130 USD per person. It's $100 cheaper and held later than the one with the sunrise, so perfect if you've already done the sunrise thing and don't wanna get up so early. They moved the time back from 0430h to 0530h, notified us the afternoon before via text message, A-OK by me! Ended up in a group of four riders with tour guide Manny and van support Mark. Sweet to have such a small group considering all the other groups we saw were like 15+ people, which would suck for more experienced and daring riders. I felt we did quite a bit of waiting around at the start, so really happy they moved the tour an hour back. Check-in was fine once we located the place, drove by it twice due to dark conditions and poor signage. Waivers done online the day before, or at the shop, water and granola bars were made available in the office prior to the tour. The confirmation email stated we had to wear masks on the bus, but this was not the case. I asked the administrator Noni to please update this detail. There was also no pre-video we had to watch even though the email said there was. Eh, keep it simple. Drove us up to the 6500' mark area, where we watched the sky change colours and the guys did some bike maintenance. Found it a bit weird that the bikes were not prepped and ready before the tour, but it didn't slow us down. I just felt it was a bit daft for us to be hanging out there for like an hour before we started our ride. Fortunately the weather was excellent, and not cold at all, just a bit chilly. More layers needed for the ride of course, I would highly recommend gloves. They were provided from a rather motley selection. Going down the high part of the mountain was the best part, and we got to do it twice! Unfortunately since February 2023, part of the ride down the mountain (where the ranch ends and leading up to Makawao) is forbidden for biking companies. I get it, but it would have been nice to know beforehand. So instead we rode down the high part twice, and being in a small group, the second run was at our leisure. Naturally we blasted down as fast as we would dare, reaching a top speed of 43km/h (about 33mph). Super sweet. I tried to convince Manny to take us up a third time, no luck! Took about 20 minutes to ride down the second time. Mark then drove our group to Makawao, where we got a 45 minute break to get some snacks etc. The ride continued after this, from Makawao to Paia, all downhill, comfortable coasting. Honestly we had really friendly service from Manny and Mark, they were so funny, genuine, and just legit local! It felt more like a cool small business than a big tour company, which is what we wanted. Our tour partners from Michigan were also great, and Manny went out of his way to make sure the one person who had physical limitations felt safe and comfortable. We all cheered her on as she finished her second run from the top with Manny keeping an eye on her. Would recommend this company highly for the small group, the personal touch, and the heavier bikes with the drum breaks. Made for a great ride, brought back BMX memories for me. So, so much fun. I have been on 14 cruises with shore excursions every time. This company provided the worst service of any shore excursion I have ever been on. NCL guests - do not do the 'Maui Downhill Bicycle Adventure - Min Age 12' shore excursion!!! Some of your party could be left seriously bleeding or worse, and others may not even get to participate after providing full payment! First, the tour guide was extremely rude and condescending to most guests. He spent most of the time talking about how expensive it was to live in Hawaii and how several of us would get injured. He even laughed that past clients had died. The tour through NCL was $189 + tax, which is a huge ripoff for what you get. The van was incredibly hot and musty. The bikes were old. Also, after paying $189 + tax, beware that the tour operator can decide on a whim that you 'probably' will not ride fast enough to keep up with the group and will need to spend the whole 45 minutes sitting in a van, with your money wasted. The tour operator did this to my teenage daughter without even giving her five seconds to get comfortable on her bike. After I complained to NCL about this, the tour operator refused to give the refund of $189 + taxes, advising they refused service because they were concerned about safety, but would be keeping all the money paid. Thankful for Bank of America!!! I was refunded the full amount of $189 + taxes as a chargeback once I disputed the full amount I paid with services not received. There were nine of us in the group, including my 13-year old son. An older woman (probably in her 60s or 70s) fell and had a lot of bleeding on her elbow. Everyone else was fine. I would expect that at a cost of $189 + tax, this company would have newer bikes and more safety equipment like knee pads, elbow pads, and hand gloves. I would also expect that they give customers a few minutes to get comfortable with their bikes before speeding downhill at 35 miles an hour on a downhill mountain road with traffic. It would also be nice if the grumpy tour operator was not mostly complaining about Hawaii, or joking about how many clients get injured or have died. While there might be a bit of a thrill to making it through this tour alive and speeding downhill on a mountain at 35 miles an hour, with old bikes and without more safety equipment and time to get comfortable, this is an all-around horrific experience at the cost of $189 + tax. Many thanks to our guide Bobby and his trusty Van support (whose name I have unfortunately forgotten) for leading our recent wonderful ride "down the volcano". Gayle, Jim, Erin, and I coasted most of the way, and I can only remember peddling a couple times. The key was to look straight ahead, pay close attention to Bobby's pace and safety signals, apply the brakes evenly, and enjoy the ride. There was one stop in Makawao for food and refreshment, and before you could say "Bob's Your Uncle", we were passing through and out of Pā'ia Town. Snacks were provided as was the Van ride to the "top" and return to home base (where our cars were parked) at Hali'imaile. All the safety precautions were clearly explained and easy to follow and worn (see helmet picture). It was a great ride down (including a few wildlife stops and time to smell the eucalyptus) and a fun ride up Haleakala with all of Bobby's personal and local stories and jokes. Mountain Riders was closed for awhile due to COVID and reopened relatively recently, with business slowly climbing back. We hope you'll try Mountain Riders and have as much fun as we did. I purchased the guided bike ride from Norwegian Cruise Lines (as part of a 7 day Hawaii island cruise) and Mountain Riders provided the guided bike ride. The terms and conditions provided at time of purchase ( by NCL) did not say anything about a minimum speed that you had to ride the bike on the downhill run. According to Mountain Riders, if you ride slower than 20 mph (32.2km/hr) you are not allowed to ride the bike and must return to the van. This is what happened to me. I am a competent bike rider, but prefer not to go fast (for my own safety). Such a disappointing experience. Don't book the Maui bike ride with Mountain Riders!!! read more

Best way to watch a sunrise!! DO THIS DAY 1!! Before you adjust to the timezone. They picked us up at our resort at 2:40 am. Brought us to their office to get jacket and rain pants. Snacks and coffee also available. Then took about a 45-hr drive up the mountain/volcano to the summit. We got there at 5:45 and it was about 30°F. Dress in layers!! Bring hand warmers. You're standing still for about an hour. We got there early enough to get a great spot to watch. The summit will get crowded as it gets closer to Sunrise. Sunrise was about 6:45 as it came over the clouds. It was magnificent! About 7am we reloaded in to the tour bus an left the National Park about 2 miles down, we pulled over and mounted on our bikes. We saw all climates. Frost on the rocks, mist from the clouds. Rainbows and sunshine and a Maui shower at the end. They put the slower riders in front as they tended to brake more often around the many hairpin turns. I only had to pedal maybe 3-5 times. We stopped a few times to let car traffic pass and to keep the group together. We stopped at 9:30 with about 9 miles left, to eat breakfast in a small town. There were a couple options a bakery & a general store serving breakfast sandwiches and coffee. We then went on to the last leg ending at the Pacific at lower Paia Beach. Although we were soaked due to the rainstorm we had a great time. I took off my rain gear after breakfast as it was in the mid 70s at the time. This is a definite must do tour. Skip the road to Hana(hell) and do this instead. read more

Awesome Sunrise viewing of Haleakala, fun staff, but so-so biking experience. Positives: -One of the best sunrise viewings you will see!!! (Albeit, cold!) -Our driver guide gave lots of island history on the drive up. -Having the van drive behind your group stopping cars from passing is great for less experienced bike riders. -The bike guide, Bobby has lots of funny comments/stories throughout the ride. -Great views the whole ride down. Lots of awesome smells as well (lavender). -You stop off midway in a quaint town for breakfast. Lots of small shops to browse around during a break. Negatives: -The tour van smelled heavily of smoke. If you are sensitive to cigarettes, you may have an issue. (They don't allow smoking in the van during the tour, but clearly the staff or someone is). -Your group is limited to the speed of the slowest rider. We were placed with a family that had two younger kids. Due to their body weight, and riding the brakes, the ride down was hampered. (I wish they put us in the other group. The started down second and actually passed us up). Several times, Bobby pulled way ahead with half the group and then had to pull over as the rest of the group was way behinds. One time the kid fell off his bike and we had to help him up, but the tour guide was not in eye sight to help. -It was $229 per rider, but then they hit you up multiple times for tips. The driver up asks something like $15-$20 per person! And the bike guide asks another time for $20-$30 per person! I think that is steep given what you pay for the tour. -Need some signage at the location when you first arrive. You are getting there at 2-3am, so it is really dark. Several people parked in the wrong spot when we first arrived. -We did this tour 15 years ago, I think with a different company. At that time, the tour company gave everyone a wind breaker coat to wear when you get to the top. Note, it was extremely cold. I was actually shaking from the cold! I loved this excursion. Shout out to Kaulana and Rob for a truly incredible morning. Pick up around 10am and finished by 3pm. Tour takes about 45 minutes to drive up Haleakala where the van pulls over and allows everyone a few photo opportunities as they prepare the bikes and helmets. The ride is around 17 miles down and takes approximately and 1 hour to ride. We stopped a few times to allow passing cars to go by and take photos. I would bring layers as it is cold at the top and the wind is chilly riding down. I had two light Mayer's and was still cold. I wore full length exercise pants with pockets to hold my phone and protect my legs from wind, sun, and possible fall. Bring an extra light coat or jacket as you can always take it off. No matter what time wear sunscreen on back of neck and hands. They offer water. The ride is about an hour and does require balance to maneuver the bike around some tight turns. You need your hands and arms more than legs as I was holding or pumping breaks on the way down. Finish the morning with a stop at Makawao. This is the cutest little town to eat or shop. Awesome tour. Loved these guys! If you're on the cruise ship and want an adventure and are in decent shape, this is an awesome tour! read more

There's nothing I would've changed about this experience except the weather which non of us have control over 5 star! + great communication by the company: confirmed online reservation, called the day before to confirm pick-up location, driver called 30 mins before arrival the day of +/- van that picks you up cozily sits 13, hopefully you're the first pick up to get the only 2 seater row :) + brief safety video, bathroom break and coffee+granola at the home base (and POG) + super professional driver and guide team combo - they work seamlessly together to block traffic and safely direct us down 7,000 ft elevation +/- getting up to the top of the mountain an hour+ early to see the "pre-dawn colors" haha, oh well +/- not a bad pit stop in town with various breakfast options (glad they didn't push just 1 location like other tours) + fantastic equipment - good bikes, helmets, jackets, pants and gloves (you may not think you need it, but you'll be glad they brought it for you) Can't wait to do it again! Great company and people running the tour. Bobby was a hoot as a tour guide. I would rate them a 5 star vs a 4 star if they disclosed a few important details prior to the trip. 1. It's very very cold and windy at the top, so dress with layers for 10-30 degree weather. Then it warms up to the normal 80's when you get towards the bottom. 2. They do not provide jackets or any warm clothing as described on their website. 3. With the van brings you up on the mountain, you will not be able to see the very windy road that bring you to the top. So if you get even a little motion sickness, be prepared to get sick. I personally would have taken dramamine if I was warned. At least a 1/3 of the passengers felt some sort of sickness. A couple passengers tossed their cookies. To handle the motion sickness, they do provide some ginger chews and peppermint oil to help with the nausea. They do offer to pull over if it gets to much and you feel like your getting to sick. The bikes look old but function great and the breaks are good too. The seats are big and comfy. Don't be afraid to pack a few of essential items as they will securely hold your bags in the van as they follow you down the mountain. If you can be prepared for the wind with severe cold at the top, plus the motion sickness getting there, you will be just fine and have a 5 star experience. read more

My husband and I booked our biking excursion with Mountain Riders, recommended from a travel guide. We were unimpressed with the initial meet up at 3am. The address took us to a dark empty lot with no signs. Finally, a van came by and we were greeted by the shuttle that would pick us up. I would say they weren't completely organized with the morning part. The shuttle ride was great and smooth. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see a sunrise as it was too cloudy but our tour guide was fabulous. We then were dropped off at a spot at Haleakala mountain and were met with Nani and Bobby who were our bike tour guides down the mountain. The bikes were older than we were all expecting. My chain even fell off while riding on them and Bobby didn't seem to be bothered. They were very friendly, just kept on wanting our tips, which felt annoying. It was nice to have a guided tour however. Probably wouldn't recommend this company for people looking to do this tour. read more

Totally worth the money. I just wish I brought a blanket as it was freezing waiting at the summit for sunrise. Nanee picked us up from our hotel, drove us to another location where we were given jackets and they had coffee, juice, water and granola bars for us. Then we got into bus and we're driven to Haleakalā Crater. We got primo spots right on the railing for the best sunrise I have ever watched. Waiting for sunrise we could see so many stars and planets, the Milky Way, Big Dipper, Venus, Saturn, and shooting stars. It was like a magical dream. Then Bobby took us on our bike tour down the mountain, this was so cool sights, smells and fresh air. We ended in Paia and were driven back to our hotels. What a great day! read more

Let me start out by saying the weather was terrible but we have done our best to separate that from the review of the company itself. We were told we'd be picked up at 2:30 and were not picked up until 3am. When we arrived to the station, "Nonnie" was running around yelling that we were late, shouting sizes and throwing jackets at us. The jackets were NOT what we expected. They did not even have a hood and there was a huge hole in the pocket of mine. Someone in our group asked where the gloves were (as promised in the confirmation email) and Nonnie shouted that there would be no gloves and that everything is "subject to change". Terrible start to the trip. There was no sunrise which we know could not be helped. However, the weather conditions were NOT safe for bike riding. Apparently the guides had expressed that but Nonnie insisted that the ride must go on; i.e. did not want to process refunds. Most of us rode in the van for the entirety of the trip which made for an 8 hour van ride. The guides with us, Elvin and Jessie, were great but Nonnie was the downfall of the company/experience. read more

My wife, daughter and I booked this trip as it was highly ranked on the list of things I wanted to do in Maui. However, my wife and daughter had serious reservations about completing the trip due to lack of experience on a bicycle. Bobby, our guide, and Andy in our follow van made the experience enjoyable and memorable for all of us. Waking up at 2AM to see the sunrise may seem extreme, but the views are worth it. Remember to bring many layers as it is very cold at the top. After the sunrise, you drive down to 6500 feet elevation where you are fitted on a bicycle and start the ride down. During this time, my daughter decided she was going to ride in the van instead of on the bike, however Bobby and Andy got personally involved in making sure she felt comfortable and safe while riding down. When they ask if anyone is nervous about the ride - be honest as they will help ensure that you have a very safe and fun morning. Because of the economic realities of a service industry professional your tips put food on their table and clothes on their children. These guys earned every dime and then some. As good as it's gonna get if you want a guided tour on bike! Of course it's a touristy thing to do, but the sunrise is absolutely incredible. What's even more incredible are the stars (they take you up to Mount Haleakala super early, which I read in reviews people did not like but that was probably my favorite part). I also read that people did not like the coffee and breakfast, so don't go if you are use to resorts and five star lattes for breakfast. After all, this is a bike ride in a national park on an island... ITS PRETTY COLD UP THERE (50 degrees!) so be prepared. DRESS WARMLY! Also, bring plenty cash to tip them at the end (they deserve it) and to stop for brunch. The people who you meet during this escapade are incredible, and our guide Alvin knew all sorts of stuff about the island. I am glad I went with these group of locals my first time, even though I probably wouldn't go on this tour again. I would feel confident going by myself next time! read more

Always wanted to ride down this mountain and when I say this was an amazing experience, IT WAS!! Our tour guides Bobby Nani we're an absolute delight! I was entertained the entire time!!!! Starting overlooking the island watching the beautiful colors of the sunrise, then stopping for a super fun mini photo shoot with our tour guides. We stopped in a charming little town called Paia for breakfast then kept going on the bike ride. As our tour guide Bobby called it we had a "Hawaiian blessing" when it started drizzling which was fun and beautiful at the same time!!! Great time for our family on our vacation! Make sure to go in this trip right when you get here. It's an early trip at 2am in the morning and make sure to pack HEAVY CLOTHING for the top of the mountain as it is always about 10-30 degrees at the top. It was a beautiful sunrise and amazing bike ride down. If you get nauseous easily be prepared. The bus ride up is very windy and you will get sick if you aren't prepared. The company provides ginger and peppermint and can be taken on the bus is requested. Personally, would bring anti-nausea medication for the relief. Overall, great time and amazing guides! Ok... I think my rating of 3 stars is fair. If you choose the sunrise tour, the trip is expensive. We paid $150 per person (booked through our hotel concierge, but that's also the price I saw on the Mountain Riders homepage). Pick up is extraordinarily early. Our hotel in Kihei is one of the closer ones to the base company, so we got picked up at 3:00am, but I know others will get picked up even earlier. After a stop at the base company to hitch the bike trailers, watch a safety video, pee, and get some coffee & granola bars, we were on our way. They'll also hand out thin windbreaker pants and nice medium-weight jackets (no hood). You stop about 7000ft up to let off the bike trailer, then continue to the visitor center for sunrise. We were there about an hour and a half early. It's DARK! Use a flashlight to see where you're walking. We slept in the van for an extra hour (and were thankful for it). Sunrise is sunrise. Honestly, I didn't think it was anything special. It's super cold and windy up there. I had a shirt, sweater, light jacket, and the company jacket, and I was still cold. It looked like not everyone was prepared for the temperature! If you're reading these reviews, you've been warned! So yeah... it was just the sun coming up. I'm sure sunset it a little nicer. Then it's back on the van to go back down to the trailer you let off earlier. Hop on the bikes, and you're flying down the mountain. Ok, maybe not. You have to maintain at least 20mph, or they'll make you ride down in the van. Which happened to me. It was so steep, and I was VERY nervous on the bike. It was not enjoyable. I made it 6 miles of the ~16miles down the mt. Seriously. If you're not comfortable going FAST on a steep decline, you won't enjoy it. Another woman from our group was also too cautious (I'm not gonna say "too slow," because we WERE going fast! I'll just say "cautious") and also rode in the van. At least in the van you're able to enjoy the scenery, since you're not focused on biking and the road and hand signals from the guide up ahead. After the 16 miles, you stop for a little breakfast in Makawao, then hop back on the bike for less of a steep decline to Pa'ia. I got back on the bike and was able to handle it no problem from that point. In Pa'ia, your trip ends, the bikes are reloaded, and the van takes you back to the base company where they drop the trailer and then take you back to your hotel. Was it worth it? In my opinion, no. It was $150 to wake up way earlier than I want, to get to the park 1.5 hours before the sun comes up, to freeze, and then not feel comfortable on what is supposed to be the best part of the bike ride. Granola bars & water/juice/tea/coffee are included, but breakfast in Makawao is on your own. Then tips for the driver & guide. Granted, JoJo and Alvin, who we had, were awesome. Full of knowledge and jokes. Just know what you're getting into. read more

This was our second time doing the sunrise bike tour at Haleakalā, first time for our daughter (12 yrs old). Everett was our tour guide for the sunrise portion and Bobby guided us on our bike ride. Both guys were awesome guides! We had a great time, start to finish. The 2:15 pick up time is tough, but we did this tour on our second full day on Maui so we weren't on Hawaii time yet, which made the wake up okay. It's a long day, but a great experience! At the stop in Paia you've gotta go to the Komoda Store and Bakery and get some donuts - they are amazing!!!!! read more

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!!!! I cancelled 7 days in advance of my trip and was told I would be refunded in five days.... it's now day 13. I have called and emailed 4 times now... not okay. Update on my review: today I have emailed and called multiple times no pick up or calls back. I had a friend call from a different number, when the woman picked up my friend started to explain the situation and they hung up in her. VERY DISAPPOINTING I am out$ 393 from this shady company. We booked with this company after the original company we booked with canceled our reservation the day before our excursion because we were the only ones booked in that time slot. This company has older bikes but they seemed to be well maintained. We did the sunrise tour, we were the lucky 50% that got an amazing sunrise. It is not the guides fault if it ends up too cloudy to see a sunrise. It was 35 degrees up there so dress warm. They provided a hooded fleece lined poncho to wrap around yourself while you wait for the sunrise, that was a nice surprise. The ride down the volcano felt safe being able to ride in the middle of the car lane. We liked the guided tour so that we didn't have to worry about when to ride on the side so cars could pass. The van following us let the lead know and then we would all move over. There isn't very much vehicle traffic going down the mountain so it was a very nice ride down. I am not a biker by any means, truth be told it had been a few years since I have been on a bike and we are in our 50's so I was a little nervous but I had a blast. The stop in the little town for a drink or snack was very enjoyable. Make sure you stop in the store that carries the cookies from the Maui Cookie Lady (delicious). You can bring a backpack that you leave on the bus, for water bottles, snacks, and a place to put the clothes you take off as it warms up. Just be prepared to tip half to the bus drivers after they bring you down to the beginning of the biking part and the other half of the tip to the guides at the end of the biking part. We were not prepared to do that so we gave it all at the end and they said they would give the portion to the bus drivers. Everyone we dealt with was kind, funny, and informative. read more

We had a horrible experience! The guide told me I was to slow an had to ride in the van. Very embarrassing and in unnecessary! They didn't refunds he money in fact they asked for a tip! Furthermore, they forced us to stop an eat in the guides home town to further benefit his pockets. Please consider a different company. Very sad to say this, we had a much better experience four years ago with a much better guide. Maybe the owners will pay attention to the greed of their guides an provide quality tours for their customers. Aloha! read more

There are lots of reasons this bike tour could be a terrible idea - it is pricey, you have to wake up around 2 in the morning, it is absolutely freezing at the top of Haleakala, etc. But this is a truly unique Hawaii experience you will not find anywhere else, and is well worth looking past any of those reservations. The Mountain Riders crew is very experienced and knowledgeable, and will make sure this is a safe and fun experience for everyone on the tour. Do not be afraid if you are not a regular bike rider - there is very little pedaling needed (mostly downhill coasting), and the crew is very patient to those who need some extra time to get acclimated to the bike. These guys do this run every day, and are only interested in making sure the ride is as comfortable as possible for you. read more

Not a dull moment! Our tour bus driver "K" and tour leaders Aliki and Bobby are hilarious and very informative. They ensure that your downhill bike ride is safe and enjoyable. Doesn't require advance biking skills at all. They provide all the gear including wind breakers/jacket/helmet. Had one of my brakes malfunctioned and the aforementioned staff promptly replaced my bike. Very enjoyable experience from sunrise at Haleakala all the way down to Paia beach! Fun tour. Five stars only because our host Kao (sp?) made it incredibly enjoyable. Him and the van driver Jo are such a well-synced team. His incredible energy, personality, experience and all the Maui facts/stories earned this rating. Otherwise to the Owner of this outfit - your bikes are getting rundown, the brakes make annoying noises and are weak, and the saddles are loose. My bike felt splashy all the way down, and I have been cycling/mtn biking for 12 years. I can only imagine how your average guest feels like coming down the volcano. Time for a major overhaul. Also your facilities need some work. A unisex outhouse? Not enough seats inside and the coffee was rough. How about you outdo the competition and have your staff offer hot drinks from a thermos during the sunrise? read more
