This little place sits in an area of blue ridge on rt 16. Not much to look on the outside . Traditional diner looks on the inside. They have a nice menu for their size. Service is great and the food for the value is great. I never get around here. But if I would be passing through I would definitely stop again. This an easy recommendation for a small country dinner. I don't know how people give this place a good review. We went in a couple weeks ago for breakfast ordered bacon, sausage, eggs, and home fries. The bacon came out raw. When I asked the waitress does that how you serve bacon she said" oh yeah, it does look pretty raw" you should see that when you pick it up from the window and bring it to the customers!! a sausage smelled like it sat in a freezer for five years and it was gray. It was disgusting. The eggs were runny when I asked for over medium. The waitress was very nice, but should've caught the raw bacon when she brought it out to us. The kitchen looks absolutely disgusting. I don't know how people eat here. I will never come back here. It's just nasty. read more

Enjoyed a tasty meal at Mountain Shadows. The salmon cake special was delicious and so affordably priced at 9.99. The servers were extremely friendly and attentive. The cook even poked her head out of the kitchen to ask if I was satisfied with my meal. Great food, great people! read more

We went with some friends there which we now regret. Over the course of our meal we noticed that the food was cold so we asked for our waitress to heat up our food. We heard the cook using the microwave. Hate to be that one person but everything was frozen food that we ordered and there was jubilee(supermarket) syrup. Overall the service was good and everyone was nice but the food was bad! read more

This spot was an amazing find! We were headed home from Gettysburg and wanted to get out of town before stopping. The staff was very friendly, and the food tasted like my grandmother was back there making the food herself. Food is good but kitchen looks pretty nasty. The waitress was super nice! Loved her but the end price was insane. I got 2 pancakes which were $5.99. I also got 2 eggs and bacon. And my bill was 15.90. Now unless they've already added the tip in there. My 2 eggs and 3pcs bacon was $9 give or take. So I won't be going back there. I made a quick stop here with a friend for some food during a road trip, and although initially feeling a bit out of place, we had a wonderful experience. The waitresses were so friendly and welcoming, and the pancakes were great! I had 2 huge hotcakes with peanut butter chips, totaling around $5.50 not including tip. Chili is good, lots of different beans. Ivy always cooks up a mean breakfast. The Summit breakfast will always fill you up. The burgers are good, and so are the BLTs. I do not recommend the veggie burger. read more

Over the course of a year I've eaten here 5 times. Each time predictably as unsatisfactory as the preceding visits. Consequently this is why I'm compelled to comment. The focus of this diner seems not to be on presenting quality food at reasonable prices but rather using the cheapest least costly ingredients possible. Not to mention the restrooms... Walmart table syrup ? Really ??? Coffee - so dark and acidic it was undrinkable, again. A plastic tub of margarine versus real butter. (Look up how and what margarine is made of and I'm sure you won't eat it either.) The bacon was more greasy fat than bacon. The list goes on & on but I won't say anymore about the food. The restrooms are disturbing. They're not heated or cooled. They smell of waste and age and to top it all off the doorknobs don't work either ; so they've installed a slide bolt over the doorknob to secure the space. I'm going to Cracker Barrel or Sheetz from now on.... read more

Great place to stop in and get the real traditional diner experience. Family operated since 1981. Frequented by the locals of Blue Ridge Summit and surrounding . Very friendly and they love visitors. They can answer or point you in the right direction to what the area has to offer for wandering traveler. Not to mention the breakfast is filling and you won't go hungry. read more

Although I have been to this diner at least a half dozen times, it's mediocre at its best. There's not much to eat in Blue Ridge Summit. In fact, it is one of only three eating establishments, the others being a diner (better than this one!) and a pizzeria, so it gets business based on lack of competition. Everything here is cheap. That's great. Wait---no it's not. I would prefer to pay a bit more and get better quality. For example, the salad here consists of the lettuce, tomatoes and onions that go on a burger---seriously. It's shredded iceberg lettuce, super thin tomatoes and super thin onions that all taste lukewarm---bleck! The vegetable soup has frozen vegetables and tastes like it's out of a can. The chili is good. The subs are okay---bread is lousy. Desserts are decent. They are made by someone who doesn't work there. The entrees are all simple and taste either pre-frozen, pre-canned or downright unmemorable for some other reason. One entree they make pretty well is their fried oysters----five or six good sized oysters with two sides. Thsi restaurant could really improve by making its own soups, serving better salads and options with more emphasis on fresh--even if it means raising the prices. I'd go there regularly if I could be assured of a real meal. read more

I got one of the specials for the day, roast beef with 2 sides (fries and macaroni salad). Food was good and tasted like diner food. When it comes to diners I think this is about as good as it gets. Two years in the area and two visits and I am a fan! My son goes to camp nearby and it has become our tradition to go to breakfast before I drop him off. Walking in I definitely feel like an outsider walking into someone's kitchen. They are friends but it is very evident that it is a local place. The service has been very attentive both times and friendly. The accommodated my son in making a burger for breakfast - and served it with a smile. The food is authentic diner style. They have a new menu. I had the Flat Iron Steak, it was cooked just the way I like it. The green beans were good too. My husband had the Grilled Seafood Platter, he said it was great, grilled haddock, grilled shrimp and scallops with hush puppies and onion rings. We'll be back. read more
